We stayed hear back on May 1.2019. This was first time staying hear . We were so impressed this place and history . This so much do around the Resort . We took the one the trails staffed recommended to us. The food was out standing. Our room was really nice. Felt like home. If you do go to the Hot Springs this place is worth it. It was very relaxing .

My parents booked directly with this hotel with the express purpose of having a relaxing spa getaway following months of surgeries and stress. They booked months in advance for spa treatments and a mineral bath and soak. They traveled several hours to get there and spent the night with the treatments set for the next day. The morning of the treatments the hotel called their room to tell them their bookings were no longer available, defeating the purpose of their trip. They packed up and went home disappointed without any reconciliation from the hotel.
Basically even if you schedule far in advanced for this place, you aren t guaranteed spa treatments.

Love this resort, we go every year. Theres not a lot to do, it's a relax kinda place. So if you need action , not the place for you. If you want to relax and unwind this is the spot. Great staff, great food, everything is expensive but its expected at a resort and spa.

Pay close attention to the fine print when booking!!! The Homestead says that you can cancel up to 7 days out but when I just tried to cancel months out because I just learned of my husbands work schedule change, they refused to pay back my deposit (already paid in full) and cancel my reservations because I booked under one of their promotions. Unfortunately, their promotions are the only way this place is half way affordable for families. So now we are going whether we like it or not, but this will certainly be our last trip to the Homestead. Its a shame because I had been a long time customer and grew up coming here. I was so disappointed to be treated that way as a guest. I will certainly be telling all my friends to avoid it here. Such a shame. They are taking my money now but they won't have any in the future, I'm going to be sure of that.

My wife and I planned two nights but quickly added another night upon arrival based on the reception of the staff and the ambiance of the hotel. The complimentary history tour of the facility was very interesting and worthwhile and very recommended.
There are many activities available but we restricted to walking the trails and into the small quaint town of Hot Springs. The food was delicious and the service very gracious. The room was large, comfortable and very inviting with a slight issue with the air system. We did not report it to staff as it was intermittent and slept through it but would wake us, then calm down. This was later included in our on line comments.
We would definitely return.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Homestead as part of a wedding this past weekend. As soon as we arrived, we had the chance to upgrade our room to a king room with a view in the tower and I must say it was well worth the extra money. Huge room with an amazing private outdoor balcony. The spa was amazing, as was the food. And the staff was incredible! Very accommodating and definitely saintly to deal with our rowdy wedding crew. If I ever get back to the state of Virginia, it would be an honor to have the chance to visit the Homestead again. Thank you for the lovely stay.

The Homestead resort and spa is a true oasis in Virginia's mountains with a world-class spa and extremely professional staff. We went for a kid-free weekend but were blown away at the family friendly atmosphere and will definitely be repeat visitors. Highly recommend checking this place out for anyone in the area!

We had a wonderful stay at the Omni, the hotel is amazing with it s beautiful grounds, history, and wide variety of things to do. The entire staff was very friendly, helpful, and could not have been nicer. The gorge tour with Brian was awesome, so informative and entertaining, we talked about it for hours. I could not recommend this place any higher.

Love the location and history of this place. Although worn in some respects, I consider it gracefully aged for an establishment of it's era. Not inexpensive, but the staff is very accommodating. Our family had a very good time.

Our experience here was amazing. The activities were great and the staff was very friendly. The food was amazing and everything you would expect from a place like this. The one disappointment was the room. For the cost, I would have hoped for some nicer amenities and fixtures in the room.

Always a beautiful place to visit. I often go for work/conferences but recently enjoyed walking the property and seeing the variety of services. Highly recommend for spa or golf or historic hotel experience.

The location was scenic and the spa services were nice, but everything else was pretty lackluster. Between breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at The Jefferson and the Main Dinning Room, the food was okay, but not great. The towels, robes, and bed linens all felt old (not soft) and need to be replaced. Overall, it was pretty nice for a weekend, but I don't think I would visit again.

We checked in on July 23rd planning to stay for the weekend(Thursday to Sunday. We stayed approximately one hour before driving less than an hour to spend the weekend at the Greenbrier instead. I sincerely had high hopes for the Homestead but the resort from the service to the rundown property is inferior to the Greenbrier in every way. We couldn t even order room service to have a meal! How much more socially distant can you get than room service!! We have stayed at many resorts and Omni has usually impressed. We were very excited to stay at America s First resort, but I would save an hour and take your money a few miles up the road to America s Real Resort at The Greenbrier.

This place has it all as it should being nestled in the middle of the mountains. Plenty of choices for food around the hotel. The only thing I could sing them on is the hotel food. Other than that, you can do just about any outdoor activity you can think of.

Love this place! This was our third trip and we came for vacation with our three small children. Our suite was palatial. It was truly relaxing! We enjoyed lots of delicious food, the pool facility, and the top notch spa. Love letting our kids roam in the grassy lawn and eating outside at Woody's where they could play before and after they ate. All of the staff seem to enjoy working here and making our vacation great. We hope to become regulars.

Huge, unique and beautiful hotel set in a gorgeous part of Virginia. Wonderful escape. Wish there was a bit more variety for food options - selection and price. Staff was all very accommodating and customer focused. Loved our stay! Take the Cascades Gorge hike - worth the price.

Wonderful vacation with the added perk of on-site babysitting. Not for the faint-of-wallet, but if you can afford it (or sneak in during a massive sale, like we did), then you'll find yourself transported back in time and pampered.

We had an amazing family vacation here last week every the Fourth of July. Beautiful grounds, wonderful accommodations and plenty of activities for the family, which included archery, horseback riding, zip lining, painting class, a pool with slides as well as a spa and retreat for adults. Absolutely loved it!

Stayed on middle of November which is "OFF season" , it was to a certain point disappointing. If you have kids be prepare to have food for your kiddos while restaurants are closed ; situation gets worse on a Sunday ... be prepare to find no food , only one restaurant (The Jefferson) open for dinner , and good luck with getting a reservation.

We came here for our anniversary. The Omni Homestead is a very old, very large property. Expect some maintenance problems/issues. But Staff and Service was excellent. Pool area was very nice. I don t know if I would stay here again. Very expensive food and activity fees. It s isolated. Once you arrive you are locked into the hotel only.

You come here for the view and the atmosphere, not the location... The Homestead is beyond old and in the middle of nowhere. The room floors are tilted and not flat so much so if you lay a ball on the floor it will start rolling but this is to be expected from such an old hotel. You have to pay for everything. Nothing is free except pool access. The pool was nice for a hotel but crowded and there was competition for chairs. The game room was broken most of my stay but when it worked it was a nice place to unwind a little. Food is absolutely fantastic. Drinks are made by the books and made with high quality liquor. Forget your Absolut and go straight for Gray Goose. I am not a rich person but there are quite a few wealthy people that stay here and I have got to say, being the small fish that I am, adjusting to the rich culture of this hotel is a bit of a shock. I felt like I should have opted for bringing polos and kackies instead of jeans and tshirts. I just felt a little out of place but now I know. For a typical vacation couple, expect to spend anywhere from $400-$800 per day here just doing the basics. Room service was the best I ve ever experienced and was priced about the same as the restaurants. I would definitely stay here again but next time, I will be bringing my dress shirts.

The Homestead is a beautiful and historic hotel, s...

The Homestead is a beautiful and historic hotel, so it is too bad it has fallen into such disrepair. My family had been going to the Homestead twice a year for decades. It always had gracious service and a lovely atmosphere. I had not been since Omni took it over, and I was surprised by the overall shabbiness of the place as well as a lack of organization and proper management. The service was shoddy. We stayed for four days and attended the New Year's Eve gala (at 300 dollars per person). The food was fine - nothing exceptional - but the service was deplorable. They slammed down the plates between courses, never asked if our table needed anything (hello! can we get some water here!) and there was no champagne at midnight.
Our room was fine but shabby. The sofa was stained as were several spots in the carpet. The paint was badly peeling on the door to balcony, and the bathroom was in dire need of updating. I understand this is an old hotel, but my feeling is if you are going to position yourself as a 'luxury resort' and charge accordingly, then these details should be attended to.
We also ate in the dining room on one of our nights. The food was marginal - especially the dessert. We ordered the apple Tarte Tatin. The apples were undercooked, the pastry hard and tasteless and the presentation bland.
The Jefferson bar was the same - poor service - long waits for everything - then marginal food at top dollar prices. The entire experience was underwhelming - and that goes for the spa as well. To top it off, there were several mistakes on our final bill (which they did remove) but it just left a bad impression.
The whole experience made me sad because it had been such a special experience to go there.

I've been here multiple times, my family comes every year. The service is incredible: just last night, I ordered room service at midnight and they brought me milk and cookies on a whim.

I HIGHLY recommend taking the nature hike with a tour guide named Brian. You're missing out if you don't.

Simply amazing! Our room was small but fully functional for this historical building. The grounds are filled with gorgeous gardens, swimming pools, a float park, water slide and yard games. We enjoyed a nice and casual dinner on the back lawn at the Casino restaurant. I will be back!

Attended a conference and was delighted with the impeccable service, quality of dining options and the accommodations.

Plenty of extra curricular activities: spa, massage, golf, pool, hiking, horseback riding and more.

Rooms are spacious, decorated beautifully. Bathrooms are large, water hit and pressure good.

Great shopping in the resort, quaint shops for every liking. Game room, multiple bars and plenty of nooks to have conversations.

Great thing about the resort us that they are very organic, make their own butter and preserves. Good is fresh, natural and delicious. Planning to come back with family for a great weekend getaway. Recommend you do the same.

It was quite difficult to be spontaneous here on a weekend. Everything required reservations, and there wasn't a lot of information available to guide selecting things to do until it was too late to line things up. If you're a regular guest and have a routine, perhaps this wouldn't be a problem. The pool complex was really nice, the grounds were beautiful, and all of the staff we interacted with was friendly and helpful. However, the pricing of the food was definitely driven by the acknowledged lack of other options as opposed to quality. We did not go to the Homestead anticipating it would be inexpensive, but anticipated based on the advertised level of refinement that it wouldn't be a Sysco truck to plate type of joint, which it definitely was.

Great family stay at the Omni Homestead. Lots to do/excellent programs for the family and/or great for just couples too. Staff was professional and friendly. Food, excellent. Restaurant was able to accommodate my lengthy list of allergies. Would give it 5 stars but hotel does need major renovations.

Nice place to visit with your family, friends ,even with coworkers. Neat , clean, nice environment. I personally recommend Jefferson's Rest for nice dinner and Martha's for a casual lunch with friends. And when in Season go to Allegheny Springs (is the restaurant/bar in Pool area) ... delicious menu .
And Homestead had it's own Chef's garden... so you can imagine how fresh our food is.
*How do I know? I was a former chef here.

This grand ole hotel is in need of a renovation. It looks old and worn. The service in the restaurants is excellent but the food is mediocre relative to the prices you're paying. The Greenbrier would be a much better choice for your special occasion trip.

Horrendous. Everything just seemed to get worse and worse; which was sad since my family drove 5 hours to get here to celebrate my mother's birthday.
We hadn't even arrived to the hotel yet when we had our first bad experience. We were pulling into the parking lot from the main road and some employe cuts us off coming out of the parking lot, honks and yells at us! Anyone with a licence knows cars coming from the main road have the right away. And here this employe completely puts us off to this place before we even check in! Then the woman at the front desk tells us that the elevators aren't working; so we switch our rooms since we had booked the 16th floor. Come to find out the woman had "misspoke" and meant that the lights weren't working. We went from a 16th floor room to a 1st floor room because of this. We could have been cheated out of a better room because of this, but we will never know. (I would also like to mention that the walls in the closet and rooms have cracks, the door jams in our closet were completely out of place, the windows in our room do not lock and let all the cold in, the carpets are incredibly stained and the pool ;which is what this place is known for, closes early at 9pm)
Our third mishap was a failure to communicate from the front desk; yet again.
We were told that Monsters Inc would be shown at 7 and 9.30pm. When in reality the children's movie is ONLY at 7pm. I take my daughter to the theater, hoping that our night would be better and what comes on the screen? Pride and Prejudice.
At this point I am fuming guys; we hadn't even been here for half a day and it was clear no one at this place has a clue as to what is going on. They cannot communicate what so ever, and when we confronted them about every issue; they couldn't have cared less.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE. Even eating in town was horrible. The first place we tried didn't greet, seat or attend to us at all. Cucci's has good reviews which is why we went, but we didn't experience anything close to what others reviewed. We ended up leaving and trying out Lindsay's Roost... the waitress was sweet but the food... was clearly all prefrozen and everything was overcooked. Burgers were more than well done, the fries were stale.. and honestly we felt extremely uncomfortable because the few people there wouldn't stop staring! Also, they never mentioned that they don't take cards. Apparently there is a small sign, but it was covered up by a couple sitting in front of it.
All in all our first-day has been horrible and I feel terrible for my mother.... what was meant to be a special get away with the family for her birthday has been a complete and utter waste of time and money.

This Omni is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly and attentive. There are a ton of activities to do all over the resort grounds (though almost none of them are included in your stay fee or even the resort fee) and they are all priced pretty ridiculously. We ate in all of the restaurants on-site and the food and service were excellent, the prices were pretty high for what you get. Maybe I'm spoiled by living in a large city where you can get a killer meal for much cheaper, so I wasn't blown away here. Overall, the stay was very nice but in the future we'll probably look for something at least semi-inclusive.

This resort is beautiful! HUGE country resort with delicious food and a nice looking spa. I haven t tried the spa but it looks beautiful! The fitness center is open 6am-10 pm and it really big with pretty decent equipment. Their are several shops inside but they have limited hours. I went here for VMEA and it was a great experience with good service and great food! The food spots are Jefferson s (fine dining) and Woody s (high end American fare) and seriously both are great (albeit pricey). You can get a meal plan that includes the excellent breakfast buffet and a 3 course dinner and no lunch. Again, beautiful resort!
