Denver Zoo Review

Lovely zoo. Beautiful animal habitats. Wish it were a little more family friendly. We approached the bird house and were told, rather snappishly, by an employee that strollers were not allowed inside. When my husband went in there was plenty of space, and no explanation as to why we had to leave the strollers outside (maybe provide a stroller parking area with an employee to keep an eye on it) and schlep our children and all our possessions through while hoping that our stroller didn't get stolen while we weren't out there. It's a bummer. I think my toddler would have loved to see the birds.

Nice zoo, parking is crazy. Layout is somewhat confusing.

It is a zoo or a day care for parents who can't watch their kids? I watched 1 parent run around looking for there kid. U wouldn't lose it if u would pay attention. Decent animal's most of them we're gone.

Good time. Halloween decor is very nice and festive.

A great zoo. Nothing humongous or overwhelming. The park and the animals are well cared for, and it's obvious. The memberships are worth it if you have a family and plan on going together at least 3 or 4 times a year. Great thing about Colorado. You can manage to be outdoors year round easy. Funny too... I used to hate zoos.

Parking was a nightmare at noon/1ish. Zoo was not nearly as crowded as we were expecting once inside. Easy to navigate, animals looked happy and healthy. 3-4 hours was plenty of time to take everything. Next time will make it a point to see the animal demonstrations. I've heard great things!

Really great zoo, and always love seeing the baby geese roaming around.

Loved this zoo for decades! They're constantly updating exhibits and structures and making improvements.

Was not impressed. Lions and tigers were not out. A lot of different animals were not in their areas of said places. They will move them to different areas.

It was fun and I'm pretty sure I didn't catch the covid.

Love taking the littles to the zoo. Went in the afternoon so the animals were mostly inside.

Love it! Although I wish some of the animals had a larger enclosure. It does seem like they're working on it. Very nice staff, always clean and kept up. They have red pandas!!

Most animals aren't visible on summer afternoons. Little activities to enjoy otherwise.

It's hard to rate any zoo in comparison to the San Diego Zoo which we have visited umpteen times over decades, but this is a manageable size. Easy to walk in a half day. Nice exhibits. Major complaint is lack of signage. Many paths to choose from. Paper map doesn't always seem to match. Went in circles more than once.

The summer heat was too much for the animals so they were all indoors, always pleased to see animals being cared for but the zoo closed far too early. They closed at 5pm on a Saturday which is odd for weekend hours. However I did enjoy seeing peacocks run around the park.

Great zoo with great amenities. They have recently updated the Elephant exhibit and are working on a new Tiger exhibit with large open expanses.

got hot wearing a mask outside the whole time. Animals were out and was a nice place to go.

Our staple for kids. Great place to be outside almost all year round.

My boys loved it and feeding the birds was an awesome experience! We will definitely be back!

Very nice zoo. They close at 4pm, and you usually have to leave by 5pm. I recommend going in the morning. You will have more time and the animals will be more active.

I like that you can bring your own food & drinks. That's a huge perk. The shows are also worth the time & if you have a membership, going frequently makes it worth while. My least favorite things about this zoo are cleanliness, parking & the aquatic life/amphibian/reptile exhibits are kinda mucky looking. Glass is always very dirty (not foggy, that I would understand due to keeping things humid).

One of the best Zoo's I have ever been to. Very large, lots of animals, and very friendly staff.

Hi-I have been wanting to write this review for 15 years. I just now got the motivation.

I visited in the early 2000's and I still do not recommend.

If a majority of the animals are not around for viewing a full refund should be expected.

We enjoyed it. We come from San Diego. The zoo SD is amazing but, I like this zoo. There wasn't a lot of people.

A lot of the animals were not out or their exhibits were empty. However for being in the middle of Denver this zoo was pretty spacious and nice. They did have a lot of animals that other zoos don't have (rhinos, for example).

Love the zoo! The elephant exhibit is the best! Lots of moneys and big cats. You can also feed the tropical birds.

Liked it so much, we bought a membership AFTER our visit.

Its the Best Zoo in Denver! Really it's a great institution historic and modern. They are always adding new things. But it feels like they have always been there.

Denver Zoo is an amazing place to spend time with family. They have a wide range of animals and other things to do.

This zoo. Is incredible. Need I say more? The animals were so excited to see guests and the park was clean and I loved that there were informed keepers all over the zoo to tell us about the exhibits. We had an amazing time and I hope to go back some day.

Denver Zoo is an awesome place. The animals always seem to be out. The Ice cream and most foods are really good. If you awe wandering around when its in the upper 70's or higher most of the animals are sleeping. Other than that its a great place. If you plan on going more than once in a year you might as well buy the year membership for $40

The only con is parking. You may find a spot right a way or drive around 10 minutes looking for a spot, then another 10 minutes waiting for a mom to put her baby in the car and the stroller.... and whatever else she was carrying.

This was an amazing experience. All the animals were out and about. I'm from California, the Denver zoo is as good as any zoo I have been to in California. Loved it!!!!

Have been coming here since I was little, love bringing my kids here they love it.

I saw two giraffes start fighting. One was strutting around because his little square spot things were pretty darn fabulous. Well, another giraffe took offense to this runway model style walk he was doing. They confronted each other, and proceeded to whip at each others with their necks. Ultimately, they whip their necks with so much force that the two giraffes got their necks stuck together in a a knot-like fashion. Way cool experience! Bring the kiddos!

Covid-19 protocols in place. Still a good experience.

I love this zoo and I love that you have asian elephants know because I love elephants and one thing that I think you should do is in the elephant show you should have the elephants swimming because I remember one time I was there was a elephant was and I think I is better than learning about the elephants but I do love learn in about elephants but I would love if they could swim. Thank you

Like this zoo, and the elephant area is the best I have seen.

It's fun for very small children or elderly people who just want a safe place to walk around but there's only so many times you can go and see the same exact thing

A must when in Denver...it is a great zoo though...

Zoo lights are amazing! Totally worth the cost and the experience is priceless. Suggest getting the glasses and hot chocolate to complete the experience. I would get there early for parking since there is some back up from people leaving and coming.

Love this zoo has a lot of interesting exhibits and good food, however get here early the later you come the harder it is to park!!

Good selection of animals. If you're planning on coming multiple times I highly suggest getting the membership.

This zoo is awesome! My fiance and I are from Texas and we love this zoo better than ours at home. This place Is huge though, so if you have never been be prepared to walk. Lots of exhibits and the animals seem happily content. They have little feeding schedules that the public can watch and enjoy so be sure to check those out. The business hours we thought we odd.. the close earlier then other places in our opinion. So plan accordingly, we cant wait to go back next time.
