The amenities are great; however, we had visible mold in our room in the garden wing. Staff kindly gave us other rooms, but we ended up separated and down the hall from each other. We re a family of 5 with small children, so this wasn t the ideal situation. If you re looking for a mediocre night s sleep, but a fun time during the day, stay here.

The facility in many of its nooks and crannies is a sad shadow of what it once was. The public areas look better than, for instance, our room's balcony, but upon closer inspection, the worn and ragged edges of deferred maintenance are evident. The staff are in general excellent and helpful. The food is excellent. Omni simply needs to update some carpets, repair some chairs, scrape off peeling paint and generally fix up this once-proud resort.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Omni Homestead. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. I was worried that it was going to feel too "hoity-toity", or too fancy....not at all! The guests were just "regular" people. I mean that in the best sense of the word! I encourage you to take advantage of the many different activities that are offered, especially the spa. Remember to pack your bathing suit!! If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or family vacation and the sticker price doesn't scare you away, you will have a lovely stay at The Homestead. You will feel like you have stepped back in time, and are experiencing a part of history. There is plenty to do, and plenty of places to relax and just take it all in.

I come to this place every year. Its amazing! I love this place personaly because not a lot of crazies go here. The place is great for a family vaction and the staff is very polite and do their job with pride. The rooms feel very homey and old. The place is well with keeping the old feel and look to the resort. Its not the Trump Tower, but its a place where you can go to get away and relax.

Excellent experience from beginning to end. Loved the room, the restaurant as well as the movie and campfire at night! Highly recommend you stay for a full weekend at least... there's so much to do :)

A nice, if expensive resort in the mountains. Food was generally good, and the facilities are a bit dated and showing their age. The spa was good, I guess, but the massages were not strong enough for my liking.

Historic. Excellent service and excellent food. Tremendous grounds and facilities. The rooms however are dated and need touch up. Bathrooms in particular. For the price of the rooms / resort charge it is hard to overlook this.

this place has so much potential. the service around everywhere is not good. when we went to swim, the locker rooms had no toilet paper so it was obviously not tended too. the restaurants service was great but the hotels was not. as soon as we got there the lobby was very stuffy. it was about 50 degrees so we didn t expect much and went to our room. we got to our room and it was so hot in there. we turned on the air conditioning and left it on the whole trip it was so hot I could barely sleep. the price payed for this place is way too overpriced for the old bad quality. very disappointed because I expected it to be amazing. this place does have so much potential to be great but it is way too hyped up for what it is. plus, not only are the rooms overpriced, you have to pay for everything else you do. which are also too overpriced. the best part about this place is that everything in together and the warm mineral water.

It's beautifully historic, but doesn't feel like Omni is dropping a lot of maintenance money into the property. Locals have signs posted on "Restore the Springs." Love the afternoon tea, open to the public. We were there when Hurricane Florence was coming, which cancelled a major event scheduled at the resort. The Lobby was empty!!!

Went here for the weekend as a surprise birthday gift for my partner and it was phenomenal. The staff was delightful the food was fantastic and the spa was everything and more. The property is huge and there is always something to do. They have an arcade, multiple lounge areas and various activities going on daily; and at night you can go out and look up at the stars, a sky full of them! While there we ate at 2 of the on site restuarants and enjoyed the breakfast buffet all of the meals were delicious and the wait staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. The only downside was we felt like the other guests and some of the managerial staff were "intrigued" to see a young black couple and we got many stares and side eyes. I highly recommend it otherwise and hope to go back soon!

Beautiful Historic Hotel with great services. We had a lovely horseback ride and great massages down at their Spa. The different soaking pools available at the spa are really fun and relaxing. Had nice poolside service for drinks at the spa pools as well.

I find the praise for this place mystifying. Yes it's scenery is beautiful, and yes some of the employees go above and beyond.... BUT it's expensive (my family of 5 was charged over $6K during a 3 night stay - with 2 rooms, and eating and activites) for well, less than superlative service. The rooms are shabby, the bathrooms outdated and small. Most of the activities are sort of worn, from puzzles to skeet shooting to skiing - all with older, run down equipment, missing pieces, broken straps. Our stay is fine, the rooms and food are pedestrian. Getting reservations to dinner or activities is nearly impossible -- because they are overbooked. As one exception are the golf club rentals, which were really nice Taylor Mades. But if you are asked to pay a premium, I expect premium service, and frankly that's where The Homestead falls down. If it were, say half the price, I would probably give the resort a 3 star rating, if it had superior customer service, I would have given another star, and if the rooms and facilities were superlative, new, and other than feeling like I was at my mother'said, I would have added another star.

Truly my favorite resort in the US due to the southern hospitality! Friendliest staff around. The doormen, bellmen and front desk staff make you feel so appreciated. They are the reason I've been coming back for 53 years! It's a property that takes you back in time. My heart rate drops the minute I see the tower! Best spa experience as well and the food is fabulous. Don't leave without a Homestead donut.

We go to the Homestead every year for my husband s birthday. We usually stay in the same room, but this year that part of the hotel was being renovated. When we got to the hotel to check in, we found that we had been upgraded to a king suite. The Homestead always sees to every little detail to make your stay more relaxing and welcoming. Even though there was only one dining room open due to renovations, the food was extremely well prepared and simply delicious. Every employee at the hotel always goes out of his or her way to greet customers and to make sure that they are comfortable. We will be back again next year and look forward to another wonderful experience.

The Homestead is one of a kind! A bit pricey but they go above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Sadly the weather wasn't ideal when we were here but there are plenty of indoor activities and the heated pools are nice even in bad weather.

So, yeah. It's really nice and the folks there are top notch. But...

It's insanely difficult to get to and from. The drive is just awful.

Once you are there you can eat in really overly fancy restaurants with overly fancy and expensive food. Even their low end restaurant features a $38 burger...though there are less expensive options. The nachos come with brisket. Who puts brisket on nachos? It's just a little bit overdone... Everything has to be gourmet.

And then there is the 1950s carpeting, wallpaper, and bathrooms. It's gonna take millions to change that. It's nice to have history and nostalgia, but eventually it's just old and outdated. I'm sure even the folks there would agree. Lime green and yellow carpeting with old lady wallpaper. Yuck.

And the internet not free. I may be wrong on that and I didn't want to sign up for the Omni rewards program, but internet access should be simple and free for all guests.

Seems to really need some cosmetic help .
The room was very close to a low end motel ..
Needed painting and the carpets in the rooms and public spaces are in terrible shape .
No not water at one point .
Definitely gone downhill in the last few years from a visual standpoint....

The Homestead is an excellent venue. Be sure to take the historical tour. The history of this resort dates to 1766, ten years before the Declaration of Independence. There are many activities, plus pools and hiking trails. But, plan more than one night. It took us a full day just to tour the buildings. The Jefferson and Main Dining Hall are superb for supper. Check out the deluxe rooms that offer a panoramic view of the property.

Loved our weekend at the Homestead. The food was absolutely wonderful, whether from the breakfast buffet or Jefferson s Sports Bar & Grille. We enjoyed a hike during our stay and just hanging around the property. We were there for our anniversary and had a wonderful time.

It is amazing. Woodies is a very good restaurant with cool variety. Got the low country boil, which is listed as an appetizer, but it is huge. Excellent. A lot of shrimp, great flavor. I am from the Carolinas, so have had a lot of boils. This was the best. Not even near the low country!

Hotel is awesome. So many amenities and comforts. Staff are very well trained and courteous.

Gym is huge. Great in and outdoor pools.

Amazing setting. Just loved it.

What a cool property, discreet, vast, historical, and there is something for everyone. You don t have to leave the compound if you don t want to. It is a hidden secret in the woods, but don t tell anyone!0 Check it out for yourself!

Love this place! Only drawback is the high priced addition to use the outdoor spa. 120 per couple is a little ridiculous to sit in a hot tub and swim in a pool for a day! Should be included in the Resort fee.

Everything here is well done. The food is excellent, the service is amazing, the grounds are impeccable, and there are plenty of activities for the whole family. We celebrated a special anniversary with three generations here, and all of us loved it.

We stayed at the Omni Homestead Resort in May and loved it so much we went again in August. The friendliness and service ftom the staff is second to none. The property is beautiful and family friendly. Goodbye to the Greenbriar!!!

We went to the hotel specifically for a two day falconry experience. I would highly recommend you check out this class. Linda, the Master Falconer and Debbie who handles the bookings could not have been more accommodating in spite of the weather challenges. The hotel itself is fantastic with a warm and welcoming staff. Service levels are very high and the food in all 3 restaurants was terrific. Lots to do for guests of any age. We will certainly be back.

They asked me to post a review during their survey, so here it goes:

This was our first visit to the Omni Homestead, and while my wife and I enjoyed ourselves, it's unlikely that we will return.

First, our room was not up to the standard we would expect for the rate that we paid. We were in a Premier View Room, and while the view was certainly "premier" the furnishings were not. A lot of stains were on the sofa, tears were in the lounge chair, and several stains and areas of bubbling could be found on the desk and night stand nearest the door.

While the spa was okay, we've certainly had better service. We had the Romance Ritual, and there was this underlying feeling of having a schedule to keep. For example, when asked about where we could find the restroom stunned look came upon the face of one of the masseuses, as if we would throw off the entire sequence of events. During the massage, both my wife and I noticed that there wasn't any sort of questioning for any problem areas or places where we'd like to be focused on. And when they did come across an area during the massage, neither seemed to take time to work it out. As if there were only allotted so many minutes per body area.

The quality of the food and beverage was disappointing at best. After our spa service on Friday, we hoped to enjoy lunch by the Serenity Garden pool. Instead, we received an Turkey Club that had obviously been made a day or two before (as evidenced by the brown smudge of avocado and tomato that leached out all of its juice) and a cheese and fruit tray with fruit that was molded. Now, I can understand how a cheese tray may get assembled ahead of time, but we can't make a sandwich to order? And if you are going to make cheese trays ahead of time, perhaps a bit of QC is needed to ensure that they are still fresh before being served.

Dinner that evening was at Jefferson's, and was the most discouraging part of our stay. To start, the two of us were set at a table of two between two large groups (one above us and one next to us) it was impossible for my wife and I to have a conversation. Second, we sat there between the two parties waiting 10 minutes before our waiter arrived. We ordered, me a NY strip and mushrooms, her shrimp and grits and each a salad to start. The salads were good, but the mains left a lot to be desired. The grits were the consistency of spackling, the mushrooms were sad and rubbery, swimming in a pool of cream (I thought I had ordered roasted mushrooms, not cream of mushroom soup), and I've had better quality meat from Costco. A lousy meal that cost way to much. We don't mind paying a premium, but if you are going to charge a premium, you better deliver. Jefferson's, without question, did not.

You may ask, "Did you speak up and let the staff know about your concerns?" Typically, yes we would. However, the greater point here is that when the room is $450/night and meals are $30-50/seat, I shouldn't have to complain. A high quality restaurant knows not to place a table of two between large groups. A high quality hotel won't stand for stained and ripped upholstery. Why should we have to inconvenience ourselves by changing rooms after we've unpacked or asking to sit in another area of the dining room or sending back poor food? When paying that kind of a premium, it should never come to that point.

We came into this weekend, understanding that this was going to be expensive. But we wanted an experience where we didn't have to worry, just relax and be blown away by excellent service and enjoy the finer things in life. Instead, we found ourselves questioning our decision to stay at the Homestead and wondering if we were wasting our money.

I don't think that is the mindset you want your guests to have. And it's not the frame of mind we want to be in when looking for a kid free weekend getaway.

Requested a king room; confirmation email verified that, but we were given a queen instead.(same happened to another couple in our group; she requested a room change, but was just given a larger room, still queen bed though.) Our view was a black rooftop. Room looked a little shabby with wallpaper edges peeling in several places. Furnishings were attractive; beds comfortable.
Activities we were interested in were either cancelled (or we were given incorrect info to begin with), so we were unable to do things we'd planned on. Staff members were very nice and helpful. Breakfast buffet offerings were extensive and quite good. We were put off by the way everything had a extra charge (e.g., water in your room: $6/bottle) Don't know what the $39 per night resort fee covers; maybe they just list it separately from the nightly room rate so the room rate quote sounds better.
The concierge, desk staff, and equestrian center staff were particularly helpful and pleasant. I was put off by the fees charged for almost every single thing. Exception was the "Homestead tour" which was interesting; I would recommend. Wish it had included the property beyond the hotel.

This is the perfect place to unwind. Spending a day, or 2, at the spa is well worth it. You must try the Lazy River for some fun. All pools are heated by natural springs. Walk the beautiful, manicured grounds. Main lobby has high tea and a pianist everyday. Everything you need is on site including shops & several dining locations. My two favorites are the Jefferson Bar & the Casino (both have outdoor dining). Expect Omni's excellent service.

Historic hotel (very old but cool with great views and possible ambiance). We only stayed one night to check it out and see if we would want to come and spend more time here - we do not. The overnight lows were in the upper 20s but our room was so hot we left the window open all night and still only slept with the sheet. Not a great place for couples wanting to have a nice get-a-way as there were screaming kids everywhere. The room next door had a screaming toddler - not happy, playing screaming (I don't mind that) but yelling, angry screaming - seemed like he was mad about everything. I don't understand why parents would bring kids to a place like this where everything is beautiful and shiny but you can't touch or play with anything. It was very cold and raining with literally nothing for kids to do indoors so they end up yelling, screaming and running around in the lobby, bar and restaurant areas.

We stayed at The Homestead during the week before Christmas. The decorations were beautiful, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is a special place. Plus, my wife really enjoyed the Spa.

This was my first visit to the Omni Homestead Resort for a work conference. I'll definitely be back for a "pleasure" visit.

The staff here provide excellent customer service. Housekeeping does a phenomenal job (especially Yamitza). The guest room and bathroom were spotless, bed was extra comfy. The temperature in the room was perfect - I brought a fan just in case but wasn't really necessary.

We had food from room service, the Lobby Bar and the main dining room. They all exceeded expectations. High tea was also memorable.

The most enjoyable part of the experience, in addition to exploring the impressive property, was meeting Doug and Mike from the Lobby Bar. These two guys know their cocktails, offer great & knowledgeable conversation, have such fun senses of humor and made us want to come back for a non-business visit (ASAP!).

Thanks for making us feel right at home and putting this visit at the top of the list for best business trip in years!

The resort is beautiful but I get the impression it is almost too big to maintain and is more reminiscent of a past time. The golf was challenging, the course in good shape, and it was not crowded. We took a well maintained and marked hike and took advantage of the pool (which had too many chaises too close together). Both on site dining restaurants were perfect for dinner and walking the grounds after dinner was pleasant.

I gave 5 stars because this place is awesome but very expensive. The down side is that our room smelled musty. It is very old but shouldn't smell like it. The shrimp and grits in the restaurant are the best I've had. You must go during a holiday to reap the gree stuff like face painting for the kids and petting zoo jump houses. Other than that everything is very expensive.

Amazing staff, but the property is very expensive and everything on the resort appears to be a la carte. For example, in order to use certain pools and hot tubs you have to pay additional fees. This is in addition to the "resort fee" charged to every guest. The water was off for hours in my room one morning. The food was also a bit pricey. But the bartenders, wait staff, front desk staff and cleaning staff are all super pleasant and helpful.

Cruise ship on land - We booked expecting charm and personal service, but this is a factory. Beautiful location but no personality or charm. Cancelled our second night. Not up to Omni standards or the price.

Amazing resort!!! Well worth the money spent. It is family friendly and everything is very convenient. The shuttle to the ski area comes often. The spa is beyond words can describe. The grounds are gorgeous. Staff is attentive and make you feel like royalty. We had an amazing time and will be making this a yearly family tradition !

Beautiful property and such a cute, quaint town to walk around to. Would give 5* however they charge the same whether you do valet or self park. No one at the property could explain why the parking charge given the fact that there is no where else to park and the town is very small. Might as well just add to the nightly rate instead of a separate charge.

Very cool place. Reminiscent of the great hotels/resorts of the early 1900s with all sorts of activities. The shooting club was very fun and the staff all around the resort were pleasant and helpful.
