A zoo, or a biopark if you prefer, is always a place in itself a bit magical that combines reality with the myriad of fantasies related to animals. I must say that, in this respect, the zoo of Rome perfectly meets expectations. Being able to see animals up close that until then we had only been able to admire in films, cartoons or documentaries is a unique spectacle. However, alongside this aspect that certainly satisfies our hidden childish desires, we cannot forget that they are still prisoners in cages often outside, but a lot, from their usual environment (see the photo of the penguin ... how to pass by - 40 to +40 ...) and the impression that remains, at least to me, is of a strange sadness. Beyond this, not to be missed is the reptile house which offers a variety of relevant species but accentuating the above considerations. The general conditions of the animals seem very good but we are always talking about subjects behind bars. The freely spinning peacocks appear as a paliativi. Sure and probably, many of your children, or yourselves, could never have seen the white tiger resting at 42 degrees but perhaps it is the price that the animal world has to pay to be known in person. Having said how much, we visit the zoo to enrich our visual knowledge but let's not forget that seeing them running around in their environment would have been better.
