I pressed 4 stars initially but thought better of it! There is no reason not to give this place A+ across the board. Staff were friendly and endulgent, they wanted us to feel welcome! We did!! These are during a summer shower!

The hot water didn't work one morning so we couldn't take showers until later in the day. Not good. Then later same day, at night the power went out while I was in the bath tub! Very scary! We've been going for 15 years and neither of these have happened before. Have to wonder if Omni is cutting too many corners to save money. Plus, they have closed the Jefferson Pools, a national treasure! Very disappointing.

My wife and I visited this weekend with our 7 and 9 year old daughters. We had hoped to ski but decided not to as it rained most of our trip. We still had a wonderful visit. The staff is very attentive to the guests needs. We enjoyed the heated pools and the beautiful setting. I am somewhat of a history dork and enjoyed all of the over 250 years of The Homestead. Dining is wonderful. Be sure to enjoy the breakfast in the main dining room. We will definitely be back.

They are a great historical place and had nice music playing that one could hear at the entrance but it was such a shame their valet had ZERO respect to speak to a guest. First impressions are lasting so they might want to provide diversity training to staff, so that staff & specially valet at entrance knows how to speak with & treat non-white customers as well!

A grand hotel with a world class golf course. Famous the world over, the Omni Homestead Resort offers a full list of amenities on lush grounds in the beautiful small town of Hot Springs, Bath County, Virginia. A one of a kind location you will want to put on your bucket list!

The historical details of this property were lovely and the decorations for the holidays were impressive. The staff at the coffee shop and the initial valet were great. However, the overall customer service experience at the hotel was very disappointing. For the price point at this hotel and the service received, I would recommend other hotels in the area, such as The Jefferson, Boar's Head, or even Keswick. I probably would NOT return.
Our kids DID love the indoor pool, which again had really interesting historical detail and they loved the indoor arcade. I just did not feel that it was worth the investment. Customer service is important to me, and I did not receive that as this property.

This place is amazing! The spa is wonderful, it has a water park in the summer. Indoor pool for winter. Jacuzzi, arcade, mini golf, wonderful restaurants. I just cannot explain how much this place has to do! Wonderful place for the family, or romantic getaway!

Beautiful grounds and amazing staff. The hotel has tons of amenities, pools, mini golf, golf golf, arcade games. But... The hotel does look tired. The carpet and walls are pretty banged up, not up to the standards I was expecting. Oh, and since it's old, there isn't much soundproofing between rooms, so it was louder than we expected.

Very expensive. $6 for a bowl of cereal. Staff was was very nice. $10 a night for parking. Reminds me of the shinning. Room was ok, bathroom was cramped. Room had a big balcony which had great views. The walk to town was short and you can cut through the hotel. Steep ramps on the floor which makes pushing or pulling luggage up was a struggle especially if your older.

The Homestead and staff never disappoint. We are into the fifth generation of our family to enjoy this experience and come several times a year. The mineral pools are very helpful to my husband's RA as is just being able to relax and be pampered. We also enjoy the Spa and the restaurants and have gone skiing and taken a carriage ride here in the snow, always wonderful. Many of the staff have worked here for decades as often did their parents and grandparents. Consequently, they take exceptional pride in their work. We highly recommend the Homestead.

I didn't actually stay at the omni but went to the Jefferson Pools in the vicinity (which I believe they run). It was an incredibly relaxing experience.

Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there. It was absolutely fantastic. The spa is a must. The warm mineral pool was so relaxing. The zip line was very exciting and the Allegheny Outfitters staff was extremely helpful. We had dinner in the Jefferson's bar and restaurant. Extremely good food and excellent service. Need to come back to do All the things we missed

Just spent two days at The Homestead with my sister and brother-in-law for his birthday. Had a wonderful room with a beautiful view and a private balcony. Staff was friendly everywhere. The spa is awesome; loved hanging out in the serenity garden, getting a facial, and wandering through the aqua thermal suite. Hubby got a great mani-pedi. Ate twice at Woody's and loved both meals, particularly the farmer's salad and a burger-bbq combo. Enjoyed the historic tour (beautiful murals tell the story) and love the theater for a movie night. I hesitate to recommend coming on weekdays because I don't want crowds to increase, but it's much nicer than battling crowds on the weekend. I think the Homestead is a great place for a family gathering, a couple's retreat, or a destination wedding - a warm and gracious oasis of hospitality. There are signs of its age if you look for it, and the water pressure might not be the best in the older rooms, but it's a lovely place to spend time in Virginia's beautiful mountains.

Overall this place was excellent. Wonderful staff, good food, gorgeous hikes, OK mini golf, and the hot springs themselves are so relaxing. On top of that we took advantage of some of their related events like the shooting range and horseback riding. The one drawback was the room itself, very comfortable but not taken care of. Our toilet rocked and felt like it was about to break, our sink faucet gave out hot or cold water at random, and the wifi was spotty. Definitely worth a visit, but they need to start taking care of their rooms.

We did the Cascades Gorge Hike for the first time this trip and it was absolutely the highlight of the week. Hold off on doing the canoe trip until those in your party can manage a kayak instead of a canoe. The marketing for the canoe trip sets the expectation that you ll have a serene paddle down a lazy river -- this is not the case. You ll need to be able to navigate the canoe around large rocks while in Class I or II rapids. Much easier in a kayak.
Pool is great and relaxing. Poolside service is slow sometimes but the food is terrific. The water slides are fun for all ages. The unlimited towels were exciting.
Golf at The Homestead is exceptional. Get the prepaid rounds or a golf package. Golf staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.
The overall staff experience was phenomenal. Omni participates in a program to employ workers from overseas and we found these individuals very eager to assist and serve, but some we noticed were weak in English. Still, these individuals were very attentive and focused on providing top service.
The guest folio/billing is a bit overwhelming. Everything is its own line item. Everything. Food. Tax on food. Gratuity for food. It's all in one long list with no daily totals. I can understand it being done this way, but it s just a lot and makes separating what s been paid with what s outstanding a bit of a challenge.
Last thing -- I miss the Homestead-themed key-cards (now just generic Omni).

Terribly run place. We have had a gift card for this place for about 3 years. It clearly states on gift card that it never expires. We finally were able to take a weekend away and go. But when I called to book I found out the entire gift card had just been used by one of the employees in their accounting department and I was transferred to the accounting department for them to solve my problem. I called several times but nobody has returned my phone calls. This card has been in my drawer all this time. Only Homestead employees with access to accounts would have been able to use it.

Place wants desperately to be high class but the service is subpar. Insanely expensive for what you get, food is at least twice as expensive as it should be. Quite a few employees act like they don't want to be there or talk to you. Some were great. Activities are pricey. No one thing was a deal breaker but added up the experience was awful and we'll never go back.

Wonderful resort and hotel. The kids loved Allegheny Springs. If you're there on a weekend, recommend making dinner reservations prior to arrival. Rubino's location on the patio for dinner also can't be beat (at Cascades course via shuttle).

We just tooled around the hotel and had lunch. Likely, a reflection of an era long gone in our country.

My husband went horse back riding on our first day at the resort. After 20 minutes, the saddle came loose and he fell from the horse to the ground. He couldn't golf and we couldn't go for a hike as we planned.
Ends up that the stable folks lied and said he dismounted and then fell so that they have no responsibility. The insurance folks disallowed the claim and would not pay for the doctor visit and X-Rays.
The management gave him the run around but finally gave us two free nights in the future where we have the opportunity to spend another $500 at this dump. Other reviews said they nickel and dime everyone with charges for internet and expensive drinks...and we agree.

We have been up to the Omni Homestead as guests and as visitors many times. For the past several years, we have gone there for Thanksgiving dinner. This year, however, our service seemed subpar. The food was pretty good! However we sat for 35 minutes before receiving our drinks. Our server where they came back to our table at all. It was very disappointing. Probably due to the holidays as our normal level of service is fantastic.

Highly disappointed with this place. We stayed 3nights here and we changed rooms 3 times due to cleanliness. We saw hair 3 places In bathroom on first day and they were there next day after this room was cleaned. We complained at front desk and they gave us different room. We switched rooms 3 times and still not happy with. We also had problems in restaurant . Manu is only one page and waiter could not understand my order. We have to repeat order several times. Chairs were dirty and I asked them to wipe the chair which they should do it automatically after serving people. They are charging so much money and daily charges on top of rates not worth it. They should take extra precautions during this pandemic and they are not doing it. This is so scary. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This hotel is a pleasant experience, but the physical facility badly needs renovation, the furniture needs replacement, and the food and beverage service needs to be kicked up to a higher level. It is currently a 3 star experience for a 5 star price, but could be moved up to a 5 star experience.

Always a wonderful stay at The Homestead! So much to do in at absolutely beautiful area of Virginia. The staff are professional and friendly, always willing to assist their guests. The hotel is beautiful with so much history! There are so many activities that it is hard to choose, your stay can be as full as you want or you can relax in the spa all day. Restaurants are fantastic with delicious food and smiling staff. Highly recommend, visit any time of the year; always a great stay.

Treated poorly in the time I stayed at the Omni. Would not recommend going there, and especially not working there as they seem to lack human decency when it comes to taking care of its employees that they claim are "like family".

I have stayed here 3 times. In my mind, the purpose of a resort like this is to come for the amenities that the resort offers. My intent this trip was to ski and go to the outdoor pool. Despite freezing temperatures, the Homestead was unable to make snow and therefore the skiing was closed throughout my scheduled stay (also despite nearby resorts' agility to create about). I went to use the pool, and it was closed, though there was no sign. I asked at the front desk if the pool would be open, and the employee indicated that there was no reason why it should be open unless I knew something that she didn't. I explained the hours of the pool as posted on the daily activity sheet and at the pool and then she explained there were maintenance issues that was causing ice to form around the pool. I attempted to wait for the concierge, who was absent from her post for at least 20 minutes at which point I asked the bellman if he knew when she would be back. When he couldn't find her, he inquired about my issue and I re explained my issues with the skiing and pool. He told me there were no maintenance issues and they were both weather related. Apparently, in his mind, it was not yet cold enough to make snow on the mountain, but cold enough at the pool to make ice. This, despite the fact that the outdoor pool in the spa was open for a fee, but not for minors. He argued with me for a while rather and insisted that there was no fault on behalf of the hotel because it was not a maintenance issues. After already being frustrated with broken amenities, that was about the last thing I wanted was to be told I'm wrong via inconsistent excuses. This was just poor customer service. In addition and prior to this, the front desk tried to convince me at check in that they upgraded me from a king bed with roll away for my 15 year old son to two doubles. When I checked in, there were several bugs in the room that I had to kill.
I ended up checking out a day early despite pre paying for 3 days. Between their lost revenue from my family for lunch, dinner, another breakfast, and probably drinks, I assume they lost $250 or so, which I'm sure is a drop in the bucket for them, but is the real cost for a lack of proper maintenance and good customer service. I will also strongly encourage my company to bypass the Homestead for future corporate parties based on their consistent failures. Hopefully if the $250 doesn't get their attention, the loss of business for ~100 rooms for 3 nights, a meeting room, a hospitality room, a dinner and 3 days of lost revenue for activities, food, and drink will get their attention. Nemacolin and The Greenbrier are just as close to DC, offer similar amenities, and have provided much better experiences.

It has been about 12 years since we visited the Homestead. It is much nicer than we previously remember. All of the activities we participated in were first rate. It is important to put an itinerary together early including dining reservations. We were able to put our ballroom dance lessons to use during dinner in the main dining room. We could not get over all of the happy families. The staff were great. We are looking to go back next year. We did horseback riding, archery, golf on both courses, zip lining, hiking, kayaking, dancing, and the pools. There were all great.

It's a really fantastic property, but we were disappointed by the taste-to-price ratio at the on-resort restaurants. Our favorite spot is still the Bedford Springs Omni, but this is a nice alternative.

The room was lovely except for the humidity - it was very dry. The hotel screwed up the name on our reservation,. I notified them in October and they said they would corrected it, but on our Nov check-in they had not. At check in the clerk said he corrected it in the computer system, but I got an e-mail thanking me for my stay again under the wrong name. Their computer system needs some work.

Worn down and needs a facelift. The exterior is the best part, but the buildings and interior are in sad shape. It's sad really, such a historic place and once so beautiful. I really enjoyed John, our history tour guide, he was passionate and entertaining. Most of the other staff was just so so, not really that engaged. As you can tell, I was a bit disappointed. I'd pick The Greenbriar over this place any day.
That being said, they really seem to cater to families here so that's a plus. And the mineral springs a real draw. There are fun activities here and we loved our balcony view and seating.

When you are a vegetarian and the salad you choose comes with warm bacon dressing and you ask for the vinegarette from a less expensive salad only to be charged $5.00 additional. When I asked why so much, I was told just because the Chef/Owner wants to. I expressed my displeasure to no avail then made them aware I would never be back as well as tell others of my experience.

Love the Omni Homestead! Every 4th of July, it is now part of a family tradition to spend the holidays at this Grand Dame of a hotel. Omni has put a lot of money and work in to improve it. Great place for a family, lots to do, good value for the money.

Decided to have our family Christmas at the Homestead this year. It was wonderful. We've had an unimpressive stay here in the past, and couldn't have been more impressed this time around. Staff was friendly. Grounds were beautifully decorated and meticulously cared for. They are so committed to the Christmas experience they were even elaborate in their movement of an elf on the shelf. My Dad had a terrible cold while there, and one staff member heard him coughing in the lobby at 3 am, and offered to make him a hot tea with honey on the house. Now that's service.

The normally great stay ruined by pandemic.... Don't go without serious pre-planning. I have been to resort numerous times before with great experiences. However, this time the resort failed in all expectations. Most activities are closed, and more importantly all the open ones are booked out for weeks, so by the time we got there and tried to sign up for any activity no luck..... we had to leave hotel for everything . Even the only restaurant for dinner was booked for the three nights we stayed. Again we had to go off site for dinner. And worst of all the normally fantastic home made doughnuts for breakfast were boxed left under a heat lamp, old and stale. Very poor communication from hotel. Shame on you.
