It may not be a world-class zoo but it certainly provides a great outdoor educational experience. Easy to navigate and enjoy your day. Plan a trip around Christmastime to see the lights and decorations.

Amazing exhibits! Closer than was expecting to animals! Had their own aquarium pretty much! Spent pretty much the whole six hours walking around there's so much to see!
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, I am unsure if I came on the wrong day or what but parking was badly insufficient, we ended up parking on a street side over a mile away and walking in.
Not an amazing zoo, but impressive. I was surprised by size of zoo. Think it took me, like 3 hours to walk around and see everything. Only thing I didn't like, is how some of animals looked unhealthy, even depressed.
Variety of food choices depending on what "region" you are in. For example, by the elephants there are dumplings. Very well kept zoo and friendly staff.
Denver Zoo suffices for you break of the city life. It has quite a few nice exhibits but there is def room for improvement. If you have a family be prepared to spend a pretty nickle on your lunch or snacks. Overall its okay.
We haven't been since my his and and I were kids (both born and raised here ) and this was my 4 and 6 year olds first time, there were alot of animals that weren't there due to the weather, which was expected but still fun. The only downfall that we didn't like was the fact that the elephants had to do tricks to get treats we are animal lovers of all kind and understand that most if not all were rescue as well as bred In order to save the species, but it was a bit hard to watch, although more humane then say a circus which we will never attend or support but nonetheless a bit heartbreaking, other then that it was definitely worth the faces on my kids and the education they endured was amazing and very much important!! Will be returning in the spring when some of the new exhibits are finished and more of the animals and babies return for the warm weather!!!
Good place to see animals. However, a lot of animals can be relocated at times and make navigation confusing. I would also check to see if an animal you want to see is there first, as they may lack some animals.
A really great zoo. A wide variety of animals, many that are rarely seen at other zoos. The elephant exhibit is very impressive, and other exhibits include both indoor and outdoor viewing and rotating habitats to meet animals' needs. This zoo also had several very knowledgeable volunteers who made the experience more interesting with stories about the animals. A highlight for our family was a keeper who spent more than 20 minutes visiting with our children. We'll be back!
Even though you're frequently lectured on how all you humans are evil and destroying nature (do they want us all to just die?), my family maintains a membership because we love to watch the wide variety of animals (it's not hard to tune-out the environmental rubbish). Like all large museums and parks, it's best to visit frequently for a partial-day rather than trying to fit-in all the attractions in to one long tiring day--something a membership offers.
It's better to go when it's not busy when it's much more quiet and you don't have to weave through crowds of screaming, unsupervised children. Weekdays and early Sunday mornings are usually best.
We don't dine there much, so I cannot review the food. Bathrooms have always been above average (clean, roomy) when I've used them.
Fun and interactive plenty of info stations and guides placed around the park. Most the exhibits were shut down for the winter so definitely recommend going during summertime but there was still plenty to see. Went on a free day and the crowd wasnt too large most likely due to winter as well but still nice. Plenty of play areas for children and large paths for strollers. Wonderful family establishment
The Denver Zoo is an awesome place. They've made many improvements and looks like there's more coming. I went on a weekday, still parking was pretty full. I've never used the underground parking so not sure of capacity. Large trees, lots of plants too throughout the zoo. Most animals have it pretty good with space, shelter, toys, decent environment, shade, misters when hot. They have shows about animals, very interesting. Today first time going into Lorakeet enclosure, colorful, intelligent birds. For $2.00 you can buy a mini papercup with some kind of nectar to entice them, they love it. Some will try to grab the cup. I think that was my favorite part of the zoo this time. I do notice some enclosures on the outskirts have overgrown plants making it hard to see the animals, they need a little trimming. Totally an awesome good time at the zoo!
This is the first time that we got there at feeding time. We saw animals that we haven't seen in years. We have a membership so we can take the grand babies as much as possible.
We had a great time, the kids loved the train and the carousel. All exhibits were stroller friendly without causing too much crowding. We were able to see a good amount of animals but not all of them were out. I believe that is because some of their animals have the choice of being out or not. The only thing that left us a bit sad was the gorilla, it seemed very stressed as people and children kept banging on the glass. I wished they had a zoo employee monitoring that exhibit constantly. The food prices were a bit high , a bottle of water was a good 5-6 bucks , so if you can take in your own bottled water (no glass , no straws) I would recommend it. Overall, if we lived here in Denver I think we would buy a zoo membership.
Tigers, hippopotamus, giraffes, penguins. It's a great place with well cared for animals. My daughter goes every year as a birthday present but we visit throughout the year as well.
Beautiful zoo, very clean and great exhibits with multiple views which is a great experience. Food was excellent as well and the staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job.
This a nice zoo. However, there were some things I didn t like the bird cages, it s really heart breaking to see big birds like the Condor and the eagle in such small cages. Also the hippopotamus swimming water was really really dirty. Other than that a nice zoo.
Chill with the facemask enforcement. We were NOT near anyone and outside and it was pulled down just a little from my nose so my glasses could unfog. There was no one around until the enforcer came over and stood within a few feet of me to let me know I could be removed from the park. We had purposely went to a corner away from everyone.
Love, love, love this zoo! It's sprawling in tge middle of Denver, but you'd hardly guess you were in a metro area walking through. The enclosures for most of the animals are spacious and feel very natural. The winding paths through the zoo mean you don't generally have to walk through big crowds. The new tiger exhibit is grrrreat. And all the staff we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable.
On this particular day and time it was pretty uneventful. Throughout the years I've watched this zoo grow and have had and used season passes for all of my five children. This day I went with my four month old grandson and his dad my son. I took a picture of my son and his wife in the same spot that my picture was taken of him when he was four months old. Highlight of the day second to the elephant in the water swimming and diving. My grandson was awake and videoed for that experience. Got there at 10:00 a.m. Lots of structured school type group's were everywhere. Probably 60% no shows for exhibits. Timing I believe, and closures. Normally a wonderful experience for all. Fortunately, my grandson will not remember this visit but I will. It was priceless. Takeaways, don't go that early and check before going concerning exhibit closures.
never made it out of parking lot. waited for spaces to have them stolen 4x!!! parking was horrendous! never seen such aggressive people WITH THIER KIDS, at that!!! sooooo disappointing considering we flew in for only 5 days. The website said that Thursdays were the best days to go, so we planned the rest of our trip around that. much needed parking security or something! never again!
If you can't find parking on the surface lots, I've always managed to find a spot in the underground garage. And I agree about the free days, avoid them like the plague.
The keeper talks were great and it seemed like they were scheduled so you could hit multiple talks by staying along the path. Great up close views of the animals as well.
Clean, affordable, great layout. They have been improving many parts of the Zoo over the years such as the newer Tiger and Elephant exhibits. Currently it looks like they're improving other areas such as the Lions, Cats and Bear areas!
There's a lot of construction going on right on now. The weather isnt the best *not the zoo's fault* but it wasn't crowded and the people that work there were nice. Lastly, we got to hear the lions roar and the new elephant trumpet
The Enchanted Hollows was very disappointing. There was hardly any thing to see much less anything being scary. Do not waste your time or money. Basically walked around the whole zoo in the dark and and saw a few animals and plastic carved pumpkins in the bushes.
The zoo was so much fun with all the different animals, even with the whole Corona thing, the zoo was so much fun. The path set for seeing the animals was able to hit most all of them
