Worst. Most receptionists have rude manner. First they mess up my payment and insisted that I had not yet paid. Which they find out, after a thorough checking, that I did. Second, they also insist I book a room without breakfast... which in my confirmation bill I paid for both the room with the breakfast INCLUDED . The manner and the attitude of the receptionist just make my stay here very unpleasant. Rude.
Gym is really bad, equipment does not work , TVs broken, do not recommend this hotel and service in general NG
As above, I'd say this hotel felt more of a 2 star rather than 4. Though perhaps standards vary from country to country. The room was basic with table, chairs and beds. It came with an air con but with no option to turn it off so we had to buy ear plugs as it was too loud. The bathroom was nothing special, very small and had a shower curtain which became damp smelling and are very unhygienic, though it did come with some toiletries though I would come to expect this of any hotel. The TV was the worst! The quality looked around 480p, it was very fuzzy. Majority of the remote buttons did not work, and they were slow to react, there was no way of viewing a TV guide as it only gave you a channel list, and finally the signal was not great. On our 3rd day we never had our bedroom cleaned and replenished so had to call down to ask them to do it. Finally, we had to call for more toilet roll a couple times as we never had enough for 3 of us and they never brought up enough - they were very slow to bring it up as well meaning we had to end up using box tissues for a while.
For a 4-star, I'd expect luxury (better furnishings), added extras (maybe chocolates on the pillow?) and quick service.
I would recommend this place, providing you go in with a lower expectation, as value wise it's not so bad.
Some of the staff was amazing and some were shady. Someone tried to make me pay to hold my bags for more than the agreed cost before (6 bucks is the cost, he tried to get 4 more dollars out of me). Thank god the last guy i worked with helped me out. The cracks in the doors are visible in some rooms. Anyone can look in. Walls seem like they are paper thin. All in all not the best experience in double tree's but not the worst in my opinion (might just be the new york hospitality). Located by the train station is a big plus. I can take you to time square or to the empire state building within minutes. Cookies are always a plus.
Well located, clean, friendly service, comfy beds but problems keeping temperature comfortable in rooms (way too hot), not possible to make coffee in room, no room service.
Very central, midtown. Clean, comfortable. Skinny hall and very slow elevators.
Nice hotel in the middle of City. Rooms are good. Staff friendly. People who love to walk good news. Times Square ... Main Park .. Metro.. Malls.. pharmacy ..food everything is close by.
Excellent hotel in New York, not far from 5th Avenue and perfect if you want to balance a nice hotel at a reasonable rate for NY (Compared to Times SQ etc). Tube station within a block which made transport quick and easy.
I participated in an event organized at the hotel in the conference room, all the service was fantastic, the super attentive workers, very dynamic, offered us all a good service. The event was a press conference with More
Location is great, the rooms are nice with good water pressure and beds. The only negatives are the wifi was slow and expensive and there is no microwave or fridge.
Nice spacious room, friendly staff, very good location.
Very Disappointed . After paying a lot of money for a junior suite, there were paper cups, no dishes, no silverware, no extra linens, and the worst of all... Instant coffee!. I asked for real coffee and a coffee pot. Denied. Unbelievable.
Clean and pretty well located. Staff was friendly and helpful
Good place to stay, great location.
Also note that a Bud lite in a bottle is over $9.
Rooms smell like mold even after we changed, awful pillows and woke up with bad allergies and soar throat.
Nice rooms, comfortable bed, clean hotel and good customer service during the day. Night shift CS, nonexistent. Gentleman is getting paid for docking points to hotel. I would suggest coaching him or point him in the right direction to work at a 2 star hotel.
Great for the price and the location is amazing. You can get anywhere from the trains from museums, Soho, Brooklyn, etc.
The staff was curtious and the cookies were good days after on the plane home.
We used the bag checking service and left an iPad in the room which they were quick and polite to retrieve and hold at the front.
Love but frustrated. This a great location as it has a subway entrance right outside the door! Our room was great in many ways. Super comfy bed, great shower, nice decor, clean, nice street view, great wi-fi! My misgivings about the room include no coffee maker, no place to store toiletries, no hotel info or area info in the room. We are Hilton Honors members too and really like the complimentary coffee or tea you get most Hiltons. I can t understand why they don t put any helpful info in the room. The phone has a button for in room dining but when I pushed it dialed the hotel number and gave me the menu for making a reservation??? I know they are pared down because of supposedly reasonable room prices but it is the Strasbourg the keep Honors members coming back. Thanks for a nice visit.
Location is very good, but the hotel is a bit worn our and amenities are poor (no coffee, no fridge in the room).
When we stood in front of the hotel, I noticed that I was here a few years ago. At that time the hotel was totally worn, this time it was at least lovelessly renovated. We have been upgraded to the Honors area. I do not want to know what the normal rooms look like for the 230 per night. The price / performance ratio is a pure disaster here. I'll list what the room did not have: Wi-Fi (free), hair dryer, international power outlet, minibar, clothes hook outside the closet. The water was partly bad and the black hair of other guests were also in the bathroom. A sheer outrage for that price, even in NYC. So this was guaranteed the last time here.
This is quite frankly the worst DoubleTree I have ever stayed at. Room was in a state of disrepair, second room is better but still lacking any quality you might expect from a 4 star hotel in NYC.
Very good option in NYC with breakfast and near the subway
Horrible service, freezing rooms that smell old. So busy, bad food. Just unpleasant stay overall.
Very elegant, good service I recommend it is very cozy for a person who likes to relax and spend a few pleasant moments.
Correspondence including acceptance is not good.
There is no refrigerator in the room.
The room is small.
There is no temperature control function of the air conditioner.
Even if you request temperature adjustment, no staff will come.
The lowest level ever with Hilton Hotels.
The most horrendous service and rude staff I've ever encountered. Delayed check in due to staff shrugging their shoulders and saying they don't know how to use their system.
Housekeeping visited twice and left their own rubbish in the room. Bizarre experience from a renowned chain.
Beds/mattress awful!! Low quality. Especially if u pay $400+ Check out the close-by Renaissance @ E. 57th (my cousin says!). 3 Stars given cause of fresh cookies, decent linens & towels, bottle of water.
STAY AWAY!!! I only gave 1 star because it wouldn't allow me to select no stars. My husband and I came to New York for our second time for our 19th wedding anniversary. We arrived at 12:45 pm which is early, and our room wasn't ready. No big deal, we expected that. We told the front desk it was our anniversary and were told, we don't do anything special for anniversaries. Ok, still no deal breaker. We went to walk around the city and were told we would be contacted when our room was ready. At 6:30, we returned to the hotel a little concerned that we hadn't been contacted. After standing in line for 20 minutes, they assigned our room, but lost our luggage we had previously left with the bellman. My husband had to go with the bellman to find our luggage and then they didn't even offer to bring it up to the room. We finally get to our room and the air had been off so it is musty and humid. But wait, it gets better! You have no control over the thermostat! It is set for you depending on wether the local forecast is hot or cold. We called to speak to a manager and their remedy was cookies and an apology. I have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world including what used to be the Waldorf Astoria NYC, the Roosevelt in New Orleans
and the British Colonial in Nassau, Bahamas and because of this terrible customer service, I am discontinuing my Hilton rewards membership and will never set foot on another Hilton property. We attempted to speak to several different managers on different shifts and not one of them even pretended to care.
strategically located in the heart of NYC, but priced on the high side.
Nice mid range hotel. I liked the guys in the service area for breakfast.
Other than the free WiFi, not much has changed over the past 5 years. Had to talk to multiple staff to get things done. I sensed that they're just indifferent and unmotivated.
Granted this hotel was about twenty bucks cheaper than the one that I usually stay when I'm in town, but the other Hilton brand would give me the courtesy upgrade and noon check in. I think I'm going to look forward and not looking back to a place with peeled wall paper and chipped paint.
Laundry list of problems, not what you'd expect from the DoubleTree by Hilton name! Very disappointed!
The rooms are nice but the sink water smells bad ..the don't clean their house tanks ,I complained to deaf ears , there waiting for someone to get gravelly I'll or something, but now after this post i think they might try
Me and family spent a weekend in NY - this hotel has a great location, by the way. The problem was the front desk employees. We checked in Saturday, March 25th, before the check in time but while making our line to reach one of the front desk employees I decided to ask Vicky if it was ok to make the line or if we should just return later - she was absolutely rude to me, telling me that she was starting to log in into the system and that for any question I should just make the line and wait until somebody was free to help me because she could not help me at the moment -did not give me time to ask her anything. Everybody of my group was surprised to see and hear her reaction. At night I tried to see if they had the cookies they usually give you when you check in (Vicky said they ran out of them) and the night shift was not friendly either...what a shocker!
Sunday was a completely different story, the front desk employees (specially this girl, of whom I can't remember her name) were very helpful, had a big smile on their faces and a very helpful attitude - 100 points for the Sunday 3/27 am to noon team!!! Thank you.
I am giving 3 stars because of the issues with employees on Saturday.
Great hotel. What stands out most is friendliness and helpfulness of all staff from the bellhops to management. Great breakfast restaurant too.
I was there just to drop a package for a friend, who was a guest. The front desk guys were very helpful and friendly.
Actually decent hotel, room cleanliness leaves a little to be desired. Staff is very friendly. Almost a 4 rating.
Decent size rooms in a central location close to the subways. For the price it's good value.
The location of this hotel is great. Everything is about a couple blocks away and the subway entrance is right next to the hotel.
There s no way this hotel can earn 5 stars.
Location is good, but staff were busy chatting each other, and garage guys were extremely rude!
The room has no view. Bathroom was very dated and so small.
When we come back to the city, we will stay at different hotel for sure.
This is my 1st time visiting this hotel. The staff were very friendly. The Hospitality ladies were prompt in responding to requests. Overall, my experience was decent.
Rooms and bathrooms were a little small but very clean. Doorman were not very nice or helpful even after a big tip but the people at the desk were. Good location and good view.
Room was small but bed was comfortable. Lack of express checkout was frustrating.
Relationship between quality and unsatisfactory price; only the hall is at the level of the declared stars.
Insufficient cleaning level; payment of the baggage deposit service is required at both the deposit and the collection; wifi available only after registration or payment.
This is our second time here and I wish I had remembered we were here before. This hotel is really tired. The room decor is dated, there are cracks in the walls, the bathroom fixtures are stained and worn. The bathroom is so small that the toilet paper roll is two feet higher that it should be. The buffet breakfast is mediocre. The oatmeal was watery and tasteless. The cut fruit was okay. The muffin I had was also okay. We arrived before check in time and had to pay $1 per bag to store and $1 per bag to retrieve it. Nothing about this hotel is warm or inviting.
Very pleasant visit, my room was comfortable and clean.
Beautiful experience ... friendly staff and 5 star hygiene
Good location but the ceiling and walls are peeling. No amenities in room like a coffee maker or bar fridge.
Clean throughout but bathroom in the room needs alot of work! Ceiling in room needs some attention also. Beds were good. Server in restaurant during breakfast was OUTSTANDING!
Stayed overnight because we were seeing a play. Room was very outdated Furniture had marks and was old. The worst part was I accidentally left very expensive earrings there. When I called of course housekeeping hadn t found them. I know they were there but you d think a Hilton would hire reliable employees not criminals. Never will I stay in a Hilton again
Really bad front desk service. Called and asked for extra bed to deliver three times and then they hang up on me.
Worse hotel i ever stayed, not clean the shower door was about to break from all the water she absorved the team is too busy to see the gest needs, not home away from home!!! For the same night rate you can choose another place
Service with an attitude. There are many better places to stay nearby.
Overall, the hotel was fine. My room was pretty standard, and the service was good. I had a good experience with the front desk. The restaurant and the bar though, are different entirely. Both had incredibly pushy staff. The guy at the bar apparently is not paid enough to deal with someone who "will start with water" because he only sells drinks and asks anyone else to avoid his section so he can ignore them properly. He was rude to a woman the night after as well, then vented to me and my colleagues about it! I think the restaurant staff are just underpaid and have poorly defined sections. They aren't rude, but overly present. I was asked 4 times by different waiters if I had a breakfast voucher within 30 minutes, but none of them ever brought that water I asked for...
It's the water! Don't get water here. Apparently they don't like that. Who knew?
Basic please read
Hello i stayed at this hotel for a week with my husband. we are from England and came to New York to explore the city before we have children
we booked room only, that's fine it doesn't include breakfast. ok not to worry.
about the room, so got there late on 17th August, no tea, no coffee, no nothing in the room, now I don't know if that's a thing in NYC but in every other hotel I've ever been in they give tea and coffee, so wasted money on coffee and drinks. no room service or restaurant so had to keep exploring to find a nice place to eat, that's it about the room it self. wasn't a good view but that wasn't a problem. The bathroom door was a bit messed up like the hinge had been moved for some reason and the door had big chunks off it so you could see the chip board underneath.
Beakfast was standard; sausage, streaky bacon, packet scrambled eggs and some weird potato thing substituting hash browns and some rolled up blueberry pancakes that looked like spring rolls.
My husband got sick (not from the hotel food may i add) and I needed a kettle to boil water which took 45mins to come to the room which was very annoying.
good points. had a mini hotel shop.
Reception and room was nice
over all we had an amazing time in nyc. not so much in the hotel.
The front desk and curbside service was very helpful. Upon my departure, a ride to the airport was hailed for me. My room was clean and overall in tip top shape. I appreciate being able to leave by bag at the concierge stand while I was out. Would stay again!
Clean, organized with spacious room, but no Internet in rooms. Good access to metro, and lots of tourist's attractions
Small rooms, Service not really friendly and bathroom with mold. I also had to pay 6$ to store my luggage for 1,5 hours. Not worth to be called a Hilton.
The 'Queen' rooms only have Full beds. No water bottles or tea/coffee in the rooms. Check in is at 3, but we got in at 11. We were told they would call us as soon as the rooms were ready but they didn't send we had to wait in a long line at 3pm just to collect keys. The check in staffer was rude to everyone - even those who only had questions "need to stand in line" for what 20mins? Nobody at the vacation desk for most of the time. No complimentary WiFi. Only one elevator operational on Saturday. Could go on and on.
Paid $700 a night for a room that usually goes for $129 due to the Christmas shopping season. I found pubic hairs on my pillow and sink. No USB chargers. Does not meet the standard for even a basic business hotel.
Really nice clean rooms and good facilities in the hotel. The only downside was the staff weren't able to communicate clearly with each other. The airport transfers didn't explain the costs clearly at all and it was hard to tell if they were an official service. Like much of New York, the end result was very good but they seem to use crazy methods all the time.
The location was great, check in was a pain only 2 people at the desk and a good size line to register. Room was clean, but cold even raising the temp didn't help. As a Hilton silver member I usually get two bottles of water at check in., not here.
Excellent hotel !!! Highly recommended, close to everything
The receptionists have a bad mood, they charge you for leaving the suitcase one dollar for each one when you leave them and one dollar for each one when you pick them up.
Marginally better than meeting out on the sidewalk and sharing a bottle of fortified wine in a paper bag.
Great midtown location. Friendly staff, clean rooms
