I thoroughly enjoyed driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. I went at about half 5 and there was no traffic at all! Went into a vista point at the end of the bridge and it made for some amazing pictures! I highly recommend putting this on your bucket list!

We parked on the far side and walked about half of the bridge. Structural marvel but be wary of the cyclist, they will run you over. Definitely worth seeing.
I hope everyone that is reading this is having a really good day. And if you are not, just know that in every new minute that passes you have an opportunity to change that.
Seeing it from a far is mesmerizing. Being up close and personal, getting to touch it, walk on it, drive on it, it's surreal. All the history that went into building it, it's crazy. Pictures do not really do it any justice. You MUST experience it once in your life. But it is very, very noisy with all the cars passing by. I happened to go about 7 ish, after having a picnic at the beach below watching the cargo ships go by and by that time the fog had rolled in. Only got about less than halfway, the wind was too much so definitely recommended during the day. But there were also very few people, I'm assuming its busier during the day. To each their own!
By night it look amacing ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I have only driven across the bridge, many times, both directions, never walked/biked. Every time I do, it's a different view. The clouds make many different moods for this steel giant. I do want to walk across it, but whenever I am in SF, there is this thing called moisture falling from the sky. I will make it one day.
San Francisco all around is one of my favorite cities in the country! This is a great place to get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge, even on a cloudy or foggy day!
The best overall bridge in America! Everyone should experience going over/see this bridge in person at least once in their lifetime. It is one of few pieces of architecture that actually exceeds hype.
Very cool attraction! We walked the bridge-- it was very long but worth it. Use the bathroom before you go because if it you'll wait in line to use a gross porta potty. Still 5 stars though because it's the freaking Golden Gate Bridge... #GoWarriors
The bridge is huge and beautiful. We ve found a lot of nice vista points from which we could see and photograph the bridge. It was awesome. One thing you guys should know, though. In all those movies (like spiderman) the bridge is always red. It was a real surprise when we saw the bridge is in fact brown..
Top tip! You can get the number 30 bus which takes you across the bridge for free, it goes every hour. Once there on the left is a view point and restrooms, great spot for taking a picture. Use google maps to navigate the the bus back X79 (I think, could be 78) but it goes from the other side, you ll take some stairs that take you down underneath the bridge to cross it, then walk through the car park away from the direction you want to go to up a bit of a hill, there is no bus stop sign but the bus stops on that corner by the car park and the road that sweeps down round the hill.
What an experience! We hired bikes from Blazing Saddles near our hotel (Argonaut). 2hrs free via hotel or $18 plus $12 for the ferry if you decide to do a 'round trip' rather than cycle back. (Plus tax 8%?). Sunday was busy - god knows why some want to go so fast!. There are some steep hills where the moderately fit will need to get off and push. Tips: Allow around 4 hours and take a pack up, drinks etc... Stop at the first picnic tables you see at the other side. If you decide to stop near the ferry side, you have to pay $3 to park your bike! Plan your ferry times (check the internet) Take a coat or hoodie. We went in May... windy, sometimes grey, sometimes sunny... use sun screen - I got burnt !
Beautiful as ever! We rented a tandem from Sports Basement's "Basically Free Bike Rental" and rode it across. Just make sure to bike on the correct side of bridge based on the day.
We saw a cop in a little golf cart like contraption chase down some guys biking on the wrong side of the bridge!
San Francisco is a truly unique American city and one of the world's great vacation spots. Explore its hills, ride the cable cars that climb them, and eat some seafood at Fisherman's Wharf. Also spend some time exploring Marin County on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, including the picturesque town of Sausalito. The giant redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument are only 30 minutes away and also well worth a side trip.
Be sure to also make time for a visit to or even better, a drive across, the Golden Gate Bridge. This monument to modern engineering genius spans the strait that connects San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The almost two-mile-long, six-lane bridge connects the Northern California city with Marin County.
Opened in 1937, the bridge has a unique, geometric beauty and can be viewed from many areas on either side of its span. Some of the best views are from the Marin Headlands, a hilly part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a national park which includes areas on either side of the bridge.
Beautiful, a must visit place in bay area. You can spend about 1 to 2 hrs here. There are few spots to view golden gate. Please make sure you carry jacket and some warm clothing, its often windy. And also there is side walk to walk and cycling path on the bridge. You can do lot of activites.
Wow, one realy amazing bridge and place to visit in San Francisco. Amazing to walk or drive on the bridge, but also observe it from the land. Coming early in the morning and observing it from land make te feeling even more amazing because.
If you want to see the best of the golden gate bridge cross the bridge from san Francisco and stop on the other side is the best view of the bridge and the city.
What's not to love about walking the historic and beautiful Golden Gate Bridge? If you've never done it then just do it. You won't regret it. Great views of San Francisco wharf side including Alcatraz and Angel island etc. It can get cool and windy on the bridge so dress accordingly. The cyclists can be annoying so watch out for them. Free parking at the lookout points where you can begin your walk.
Scenic and iconic bridge. Very photogenic at dusk when the lights are coming on and the glow of the sun is cascading into slumber. The Vista Point had a lot of historical information about the bridge and even about Alcatraz Island.
Absolutely majestic. Was on Bakers Beach and watched the sunset. Make sure you take a couple hours out of your day to walk the bridge. It does get windy up there. Saw sea lions and dolphins swimming around.
Get a bike, ride through the bridge. Take pictures. See the skyline and coast of San Francisco. Go to Sausalito. Take the ferry back or (even better) find someone ($20-$30 cab) to take you from Sausalito to Vista point and ride back through the bridge. You might see humpback whales!
You could go back and forth across this incredible art installation... Oh wait... That's a bridge!?! Holy cow! Who knew structures vital to our existence could be the perfect marriage of form and function.
This Place is a Must To See while in San Francisco California! Be Prepared, there is lots of wind up here and it takes 30 minutes to walk the whole bridge. I like that they have one side of the bridge for pedestrians and the other for cyclists.
Essential tourist visit for the Bay Area. Beautiful, especially in lighter fog. Parking around for a view can be kind of a pain, but not too much. It's a nice walk across, with great views of San Francisco. Absolutely worth a stop, but pick your vantage point ahead of time!
See the gate from the "Hawk Hill". Incredible city and bay views! Great stop. It's famous, and with good reason. Crossing the Golden Gate is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, no matter what you're driving.
The only thing I ll mention is that if you bike across like I did - the locals bike really fast and the lanes are narrow, so if you re not a confident biker be careful
