Went to the zoo today with my partner. We love animals so always tend to find local zoos when away. Due to the time of the year it was nice and quiet, easy to enjoy without too many people around/in the way.
We read the reviews before we went and despite a lot of reviews saying cages are too small and animals aren t looked after, I didn t agree with this at all. All the animals seemed to have a lot of space and looked well looked after.
I agree, there isn t a lot of staff about but that s likely just the time of the year! Most of the ice cream shops in picnic areas were closed but I feel as though they didn t need to be open as there wasn t enough customers around.
There is a good gift shop at the end and a cafe and sandwich shop.
Prices were reasonable ( 16 per adult) for the stay, we stayed for a couple of hours seeing all the animals.
Highly recommend if staying in Rome!
Definitely too many people ... No checks, gatherings everywhere and people without a mask ... What is the purpose of online shopping?
What a sad place! I went there after two years in Rome because my daughter wanted me to see it. I deeply regret having contributed to such a shameful structure. Three lonely zebras in a barren tiny area, two sea-lions going back and forth in their greenish water, bored-to-death bears and orangutans trying to cope with the scorching sun, and so on and so forth. When are we human going to stop to think that animals are just at our disposal and that we can move them from their habitat to where we fancy just to have them 10 feet away. This is so stupid, unresponsible and cruel!
The bio park in Rome is exciting every time I step into it.
Seeing almost all species of animals is very beautiful. And it is very clean.
Nice zoo, with many different species. The only drawback is the cleaning of the glass of the cages, to be improved.
Very big and lot of animals. You can enjoy toy train ride inside the zoo for extra cost and there is cafe and ice cream shop also inside if you get exhaust or feel hungry. Toilets are also available inside the zoo at no additional cost. At the end you exit through toy or souvenir shop.
DIGUSTING - DO NOT VISIT - DEAD ANIMALS ON SHOW
The rabbits and guinea pigs were disgustingly dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned in days. THERE WAS A DEAD GUINEA PIG LEFT IN THE PEN FOR ALL TO SEE (including children)
Reported it to staff who laughed about it. Made a complaint to the manager who simply said animals die and didn t care. In his words - it would be different if it was another another animal like an elephant.
Was refused a refund as apparently I was over reacting and it was subjective to be upset about it.
The manager also criticised me for not being vegetarian, claiming I was two faced for being upset about a dead animal and then eating them.
Beauty place but I don't recommend it on summer cause the animals seem to be sad, also they hide from the sun... It could be a better place.
Many animals, very large, with attention to the smallest details to recreate the natural habitat of each species. The reptile house is also exceptional
Its OK but nothing exceptional. No unique animals, no restaurants inside the Bioparco, one has to leave the ZOO to eat. Kids enjoyed the public feeding of elephants.
It was very hot day ,but we had lots of fun at the bioparco. Employees were nice and happy to help.I was so happy that they accept electronic tickets.Park is very clean, not so big but bigger enough to spend 4h there.
Today, October 26th, it was a wonderful day at the Zoological Garden: they were 25 degrees, like in the first days of September and in a few days it's November. ... I have to congratulate the director of the Bioparco: it was perfect, both in terms of animals and visitors. It was very clean, which is unusual in Rome. ..... go and see it, you will be grateful. ..... by the way, if you are 100% disabled, like me, you pay less: the escort is free, I paid 10 euros instead of 13. What luck, eh?
Layout was a little interesting, but they had great information at each exhibit and a good variety of animals. It was clean and we'll kept!
nice park, but definitely disappointed by the online booking system. Absurd that if you make a mistake in booking or have a problem, you are not entitled to a refund or to a date change, the fact is that with this system money is swiped at a glance.
Zoo in Rome. A very nice attraction to visit and to spend a very enjoyable day together as a family. Very pleasant, fresh air and in the hot scorching heat. A park with many exotic species (over 50 varieties of animals), from domestic animals goats, donkeys to tigers, lions, giraffes etc. The cake on the cake was the home of reptiles where there were aligators of various kinds, snakes, frogs, etc. Simply beautiful.
A great day out for my daughter's birthday. As always with kids, packed snacks and water makes it an easier day out as well as cheaper. The undercover giraffe area is a great place for lunch
A pleasant walk in a well-kept place is confirmed, with the utmost attention to the provisions of Covid 19 contagion prevention.
Each time is a new experience for me and my children
We support the Bioparco with our visits.
Nice zoo but it needs some updates. It tries to look like a bioparc but there's still work to do.
As a tip, try to get there at 9 o'clock in the morning. You'll have peace and quiet and you can enjoy the zoo at your own pace. You'll probably have to spend more time at the zoo to see all the activities done with the animals.
Over the years the animals have decreased a bit but on the other hand the spaces available to them have increased and their conditions have improved, albeit always "prisoners". However, it is always a way to bring children closer to the beauty of animals, with the necessary premises
A great place for both kids and adults to relax and enjoy. Nice place to bond with your kids. Specially those who are animal lovers like us.
Good variety of animals. Some of them looked lonely.
The only positive side was the restaurant with excellent dining options and really kind and helpful staff. Few animals and about twenty minutes before closing we were brutally sent several times to leave the bar, where the children were consuming the homemade ice cream, by a Biopark guardian with a card, which has not been seen for the whole day but it suddenly came up half an hour before closing, inviting people sitting at the Bar in high tones to go to the exit. Great train.
Beautiful place! The location near Villa Borghese is excellent, although parking can be a bit difficult on peak days. The place is large and offers the opportunity to spend a wonderful day with the family, entertaining adults and children. Lots of species of animals, the vast majority with a relevant area available. There are just a couple of flaws: the considerable cost (complete is 16 euros), and the total absence of kiosks in the park. Improved, but definitely a place to return to with pleasure sometimes
Very nice you see the animals only the tiger we have not seen .. maybe they were feeding him
Bellismo, visited on the weekend with a very reasonable ticket price of 15 euro, my kids enjoyed here a lot to see lot of animals
Small but cozy zoo in a very good location! Was reasonably easy to find although passing through Villa Borghese under the scorching sun was probably not the smartest decision.
The Zoo itself has an interesting selection of animals and we have a nice time, animals looked in quite good living conditions aswell. The only negatives were... the restaurant/bar being closed, and the only Kiosk in the very middle of the park wasnt very inviting and the optional, 3 fee, "alien fishes" exhibit was poor, we joked about it being a payed air conditioning tour.
Truly a beautiful place, which excites both children and adults ..
The animals are treated very well and each breed lives in its natural habitat. Walking through the park you will meet peacocks with their cubs and other breeds of birds.
There are areas where children can play safely and dining options scattered almost everywhere.
Due to Covid restrictions, tickets can currently only be purchased online, which is still a good thing, because queuing is avoided.
To go absolutely.
It is no longer possible to buy the ticket at the checkout and they ask you to buy it online in front of the entrance, creating endless files, people who are unable to purchase the ticket. I personally had Ip problems for having entered incorrect data, I called at the ticket office to ask for help at the ticket office (I had seen two people enter to get the reduction done which you cannot do online and if you do not insist at the entrance they tell you that you can't activate it) and they said it wasn't possible. The solution? I preferred to go away.
A good zoo, even if it is poorly maintained in several places, weeds, and many interactions with broken cages. Coronavirus cause many of the most interesting activities are unfortunately closed, but obviously it is not the fault of the park.
It is always nice to come back to visit the animals and significant improvements have been made despite the emergency, such as the space reserved for farm animals
Animals are not exhibited. The enclosures are large and wooded. This is a change from the usual parks.
Rainy day in Rome and New Years Day. The zoo option was great. No crowds, lots of shelter. Loads of animal photo opportunities.
Nice zoo with many animals and plants of various types. Well organized and clean with refreshment areas. Nice place to spend a pleasant Sunday.
Wie vieles in Rom, etwas verlebt und runtergekommen.
It is beautiful to visit .. The problem is that it is completely forgotten for both the services and the cleanliness of the
I don't give 5 stars because you can always improve ... I was there on August 2nd (Sunday) I arrived in a deserted Rome with the car without traffic and queues I parked in front of the entrance of the bio park ... very kind staff (not even seemed to be in Rome) challenging but very satisfying visit. Animals kept well and in shape ... shady path ... clean toilets ... normal costs for such structures ... taking it easy and seeing all the enclosures it takes about 4 hours!
When your child is taller than other child, he has to pay... 100% illegal discrimination!
Good for children and had many animals. I spent 1 hour and was enough.
Parking is a bit difficult in the weekend
Perche e tutto pulito, molto bello, animali molto diversi e ben curati
Beautiful boutique zoo, clean, friendly staff, affordable, great location, bus service and gorgeous animals.
Very good place. Animals are clean and healthly. Territory is big enough.
The Bioparco of Rome is a place to spend a wonderful day with your family and beyond, where you can live and savor the beauty of nature with its living beings.
I was for the first time at the Bioparco in Rome, I must say that I was very impressed by all the animals I saw. Very friendly staff. Obviously I recommend you visit it especially if you want to spend a different day with your loved ones. It fully deserves my 5 stars.
I visited Bioparco Zoo last month and was appalled by how distressed one of the Lions was. It was pacing backwards and forwards repeatedly which is a clear sign of boredom and distress. People were knocking on the glass and shouting, taking photos making the lion even more distressed. An animal of that size should not be kept in an enclosure of that size, it was far too small and inadequate as the lion was clearly not well.
I was also extremely distressed to see a 'lone Elephant' that was on its own in what seemed like a concrete cell. Thd Elephant appeared extremely bored and depressed with lack of stiulation from other Elephants and its environment. On the information board outside it even stated that Elephants are highly intelligent animals that live in large groups. This clearly was not the case at Bioparco Zoo. This Elephant had no companionship at all and was surrounded by concrete and no trees or grass. . The Elephant was very subdued and did not move the entire time I was there. The Elephants needs were not being catered for at all, a ver sad sight to see!!
I was ashamed to have paid and contributed to witness such large animals in distress.
Something needs to be done about these large animals to ensure their future welfare and to meet their needs.
Outside the Park are the large gardens, it's such a waste of green ourdoor space which coud be utilised for the much larger animals.
Best zoo in Europe, it's like entering a forest. To fully experience it, you must spend the whole day there.
Visited in August. Price of 10 quite honest, for the other 20 days it seems a bit high. In any case very nice structure, I would recommend to update the map that is given at the entrance, it has enough errors.
It is fantastic because children (and adults too) always discover and appreciate new things with truly unexpected expressions of surprise. Of course, seeing the penguins grouped under the vents to cool off is not very cheerful and, in general, the animals should be free at home .... but if there hadn't been the Bioparco in Rome, it wouldn't have been A Sacco Bello. ..
Zoo is amazing, hidden gem just outside the city centre. Animals look well cared for.
Nice selection of animals, but really crowded and overpriced entry.
Very bad !!! Uncultivated, very full (luckily there is the covid!), You don't see an employee to ask for information, inadequate and sunny picnic oases, very poor food services, non-existent signs !! All this makes the condition of those poor animals visibly frightened by the chaos and rude behavior of the people even more sad. Better a documentary on TV: much more pleasant and instructive. Never again'.
Very nice well kept. You walk almost entirely in the shade of majestic trees. A must see for young and old. I advise.
Place that looks nice but unfortunately you have to book tickets online.
A nice variaty of animals in this park. The park is nicely laid out.
Bad place in every way. Would not advice anyone to go there.
Bella mattinata per grandi e soprattutto piccini. Ho passato una bella giornata con mio figlio, nonostante le necessarie limitazioni per il COVID 19, il Bioparco offre spazi tali da potersi godere una bella passeggiata soprattutto durante More
Lovely little zoo. clean. Decent cafes. Animal enclosures are sort of small but pretty nice. Animals seem happy and healthy. It's not very big but you can spend half a day here easily. Lots of parks for kids. Great reptile house! 100% recommended. Plus the surrounding park is fantastic. Great day out in Rome.
Great place to spend a day in nature with your children and more, the animals and attractions are well maintained, make yourself something to eat at home and bring a packed lunch. There are eateries, industrial and expensive things.
Great park! One of the best places to spend time with children! And very clean unlike the rest of Rome! On weekends, you can see the feeding of animals (the park brochure indicates at what time someone will be fed).
The bioparco is the ideal place if you have a free half day, perhaps to spend with the family. The entrance ticket costs 16 euros for adults, with a map of the park. The park is large, fairly well maintained, there are also refreshment areas and PicNic inside. There is a great variety of animals, and the nicest thing is that peacocks and other birds are free to move around the park. The big cats and aquatic animals made me a little sad. Their airfields should be larger, and penguins in June seemed a little suffering from the temperatures. On weekends you can also observe activities done with animals at certain times.
The closing time of google map is wrong. It closed at 6pm, not 1930
I ve never been to this zoo, but it s a zoo. I like zoos.
Hot day, many suffering animals, many did not have a chance to see them, or closed wards or animals hidden by the heat. Expensive bar and no exposed menu.
Nice zoo, good size
Well condition
Interesting animals
This Zoo is from 1912 year but its awsome very nice place to go with kids!
We found out that it is something like a leisure to go to this zoo for roman kids. Take sandwitches as this place doesn't have a proper dining place, that's why 4 from a tourist. But a better prepared visitor would definitely give 5.
Really amazing zoo... me and friends go their last year we enjoyed a lot!!! really wana go again
Good selection of animal's nice way to spend a few hours, only bad bit was we got bitten by bugs
Good for a few hours and the entrance area is nice but most of the park was pretty run down. The reptile house was great.
Lots of fun with the kids. Tons of animals, a lot to see and do. A nice day out with young children
Small Zoo in a great location. Not a huge selection of animals but it was OK. We spend some time with the kids and they enjoyed it. Not a "must see" but good to relax during a cultural visit to Rome.
Really enjoyed the zoo early Monday afternoon. Especially the reptile house was great.
