The rooms especially the bathroom are very small for the price. The staff was very friendly until the last day when both of the front desk ladies were very rude during separate occasions. Great location though.

Very clean and comfortable. Needs a renovation in bathrooms as I have found mold on the walls and even the door. Also, you cannot control the air/heat in your room during certain months due to temperature.

For a quick trip to NYC. Nice Modern updated rooms. Close to subway, literally on top of one. Lots of food and Parkin but FYI pay for paying with the hotel .. it is pricey to park in NYC . Otherwise it was a lovely hotel , we enjoyed our stay

This hotel is not worth it! I would give their front desk staff negative stars if I could. The person who checked me in was rude. After staying a week, I go to the front desk to check out... While standing in line the one of three agents at the front desk who is even looking up says she was still doing something so I had to go to another agent. They finally looked up to help. I did not realize that I have to ask to be helped versus them asking if they can help me. I must not understand how service works. The hospitality staff does not care if the Do Not Disturb sign is on the door so they come in anyway. The shower drains slow so you stand in 3 inches of water while taking a shower.
I travel extensively and stay at Hilton Properties exclusively. This is the worst one I have stayed in for quite some time. Stay at another hotel if at all possible. I have stayed at other hotels within the city with much friendlier staff. Courteous treatment of guests is not a priority here by any stretch...

I am a diamond member and I stay at Hilton hotels for almost 300 days out of the year for the past 8 years. The basic issue I have with this hotel is the complete lack of service. I have dealt six front guest representatives over the past four days and all have been abrupt and rude with me. I had to piece three reservations together due to business and they could not figure it out and became annoyed with my situation. I understand that they are a high level hotel with a major turn over but the idea of customer integrity and service have never seemed a part of their agenda. I would never stay here again.

I only stay at Hilton hotels. This DoubleTree is the worst Hilton property I've stayed in. Customer service is pretty bad. The front desk refuses to answer the phones if it's busy, even when a guest is calling. I had to go talk to them face to face. I was told by a Maryln that their manager instructed them to not answer phones if the desk has people waiting.

On the third day of my five day stay there was minor construction taking place in the room next to me. Drilling and hammering.

Newspapers apparently are only free when you check in. You have to ask. After your first day you're directed to a gift shop to buy papers. Gift shop is supposed to open at 0700, but the woman arrived at 0708 and casually opened at 0711. I decided to just go next door to buy a paper.

Three of the nineteen floors are called "HHonors floors". There's a Hilton Honors badge outside each room on those floors. What other than that makes them special? I still don't know. There was no complimentary water given and no mini fridge in my room.

This hotel is located in NYC, so the room was expected to be shoebox size, but I didn't expect a size 6 shoebox. The room was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Times Square and that regular room was much bigger. It was more expensive as well.

The one restaurant is overpriced, more so than I expected. There's a Barber Shop and currency exchange. Lobby is pretty big. A grocery store is next door so you can buy the bottled water not given by the hotel, even for Honors members.

Overall I can't recommend this hotel to anyone. I'll never stay at a DoubleTree again. I don't think DoubleTree is deserving of the Hilton name. My advice to anyone considering a stay here is to look elsewhere. Even if you have to spend $20 more per night at another hotel it will be well worth it.

Expected more. My room was hot and the thermostat didn't seem to do anything. Called for maintenance and they said a/c for the building was off and suggested I open a window. Restaurant hostess was just rude. I suggest you just walk around the corner for a much better dining experience at a way better price. Cookies were good.

Guest services are horrible, rooms and property in general are run down and poorly maintained when compared to other hotels in the area. Unfortunately when something is mentioned, nothing is written down, just a sorry and onto the next guest.

Nice hotel and typical accomodations for an NYC hotel. Doesn't seems as busy as hotels in midtown, even with events going on. Plenty of great spots to eat and drink within walking distance.

Water pressure was not good. Bathtub become clogged even when I didnt use the shower. Water would come back up, and when it would go down it would leave left over residue from the pipes on the bathtub floor. Vent was dirty and crumbs were in the draws. Not the cleanliness of rooms.

Similar to others here didn t find out we had to pay to store our bags not pay to retrieve them until we were getting them. Quite the scam. And clearly despite other people nothing this and the hotel using a stock reply they don t do anything about it. Our room has a large chunk missing- no efforts to cover it or anything. Definitely dated. Check in was slow and didn t find anyone particularly pleasant. Even their cookies weren t very warm. Had to ask for internet access despite being an honors member. However it was priced reasonably. Definitely won t be rushing back anytime soon.

Edit- when we were leaving we asked for a cab to the airport and found out that the hotel has a shared driver with other hotels. It was so convenient! I highly recommend asking for her name before you come to get a ride to the hotel and back! Same price basically as a cab for us too! They should certainly advertise this more!

We spent a few days here while visiting new york. It is in a very convenient location right next to a metro station and at Ealing distance from Times Square. The rooms are big and clean. There is free wifi internet access only in the lounge. However we saw that if you connect your phone when you enter the hotel you will remain connected also in your room (at least up to the 11th floor)

I've been staying at this property for the past 3yrs. The service is great. The rooms are always clean and very generous sized. There is never any late night commotion in the hallways. The best part of this property is the location. The neighborhood is in close proximity to a wide variety of restaurants, bakeries, Starbucks. Also within walking distance to many landmarks such as St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center.

Very poor service

Very poor service
1. To the hot water at the counter, you need to wait at least one hour and three reminders to ask for it.
2. I will overcharge the tip and charge for the future baggage. When I collect the baggage, I will collect it again, and I still need to wait for a long time.
3. Cleaning the room is not true, the garbage is not really clean.
4. In the winter, it is unacceptable to send ice cream and put it in the refrigerator. Finally, it is a warm milkshake that is warmer than the outside temperature.
Very poor room
1. The bathtub is rusty and old enough to know that it must be an old building.
2. The temperature of the bath is between 20 and 70 c. It takes half an hour to wait for the hot water, and sometimes the water temperature suddenly drops. Very bad bathing experience.
3. The room is very small, a large suitcase is enough to fill the room, the second one needs to find a way
4. Insufficient room equipment
Location can
The only thing I think is acceptable is the location, next to the subway.

In short, this trip has lived in three general restaurants arranged by Hilton and four travel agencies. Whether it is service or room, this hotel has left me from the myth of the hotel brand, and evaluation may be a better choice.
PS. It is recommended that google give a rating lower than one star.

Horrible for a Hilton it lacks everything from room services to descent customer service. My husband was called to check in after a long wait and was told to go back into the line. OMG what a bad hotel. I m sorry it does not look like the Hilton is aware of all these discrepancies. Very disappointed . And house keeping lacks as well. Don t book this hotel.

I dont know about the hotel standards here in Manhattan but my expectations were a bit higher. The room was dated and there was a lot of noise from the outside, like from the AC units?
Update: I returned for one night stay which I had reserved before flying back home and I got much better room this time with much less noise. Adding one more star, Thank you for responding to the feedback!

For the price, this might be one of the most disgusting hotels in all NYC. I would NOT pay more than $29.99 a night to stay here. It is a dump. The wood is rotten, light fixtures falling out, doors/windows don't close letting sound/hot air/cold air in, the building does NOT allow the heat or a/c to be turned on unless THEY feel it is hot or cold outside. It was so damn cold in the room, I actually got sick. The bathtub is dirty. The lighting is awful, its dark and depressing in the lobby, hallways and room. The staff is rude and unwelcoming. The curtains are worthless .I could go on and on. Do NOT stay here!!

Fair price, let me check in at 8am. Room was decent sized, everything was pretty ok. Nothing fancy. Cracks in the walls and a paper thin door. Rust in the bathroom. Asked for a shaver didn't get anything for an hour and I left.

Small rooms but not tiny! Very clean, very efficient. The location is #1 though. Right in Midtown Manhattan, a walk away from everywhere you need and a handful of subway stations nearby.

The service was not as good when compared to other hotels by Hilton in New York. When I was checking in, the staff told me to wait in line because they were chatting with one another !? There was no one in front of me, and there were other front desks available at the time. So, I was waiting in an invisible line, waiting for them to let me check-in after they finish their chat?
The most unfortunate part about this hotel is the luggage policy ($2 per luggage to be stored when the rooms are unavailable). The other Doubletree hotels I stayed at gave free luggage storage. When I asked them about this policy, they gave me a response that was not acceptable. They responded that they had been doing this for 13 years and the money was for the bellmen. So, they were stating that the hotel takes nothing from the luggage policy?
This might be the worst hotel by Hilton I stayed in the world.

I stayed in this hotel in August 2013, and brought my cat with me. I was moving to the city and needed a place to camp out that would accept me and my cat. The staff was very accommodating for my cat. They cleaned the room each day (except for one day), and ensured that my cat didn't escape in the process. On the day they didn't clean, the housekeeping staff left a note explaining that the cat had become very agitated at the cleaning crew, so they left a note for me, with a set of fresh towels. Overall, not their fault, and they went above and beyond to write a note.

The rooms were reasonably sized, and the interior was modern and updated. The lobby staff wasn't very friendly, and that's sad -- I usually expect a little more from hotel front desk staff. The subway access here is great, it sits right on the 6, and is a quick walk to the E and M lines. Overall, this hotel is a great value for those who wish to stay in Manhattan, but not pay the highway robbery that occurs down in the Times Square area.

My only major qualm was the lack of free WiFi in the rooms -- you have to go down to the lobby to get FREE WiFi.

I went very badly with the reception staff. Very unfriendly and rude all, the oriental, the Latin, the black, all! They do not collaborate, they always have a bad face! And the suitcase types just as unfriendly! Nobody knows how to smile in this hotel !!

Good hotel as you would expect, but one less star because you come to expect free wifi at most places. This hotel gives free wifi only to HHonors members who have booked their stay through their app.

For a midtown DT in NYC I felt it left just a little to be desired. Complimentary breakfast would be better served at a Hampton... At least you get a warm protein. "Nothing in the metal tins"... Die glad I spent my points on a breakfast I literally walked out of as soon as I walked around and saw what I was "aloud to eat".

Very basic hotel in great location. Lobby was small and overcowded. Check in and check out had long queues and elevators were really dodgy -only 1/4 worked and many people seemed to take the stairs (fed up of waiting) - yep all 14 floors of stairs.

I checked in this hotel which has decent reviews but the room has many issues.
1. Room are outdated, small and not clean to the level of a 4 start. I would rate it 2 stars.I checked out immediately.
2.i want to mention also that management was not very accomdating to a refund and rude.
**You have been warned. Stay away from not well managed hotel***

I loved this hotel during my stay! The location was so perfect! You have food all around you, the subway to one side, Walgreens on the other, everything you need is within reach by foot! The beds are very comfortable (never wanted to get up!) and the staff is helpful. I will make sure I stay here again and I recommend it to anyone, from families to solo travelers!

Perfectly fine place, it is clean and that's what is important to me. Lifts are a mystery. Great location next to subway station for easy travelling round. Loads of breakfast options within stumbling distance. Only gave it 4 as I'm British and no kettle in the room is not good...we need our tea!

This hotel behaves differently than our experience...

This hotel behaves differently than our experience with many, many, many hotels and Hilton properties we stay in every year. In today s internet review climate, it takes a bold management philosophy to clearly provide only the bare minimum for their hotel patrons. Examples of poor management and bulk hospitality experiences abound, and I only stayed one night. Example 1: self parking as is described on both app AND website is absolutely NOT available - a point asserted very strongly when bringing my car to the garage. When I explained that I m here to self park, the attendant said, Only I park the car. When I agreed but explained I prefer to ride with him as he parked the car, he said, no - no one goes into the garage. I had to acquiesce because I had a work appointment in 30 minutes, but it was a complete lie that self parking is at all available. ***Example 2: as a Hilton Diamond Member, staying frequently, and being an extremely light sleeper, I always book and arrange in advance for a room on the top floor, so no one is walking around above me. Checking in at 1 pm, it was explained to me, rooms on that floor are not ready yet. I said, no problem, please reserve a room on that floor for me, and I ll be back at 6pm to get my key to the room. At 6pm when I returned, there was nothing available on the top floor, so I was given a room on the floor below (sure enough, noisy people above woke me up several times through the night, including 5:30 AM). ***Example 3: As a Diamond Member, I am afforded breakfast included in each stay, and they only provided one breakfast pass even though I checked in with my associate, and listed their name on the reservation. ***Example 4: the included continental breakfast featured a selection of pastries so stale, it was clearly put out day after day, and was inedible.

There were definitely some pleasant people who worked at this hotel - but so many more acting frustrated and unhappy, as if guests were an inconvenience, that I now understand the reviews by others that I had doubted when I chose to stay here. This is clearly a hotel run by spreadsheets only, and they fill their rooms not with word of mouth and fond memories of a good experience, but with contracts with airlines, etc. With so many places possible to stay, I strongly recommend you stay somewhere else.

Excellent location- subway is right beside the hotel, there s a pharmacy just opposite, and many food options around too.

It s a very busy hotel, but check in was pretty fast. Received the usual warm cookies upon check in, and the front desk was very welcoming. The room size is surprisingly big for nyc. At least we were able to open up our big suit cases and still have plenty of room to walk around.

The only part about the room that I did not like was that the bathroom ceiling seems to have some paint falling off - not too much of a problem since it did not happen during showers, only noticed it in the morning over night. Ran out of shampoo as they did not replenish when room was being refreshed.

Everything else was good and we were very satisfied with the location. Will book this hotel again if we visit nyc again!

The check in process was awful...had to wait in line only to be told our room would not be available for an hour. Checked our luggage ($12) for the hour. Did not get the room we were promised. Low staff, rude.
Room was dirty, shower ended up flooding bathroom because of inadequate shower curtain.
Had to leave a day early on an emergency but could not get a refund. Desk staff was rude. I found the hotel, on the whole, to be inadequate and very rude. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We frequently visit NYC and have never had this with any other hotel.

The place is pretty run down and not very clean. Trying to get a copy of the folio a week later is impossible! Unlike most normal hotels where the front desk helps you, here you get sent to Accounting hell hole where no one ever picks up the phone and you get stuck in the phone maze. A typical Hilton experience, I guess - I despise this chain...
