I was very disappointed. We were there yesterday afternoon with my children, we entered at 15 paying the full price and at 16 they started to close some animals and then close the park at 17. We didn't have time to see many animals. Not to mention the bar prices inside the bar ... by theft. I will certainly take my children somewhere else next time. A real delusion

Five stars for the experience given to our one and a half year twins, but less than two stars for the cleanliness, both of the bathrooms and of the picnic area and of the park in general - even the glass of the fences, dirty, makes it difficult to see through .
Even if this zoo is kinda small those animals were so active I think I have never seen so many animals so active in zoo. In my opinion they take good care about them or drug them
Regarding the fact that i was in rome, and we know that they have a good reputation in organising shows, i went to the zoo just in time for the bears feeding. Surprise. I was expecting a midget dipped half in honey and half in blood but instead they fed them with some fishes while the children had a good time watching. What a world we live in these days....
Half of the enclosures were very lacking, too small with stressed/pacing animals that could not access their hides so the public could see them. Guests were extremely rude and loud and tried touching/grabbing and freezing the animals. Witnessed guests trying to pick up meercats. Rest of the enclosures were quite nice with appropriate enrichment and space, otters, armadillo and rhinos had good enclosures. Big cats (leopard especially) gold and blue mackaws, seals/sea lions, elephants and zebra had awful enclosures. Witnessed female elephant hitting her head against a door and swaying for over 30 minutes.
Very beautifull!! We really had an exciting day! Too bad as usual the people screaming divas are required to whisper and dirty around despite the park being full of buckets ...
On a trip to Rome with your children you have to spend at least a day for them - so we decided to go to the Zoo. It was heavily crowded on that sunday - now i know where all Romans go to on a sunny sunday. But the zoo himself was a little bit a disappointment. I have seen many better ones. Funny things like just one narrow way up the platform to the giraffes for up- and downtraffic. Overcrowded pick-nick-stations and shops. Many animals only visible through a small place with a glass between ppl and the animals - where it's obviously not necessary. And ppl selling balloons in front of the zoo - and it's not allowed to take them in. Try to explain that to your 3 yrs old daughter?!
btw: hard to find the real entrance to the zoo - so plan some extra time an km to get there.
Went here today . My partner and I really enjoyed the zoo. The animals were great ,even to the point that they were showing off and posing. Great value for just 16.
I liked the park. Animals in general have room to move and appear to be well kept. Many points from which they can be observed. You have to be careful in the bar. A coke 3.50 euros and also the chinotto which is half and is marked at 1.5 euros
I must say that I found everything very neat and clean; a really pleasant visit, even if I'm not really a lover of these realities. Easily accessible and inserted in the beautiful context of the park of Villa Borghese. All in all a nice experience.
It was an amazing experience!! The most beautiful and interesting park I've ever seen! I strongly recommend to visit this place for everyone. Really kids friendly.
Well managed and well cared for. The paths to maintain social distance are well signposted. I've never been there, it was a pleasant surprise after a long time locked in the house. The rest of the services were unfortunately closed, I hope that soon it will be able to reopen everything in full.
Magnificent views of the old city. You can come up here using public transport and just sit back and chill as the afternoon turns into evening. Which is of course what we did after a busy day of walking from spot to spot. There might be a Gelato seller with his trolley to brighten your evening. Some other strange arts and crafts types were out in force that evening including a fella with a stack of metallic robots.
A zoo, or a biopark if you prefer, is always a place in itself a bit magical that combines reality with the myriad of fantasies related to animals. I must say that, in this respect, the zoo of Rome perfectly meets expectations. Being able to see animals up close that until then we had only been able to admire in films, cartoons or documentaries is a unique spectacle. However, alongside this aspect that certainly satisfies our hidden childish desires, we cannot forget that they are still prisoners in cages often outside, but a lot, from their usual environment (see the photo of the penguin ... how to pass by - 40 to +40 ...) and the impression that remains, at least to me, is of a strange sadness. Beyond this, not to be missed is the reptile house which offers a variety of relevant species but accentuating the above considerations. The general conditions of the animals seem very good but we are always talking about subjects behind bars. The freely spinning peacocks appear as a paliativi. Sure and probably, many of your children, or yourselves, could never have seen the white tiger resting at 42 degrees but perhaps it is the price that the animal world has to pay to be known in person. Having said how much, we visit the zoo to enrich our visual knowledge but let's not forget that seeing them running around in their environment would have been better.
It has changed a lot, new larger spaces have been created for animals. Well kept and clean, it was a wonderful surprise to see the two lion cubs born this year I really appreciated the opportunity to buy the particular plants, born in the Bioparco
Beautiful place, always well kept, only they should pass more often to remind everyone of the rules of social distancing, mask and so on .... because many people do not care ... especially foreigners. The speaker often remembers it but there are few who do it unfortunately.
It is always pleasant to go back, the only drawback, in this period due to the covid, tickets must be bought online. Despite this, there is a bit of a queue at the entrance because in any case because online reservations must be transformed into entrance tickets at the ticket office, accessible only by 2 people at a time. Otherwise, the animals appear to be in good health and the variety is quite remarkable. In each area there is an indication of the species and all its characteristics. There is only one bar inside
Immense park where you can visit many species of animals. Certainly on the day of August many animals suffered from the heat and were hidden in the dark (rightly so), I recommend a visit on cooler days.
Many animals are also kept quite well. The moment is special and many games for children were closed but they still had fun. Sorry for the carelessness of the vegetation outside the cages, that for humans to understand each other. In different positions they covered the animals from sight, in others they even covered the names of the animals on the signs. Sin
Very big Zoo, you need at least three hours to see everything. Not so great atmosphere, there's just few fast foods, and not much animals to see. Except part where are lizards, snakes and crocodiles, everything else is pretty much so so. Also it's expensive, kids paying just few euros less than adults. Can't recommend this really, except you saw everything in Rome, and don't know where to take your kids.
I have not visited other European zoos yet, but I was really impressed on how well taken care the animals are. They look healthy, have nice and bright fur. I loved it
A structure that has improved compared to many years ago and the impression one gets from visiting it is that there is a lot of care for the animals (on a very hot day they gave him iced fruit, there were fans for the penguins, ...). There is a lot of green, so much so that it does not seem to be in Rome and it is pleasant to walk in the alleys, with the peacocks that run free, even with their chicks. The area is large and doing things slowly takes a few hours to visit it well. The catering part is a bit scarce, but if you bring your own food you will also find tables and chairs to stop off, with some seagulls a bit pushy around. I found the bathrooms clean and there are various drinking fountains scattered around. Some area would need some maintenance, although I imagine the operating costs of this facility are high. It is not possible to enter with dogs (excluding guide dogs), scooters and bicycles (possible only if carried out by hand, if I'm not mistaken). Ultimately I would say to visit at least once.
The zoo is fine, we went on a weekday and it was very quiet. It's nice to wander in a zoo with very few people around. They probably knew this would happen, because a lot of the zoo shops/cafe's weren't open. Just one in the park itself and one at the entrance.
Good range of animals but I felt a little sad a few times at the sight of poorly kept enclosures, some of the animals looked incredibly fed up and I didn't see a single zoo-keeper.
Best xoo I've ever been to, theypack so much in and have the best viewing angles that I've never been dissapointed at any of the exibits. I suggest togo when the weather isn't perfect and wear light clothes. Italians don't even bother come out if it's drizzling it seems.
A really nice place. At the entrance, the rows are disposed of in an excellent way, therefore waiting times are short even in the most crowded periods. For the little ones it's fun. Definitely worth seeing the giraffes as soon as you enter. If possible from above it is really a beautiful sight. The penguin pool is another thing worth a visit. Then to make your little ones play, you will also find an ark-shaped structure with slides, hanging bridges and climbing.
Wonderful Zoo!! Great animals!! Wish they had 'Zoo Only' Parking because everyone in the area parks their cars there and its so hard to find a spot when the zoo itself is almost empty!
Obviously the animals are beautiful but above all some should be kept differently, it would take more staff even in the winter months for the maintenance of the greenery and the refreshment areas should be partly open. In summer a river of people the uncultivated green, badly smelling baths and full baskets; in uncultivated green winter several areas completely closed (when they could close to the area), some animals are closed or not there
A great little zoo, it has become tradition for my partner and I to go to a Zoo wherever we travel and were not let down by the Bioparco di Roma. In a beautiful setting, a walk through the park to arrive at the gates. Staff were all friendly and smoking areas available. The highlight for us was the reptile house, however we were blown away by some of the other animals as well. Food was expensive but not as much as other places we have visited, and there was a bit of a run down feel in some areas, but with works ongoing for improvements I hope to return one day.
A nice way to spend a couple of hours in Rome if you have time. It's a relatively small zoo and some of the animals have smaller areas than expected. Well worth a visit and plenty of shade if needed.
I want to rate this higher but I just cant. Truthfully this wasnt a fun experience. Alot of the animals looked frail and so skinny. Im a hippo lover amd went to spend time with them but seeing them looking so thin broke my heart. Some of the animals had more freedom than I was expecting which was nice but overall i left feeling pretty sad and desparate. I really hope it was just a bad week or something and these animals arent being underfed.
Not suggesting to anyone to spend money and the time in this place. Most of the animals are hiding ( not sure that they exist there) or sleeping. After 20 minites we wanted to leave. The place is disappointment.
We couldn't visit the zoo as we were quite late.. it's I till 7 pm on weekends and holidays during the summer, but the enclosure for reptiles and big cats close at 6pm. But the surrounding are great
