It was a waste of time:(

It was really fun visiting a zoo in a different country. You see mostly the same things but it was a good cultural experience. They had all the popular animals like the big cats, giraffes, elephants and bears plus an aviary, a reptile house and more. The penguin exhibit was under construction when we visited so we couldn't see them swim but most other things were open. The cages/enclosures seemed a little less closed off than in the US but pretty much everything else was the same. None of the food or drink was open while we were there which was a bummer. Entry was 15 and it took us about two hours to see everything.
PLEASE, DONT VISIT -THE ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING!
I dont understand how anyone with a heart for living creatures can give this zoo a good review. My heart breaks for the animals in there and I literally started crying when I was inside this zoo.
The area the animals have to live in is way to small and look nothing like their normal habitat.
They look so sad and you can see in a short amount of time that they have it real bad. They have repeated behavior - which is a clear sign of psyical and mental absuse. In this cases all of the animals have to small spaces, many of them alone and understimulated.
In the reptilpark the glass cages was SO small - and its really animal abuse.
Please dont pay money to go here! Had a known what Ive seen now I would NEVER had visit. I usually stay far away from this sort og places but my travelpartner wanted to visit since the reviewes was so good. We both were shocked!!
I feel so ashamed.
I wonder why animal activists in Italy havnt focused on this park! I dont live in Italy, but I will try my best to get in touch with some groups that works for the animals and inform the best I can. I just cant forget what I saw and my heart breaks. I couldt wait to get out of there but those poor animals cant!
I can understand that under covid if you do not buy tickets online you cannot enter (even with children who have come specifically from another region) but I do not allow even three seconds to enter due to bathroom emergency I find it not very human (3 year old) Disappointed and I am sorry to write a negative comment without contemplating the beauty of the park because unfortunately people in certain places make the difference.
The Zoo of Rome, where you can see many animals.Found it to be in worst condition compared to my previous visit in 2009
Great zoo, surprisingly large and a great way to spend the day. Very kid friendly!
Nice zoo with many types of animals and a beautiful environment!
Some reviews gave the impression that the stay was very small and the animals would have bad living conditions. Some residences could certainly be a bit larger, but bear in mind that it is a park of more than 100 years old, where they are working hard to renew things. We have not noticed anything of those poor living conditions. Yes, there were some monkeys with bald spots, but since I am not Freek Vonk or Martin Gaus, I cannot determine whether this has to do with the living conditions that would not be ok or whether we are dealing with a persistent allergy or something like that.
It was very quiet during the week, outside of the holiday season. Perhaps that is why there was no caregiver in the fields at the indicated feeding time with the bears, but it was a small disappointment. Twenty minutes waited in vain, but that have a whole collection bears pictures richer!
A young flower like me could walk around wonderfully, but with the many elevations, hills and stairs it is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking or have very small children. For everyone else;)
Its nice and big but the animals doesnt look healthy and happy
It's a zoo. Don't really like to see animals locked up
The park is beautiful. Yesterday, however, due to the too hot weather, many animals were hidden in the shade and it was difficult to see them, some not at all. The birth of the two puppies was published a lot but could not be seen
Many beautiful animals, but unfortunately none of the visitors had a mask and some animals live in unsuitable conditions for their habitat such as the snowy owl in a small environment without snow of course and the thing that upset me was that entering the reptile house the anaconda was clearly dead I don't know for how many days but it had been left there unacceptable
I don't like seeing animals in a different habitat but I have to say that at least once you have to go. The place is well maintained, there is so much attentive staff that keeps animals and commonplaces clean. The meal of the animals is to be seen, look for the timetables on the site. There are areas for picnic very nice and comfortable even in the shade and there are also bars, kiosks and an a la carte restaurant. You can also get water from the fountains to fill your bottles. In short, there is something for every budget. Take the little train, take a relaxing ride from a different perspective.
Beautiful park to spend a pleasant day. Wide variety of animals, well placed in their natural habitat that has been reproduced. In fact, the animals are at ease and I have not seen any particular stress situations. Nice peacocks that accompany visitors in different parts of the park, friendly and beautiful to look at (but be careful because they are hungry for food!). On the other hand, the seagulls that infiltrated the park tend to be disquieting especially during the refreshment break!
One of the most fascinating and cared for parts is the reptile house: a must see.
Excellent promotional price for admission throughout August
It was a nice day out me and my son had a good day lots to do there when you leave the zoo outsiders Segways and electric bikes you can hire to go round the whole Park
enclosures were out dated and inhumane. the enclosures need to updated for the sake o the animals
Place suitable for adults and children with pitches dedicated to rest stops and rather comfortable and well maintained picnic areas.
Excessive entrance and consumption prices, poor cleaning of the animals' environments, which generally convey the idea of little care and seem vaguely depressed. The indications and descriptions of the individual animals are not sufficiently appealing to the younger audience.
Small, fun zoo! I love seeing all the families walking around and seeing how the little kids react to the animals. People complain that most of the larger animals don't have space to run but I guess if they did then this zoo wouldn't be in the heart of Rome. The penguins and seals are fantastic and are worth the price for me.
Very nice and nice place. The only flaw is the poor control of the use of the masks in closed areas.
At the Bioparco in Rome we all go back a little. The animals are kept in excellent condition. They are cured. The refreshment and a sovenier shop are at the end of the path.
If you are in Rome the Zoo is the very best place to escape from the crowds, traffic and noice. It location is perfect for short walk in the park and then attending to the zoo. It is like you are not in a zoo, but just continuing you walk in the park. There a lot to see there. It is spacious and very beautiful. Don t miss the reptile house.
Animals neglected and kept in reduced environments. The Biopark is in a state of semi-neglect, between green areas out of control and old and poorly made buildings.
A really nice and cosy zoo. Large variety of animals - make sure to pay extra for access to the aquarium (you get to see Nemo and Dory - although they are not advertised as such).
Be aware that certain parts of the zoo close earlier, such as the reptile house.
That was fun ! Were on the spot shortly after 9:30 and were able to walk through the park quite relaxed. The Bioparco made a good impression, the staff was friendly, animals looked healthy and well maintained. It was really fun and the dwarf did not come out amazed. It did not even notice that we walked a total of almost 4 km through the park. A special highlight is the reptile house - at least for us.
A nice array of animals. Most of the enclosures are situated so you get a good view. A great place to spend an afternoon or a day. The reptile house has more than just reptiles.
Great wildlife at the zoo! Better conditions that some zoos I've been to but still hardly spacious for the animals. Heard some horrible cries from the lions after they went inside for the night :(
Very nice, very well maintained space. It has parking, cafe and souvenir shop.
Too bad for the hot period, cmq the animals very well looked after
Beautiful Zoo, Was Nice And Quiet When I Visited With My Partner, A Good Day Out With A Large Selection Of Animals.
It's not bad for taking a break and getting in touch with nature
It's a small zoo but we enjoyed the excursion. We walked all around the zoo, ran from peacocks, and ended the trip with a ride on the train around.
A wonderful place adapted for parents with children
Wonderful experience for young adults and for children.
Maybe it should be kept better ... but overall it is worth taking a trip with the children!
Came with kids found the Zoo closed never pick up the phone or updated their website really disappointed and kids too
This zoo was a lot more than I expected, I didn't think such a large zoo would exist in the middle of Rome. Lots of animals to see and it was very educational too. My favourite part were the seals they were so interesting to watch!
Very.good place to.spend your time in Rome with family and kids
Clean park, and animals seemed well taken care of, although some of the animals behaved apathetic, as you would expect when kept captive.
The annoying thing is how ill behaved adult Italians act there, loud and attempting to invite animals. Kids being loud is understandable, though annoying. But adults acting with little respect was unfortunately very common at this zoo.
Nice place .. but not all animals have the space they need !!
The bars ran out of water and the dispensers don't work.
Luckily there is some fountain here and there ..
Well conserved with many species. A very pleased day for families!
An amazing variety of animals, clean and well kept habitats, lovely place to visit, also watched the Hippo feeding, very pleasant
Closed the park due to 'bad weather' when it wasn't even raining or due to have a bad forecast.
Fair enough, but 10 mins notice is not enough, should have at least notified earlier so we didn't have to walk an hour there.
The Bioparco is an extraordinary place, appeals to children of all ages
Beautiful morning !! Enthusiastic children, due to Covid tickets only online, if you do them first skip the line
I hate the concept of animals in enclosures, but I felt that the Rome zoo is probably an important education tool for children and adults alike. While we were there, some Italian children were tapping on the glass window of the orangutan enclosure with their toy guns. Shockingly the parents said nothing. Aside from that and the incredibly bored felines, I didn't mind being there. It is a good activity for children.
Beautiful walk among the greenery and many attractions
Good selection of animals with reasonable entry prices - 16 per adults. Nice walk around the zoo with nice clear spots to see the animals. Friendly, helpful staff. It does have quite a lot of hills which may be difficult for some, but overall we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Lots of toilet facilities but could be slightly cleaner hence not the 5* rating.
I have been recently and it is very well organized, marked the distances to be kept and I have noticed many points for hand hygiene. The animals are well kept.
It s a great place to visit if you re looking for a quiet tourist-free area. The zoo is huge but nicely kept, all clean and well organized. It was really hot when I went there so I couldn t see all the animals as they were hiding in shade.
The ticket is 16 .
After Covid and various restrictions, some areas are still closed, but the zoo for children and adults always remains a pleasant destination.
Unfortunately it is a bit in decline.
Animals are often seen from too far away.
Let's say that for small children it is still beautiful but it could be improved.
The location inside a bourgeois villa is always fantastic.
However, it is a pleasant day with the children
Really wonderful! Too bad for the poor hygiene in the bathrooms, otherwise everything is really nice! There are so many beautiful animals and competent people who work with passion and dedication!
Well organized, a nice walk in a special park with many less known animals, all to be discovered. Recommended not only for families but for everyone.
Nice zoo, my baby girl ardore animals, so we coming often there. Negative thing nothing to eat just panini, so Bring food with you.
Great place in rome, lovely to relax and wander around when you need a break from the crowds
Old zoo with small, very small areas/cages for some animals
Nice zoo, lots of green areas and some of the birds live there freely.
Nothing spectacular but it is a nice place to spend few relaxing hours.
We went here on a Wednesday afternoon after a visit to the Borghese Gallery. It was nearly empty and very comfortable to walk around in. About 15% of it was closed for renovations. Possibly the least-smelly zoo I have ever experienced. It was a great way to spend three leisurely hours.
Great zoo but the lack of toilets in good condition even in May, good job i didn't go in the high season
Nice place but. I would take care of him a little more and have the train stopped
Beautiful place to take the kids and very nice also for bigger but to me being animal makes me sad to see animals locked in pens because I have to be free in their places of origin but I understand that animals are saved many times from Certain Death
If you are done with everything else in Rome, Visit this place for a change. Nice Zoo with limited area and at good location.
The exhibits at this this zoo were fun and informative. The animals seemed to be treated well, and there were lots of opportunities to see them in their enclosures. There were lots of trees which provided nice opportunities for shade breaks. Be aware that you can't take the rented bicycles into the zoo.
The Bioparco is great for adults and children. But in the Covid era, masks are worn. Too bad that not everyone wears them and there are few controls. So you find yourself admiring an animal and suddenly someone without a mask joins you talking loudly and you are forced to walk away. Why don't you call these uncivilized?
Fantastic variety of animals to see. I suggest you go early so you have time to see everything. Lots of restrooms available, but they could be better maintained... If you want to see animal feedings you must go at the weekend.
Surprisingly nice and well kept zoo in the heart of Rome. Great for children, but it is a bit hilly.
I had seen the Bioparco as a child and I didn't keep a good memory of it .. but I must say that now it's all one more thing ... to see .. so many animals .. shadow areas and picnic areas everywhere. Really nice .. I don't give 5 stars just because some areas were closed ..
Very nice biopark. The only drawback is that there are few refreshment places within the park. Recommended !!
A
mazing place
The park is organized in such a way as to offer spaces and climates suitable for the animals hosted. The choice to share the meal time with the animals at set times is very welcome: on this occasion, the attendant on duty offers explanations and tells anecdotes about the different specimens and answers questions from the curious. The penguin pool and the chimpanzee habitat are fantastic. Tender orangutans. The reptile house is suggestive and disturbing ...
