Great value, but this hotel gets a lot of wear and many of the rooms need renovation. I stay here a few times per year because the location is perfect for doing business meetings with the Wall Street firms. Staff service is excellent!

The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. However, if you are a coffee drinker, like me, you'll be disappointed that they don't offer an in-room coffee pot. No coffee in the lobby either!
Excellent location situated literally on top of a subway station. We got a room with a decent view. The decor is modern though a bit worn down. I would definitely consider starting here again if I return to New York.
Superb location with immediate access to the Subway. Close to popular tourist destinations. Typical room size for New York City. Rooms are somewhat outdated and in need of minor repairs. Heat did not work properly in my room and it was incredibly hot. However, this seemed to be an isolated problem and not hotel wide.
We stayed here one.sunday night for private party. Price line gave me a deal for $109 wasnt bad but the shower head was.floppy.I mean come. On a four star hotel???
We reserved a room for 3 nights through Expedia. We arrived early and asked if it possible to check in early. They said they could but we would have to upgrade our room to a king. The upgrade would have cost $30 a night extra but they offered to only charge for 2 nights and give us free wifi on top of that. We agreed. The room was nice except for the ceiling. There were signs that the paint was bubbling due to water intrusion. The exhaust fan in the bathroom also did not work. It was pretty quiet on the 16th floor. The only thing you could here were emergency vehicle sirens. The front door was pretty thin. Anyone walking past the room door while talking could be heard on the inside. I assume people could easily heat through the outside as well. Pretty good location. 10 minute walk to Rockefeller center and 20 minutes from Times Square. The subway is literally next to the hotel. I would stay here again.
Room was ok, but they charge you 15 bucks a day for using Wi-Fi in the room. Honestly, I would expect more from DoubleTree as cheapers hotels just offer free Wi-Fi.
The location is great. The rooms are acceptable, but nothing special. My only issue with the room is that I could not get the room temperature below 74 degrees.
Rude front counter staff, by rude, Im referring to her tone of voice and facial expression. Why did she go to the front counter if she didn't want to take any customers. I stood there and none of them said 'next customer please', decided to walk to her counter and that's what I received. Treating me like a 3rd rate citizen. I received the same treatment from 3 different staff. One was quick to shut me off when I was enquiring about wifi issues. Didn't even listen my explanation and just gave me a note with promo code.
On the brighter side of things, the guy in charge of handling traffic at the hotel loading area was nice.
Location wise, it is good. Just beside the subway.
Rooms wise, it is clean. No weird smells. Things are clean.
Bed, pillows and blanket are comfortable
The toilet bathtub is very dirty though.
Upon checking out, I met a nicer person. At least it ended pleasantly.
Excellent stay for the neighborhood and price. Very affordable, there was no hassles. Our room was freshly remodeled, everything was clean. The bed was firm but the pillows were like sleeping on flat tires. I recommend you bring your own if you can. The restaurant in the hotel is good but, of course, its New York so go out and see, eat, and enjoy! If you must dine it you'll get better then average hotel fare. There is also a bar, good place to start up with a drink while you wait for a cab or just to meet new people. There is a metro stop at the corner and another on 53rd. We had the pleasure of having a street fare on Lexington, right in front of the hotel, on Sunday so that was an added bonus. Not sure if its a regular event.
Old. Old. Old. Our room had a broken door to the balcony. The carpet was ripped in 5-6 places. All the furniture was old and worn. There were paint stains on the carpet. The bathroom was tiny, which was weird because there was a second very large wardrobe, which I think was bigger, not sure why they don t get rid of that and make the bathroom big enough to open the door into it? TV reception was fuzzy. Room was too dark, as there wasn t nearly enough lighting. This is a hotel which needed a refurb about 10 years ago. Do not bother. Stay anywhere else.
Had a great stay here for my first visit to New York! Central enough to have easy access to all main attractions, yet also allows space away from the madness too. Done just what we needed it to do. No room service but we never needed it, So all good.
Was in a nice area If you re looking for expensive shopping, everything in the area is expensive. However one of the women s at the front desk was rude and not helpful. You have to pay for every little thing ( including a 25$ breakfast) << which was not good on the food end ! the AC in the room didn t work the next thing I know a man had came and brought a box fan . The shower nozzle was rusty and dirty , the tub was scraped and scratched . The siding of the tub was moldy and very dirty.
Excellent location, you can move everywhere you want really easy! Rooms are kind of small but their fee is also small so no complains about that. There's no restaurant there, only a bar, so don't expect a lot of food options either, good thing is that you can buy a lot of things outside
Seriously disappointed. Only one staff member was even polite. Bathroom was in rough shape. Paint peeling off the door and lots of water damage on ceiling. Mold/mildew all over the shower. Carpet literally fraying away about 1/2 where it meets up with bathroom tile. No USB plugs in the room.
Great location, super convenient to the subway and walking distance to nearby attractions. Rooms were clean. Only complaint was the room was overly hot. But cracked the window open and problem was solved.
I m reading the reviews and the responses from the owner, and I m baffled. The owner constantly replies that they will work on this and address that, but everything is still the same. I just attempted to check in and the entire process was disheartening. As a diamond member, I must say, I ve never seen anything like this. Vicki at the front desk, was rude and uninviting (there s a better adjective to use here, but I m trying to be professional). Brian, the Bellman, was an absolute jerk. Pardon my expression when he stated it was $1 to store my bag and $1 at pickup. This has to be the biggest scam I ve seen in awhile. I ve been here for work for 5 weeks so far, have stayed at 4 other Hilton properties in the area, and no one has ever charged a storage fee. As a matter of fact, this was my first time ever being charged a storage fee at a hotel. I asked them to charge it to the room, and Brian responded cash only...sketchy. I looked around to determine if I was being recorded for a tv show or something. I can only imagine how things will go once I return to the hotel, pick up my water from the restaurant bar (another 1st), and arrive to my suite. Pray for me.
I was disappointed with this hotel experience. If you're paying $200+ a night on a hotel, you'd expect it to be on the same level as other $200+ hotels in the area. My TV was broken for the first night and it was repaired while I was out. They are doing renovations in the bottom level and there was no mention of this when I made my reservations. The bar was temporarily moved to a back room that's past a nail salon that has a back door that shares the hallway... Very sketchy. There's exposed drywall in the main lobby that detracts from the decor.
I've stayed at other Doubletrees and intentionally chose this hotel over others because I've had good experiences with them in the past. Sadly, this is not up to par with them.
I also have a problem with the Doubletree/Hilton website as they don't let you contact them to leave feedback. Instead the only option they give you is to make a public complaint. I'd have preferred dealing with Customer Service regarding this.
This is quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever booked. I had to run down to the front desk 3x with luggage for them to understand that when I request a room not connected to another it doesn't mean change my room to one that has 2 connecting rooms. When I did finally get the room requested the TV didn't work and they had to send the hotel engineer (wasn't able to fix the problem) and ended up calling the cable company. Do yourself a favor...find another place to stay.
This hotel is one of my favorites in Manhattan. The location is really close to a lot of popular areas such as Times Square and Rockefeller Center. There are also a lot of convenient stores around the hotel like CVS, Duane Reade and a cafe. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and everything was very clean. They also give you a cookie when you check in!
Pretty standard DoubleTree hotel. In a great location with the Subway nearby but there is a Police and Fire station nearby which can be an issue on lower floors. Would definitely stay again...
The location in respect to Rockefeller and Times Square is insane! Rooms are what you'd expect for a mid-range midtown hotel in terms of size. The room was clean adequate and elevators were not bad. Was upgraded a few floors for an even better view. Service was the best! The staff here really aims to please. Breakfast was great. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Baggage handlers were really nice to my kids. Highly recommend! Will stay again! Perfect for a holiday vidit to NYC!
A good downtown hotel right on Lexington Ave. Great location, good breakfast but rooms are a bit small, dated and dark for my taste. No coffee maker. Staff can be more courteous. A little smile will not hurt anyone but it can sure make experience better.
We're Hilton members, which I suggest becoming if you travel a lot. We got warm cookies at check in. And we took the continental breakfast instead of the 1,000 points. Continental breakfast includes hot bacon (good) sausage (good) eggs (gross) pancakes (bad) and assorted baked goods (good). There's also a full breakfast menu. Don't go across the street for a black coffee at Starbucks. The Hilton serves Starbucks. We also have complimentary wifi. It's clean and comfortable and the view from our room is nice. The king room is large enough but you'll need to pay extra for a mini fridge.
It's a nice hotel in a very convenient location (Lexington Ave.), for a reasonable price, thstd true. We stayed there for two weeks in the holidays, but it seems that the overall feeling though is one of frugality, not to say miserliness. They wouldn't put any new soaps until we had none, no matter how little we had left or how used it was. Good luck to you if you're trying to catch an elevator during the 'morning rush hours'. We were staying on the 10th floor, most mornings when we tried to go downstairs the elevator would stop on every single floor, being unbearably packed and crowded. And of course, if you have luggage, well then, prepared to spend a while before you'll be lucky enough to get one where you'd fit in with your stuff. These small things make a difference, especially if you're staying longer then a couple of nights, but I suppose the the advantages will probably outweigh the disadvantages
The DoubleTree is not good but not necessarily bad hotel. Located in a comfortable spot on 6 train and just a 300m (1000 feet) walk to the E/M trains. It is also good distance to Central/Bryant park. The rooms are old fashioned and some element may be broken (but working). We expiriance some noise from corridor and next rooms - but not somthing worth complaining about to the front desk. The staff were nice, but it was the first time I heard of a 2$ (for bag) baggage charge (for leaving it there for couple of hours after checkout).
This hotel is newly remodeled! The rooms are very nice. They boast up-dated furniture, accents, Dish TV, a safe and a spa-like bathroom. The only down-side I could find was there was no coffee pot in the room (usually standard in most Hilton properties).
Rude staff small rooms charges fot everything some even twice....check your bill clisely. Good restaurant s nearby...hotel restaurant is breakfast and lunch only.
