Rooms extremely small. Don't take a shower too long or the whole room will start sweating. Don't sit in the lobby too long or security will HARASS YOU! Ac doesn't really work. I wouldn't recommend this place ever!

Very clean. Stayed here a few times, and the neighborhood is great. Right out of the bustle of Times Square, but still close enough to Theatre District. Also has great restaurants nearby.

Not fond of the Double Tree I feel all hotels should be the same. I've been a Hilton Honor Member for year's and lately realized that the Double Tree seems like it's brand. Do your research before traveling.

Very good location. But can never be a 4star hotel. Elevators take an eternity. No fridge in the room. And the worst, everytime someone walks in the corridor, it feels like it is inside your room! Very bad insonorization...

I have stayed here a number of times. The rooms are basic but clean. The front desk staff are exceptional especially given how busy this hotel always seems to be. When the rate is less than $150 I think you are getting your money s worth. Over $200 and seems less than worth it.

Had a great time in NYC, but the hotel was a massive let down. Upon arrival the room wasn't ready so we had to pay to store our luggage at $1 per item (and the same price to get it back). They also charge you $200 at the desk for incidentals - why they don't take a swipe of a credit card is anyone's guess. The rooms are really shabby and tired - nothing like the pictures! Disappointing after a long journey! They need a revamp. The furniture is worn and marked, our bathroom door was falling apart at the bottom with damp from the shower, the bed was like a marshmallow and it was generally dusty and unclean - i could write my name in the dust on the bedside table! No shaver ports either which was bizarre! I'd strongly advise staying elsewhere. The bellboy staff are friendly and helpful, but I feel the hotel is very poor. Disappointed!

Hardly a 4 star. Everything has a cost, WiFi, breakfast, no coffee maker in room. Bathroom tiny, room with no privacy as door to hallway directly on bedroom. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Really a poor 3 star. Hilton should dump this property.

Great location and the customer service was a plus as well. Close to the metro and a lot of other convenient shops such as food, banks, shopping, etc. The rooms were quite small though. Only downfall about this hotel.

Hotel is nice and much more affordable. However, lexington avenue is far away from main venues like Times Square. You will need to walk at least a mile or two to get back to hotel from main attractions. It's fine if you plan to pay $12 for a taxi to get back.

The hotel clerk was really friendly and helpful. The room was average. The ventilation and bathtub drainage were a big problem. There was so much condensation on the walls and ceiling after showing; as a result, the moisture was dripping from the ceiling.

There was no coffee, or indeed anything to eat or drink besides water, in the room. The bar was pretty expensive. The elevators were very broken while I was trying to check out. The only good experience I can point to is their "welcome cookies", which are frankly a sad attempt at rescuing a pretty lost cause. Admittedly, there are worse hotels in this world, but I expect better from a place like this.

We stayed here from 27 September to 1 October 2018. We were able to check into our room a couple hours earlier, which was great but basically went downhill from there.
Our room stunk like pee and cigar smoke. The lobby has a disgusting cigar smoke smell- or maybe it s a dirty mop smell- regardless it s gross. We had to call housekeeping after being out all day to come and clean the room. When we plugged the iron in behind the desk, we found a pair of black dirty socks- we left them there- how long the had been there is anybody s guess.
No complimentary tea or coffee in the room, no small fridge in the room, no
complimentary WiFi - in this day and age this is standard!
The 4 porters in the lobby were basically standing around doing both but talking with
each other every time we saw them. Not once did they help anyone with luggage or even opening a door!! I was walking with a cane and not one offer of help- not that it was
needed- but the fact is no offer!
All in all pretty disappointed for a Hilton- would never recommend or stay there again.

Very basic tiny rooms. In the winter they blast the heating on. But you cant control it in your room. So the rooms are like a sauna. Never been in a hotel before where you cant control the room tempurature. Outrageous. No kettel in room either. You can call for one though!!. Very busy hotel.

The check in was terrible. We were discriminated against by an employee who told us we did not have a reservation. He refused to speak Spanish. Then we learned that if he spoke Spanish. He had an hour without resolving. Finally when he saw that I was wrong he did not even apologize. For the Latino, the reception service is discriminatory

Hotel was in a great location. Room 1038 is where we were put. The bath plug hole & surrounds were rusted & and in need of repair or replaced & the shower curtain had a bad smell. Advised front desk so hopefully they will see to it

YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY HERE!

YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY HERE!

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. For the price, it was not worth any hit and I could have probably found equivalent accommodations at an Econo Lodge for $40.

To start, we arrive at the hotel about 2.5 hours before check in to store bags with the bellman until 3:00pm. The bellman refuses to accept the bags, even though I have to pay for this service, until I stand in line and validate my room is not ready. So we wait, 56 minutes, to talk to the front desk agent. When I attempt to check in she literally laughs in my face at the question of if the room was ready. It was not. The agent then takes my card and DL, writes down my contact number, and commits to call when the room is ready. I walked away feeling like I was getting help. FALSE. We never receive that room ready call, and the hotel is not equipped with digital key in the HHonors app.

It s now after 3, no call, no app notification. We rush into the hotel because we need to get ready for the show we have booked weeks in advance. THERE IS A LINE LITERALLY OUT THE DOOR. At this point, I am standing in line on the streets of NYC trying to get access to a room that I came for nearly 4 hours before. If you re asking yourself why didn t he just get in the HHonors line? they don t have one. 90 minutes pass, it s finally my turn again. I m greeted by a woman in panic who, along with everyone else working the front desk, was overwhelmed by the events taking place. I share the experience and she tells me it s my fault for thinking they would call, that only happens when the rooms are ready early. At the least, we get checked in.

It s important to note that I did use the mobile check in option on the HHonors app the day before arrival, selected my room, and committed to the stay. You would think the keys could have been ready at the least right at 3pm.

We arrive on level 14, signs posted everywhere that say HHonors Floor, get to the room and there is even a HHonors Room sign above the room number. I m feeling good about the choice now. I shouldn t have. The room was disgusting, the floors and baseboards appeared to not have been cleaned in easily 6 months. The bathroom door was severely water damaged, there was no venting system, and the desk tops had some weird liquid on them throughout.

All in all, pay a few extra bucks and stay at the Marriott or W down the street. You ll be happy you did!

Wish they had negative stars. These guys charged 100 bugs for breakfast when we did not even go the restaurant.

At checkout I even protested but they removed the charge. As soon as I left the hotel they charged my cards. Thugs.

Its possibly the best priced hotel in the area. The rooms are comfortable and clean, they do have a few things to improve, like no fridge, no water, or some old bathroom furniture, but the staff is really nice and the place has a great location. Its right beside the 6 train, and 8 blocks from Grand Central. It just far enough from times square that you wont suffocate from tourists traffic but can walk there in less than 10 min.

Very disappointing

Very disappointing
Yet accustomed to hotels, I absolutely do not recommend it.

Very rude staff except the housekeepers.

Small room, no mini bar, no water on arrival, tiny bathroom, rising water in the bathtub, stained carpet, etc.

We ask, well upstream, a room on a high floor, we are given a room on the 3rd!

The only positive point: the location.

Rooms are in serious need of updating. This is apparently a major layover spot for the airlines. Large groups of pilots and crew keep the lobby congested. Seems management doesn't know which end is up. The simplest questions seemed to cause problems.... not my best New York hotel experience. Can't recommend it and probably won't stay here again.

too slow and uncertain service. the line is always busy for question or service, so I mostly had to ask at front desk directly. great location to access upper broadway and central park with rather calm environment due to slightly away from timesquare, though.

The room was well decorated and had a good time there. I love Hilton Honors band was luckily upgraded to a King. The lobby and all public spaces very well kept. Al though the room was a little warmer than I would have liked and thermostat had issues.

Stayed on one of the Hilton honors floors. Clean room, and courteous staff. Air conditioner didn't work but maintenance showed up five minutes after my call to fix it. Was surprised at the worn out look in the bathroom, such as warped door with cracking ajdnpeelijg paint.

I've stayed at this Doubletree several times and I'm not a fan of it. It's in a good location and is very busy. The staff are fairly polite and very efficient at handling the crowds and most concerns. The rooms need to be seriously refreshed. I've stayed in the regular rooms and during my trip this week, I stayed in a Junior Suite on the 18th floor. The rooms are "worn down". I get it, it's a busy hotel which services a lot of folks...and I certainly get that experience during my stays!! Then there's all the little things. The breakfast vouchers only cover part of the continental breakfast offering; there's an up-charge if you want any of the hot meal options from the continental breakfast table. I couldn't find an executive lounge and was told there wasn't one. You have to get your bottled water for your room from the bar with a voucher (not sure why they aren't already in the rooms like every other Hilton). While these might seem minor, it's all these things which wear down the overall experience. In my opinion, the biggest knock is the worn out feel of the rooms.

The hotel looks nice until you get inside the rooms. We had to switch rooms because ours smelled of mold. Once we were in the next room it was dingy and run down.

The reason though for the one star is because I am a nursing mother. After we checked out but was waiting for our time to fly out I asked for a space to pump. Office, nook, really anything and they said they couldn t accommodate me at all so I had to pump in the front lobby.

Very old rooms and staffs are grumpy. Amenities in the rooms are basic.rooms are small and towels smell. You can see in the pictures that bath tub is broken. Seriously?? Yes..front desk staffs are like favouring you being there...no one approach you to help unless you ask for it...as a guest i was hesitant to interrupt their conversation(gossip and chit chat nothing related to work or something serious) when they dont even bother to look at you..they ignore you as if you are not there. Only one lady on the concierge or travel desk near lift was with smile and had customer service attitude. They talked to you as if they are commanding you..it was not only with me..i notice it was with most of the guest..I will never stay here again.

Given the location and price, I expected a much nicer hotel. Its run down. It's primarily a stop over for flight attendants. And the bar staff are remarkably rude. I stayed for seven nights. I won't stay here again.

It's surprising to find a hotel that is a chain in New York and feels unique, but this one was a great experience. Upon check in, you receive the Doubletree cookies-- that are warm! The location is great for exploring the East Side.

Descent hotel. Friendly people at front desk and restaurant. Very helpful people. Overall everything is okay, just little old. Wall is quite thin and no heater provided during cold weather (9-12 degree C) in late April.

I brought my 7 year old to NYC for our first time there the weekend of June 26th. We stayed here for the weekend. The hotel and room were amazing and the staff was very friendly. I truly enjoyed my stay and it helped make my son's trip memorable.

worn and dirty furniture. Too expensive for this hotel worthy of a 2 star. small room. Quite pretentious customers crossed. Neighborhood awful view of the room. there is better and cheaper on Manhattan. I go to NYC often.

Room is good. Bed and pillow very comfortable. We didn't find fridge in our room but received it upon request. Also most important thing it's at a very good location everything nearby and within walking distance.

We checked into the room and the a/c was on 73 degrees....felt like 80. So we left the room to look around the city for about 7 hours, came back. The room still was hot, we called the front desk andntheybsent someone to fix the a/c...the guy replaced the dirty filter.

The air didnt get any better, so thru out the next day we called the front desk and informed them 5 times that we need it fixed and they didnt fix it...finally that night they moved us to a bigger and better room and the a/c worked great.

That was the only wrong thing.

Overbooked and sold my room to other folks. Been sent to another hotel 4 miles away in downtown now it is 3am. I booked this hotel so I can be near it during my stay in NYC for 2 nights. It seems like I am not the only one. I need to go back up to midtown on my own dime in 5 hours and then recheck in my luggage.

What is the point of paying for things in advance if you are not going to get it ready for the person who paid for it. In my book, that is stealing. I would give zero star if I could.

Seems like I am not the only one with the trouble.

Below a city hotel, do you feel more than a business hotel?

The hotels location is very good, very central with lots within easy walking distance.

However the hotel itself is very tired and could do with a major overhaul (based on our room and the furniture and decor in the lobby). The carpets were frayed and worn. The air con in the room was very warm and the bathroom had stains and paint scuffed off surfaces. The wardrobe was tiny and looked like a cupboard where you would keep your vacuum cleaner and the safe not secured to anything.

Other notable issues are if you are not a member of the Hilton club they will attempt to charge you $15 per night for Wi-Fi access in your room. Why? This is the first hotel in years that I have stayed at (and I've stayed in a lot) that has attempted to charge for such a basic service. I was eventually given the free Wi-Fi code after an exchange with the reception staff, most likely to get me out the reception. The Wi-Fi also went off line for a number of hours so thankfully we didn't have to pay for this non-service. They also charge you a fee for keeping your bag after check out if your flight is later as ours was. This amounted to $2 per case which is so low that it makes you wonder - why bother? Again I haven't had to pay for this sort of service in so long I now cannot remember ever having to pay.

The rooms are very basic to the extent that there isn't even a fridge in the room. Something you come to expect from even the most basic hotels. The hairdryer was full of dust and there was no shower gel - just a soap and a tiny bottle of shampoo.

The door staff of the hotel were lovely and friendly but the reception staff seemed more geared to impressing the numerous parties of airline crew who checked in each day.

The two stars for the review are mostly based on the hotels location as there will be hotels in a similar location that offer basic services like Wi-Fi, fridge or bag storage for no fee.

New York is a fabulous place to visit but the next time we go we will make sure we are not in a Hilton hotel as the hotel was the only negative aspect of our stay.

Location is perfect, the rooms for New York are absolutely fine. Bathrooms are relatively new, despite the small entrance area no waiting at the lifts. All major attractions are within walking distance (Rockefeller, Times Square etc.) and with the free Hilton HHonors you get a cookie and free wifi. Rooms are also quiet.

Rooms are run down, dirty, not properly maintained. The shower was so disgusting that I wouldn't even use it. The carpet does not meet the walls leaving a perfect home for bed bugs, and greasy hand prints on the wallcovering.
