2018 reflection 367 BHS. We absolutely love this camper. This is our 4 camper in 20 years. With a Tifftin motorhome being our largest dollar amount. The reflection is by far a better camper. The customer service that grand design gives is second to none.

We purchased an Imagine BH2800 in January 2016. We chose GD because we wanted a good quality RV since the dealerships in our area all have horrible service ratings. We could not be happier with our camper OR the service we have received from GD! Not only do we feel we have a superior product (we have WAY fewer issues with ours than our friends with different makes) but what few issues we have had GD has resolved immediately. Every time I have called GD (yes, you can call the factory directly) I have had an immediate response from their service staff and gotten my issues and/or problems remedied. They really care about our experience with their RV's and have fantastic customer service. We will never purchase any other RV than a Grand Design!
We love our Grand Design but I sure hope no one out there is involved in an accident and you need to order parts from this manufacturer. They are very slow and VERY VERY uncooperative with the body shop. They refuse to provide any tracking information making it impossible to plan on when the repairs can begin. It seems that they want sell the product but they do not want to be there after they get your money.
Have had great experiences at rallies with Grand Design techs and other employees. Was able to get a few small repairs done. Learned some from the techs and JD s maintenance walkthrough was great. Would love to see 8k axles and increased ccc on the 375res. Might get us to upgrade to newer unit earlier than we currently have planned.
Update... got a phone call from Grand Design rep and she was very nice and helpful. We are working out the issues and hopefully get things resolved sooner than later.
Purchased a new 2021 Momentum from Lazy Days. Upon taking delivery there was a list of minor issues. Tried to make an appointment over the phone and they never booked. Took to La Mesa instead where it sat for a week. Most items had to be ordered. Wrote the Grand Design rep an email explaining my issues, he never responded. This is my 4th toy hauler and by far the worst experience. I had such high hopes purchasing a Grand Design product and failed my expectations. Worst part is no one cares after you spend the money. Stay in a hotel and save your money or rent an RV.
Buyer beware, while they may tout there 3 year structural warranty and a 12 year roof warranty DO T EXPECT THEM TO STAND BEHIND EITHER! We have a GD 2017 Imagine 2600RB. It has been on a total of 8 trips since taking ownership. My husband does all the Maintenance and roof caulking as recommended and as need. It is also kept under cover 6 months out of the year! It was done in May just prior to our trip. We went out West in July (never been that far from home before). Were notified by a trucker our roof was ballooning. Pulled over made a temporary repair and it fixed the air leaking in. When we got back to Florida we took it to a Certified authorize GD repair faculty as directed and approved by GD when we filed the issue with them during our trip. The repair facility noted incorrect Install of the roofing material and cap under the front fiberglass cap and no or close to none of any roof glue. Pictures were supplied to GD who in turn Sent it to the roof company. It s been denied based on lack of maintenance by the customer. Uh no it s inspected monthly before and after any trips. My husband reseals and caulks everything as recommended and as needed. Now here s the kicker the roof company claims there was no glue because they use a water suable Glue so if any water got underneath is it would dissolve the glue!! R you seriously Kidding me right now? Well if that s the case and there was water intrusion they would be staining and or mold none of which was an issue. So the point is here this was a incorrect factory install and a shoddy job at best! They are Adamant they will not cover this warranty claim! We were told By GD to file an insurance claim with our Insurance Comapny !!! While this isn t over by any means I will tell you again before you buy anything from this Comapny just know they will not stand Behind their product and they will not honor their industry s best warranty . While we love our coach I wouldn t buy from This maker ever again and will tell everyone I can to run fast and far from GD.
Grand Design has been phenomenal ever since we purchased and most especially thru the mid Atlantic rally 2020! They are a class A company and will definitely get our repeat business! Now if they could nudge General RV Ashland VA to be as great at after the sale... it would be most awesome
We are shopping for a RV to fulltime in and fell in love with a Solitude, but after reading the reviews here I am very disappointed. I understand that things do go wrong with all RV's, but these are major (water, electric) problems. Most dealerships have poor service departments so GD should investigate these dealerships before they let them sell their new RV's. We are seniors and do not want to deal with the hassle of having to have things fixed so often or stuck in a motel waiting for service to be completed. A warranty is fine, but not having to use that warranty because of having a quality product would be much better. I think we will start shopping around, and do more research on other products. We have been doing research for 2 yrs now and thought we found a superior product. We own a Lance right now and love it, but wanted something bigger to FT in. So back to looking we go. To bad. :(
We have been reviewing toy hauler trailer options and narrowed down our search to the Momentum by Grand Design. Grand Design customer service directed us to a gentleman named Chandler who is very knowledgeable. Chandler gave us a tour of the entire manufacturing facility with explanation. We had an opportunity to review specs, testing, and visually seeing the materials that go into the construction of the coach. The entire staff was very friendly, took pride in workmanship, and happy to assist. Thank you for the opportunity, NICE JOB Chandler!
I purchased a brand new 2015 Grand Design Reflection 323BHS. The camper has a great layout and quality cabinetry, giving it a very homey feel. Just after my camper hit the 13-14 months of ownership we had some issues with camper. 1.) Water filled the underbelly and ripped it off the frame ( my neighbor had same issue with a different reflection floor plan though). 2.) Once underbelly was open, realized the black tank was falling out of frame. 3.) The awning was pulling away from the body when pulled in. 4.) toilet smell throughout the camper (yes, I changed the sink vents) and still have this problem as it comes and goes. 5.) The biggest problem, I had a bedroom light switch burn up and chat my wiring. It also caused my bedroom lights to no longer work once the switch and wiring was fixed. So after posting some pictures on a Grand Design forum I am contacted by Grand Design (Jerry Weaver) and am told that they will pay to fix my wiring/lights/ and awning issue. I was elated and glad to hear they were going to back their product. Well when I contacted Jerry Weaver for repairs, he said he would send me the stuff needed to repair the problems. Broken promises, I'd rather they didn't offer. Overall the quality is average, the woodwork just was a good lipstick! I wouldn't rank the quality as high as they have their prices set, I'd look at something else for sure.
We bought our 2018 315RLTS last spring and LOVE it! It s perfect for us at our seasonal site, with the perfect combination of living space, features and storage. We had an issue with a drawer under the stove - not a manufacturing defect - and Grand Design replaced it for us free of charge! Fabulous camper, fabulous service!
We purchase a Mks307 let me say so far wish we didn't and wish there was a lemon law on campers first time out the valves on the docking station were bad had to be replace so couldn't pump from fresh water tank so no water on first trip then found out the awning on slide out was cut wrong wouldn't close all the way on one side. So had to wait could use awning for 3 trips dealer was waiting for new awning but the fixed docking station saying this has been a problem with a lot of these campers ok next trip found carpet was coming up also had staples sticking out everywhere on rugs in kitchen and bedroom next the slide out with tv and kitchen stsrting making noise took to dealer and found out the drive assembly was bad had to fix but had to wait for parts miss a camping trip now we went a trip this past weekend got here and shocking auto level went haywire lucky we have a good dealer Meyers of Caledonia ny they call their other store close to where we were they send a guy out the next morning he found not just the main controller for the auto level went but the main board also fried and to top it off when the legs went up and down the level leg in the back kitchen side got bent so had to replace also well call the company and this wasn't the first call but might be the last first few time got a person name Jason T very nice professional well this time got a guy name Ken very rude and arrogant ask to speak to manger above him he said he will let them know well no call so far the upper management should sign letters saying them stand behind there product if there was a lemon law for campers I would be getting a new one not waiting for the next big repair that will ruin another trip long story short stay away from the reflections also side note their rating when I first looked was over a 4 star now it's 3.4 stars hmmmm maybe growing to fast and not checking quality
I am very pleased with my Reflection fifth wheel from Grand Designs. Having owned other recreational vehicles including a much more expensive class A motorhome, I would not have any other make than Grand Designs. The appearance, quality, and function are excellent. The most valuable benefit of purchasing from Grand Designs has been the service after the sale. I have never experienced a more honest, sincere and professional customer service minded organization. These folks want repeat customers and positive word of mouth, and they will go out of their way to make certain that all of your concerns are addressed. I have dealt with Regional Service Manager David Hilliker on several occasions. Mr. Hilliker has met or exceeded my expectations each and every time. I have spoken to numerous other Grand Designs owners and they have often spoken to Mr. Hilliker and feel as I do. They, like myself are very pleased to own a fifth wheel from Grand Designs!
I bought a Grand Design imagine in July of 2019, I've had numerous issues with it. The lights above the recliner chairs wouldn't quit blinking, The light above the dinette wouldn't quit blinking also, both had to be replaced. The outdoor speaker on the front of the trailer had to be replaced. The shower leaked, door on the shower wasn't right. The window stripping on two windows inside had to be replaced, they weren't installed right. The power Jack had a loose wire, I was camping in the cold. and, had to crank it manually, very difficult with a bad shoulder. I've had minor issues every time I've used it.....my fingers are crossed now because I'll be going hunting next month and, I hope nothing breaks down on me....Not sure I'd recommend this trailer to anyone....
This is my opinion and should be taken as that. I must say that owning campers over 20 plus years they ALL have issues. In my history I had never heard of Grand Design. Until walking into one after owning another BRAND for 4 months and being serious underwhelmed. The amount of time that the customer service department responds has been amazing. Yes you may have to make more than one phone call people but be your own advocate for what you need. Their is a woman. We will call her Emily. Hahaha....who is amazing. Do your home work. We just attended our 1st "rally". And we're amazed at what their "TECHS" Actually do. They were driving around at 6 am to start their day. And ending those days at 10 pm. I think it is pretty amazing what this company does. We own a 2970rl and we almost bought the new Solitude rear kitchen and we have only owned for 1 year. Keep up the great work folks.
We are sitting in the side of a highway, on Friday evening and the brakes are locked on our2017 momentum and can't get a hold of anyone. This is after the main awning ripped off going down the interstate earlier today. We called the dealership when the awning ripped off they told us it shouldn't influence any thing else. We called local services to help but we have to of course wait tell they can get here. This is the start of a great vacation.
Our imagine trailer was said to be the best thing since camping began. We have only used it 4 times and I hate it. Cheap fixtures. We already had to replace the bathroom faucets. The bathroom door doesn t meet the wall when it s clised. Anyone who walks into the trailer from outside can see the person in the bathroom. The tub isn t supported underneath and flexes and feels like it will break when you step into it. There is no place to put shampoos, soap, cream rinse etc in the shower. The trim above the sofa fell down and the trim around the bottom of the storage compartment under the foot of the bed didn t have fastened trim on it. The lighting is horrible. Not enough, inconvenient switches, no light over the sink to see what you re doing. The kitchen faucet won t stay in place and drips/leaks when you re traveling. Cheap flooring and carpet (what tiny carpet there is). The air conditioning is wonky. It turns on, rattles then turns off without cooling then it turns back in in a couple minutes then cools. The retractable shower is a joke. Water everywhere and it doesn t drain so the water sits there to mildew/mold. I hate to see what happens over the winter. I haven t used the kitchen yet to cook. I dread it. I don t want to find out what goes wrong there. The strainer on the shower floor bent and popped out when it got stepped on. Cheap, cheap, cheap!!!!!!
Right now, I am at 2 stars. Happy Daze in Sacramento good, GDRV not so good. We went to retrieve our new 295RL 5th wheel on April 28th, and was called by Happy Daze in Sacramento to inform us that a slide was broken. Once the service department opened on Tuesday, they informed us that the slide was missing parts. They ordered the parts and had it fixed for pickup on May 5th. Why only 2 stars then?
This should have been found at the factory prior to shipping. They claim they have a 250-point inspection, yet they didn t catch the driver s side slide was defective? But the main reason for 2 stars is their inability to return either mine or my wife s repeated calls through that week. We left no less than 4 voicemails and not once did GD call us back. Mark at Happy Daze on the other hand, was the only one to keep us informed. We ll see over time if we are happy. There are many small issues that need to be addressed, and I will take it in for warranty work in July.
It is a nice trailer. Of the four we have owned this is by far the best, but after all my research, I was very disappointed on day one. They claim having Winnebago buy them out is good for the company, but as an older consumer, I am so sick of hearing that line over and over from this company or that one. These guys used to rock, but now I am not so sure.
Two years and nearly 10K miles on our 2018 303RLS. Loving the RV with trouble free experience. We ve been to 4 GD Rally s over the last year and quite impressed with tech support and their seminars at them along with GD sponsorship. Only negative is we haven t had any issues to take advantage of onsite GD techs to fix
My husband is employed here. They treat their employees amazingly. It's definitely the best RV factory he's ever worked for. We Love Grand Design and he's proud to wear the shirt he got for Christmas from their sales manager.... Reflection- "We're proud of what we build!"
We just bought our second Grand Design. The last time we had an Imagine and this time we bought a Reflection. We ve loved both of them for their design and features. We ve recently attended our first Grand Design rally and were very impressed with the company s support at the rally and the feeling of community that the owners have because of their experience with the company and their products. We expect to be Grand Design fo Life owners.
Towing my Grand Design Imagine from NY to CO when I noticed a problem with the roof. As I was driving through Indiana anyway I stopped at the factory service center. They went over the unit with a fine tooth comb, fixed it up, and had me back on the road the same day. Awesome, professional service.
And as for the unit itself, had it for a year, use it while traveling for work and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Spent the winter in upstate NY at -20F and it stayed toasty warm. Grand Design for life.
I have had a terrible experience with both grand design support and the grand design dealer in redding California. Support just stops responding after a while and the dealer was dishonest, damaged our rv, and did not complete the work.
We purchased a new 2018 Imagine 2250 RK. On our 1st trip water was pouring out of the bottom. Dealer replaced a bad check valve for an outside faucet. On our 2nd trip the 30 amp power connector broke, then the gray water actuator cable stuck, meaning full tank could not be drained. Our dealer said a month to even look at it. Called Grand Design for help. They were no help. This is a very sad beginning to our adventures. We like the camper, but are sad that it spends so much time broken.
I have a 2018 imagine 2950rl and we love our trailer. All warranty issues were handled right away, No questions asked. When I had a problem with the slide out, Grand design had me take it in to nearest dealer. Grand design had it fixed and coverd it under warranty, no question's asked. What a great company, Looking out for there customer's. Finally a RV company that care's, My hat is off to Grand Design. Thank You - 5 star company
We love our Reflection 5th wheel purchased last fall from General RV in Birch Run, MI. However we need some warranty service work done, but the factory, we are being told, is holding up the replacement parts. It is my understanding they are squabbling over replacement parts. We are suppose to leave on June 1st for a 30 day trip yet our unit has yet to be repaired. When it's under warranty just replace it and get the customer back on the road, then if the dealer and factory want squabble have at it. Do not put the customer in the middle and ruin their vacation.
Awesome RV! Little to zero issues from day one and of the rare issue we experienced, it was taken very seriously and resolved very quickly. Great quality and updated comfort and creature feature designs all the way through, inside and outside. My family has solid confidence in the performance of our Momentum 351 and we have already covered the east coast this past year. This is not our first camper but it s looking like it ll be the last one we ll need to purchase for many years to come. Thanks Grand Design!
We purchased a 268BH & have had some issues with it. I called & spoke to Austin who is one of the rudest people I ve ever spoke to in customer service. He was short tempered & completely unwilling to help me in any way or even try to understand what I was asking. If this is Grand Designs example of setting the bar it is quite a low standard. Update 11/23/2020-I was contacted by the Grand Design customer service team & they have addressed my concern. They have lived up to the claim of "setting the bar" for customer satisfaction & in doing so has gained a loyal customer.
I have revised my reveiw, from 1 star to a 5 star as customer service went out of their way to help me out with my concerns. Thank you Joe and Emily. We greatly appreciate it!!
Don t ever buy a used Grand Design. They completely screw you if you need any work done. Their quality is extremely bad. They may look nice but don t look behind the curtain. You will find mistakes out the wazoo!
We had water damage specifically from the Schwintek rail systems on all 3 of the slides that had them. When we took the floor out we saw the exact location it was coming in. CLEARLY a manufacturer error. I contacted their best customer service ever and they declined to help because we are the second owners. Of a 2 year old rig. 2 years old!! I shouldn t have rotted out floors in a 2 year old rig.
The couches are completely falling apart and again, I have seen they replaced other people s couches doing the EXACT same thing, but nope. Won t help us because we are second owners.
Our awning was installed wrong (it is extremely noticeable) so it doesn t roll in and our right. Also, the awning itself has shrunken by 5-6 inches. 2 years old. Again, Grand Design will not help us.
Overall, we like the camper, but having Grand Design show you any respect for buying their product that is as much as a house, is complete bull. They will not help you if you buy a used rig. This will be THE LAST Grand Design we will ever buy.
My camper is falling apart before my very eyes. One thing after another, bad hepvo valve flooding my bedroom, leaking black tank!, gray and black tank valve malfunctions, water pouring out of nose cone and 5th wheel hitch area during rain, slide gears stripped and out of alignment, to now a leaking living room slide!! Water pouring into storage and kitchen stairs while raining, This camper should be in the top 5 of campers, but it is number 1 in problems. Would someone with GD please tell me how to resolve the terrible investment I've made in this camper!!
After researching toy haulers for a year or so prior to retiring and selling our home of 34 yrs, there was only one RV manufacturer with a proven quality product that met our needs and exceeded the industry standard. We love that they also give back in a thoughtful way to many organizations we believe in. We were present at the National Rally this summer in Indiana where we witnessed first hand the company's generosity contributing money to many local and national causes. We've been full time since September of 2018 and LOVE our 376TH Grand Design home. We've traveled all over the country in our new home and couldn't be happier or prouder to share our experiences. GD has an exceptional support team and along with many other GD owners offer a sense of community that allows us the confidence to continue our full time travels. We love being part of this family.
I have to say Grand Design is # 1 in my book.I bought a 2014 Grand Design 385TH , I'm the 2nd owner and had a problem with the main living area's floor. It had soft spots in the floor in front of the pantry and in the 2nd bathroom. Grand Design is standing behind the floor and I also had a problem with the suspension which they also stood behind. I did get an estimate for the damage to the floor and it was $16,000. I dropped my unit off in November of 2017 and received a call last week that it's finished at no cost to me. I have a person I work with who bought a 2014 Keystone Fusion with the same problem where the floor in the main slide and living area has major water damage. The person called Keystone and was told there is nothing they can do for him it's over a year old. Thank You Very Much Grand Design you have my Business.
I have owned a Solitude for 5 years and just switched to a Momentum. In all my years of ownership Grand Design has stood by their brand and have corrected all the issues I've come across. Mel Williams, Valerie in parts and service and their techs David, Shawn, Randy T. Have gone above and beyond for me. Even now with my new unit I damaged an awning, Mel arranged for the part to arrive, a part I could not get due to the COVID pandemic. I'll be back on the road in no time. Thank you Grand Design, I am a satisfied customer and will be always be, they are several notches above their competition.
We have had a great experience with Grand Design's and our Reflection 312. They have been super responsive about warranty work. Top quality craftsmanship! We are really satisfied with our choice!
We just purchased a 2021 Reflection q50 260rd .We are very happy with the rv. Two things I didn't like one no sewer hose and dealer never told us it didn't have one we found out when tanks were almost full a a rv park had to drive 40 miles to nearest town and get one. Seriously we payed 50 k and no sewer hose!! Two the dinette table is not even close to level so those two items aside we are happy.
Grand Design manufacturer worked with me on problems with new camper and provided mobile support since we were unable to take back to the dealer for three months. There are still two issues to get fixed by the dealer but very excited to have the builder stand by the product and make it right. Thank you Gentry and Kent! - Karen
Long story short our camper was involved in an accident (not our fault) damage to camper was extensive and we felt that it would be best to contact manufacturer. We were amazed at how fast we actually got the message the camper was done. We hadn t had it the last half of the summer and we missed it not being able to go anywhere (COVID) and feeling safe in our own space. Once we got the call it was such a blessed happy excited feeling and since we have heard/read such great things from everyone online we were expecting greatness. Also when we dropped it off the Service Managers words were it will be better than new . Now how could anyone think the next was going to happen? We drove 9 hours to Indiana in November to go pick up our camper. And we got there after the shop closed and as we asked it was parked on one of their customer sites with the heat turned on. Our first look was shocked. The outside of camper was dirty okay it was cold maybe no cleaning of the body of camper but the mud that was caked on our landing gear in places was an inch deep. And at quick glance we saw the walls were indeed done. The anger/disgust/sadness hit us slowly when we did a walk around. Our camper was FAR from better than new . The work was not done. Let s start with the outside .while our camper was in their possession they managed to hit the cone of camper on something which took paint off, the sewer pipe holder was not replaced, the tail lights didn t match (we bought an aftermarket one to make the trip safely to Indiana after accident) they put the aftermarket one and the old one back on. The list continues: Freezer door not functioning properly was told the ice bucket was in backwards (still doesn t close properly and have lost food), dinette slide awning topper was not tightened, shower doors no longer function properly and it creeks bad when using it (since the wall replacement), bedroom door and washer closet door don t function properly (staying closed and actually being able to turn the door knob) they lubed the latch on washer closet door to fix the problem but nope that didn t do it. The trim in master bedroom is broke which wasn t prior. The walls in bunk room and master bedroom were unattached and floppy. The screen that was broke during accident wasn t replaced. The drawer in kitchen by fridge was damaged in accident and it still doesn t seem to work well. The dinette slide is rubbing on the floor and I mentioned that and because the black mark was gone I assumed it was addressed but nope and the flooring is rubbed and shiny one spot is close to being ripped. Our reclining chairs that were ripped from floor during accident weren t reattached. Our MorRyde steps were bent/twisted and broken. They replaced them with new steps that were adjusted BUT still rubbing the body on camper (not GD fault). Needless to say we were fuming! The next morning as soon as service opened we were knocking on that door. Valerie couldn t believe it. The service manager apologized stating he was away so he didn t know it wasn t done. Needless to say we had to find something to do with our 2 kids and 2 dogs on a cold November day for over 4 hours. And while they took camper back in to do the missed repairs and somehow our awning arm was damaged. The camper is still in need of repair. Cleanliness of my camper was disgusting. There were muddy foot prints in camper, nothing was cleaned by them. The amount of nails and scraps we have and continue to find is unreal. The putty used to fill in nail holes and staples was on the floor. On a positive note they did offer to pay for our breakfast that morning and they did allow us to use the showers on property. They also took unit back in quickly that morning to get everything else done. Even though it still isn t complete and it is still far from better than new we were able to take a family trip with it.
UPDATE: We love our Solitude - the problems we have with is NOT Grand Designs fault. We simply stated our experience with the service department.
I do not not ever write reviews because I just don't have the time. I purchased one of the Grand Design Reflection 5th wheels in 2018. There was a slow water leak from the kitchen faucet that I did not discover until some damage has already developed. When I attempted to address the issue with Grand Design directly, their customer service representative immediately took the position that it was my problem to deal with and that they were not responsible. I gave my email address as requested whereby the representative stated that she would send me an email so that I could send photos and further discuss the issue. I never received that email. I also followed up with two more calls and left messages that have still been unreturned. It is a simple issue that Grand Design should in fact have the integrity by which to resolve as this is a manufacturing defect. This is just one issue of a couple that needs to be addressed.
Anyone who is a potential buyer of Grand Design, I would highly recommend researching other manufacturers.
Our 1 Year Grand Design Solitude 344GK-R Anniversary is coming up next month on April 2. When we were researching RV's last year to live full-time, we had several people tell us that no RV is perfect, but if you want the best built Fifth Wheels backed by the best customer service in the RV business, then Grand Design is the way to go. We researched the company, reached out to The Getaway Couple on Youtube (GD Ambassadors) for information, and based on all the positive feedback, we dived into the RV Life. Over the past year during our warranty "shakedown" we've had a few issues. Mind you though, these issues were all considered minor fixes. We've had to contact Grand Design about 4 times. Well, we just have to say from our own personal experience that everyone was right. GD stepped up every time, no questions asked, and gave us what we needed to fix our issues. It's been a pleasure dealing with this company. We just wanted to say "Thank You Grand Design", you've got us as "GDRV4LIFE" customers. We're already talking about what to upgrade to next in a few more years! Sincerely, Jason, Tod, & Ziggy
We just purchased our second GD 5th wheel. Our first one (2018) was almost perfect and had almost no warranty issues. Well, our new 2019 was a let down. Cheapened entry steps, propane lines hanging loose underneath, cargo door latches corroded, drip rails installed crooked, refrigerator drain was stuffed inside cabinet and would have drained onto floor, battery cover laying loose, decals starting to peel off front, one dinette chair had to be replaced, fire place squeaks and groans... The "new company" honeymoon is obviously over.
Factory rep assured me the coach was good for 4 seasons. Furnace hardly shuts off when below 32 degrees. Furnace hardly keeps up when below 15 degrees. Pipes freeze inside of coach at 10 degrees. Was told coach was tested at 0 degrees. Way overrated. Much better manufacturers out there for less money. I've had several high end new large fifth wheels. I rate this one at the lowest.
The trailer is a nice enough trailer but lacks storage I see a lot of spaces that could have been used in a better way. In the bathroom there is no storage underneath the sink what a wasted space do not use round cupboards they are useless. In the back bathroom there's a mirror above the sink why. It doesn't cost that much more to put in a actual bathroom cabinet which now I am going to do. And again there is not much storage underneath if any
The reason for the 3 star is for the look of the 2017 2500rl we love but it's the little things that were done cheap. Using aluminium pop rivets to hold the shower brackets on is a huge mistake fail. I have had to pull my entire shower out for repair and fix poor cheap design that the company did to save a buck. New buyers be aware of the fine details and be aware that the rv dealership can take care of any issues because the dealership is always backed up a month in advance.
First of all we were delighted to buy a gently used 337RLS (2016) early in 2018. I had an accident damaging the rear panel (and a corner panel as well). We took it to the closest rv repair (10 miles). After about 2-3 weeks they told us that they were unable to get the parts from the closest GD dealer. Fine, I thought. So I took it to the closest GD dealer (35 miles away). Its been sitting up there now for 2 months. I just recently contacted them to ask how it was progressing. Their response....still waiting for parts. I asked them how this could be as they were a dealer, shouldn't it be a non issue. Her reply was that GD no longer made the same rear panel and that they would not deliver the part until enough of the panels were purchased in advance (they were producing them in large numbers). Granted I could see that if we were talking about a much older model repair. We had already agreed on using a different interior color on the panel way back in August. After going over the other reviews I see this is not an isolated incident involving repair parts, especially buying used.....VERY FRUSTRATED IN DENVER
We just bought our 1st travel trailer and are so excited to begin our experiences with it. After much research we decided to go with Grand Design. Well it was between GD and another. I was fine with the other brand it was a bit less expensive and quite honestly from the virgin eye looked about the same to me. My husband though really liked how GD touted how they were built better, stronger, had a factory pre-check of all working components, has great customer service, etc. We took our GD Imagine 2600RB on our maiden voyage last weekend... the middle support bracket on the awning came out..there was a leak coming from the bottom of the camper. This weekend was our 2nd outing. This time we had water spewing all over the bathroom cabinet and the bathroom floor. We had to disconnect the water, drain the system to get the water leak to stop and had no water for the rest of our weekend. We are heading out next weekend again. Wonder what will go wrong? This is so disappointing to say the least. GD- I have read many great reviews about your service. PLEASE HELP!!
We purchased a 2021 Imagine 2970RL on 6/30/20. This is truly one of the nicest campers I have ever seen! Spacious, beautiful, and a great layout. Best of all - Grand Design has the best customer service! I have NEVER seen a company that was so responsive to customers' needs. I would highly recommend Grand Design to anyone looking for a camper.
After researching many companies, Grand Design quickly rose to the top! Only company willing to provide me a tour of the plant. We absolutely love our 2017 Solitude 310GK and the outstanding customer service this company provides. Others we know have since purchased or are planning on purchasing one of the Grand Design models. You will not be disappointed!!
Dated: 6/18/2020 To whom it may concern, On 6/9/2020 My wife and I took possession of our new GD Momentum 381. Our Appointment was at 11am for our walk through and delivery orientation. I showed up ay 10 am to drop off our truck to have our hitch installed. At 1145 AM they were still not ready for us and proceeded to tell us that they had parked another unit to close and they could not open our slides. We waited another 10 min and they were ready for the walk through. We asked how we were going to inspect the party deck and its components and was told by Michael that after the walkthrough we could hitch up and check all that out. Gregg a service rep showed us the components of the inside and asked us if we had any questions. It did not seem to us that there was any organization to the walkthrough. In the main living space, my wife touched a vent control and it fell apart in her hands. The service rep stated that he would write it up and get that ordered. When we reached the bathroom, we noticed that the toilet paper holders for both bathrooms were not installed. We ask when they would be installed, and Rep stated that was our responsibility. We do feel that these should have been installed in both bathrooms prior to us taking possession. After the external walkthrough we proceeded to the finance office to sign our papers. My wife had to leave as our children needed to be picked up and this had taken longer than expected. I waited to get a walkthrough of the hitching process as this was our 1st fifth wheel. We had been previously told by Andre we would be giving a complete tutorial on how to hitch and unhitch and that we would not leave until we were comfortable. That did not take place. When I asked about the Party Deck and its components at the time, we were hitching up Michael said he did not know much and if we wanted we could wait until Gregg was off of lunch. Approximately 30 to 45 min . I could not stay any longer and they did not seem eager to assist so we took the unit home. Upon arriving home, we noticed that some door trim in the back-entry door was coming up and we took note. We loaded our bins of camping gear in the garage and took the unit to our Storage facility. I also want to add that the interior of the unit was not cleaned prior to us taking possession and in this current climate we also find this not acceptable. Fast forward to 6/18/20 20 we picked up the unit at our storage facility and brought it home as we were headed out today 6/18/20 20 on our Father s Day weekend camping trip with our family. My wife started organizing and filling it with our personal items. We started to notice more and more Items wrong with the unit. Please refer to full itemized list below. We reached out to orangewood RV via phone and in person specifically about the rear awning over the party deck that would not retract. They could not seem to give any guidance on this issue, and we could not travel with the unit in its current state. We reached out to a third party RV mechanic via phone and he suggested we look for the manual override or manual crank system. We finally found this info online on Carefree s website and we able to manual retract the awning to where is was safe enough to travel with. On 6/18/20 20 we brought the unit back to Orangewood RV at 8 am and Service rep stated we could still take it camping. We do not feel comfortable with taking it out on a long trip with the major issues that need to be addressed. We are sending this letter and list as a request for these items to be expedited and our Unit returned to us in working order so we can use as intended for summer camping. We were quoted 6 to 8 weeks by service and this is not acceptable to us as we purchased this brand new and although we are aware there may be some minor warranty issues some major components need address as soon as possible. List of Items to be addressed: sent via email as the character limit was exceeded
Really disappointed in GD customer service, which is one of the main reasons we went with this brand when shopping, because we had heard nothing but great things. Unfortunately we aren t seeing this great customer service we had heard so much about. Our unit is brand new, 4 months old, we full time and have only moved it one time. Last night our oven stopped working, we troubleshooted things and couldn t get things working. After calling GD we were told we could either bring it to a local dealer or get a mobile tech out. Obviously since we full time the mobile tech would be the best option for our situation. We were told the service call fee would not be covered. Before we bought our current 5th wheel we had a cougar by keystone, we had warranty work done by a mobile tech as well. As soon as all the work was deemed warranty keystone reimbursed the service fee, because it was all warranty work. After telling GD this they still said that it basically wasn t their problem and warranty work or not service fees will not be reimbursed. I think if a company truly prides themselves on their product and customer service this should be reimbursed if all the work falls under warranty.
Recently bought a 2020 GD Momentum 376THS. I ll start by saying that it is a beautiful fifth-wheel. Considering the cost for this camper, I would have expected better quality. The furniture in the living room is vinyl/plastic. No inside storage for jackets and shoes other than in the bedroom which isn t convenient. Would have been nice to have both blackout and sunscreen dual shades instead of just blackout. Has a nice pantry in the kitchen unless you want to install a washer/dryer. Then you d lose half if not all of the pantry space. Without the pantry, there s not much storage in the kitchen. The bathroom is tiny which isn t that big of a deal but the vanity sucks. Two doors, no shelves in either and no drawers. The rounded panel in front of the sink is useless. Maybe a little less deep sink and put a drawer under the sink. Only part of the shower door frame was caulked causing water to run all over the floor, we fixed that ourselves but it probably should have been noticed during a final inspection at the manufacturer before shipping to the dealer. We have the electric/gas refrigerator and that s ok except for the water leaking from the drain tray at the top on the back wall. Initially we noticed that the drain hose wasn t connected to the tray. We fixed that problem but we still get water collecting on the bottom shelf and in and under the produce drawers. Wish it had the residential size fridge but that s not the manufacturer s issue, it must have been the way the dealer ordered it. The outdoor kitchen area is unimpressive, very small, but that might be because of the garage. Aside from these minor issues, we do love the camper. We probably should have inspected it better ourselves before buying.
We love our Reflection. The design and quality surpasses all others we looked at. But more importantly we had a strange issue with a break on one wheel. We called grand design and I have to say I could not give this company enough compliments in the way they handled the entire situation. They had a service person come to us to examine the situation. After the determination was made they overnighted new parts to replace the defective one and all the other brakes just as a precaution. The repair company was outside the normal rv repair shop at a dealer, but grand design found a repair shop that expedited our repairs and had the work done on the day the parts were delivered. They truly took care of us and we're genuinely amazing. Usually companies try to escape honoring warranty work or it takes a long time to actually get it done, but grand design truly sets the standard for great customer care! We want to say thank you again for being a great company!
I have a real issue with grand designs warranty program. After only two weeks on the road we noticed a crack in the front fairing about 1.5 inches contacted grand design warranty and was assured that they would correct problem getting home and contacting a dealer for a fix took over a month to get an appointment so the unit is at dealer for a month and a half .now grand design is saying that the carrier who delivered 5th wheel from factory to dealer caused the crack. this is not true because I washed the unit twice and noticed the crack developing on second wash .grand design is not honouring their word of fixing the fairing. Might just have to take a different avenue and get lawyers involved .have owned many 5th wheels and motor homes and have never run into such a disheartening product from trim falling of to screws breaking on slides ripping weather stripping in half
I live in California but purchased my Reflection 27RL in Las Vegas Nv. because Mike Thompson RV didn't have this model. After purchase I have repaired 8 shade tensioners that are screwed into a 1/4 inch walls that don't hold. I glued Molly's in place to hold them. I removed my bedroom door and re installed it because it fell off. The hardware srews had pulled out My table pedestal was cracked from top to bottom. I took it apart and glued the crack and reinforced it and reinstalled it with larger floor screws. The landing leg pins came apart And the springs came out the back. I bought new / better ones. I glued and nailed 12 feet of loose moulding throughout the trailer. The moulding around the doors are glue on decals. Half of them are bubbled and not adhering. There were so many wood shavings in the heater chamber I took two hours to clear the smoke from the trailer on my initial heater start up. It took two weeks to get the smoke smell out. There is some smoke damage. Now to top this off we just finished our first dry camp vacation in the mountains. The water heater wont run on gas. I called Mike Thompson RV in Colton Ca. Who is 56 miles away but the closest for service. It took two days to finally talk to someone in service. Each call went to voice mail. No one got back to me. I finally demanded a person. They might get me in at the end of September. Almost two months. Especially since I didn't buy it there. Your dealers wine and dine you to sell you a unit but your followup service is unacceptable. This is a one star dealer when it comes to service as all his 4 dealers are. You claim your the best but your warranty service dealers are the worst. Your fit and finish is shoddy. Your no better than the cheap trailers. You just have nicer appliances. Yeah RV sales are at there highest but you can't even try to keep up with warranty service. This isn't just my rant. You see this everywhere. RV manufactures should somehow be held legally accountable for this terrible business practice. We should be able to take our RV's to reputable service centers that don't sell them. Class action anyone? I personally know of over twenty pissed off owners in my RV club that have the same problem. No, all aren't Grand Design. My trailer is nice looking but looks can be deceiving. Hopefully Winnebago will take more time. I doubt it.
Have only had our tor hauler for 5 weeks now. Do see some different between our old one and this one. Seen good reviews. Just hoping our experience will be the same.
I have changed my review of grand design from a 1 to a 5. Reasons are the issues we have had with the unit was very quickly and professional resolved by the team at GD. Unfortunately I took my frustrations out on the manufacturer when it should have been with general rv who is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Once you buy from general they stop caring. Thank you Jay, Emily and the entire grand design staff for your guick response and you caring about customers.
GD has techs here and sponsor these rallies. They really stand behind their trailers and have amazing customer service. We love our rig and the events.
We have owned our Reflection for less than 2 years and are ready to dump it at our local land fill. On our first outing, multiple small items didn't work, took it back to the dealership where it sat for 2 months getting repaired. Received it back, took it out for a 2nd outing, slide outs would not return to storage position unless someone was on the outside helping to push them in. Took it back to dealership where it sat for >6 months waiting on repairs. Received it back, slide outs move without assistance however they still don't close flush to the side of the trailer. Afraid to take it back, did I mention that the prior repair (waiting on parts from manu. took 9 months?) for fear on how long it would take to make those adjustments. By the end of the first year we were only able to take it out for 2 weekend trips. Since then, we have had it out on multiple personal and business trips, (all with the slide outs having a 2" gap, ) and have been reasonably satisfied with it. Now it is out again on a prolonged trip as a second home during a job. Temps reached 6 degrees and guess what??? The trailer froze up, yep that Arctic package is none existent. The outside water source was wrapped in heat tape, foam insulation and drum, didn't freeze. The hose feeding the trailer is wrapped in heat tape and foam insulation, didn't freeze. The "Arctic" underbelly however, frozen. Wonder how long the @#$% repair shop is going to keep it this time waiting on parts?????????
Words and tears cannot begin to express how much I hate my new solitude camper. The list of issues continues to grow. So far, grey water tank leaks, refrigerator leaks inside and within outside compartment, shower leaks, faucet broken, no silicon anywhere to protect center island, lack of silicon causes leaks in the window, switches to lights broken, convection oven does not work, outside kitchen locks do not secure properly, stain on carpet from carpet company sticker advertising no stain carpet left a stain (priceless), door does not close properly, theatre seats are free standing and shifting causing damage to window treatments, carpet in dinette area pushes so much on island causing damage, foot rest on bed keeps sliding out causing damage to dresser and so on. Our dealer has resolved some issues as well as my husband. We still have outstanding items. I can't believe the quality of this camper for the price point. I regret this purchase.
I have waited a 1-1/2 years after my purchase to rate this manufacturer. The perfect amount of Elegance and quality and comfort. The few problems I've had, have been dealt with to my complete satisfaction. Thing do happen, and things break. The difference between a bad company and a great company is how they respond to those problems. Grand Design has even replaced parts that are out of warranty. I would recommend this company to anyone.
I have been in RV sales for over 16 years. Thrilled to be a dealer for Grand Design! Highest build quality and best customer service I have ever experienced! Keep it up Guys!
Hot water heater pipe was loose, dripping in a place not visible. Was not known until major subfloor damage was done. Have been calling GD for over a week leaving multiple messages a day and have received NO phone call back. Can not get ahold of anyone. Trailer is only 1 year old and barely used. Trailer has been sitting at dealer repair shop for over 2 weeks, unusable. Dealer repairs for labor only were quoted at 200 hrs at $140/hr for $28,000 without materials. Almost $30k in labor (afraid to find out materials cost) to repair a trailer that was purchased for $40k. WORST RV experience of my life and will NEVER purchase a Grand Design and not recommend them.
We have a 2015 Grand Design Momentum 380th toy hauler. I love the looks and design, but the mechanics of the unit are not up to the standards they claim. We bought the unit new late 2014. We have had 5 hydraulic hoses replaced. 2 burst. One left us stranded as it went to the front jack. The other one caused both main slides to come in on their own with pets and child in the unit. Fortunately nobody hurt. And by this time I knew who to call for advise to get home, and it is not Grand Design as they will assure you the hydraulic lines won't burst, no matter how bad the line is bulging. Now air conditioning issues, several repair people say that is common. Lots of other little annoying things. Campers are expensive, and camping is supposed to be fun, not stressful and full of dissatisfaction.update 2017 we have worked through the bugs and after reading about other manufacturers I guess it is what it is. No problems on last big trip from Missouri to Yellowstone. I would buy another one but replace cheap Lippert hoses.
I'm considering a Grand design or a Rockwood 2606ws. I know that th e ROCKWOOD brand is the best on thge market but the Grand Design has the look. But after reading these reviews aboutvthe issues it makes me second guess Grand Design. From water tanks not holding water on hills to drawers to other issues makes me wonder if G.D. is concerned about the quality as much as Rockwood. Which are nade by Amish. Hummm
We met your sales person Tony at the Green Bay camper show. He was very knowledgeable. He actually asked me my desires in a travel trailer. He listened. He pointed out all the wonderful options that came in the Imagine line of your campers. He is definitely one of the main reasons we chose Imagine to purchase.
We have a Grand Design Momentum M350 we purchased in 2015 from Palm RV In Fort Myers, Fl. While we absolutely love our unit, there have been multiple issues with it stemming from poor quality control. We brought the unit home and within less than one day, all of the moulding had come off. The rubber moulding around the bed came off. At the base of the kitchen island, contact paper was placed over insulation. All of that has come off. The docking station leaked, the toilet leaked. We have a leak somewhere in the kitchen that we have never found and all of the wood has warped. The door latch to the bathroom has come off because it was improperly installed. All of the screws inside and out have rusted to the point I am replacing them one by one.
The biggest problem I have now is that both awnings are coming apart at the end of the awning. Customer care is non existent. I needed a new remote for my television. After four calls and speaking to four different service managers, one finally tells me he found out who sent the wrong remote and hung up. I get an email saying oops then get a remote in the mail. Nothing more, nothing less.
We are fulltimers and our unit is mechanically sound and pulls like a dream. I would just like to have the things wrong with it fixed or be reimbursed for the money I have spent fixing the issues myself.
My experiences of Grand Design Illusion 17MKE We bought this travel trailer due to good reputation of Grand Design products. The 17MKE fit our needs in every way. However, our experience has differed from what was the norm for this company. I will list problems and attach photos of a few of the issues. Most of our problems have been fixed but there are still a few that we are trying to get rectified. Of note the Grand Design dealer network in Missouri is horrible, which I will touch on later.
1. Water leak (drain) under kitchen sink. We fixed this with parts from home depot but notified Grand Design as this seems to be a common problem. 2. Faucet under pass-through storage developed a leak at hot water side. This was fixed with parts from Grand Design. They were quick in getting the parts to me after a little back and forth. I just wished I had caught this earlier as my compartment flooded, a tanks worth of propane was used trying to heat the hot water that was leaking, and I lost all of my fresh water. 3. Fenders developed cracks around screws. Parts were sent to me at my request have not got around to replacing yet. 4. Delamination of interior wall underneath front window. Fixed under warranty, leak was caused by a bad seal around window. Portion of paneling was cut out and new patch put in place. 5. Bubbles developed along front cap seam. Fixed under warranty. 6. Sealed underbelly came off due to lack of washers. This issue remains unfixed although Grand Design has said they will cover it. The first dealer, Coachlight RV in Joplin, MO (Three hour drive one way), did not fix this as they said it looked good. I fail to understand how my tape job and subsequent failures of my tape job make this issue resolved. Upon further questioning the tech said, he just glanced at the underbelly and did not actually take the time to look at the problem. Which led us to the second dealer, Youngblood Powersports in Ozark, MO (Two hour drive one way). We made and appointment and told their representative that we had a warranty issue concerning underbelly that needed fixed. They told us to bring it up 4Aug2020, which we did. Once we arrived they tried to gouge us for $200 for a diagnostic fee even though this was covered under warranty. Disgusted at this we left. So this issue is not fixed. 7. Roof has separated along seam in front. A five inch long gap has appeared above gutter on front side of unit. This issue was passed on to Grand Design but we have heard nothing about it.
We are extremely dissatisfied in the way this rv has had so many issues in the small amount of time we have owned it. We have now had it for about a year and four months. Warranty for most things has passed so now we are waiting for the next issue that will happen. Altogether, we have driven a combined total of seventeen hours, between dealers, with issues not fixed.
The customer service is hands down the best I have ever had. I have a bar for customer service and Scott McDaniel definitely crushed all expectations. The customer service is why we purchased, Scott is why we'll by another.
Great product, very stunning design! If the dealer weren t a 0 they would get 5 stars. 3 warranty visits and still minor things reported before first visit not done. Lots of promises never delivered upon!
We bought a 2015 Solitude in 2014. We have had nothing but trouble. Talk about a lemon!!!! The awning arm was broke when we bought it..that can be replaced. Well the first replacement arm was the wrong one. The next one is on and wobbles and howls. Sometimes we even have to help it get starting when rolling up. This is our third summer of use and it is still not fixed. Now they say it needs a new motor.
Our one couch broke the first time we used it......2 years ago. They just replaced it a month ago. We take it out and the 2 pieces of wood that we put under the couch to hold it up was still there.....and they said they replaced the couch. Called and they replaced again. We take it out and open the couch and there are tears along the side of the new couch. Not happy at all!!!!! They say they will have to replace again. Sorry but I think the service department had to see those tears.
The window arm broke and the screen is bent. That was pointed out right after we bought the camper. Finally got the arm replaced but still no new screen.
I could go on and on.
I actually hate this camper. Would love to be able to give back and get my money back.
Terrible build quality. They used to deliver decent units but anymore their brand has suffered from running production way too fast and non existent quality checking. Their stuff is utter garbage. Stay far away!
We had a great time at the Grand Design rally. It was great to see all the happy owners of a Grand Design Rv. We are on our second Grand Design Rv. And we have loved both of them. Grand Design is a great customer service company. We love our Solitude.
Got the first Imagine 2950RL that General RV got in stock. So far we love it. Floor plan and build quality is great. Toured the factory last year and saw this model being created. The tour was awesome and very impressive.
Stay away from any Grand Design RV product. I am fixing something every trip. Poor quality at premium prices. Buy another brand at a lower price and enjoy your camping without having to spend time repairing.
A few months ago I would have given GD 5 stars, but something has changed. I had an issue with a repair on my underbelly. After speaking to dealer it was in shop for almost 2 months because of a list of things. When I received unit back underbelly was worse. Dealer kept saying it was normal for it do be drooping so low. So...I sent pictures and videos to GD. Was told that it was normal, but told me to go take pictures of others at dealer. I spent a lot of time proving that something was wrong. If it had not been for a new service manager at dealer taking one look at it and saying yes something is definitely wrong, it would never have been fixed. Something GD should have been able to tell with pics and videos, instead I had to do the service check! Wish I would have been paid for the hours proving something was wrong! FYinsulation
This is s follow up to the review below. General RV in Wixom fixed the electrical problems right away through their KYC (keep you camping program). They were absolutely super - especially our service rep Robb Mackay and service foreman Keith Osbourne. Now we have to go back tomorrow for all the Grand Design workmanship problems to be fixed.
We have a brand new Imagine 2670MK. Used it 2 weekends before storing last season and at that time had the fireplace shift from it mounts, and TV didn t work due to wiring pinched. Getting ready for first trip and discovered multiple mouse nests inside trailer and cabinets coming from underside of trailer. Had to sanitize everything. Just getting back from a 5-day trip - first one for 2019. While we really love the layout and many of the features, we are truly disappointed with the quality of the workmanship of all the cabinets and mounts. Outside grill mount broke, converter failed leaving us dead in the water until we purchased a charger which had to be plugged in the entire time, exterior lighting didn t work, 3 cabinets inside separated from their mounts, TV piano hinge separated from the mounts, and sink drain piping snapped. Finding multiple screws and not knowing where they are coming from. Needless to say we are taking to dealer this week. Thank goodness for a warranty!! Slow down Grand Design and watch the quality of the workmanship please.
Late July 2016 I bought a 2017 Grand Design Imagine 2800bh. I recently learned that only 90 days after my purchase Grand Design released a well planned and advertised list of updates and design changes at the factory. They did so without changing the model year of model number thus none of these updates are found on my 2017 . Grand Design prematurely upped the model year ahead of (well known) major model year production changes. Thus, my 2017 is not a 2017 its really a 1:1 match for 2016 models. Grand Design offer me only a rear ladder to appease my concerns when there are a dozen easily updated items to be done, excluding the more significant changes. So, while I'm happy with my 2800bh I feel deceived by Grand Design.
