Absolutely awful people. My 82 yearold neighbor forgot to pay her bill ONCE. And they didnt send any notification about cutting off service. No letters not even a phone call. She found out when the water stopped working while she was showering. (And if she didnt have an on demand water heater, she coulda been burnt as the hot water woulda kept going with a traditional water heater) and it took over 2 and a half hours on the phone with them; mostly on hold. And after u call and pay, u gotta call a different nunber to schedule turn on!! ITS INSANE!!! I suggest everyone in the county buy or make one of the wrenches they use to turn on / off the water at the main valve in your front yard. Rebar and some plate steel is all u need to make it. Complete tool is often sold on fb marketplace as well

The quality of the water is good. However, if you study your bill this month you will find that they have added a Metro Connect Charge. This is completely ridiculous. And were there any hearings about this charge and was it approved by the Public Service Commission? This is just gouging people. We are retirees and our pay along with many people who are working, did not go up in order to compensate for this ridiculous fee. This is just a hit to our budget. This is nothing but a way to get around the PSC and increase our water bill.

I can say from experience that the building itself is nice (they hosted a meeting of a computer club i was in once). and our water is fresh, so they must be doing there job. taking away one star due to bad website layout- the CSS is an absolute nightmare to navigate! it hurts my eyes just looking at it!

They are not regulated by any entity except the elite of Greenville County. They are horrible to work with! Understaffed! & Medieval the way they treat people. They started cutting the water off during Covid with no warning! Even between Christmas and New Years! We really need another provider or a regulatory agency!

The customer service at Greenville Water is good. Try dealing with Duke Energy and then tell me GW has a customer service issue. The water is awesome tasting and the bills for such good water are super reasonable. If only ReWa were as inexpensive. Good job Gee-dub!

Terrible customer service. Called to cancel service when I moved and I continued to receive a bill for $37.00 just for an empty house. Tried to call and clear it up and they were so confusing and rude. Hope I never live somewhere to need their services again.

Website barely works, won't let me add a card, got disconnected with no notification. Even have confirmation of payment, but was never told that it was declined. Paid their $60 reconnection fee because... what else do you do. Most companies will call before disconnecting, it seems they want to disconnect you to get their holiday bonus. (DURING A PANDEMIC THEY CUT OFF SOMEONE'S WATER BEFORE TRYING TO MAKE CONTACT)

We transferred our service from one address to another over 3 years ago and had to have our bill current to do so. Now suddenly, they claim we didn t transfer service but instead set up a new account and owe them $128 from the old account. We have 30 days to pay it or they will disconnect our current address. Our one and only notice about this was this demand for payment.

Multiple customer service reps were rude. One kept putting me on hold because she said she didn t want to listen to me when I would call her out on the multiple inconsistencies in their lies. The supervisor, Meredith, was downright disrespectful and condescending. She told me that we needed to learn to pay our bills on time. Sorry ma am but we do pay our bills and we paid this one and I will be contacting our bank and previous landlord to prove that.

For some reason, they did not pick up my trash this week.My pick up day is Thursday (that is what I was told when I set up my account) and ai sat it out Wednesday night. They never showed up! They need to come on Monday!!!

Why on Earth does the call service give an estimated wait time of "less than one minute" regardless of your place in line? And why on Earth did I just wait 2 hours and 15 minutes to be told by an automated voice that the phone service is down?

I called to report a leak on the city side of the meter but have currently been on hold for over 50 minutes. When I called initially I was caller number 2 with a wait time of less than 1 minute. Pretty quickly I went to caller number 1 with a wait time of less than 1 minute. That was over 40 minutes ago now. This is some of the worst customer service I ve experienced in quite sometime. I m very disappointed.

I do not have any complaints with the company itself but your supervisor, Meredith is very rude. Myself and several others that I know have spoken to her in the past and each time she has talked very ill mannered. It would be nice if you had a recorder just to play back and to hear her. The way she has talked to several customers. It sounds like she is taking her personal life affairs out on others. I wished you had a way to playback the phone conversations, I am sure the people over Greenville Water would be shocked. I am just giving my experience. Thank you

Greenville Water uses chloramine. People complain about skin, digestive, and respiratory symptoms wherever it's used. Because of health effects from chloramine, Hannibal, Missouri citizens voted to stop the use of chloramine and switch to chlorine and GAC. The vote was April 4, 2017.

If I could give it a 1/2 star, that would be more accurate. I signed up for water to be turned on, and they said they need the deed to the home in order to do it. So it was emailed days ago, and then it was CONFIRMED BY THE WATER COMPANY, but today they somehow have no clue of anything being turned on at my address. Meanwhile, I have renovators waiting there, needing water, and now have to be postponed; costing ME more money! This place sucks, and the customer representatives sound completely clueless. I guess they didn't provide them with a script for this type of situation.

Excellent customer service. My family recently had a water leak and our bill went from approximately $50/month to $220/month. We had the leak repaired, and then contacted Greenville Water to see if they would help us out by pro-rating our account for the leak.
After they checked to make sure our leak was repaired (they had to come out twice because it wasn't completely fixed the first time), they gave us a credit of approximately $250. Their customer service department stayed in constant contact with us to let us know the status.
A company the size of Greenville Water (especially one that has a monopoly in Greenville) was not required to go this extra step. Very much surprised by their customer service, and very pleased.

The website and online payment system are complete and utter garbage and their customer service is horrendous. I would've given them 1 star but luckily Greenville water tastes wonderful! Oh, and like reviews really matter. It's not like we can choose who our water or power company is. :)

experience so far. Water was easily turned on on schedule and when I called they gave me an estimate of how much my first bill would be.

Terrible company, and customer service .
Who authorized all of these "entities" charges. Just one big rip off!!
They all have volume and base charges for the same water!!
They threated to shut off my water if I didn't pay a NEW entity charge for MetroConnects. No prior notice for this charge, it just showed up on my bill, and we're suppose to just bend over and take it up the rectum. That's the problem when you're the only game in town. You can do what ever you want.
If customers don't like it, that's just to bad. There is no recourse.

If i could give Greenville Water a negative rating I would. Just read all the reviews before mine. This company is a scam artist and loves to take advantage of hard working citizens. No email notice, no disconnection call and they try and cut off my water. My bill was not due till January 7. Go get a real job!

Looks like you have plenty of money for a fancy looking building downtown but your website is barely functional for online pay...always have paid utilities online and this company has the worst online service....y'all need to get on Duke power's level their app is very user friendly...

Why in the world are all of these one star reviews on here? It appears all of the complaints on here are from unhappy customers due to unforeseen issues, pipes busting, leaks causing the bill to rise and an issue with the "contact us" tab. Consider what you're rating when rating a company, you can't rate the company's service based on the ease of use of their website, that is not what this is for. You cannot blame them for a pipe busting. Wow. Thank you Greenville Water for always being helpful when I call, replying to my emails when I have questions and making payment easy.

Called 4 days prior to needing a transfer of service. They only canceled service at my old residence and failed to complete the transfer to my new address leaving me without running water in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Not only did those employees fail a fellow human being but their emergency line did not consider this to be an emergency. I was told to call in the morning to take care of MY ISSUE that was created by them. And to top this all of the emergency line hung up on me. Absolutely appalling customer service and genuinely disappointed in our city. Thank you for putting my WORKING, ESSENTIAL family at risk.

Unfortunately, I can t say anything positive about Greenville Water System. I recently moved back to the area and switched bank accounts. In my human error, I forgot to change the auto draft to my new account. I was charged a $60 fee. I went to their office to pay my bill and explain what happened- they told me that because it was my error, there was nothing they could do about waving the fee. I had previously had Greenville water for 8 years and never missed a bill- way to work with your customers! So disappointed.

This company was fabulous, efficient and reasonably priced. We had a problem with an irrigation pump that another company put in. Chris came out and fixed it n short order. We were impressed by his knowledge, cool calm demeanor and professionalism. Hired him back to level out an area and spread some fill and topsoil - again, quick efficient and reasonably priced. So much so, we hired them to put in a sprinkler system - they worked under pressure and chaos the day they installed - lots of contractors here - lots going on and couldn't have been more accommodating - Thank you Chris, waterworks and team for a job well done

Attention customers

This company is using everything in their power to make life miserable for you as soon you happen to make the slightest mistake. I closed my bank account because i was changing banks and the water check was not cleared at this time. I have a clean record for 19 years and 6 month with this company without missing a payment on time, now I made one mistake and will be banned for 12 month using checks. I complaint to the service representative I don't appreciate to be bullied, because I have no other option to use another company for this services. This should be not allowed in a free market. SO BE CAREFUL DON'T MAKE A MISTAKE OR THEY MAY TREAT YOU THE SAME WAY. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR FREE COUNTRY. COMPANIES LIKE THIS SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

Despite having proof of transferring services into...

Despite having proof of transferring services into my name 2 months ago, they shut my water off and blamed it on my landlords. I never received a bill as they were all addressed to the previous tenant. They stated there was a record of the attempted transfer and shut my water off without contacting myself or my landlord. I m stuck without water until they have time to come out. Unbelievable.

Update 9/15/20: They somehow didn t have my SSN entered correctly when services were already setup. I ve had to call 4 times now and they are asking for a W2 or social security card to verify my SSN. For utilities....I m in disbelief that a company like this could be so horrendously organized and have no apparent desire to get simple details correct.

Always problems with online bill pay system. Fee is charged to pay by phone. Seldom get an answer if you try to speak to an actual person about making payments. Very frustrating! Driving to a payment location is not how we do things in 2020.

I know that this company doesn't care. They run a legal scam that's the only way I know how to say it. For years we payed our bills quarterly(every 3 months) now we pay monthly for what seems to my budget to be the same amount. My wife and I are both disabled my wife is very sick all I did was ask for 1 day extension.
They claim a few things that they did and just denied my 1 day. My wife's check goes in the mail on the 4th Wednesday of each month and I promised that I'll be there as soon as the doors open. Oh well the rich get richer and us poor folk just barely survive.

Recently bought a trailer from My Fiances cousin and went to call the water company to have them come cut the water on in my name so that we could have water well needless to say they refused to come cut my water on Because My Fiance was Family to the previous owner of the trailer and because the previous owner left them with a bill that they not use didnt pay they are refusing to cut the water on till they pay there bill off but the previous owner is one of those that dont keep up with their bills me and my faily of 6 with 5 of them being kids we have no water in our house because they refuse to cut it on and im having to go threw all the trouble of getting a bill of sale cuase he will not go get the title for the trailer so im not very happy with this copany even went as far as telling them we would go a head a pay $200 up front just so that they will cut it on and they still wouldnt do it even though when your first get greenville water there is no cut on fee but still tried to pay up front just to have water in my house

I've lived in a few cities in different states and the water bill here in my apartment in Greenville is by far the highest! You think with as much money as they take in the website would be functional and you could pay online but forget it...I've had to pay over the phone for two years now!

Why does "contact us" take a customer to this site? I would like to email someone at Greenville Water System. You either don't want to allow me to do that or want to make it difficult. That's what we get when there is no competition.

I just went and looked and ebill is UNCHECKED even though I have been on e-billing for years. No idea why...

And no way to talk with anyone about it on a weekend.

It amazes me that Greenville Water can charge a base fee regardless of when the water is turned on and off. It's like double billing when these fees are not pro-rated. Landlords and tenants are being ripped off.

Online payment almost never works, even if it does they don t bother making the website usuable on mobile devices. One of the most labor intensive and convoluted Pay by phones systems I have used. If you have a problem beyond that, good luck actually getting someone to help. You d think one your top priorities would be to make it easy for skmekne to pay you....

When I received my July bill with an added charge ...

When I received my July bill with an added charge for MetroConnect, I scanned the website to gain an idea of the new billing and was very surprised by what I found. I entered a question in the message window provided and took a walk to think about it.
A short time later I received a cell phone call from a very well informed and professional lady. She acknowledged my question and provided a clear and logical response, answering addition details in response to my further inquiries.
I can't tell you how impressed I was with her rapid response and thorough explanation of each topic. She was an absolutely outstanding spokes person for this public utility. If only others could take notice an follow her example.
I am now a convicted fan of our Greenville Water System.

They did work at my neighbors, ended up digging up part of my driveway and tractor tracks in my front yard. Never spoke to us, use left an orange cone in my driveway. Got home and surprise
