Was attending a conference in the area and this hotel was a nice walk to the venue. The beds are comfortable and the room is very clean. The check-in process was easy and you get a complimentary cookie. I would recommend the breakfast it has lots of variety and was very nice. I wish the rooms came with a bottle of water but thats my only criticism. Staff is friendly and helpful and a very convenient location.

The hotel was out of bottled water when I checked in, but promised I would have water for my stay in the morning. When I came back to the hotel after work the next day to collect my water, they informed me they were still out of water. How hard is it to send am employee to the store for a case of water to accommodate your guests, instead of just telling the guest you're out? Customer service is not that hard.

Great location if you want to catch Broadway shows, do some big-store shopping, and have an unlimited Metro Pass to visit many other parts of NYC -- this hotel is just blocks away from it all...yet far enough for some peace and quiet when you want to sleep. (However, I'm originally from New York so walking a few blocks is not a big deal to me. Some people who want the hub-bub of Times Square right outside your door may prefer another hotel.)

We had a king room with a great shower (no tub), a small desk to get some work done, and a small amount of floor space. It's great for a couple, but you'd probably need more room for a family. While the in-room coffee is iffy, the free cookies are a big plus. Overall, it's a great place to stay if you simply want a clean room to rest your head, and basic amenities to clean up from your day's adventures.

Rediculous experience. Arrived with a pre-order night at 10 PM, and they were overbooked. They put us in a taxi and sent us 20 minutes away to a different hotel farther away from where my conference was. We asked for a cup of coffee and/or water....nothing. Let alone a cookie! All I wanted was to get into bed.

Update: when we got to the other hotel, they gave is a room with one king bed instead of a room like I reserved with two beds.

I asked both hotels to get us a room with two beds, a second room or a rollaway. They did NOTHING!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!

We visited NYC for the first time this past weekend. The hotel is located very close to Times Square, Empire State, Central Park; it was all within walking distance. Room was clean, bathrooms as well, the bed was very comfortable. Everything was working perfectly fine for us. The complimentary cookies were nice and warm. Now the staff was beyond WONDERFUL! They were very welcoming, very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive! We got around NYC very well thanks to them. Richard (Bell Service) and Thomas (Guest Services) stood out the most. They were so friendly and knowledgeable. Gave us step by step directions to anywhere we had to go. I have to say our stay here has been one of the best experiences we ve had with a hotel. All the staff was great!

The staff was nice and accommodating, however the A.C. did not work, after 2 attempts to let the staff know, the engineer never showed up. The humidity in the city was high, slept 2 nights very uncomfortably.

Location is good. Not at the heart of time square lights but close enough for a 16min walk. Some construction near by so no view or anything spectacular. Still a great hotel inside is clean and workers are friendly. Rooms are small but to be expected in new york. Well worth the money at 167 per night.

Compared to the comparable Homewood nearby, this place is dated. Normally that's fine, but there's a lack of investment in the upkeep of the room. When you spend $540 for a single room for a single night, you would expect it has a remote, the TV is in one piece, the thermostat is backlit and responsive, the fan in the bathroom is not obnoxiously squeaky, the bed is not literally up against the air conditioner.

Also the photos of the gym/"fitness" center are not accurate, and are false advertising. Contrary to the photos it shows, there are no free weights, and maybe 4 cardio machines and some medicine balls. Part of the reason I picked this gym was because of the fitness center, and I had to spend $21 on a day pass to Planet Fitness instead.

Otherwise, the bed was clean and comfortable, the A/C did keep the room cool, water pressure/temperature were fine.

The +$10 "midtown" view is alright too if you're high enough but it's not worth spending extra on.

The Hilton? Psst! It was more like the Hollywood Tower of Terror minus Mickey and Goofy. Listen, upon your arrival, to this establishment you will be charged an unannounced surcharge of $45 when you go to check in (which may or may not be included on your invoice when booking online). So beware!! On the other hand, if you're trying to dispute this charge before checking in and allowing the hotel to officially charge your card. The staff will laugh in your face and insult you as though you are a child. The good news! Sarcastically speaking, management will offer you a cookie as a kind gesture just to shut you tf up. But, that's not all folks! The rooms and corridors are extremely small. So, if you re Claustrophobic no worries just stare outside your hotel window facing a brick wall to ease the tension. And if that doesn't work just glance above your head at the crack in your hotel ceiling. (*Exhales) Namaste.

However, PUMP THE BRAKES! The cocktails at the hotel bar were cute and because they were so delicious it kind of made me forget about the craziest at this hotel. And how unprofessional the management at this establishment was. Until it came to checking out (we literally had to walk down 16 flights of stairs because the elevators were taking forever) and things just got worse. On one staircase there was a bag of trash left awaiting for clearly a guest to trip over and crack their skull. And oh how original one of the doors (that we thought was our exit) had no doorknob. Heed my warning! Just get an Airb&b and call it a day.

Stay Away!! This Double Tree should not be allowed to have the name. Its a Filthy Dirty hotel and the are out of everything you ask for. One of the elevators even seemed like it slipped while we were in it and fell down a floor or so. It scared the deal out of everyone in the elevator. The hotel is under staffed and is not and shouldn't be called a Double Tree. Stained carpet, stained comforters, filthy hotel and out of everything you ask for. Can't believe Double Tree would allow this hotel to use their brand. Stay Away From this place!!!!

I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. As far as NYC hotels go, it's inexpensive. Obviously the rooms are pretty small but ours was clean with a nice, modern looking bathroom. My sister and I shared a queen bed (that looked more like a full size but oh well). The staff was great! They were helpful and friendly. The front desk even gives out free warm cookies. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

My overall stay at this hotel was "okay". Upon arrival the bellhop, whom remained VERY pleasant until we left, greeted us outside AND inside the lobby. As I checked in, I was offered a delicious cookie for my husband and I (who doesn't love free treats)! But, as soon as they ran my credit card it declined. All funds were available. After running the card for FOUR different totals, the funds were removed from my account but my card still declined. They cleared me to get settled in my room and to come back later and try. The room was pretty decent. Aside from the bed sheets that did not seem to fit (if I rolled over the sheets would come undone). I was only given one wash cloth but two drying towels. The refrigerator was also not quite cold, but there was no point of complaining. I left to enjoy the city (which was RIGHT around the corner :)) and figured I would come back and try my card. They tried to process y card while I was away only to have it decline again. Of course, being that they had removed the funds earlier. The supervisor kept telling me "I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you want me to do". Well, of course I would like for you to return the funds. After a "LOVELY" time trying to return the funds I was able to have the funds returned to my account and the transaction went through. All-in-all, I should have chosen a different location for my festivities.

I left personal and very sentimental childhood items tucked away to find they were gone when I returned. A small teddy and a small pillow. I'm 15 years old and I had those things since I was like 6. The first day I returned and they were exact where I left them. The next few days I realised they were gone. The workers claim they were taken by accident with the sheets, then failed to get back to me about retrieving them again. Just terrible. Otherwise, the rooms were tiny. Some of the service was good. Just a horrible experience for me.

It is a good hotel, economic compared to others in the area. It is very well located in the south of Manhattan. The problem is with the check-in, it's too late but at least you are allowed to leave your bags until the scheduled time.

The place is alright, clean. However we had a room which the thermostat was not working and they were doing maintenance work on our floor well through past midnight. The lobby smells like straight up cigarette smoke. Location is great though, so close to port authority & penn station.

The building and the rooms itself are nice. Unfortunately I can not say that about my check in experience. One of the employees switched our reservation from a double bed to a king bed the night before. The manager was no help and if anything was trying to cover up the fact that there was a mistake. My friend had to call Hilton to get the issue resolved. They did. If it wasn't for Hilton all three of us would be stuck in one bed. Will never stay in a Double Tree again.

The hotel was exactly what I needed for this visit to NY- well suited in mid-town Manhattan and within walking distance to the garment district and further north to Times Square, Central Park and St. Patrick's Cathedal. Lots of convenience stores nearby.

Very nice hotel for the price range. Sinks in the bathrooms are those raise bowl types with the faucet being a goofy thing. But the rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our rooms tv didn't work right but that was a small thing as we weren't there for television.

The room was decent and clean, air conditioning worked well. It wasn't very large so can't rate it 5*. The bathroom was oddly 20deg warmer when it's door was closed. The sink faucet had a crack which was causing a small puddle on the counter every use but the shower was nice, clean and worked well. The staff was very nice and helpful. Docked a half point because the tiny elevators run a strange scheme, bypassing your floor just based on the call order. It took 5-10min to get the elevator one time. Probably because they are so small

Tiny DoubleTree located directly down a few blocks from the Javits Convention center. Staff just as amazing and friendly as any Hilton hotel I ve stayed at. Minus one star for every single day ice cold showers no matter what time we tried to take one.

Terrible customer service, multiple rooms either had broken cooling units, small rooms, and generally not up to Hilton standards. One of my team had to change rooms in the middle of their stay - unacceptable. My receipt was totally incorrect and I was overcharged - no resolution. Overall, find a different property to stay at.

Had room on 15th floor, king size bed and a nice big shower. I was taking the girlfriend to New York to go to some bars to celebrate her 21st. The kind gentleman at the front desk in honor of her birthday give us a card that gave us free access to the breakfast buffet. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very soft and comfortable.

Stayed here for two nights. Had a clean and quiet room. The hotel is very conveniently located very close to Penn Station and the ACE line. Biggest negative comment is that the hotel has 27 floors and only two small elevators so I often found myself waiting quite a while for the elevator. Had the breakfast buffet both mornings which was pretty good but nothing over the top
