They promote good care of animals, eating the right food to prevent extinction of sea life, they have demonstrations every 30 minutes. Hot, bring water and snacks. Everything is expensive. The lion feeding was the cutest thing

The Denver Zoo is really great. There are a lot of fun shows all through the day, and the zoo staff are very conscientious about explaining the conservation efforts for each animal and what part the zoo plays in them.
The new, 10-acre elephant enclosure is pretty spectacular.
We especially enjoyed the elephant show, the sea lion show, the primate area, and the reptile house. I also really appreciated that we could bring in a picnic lunch and eat it anywhere on the grounds.
My only complaint would be the price of adult tickets ($20!), and the fact that children older than 11 are considered "adults". Kids under 3 get in free though, so that's something.
Love the Denver zoo. Was a bit disappointed by the recent construction and improvements. But the zoo does have some great exhibits and features. Also reccomend you bring your own food and drinks.
Animals are more chipper early, lions tigers hippo, all playful and noisy before 0900. Beautiful fish displays, sting ray petting, very nice place, safe clean, just fun
I'm really lucky to live in a city where its the best zoo in the world for the animals in mind (Chester, UK). But whilst in CO we visited and it was so on par we had a great time visiting all the animals and everyone does a great job at caring for them
Parking here is atrocious because it shares parking with the Denver museum of nature and science next door. Lines in to the zoo are short and quick. Prices and all items and food are high! Clean though. Lots of interesting events. Lots of great exhibits.
We are members of the Denver zoo, so going into the zoo is as easy as exiting it. We enjoy the animals and watching them as they build new exhibits, as they ve built more on each visit. I wish there was more security or zoo staff on hand on their busy days as most parents do not stop their toddler-7 year olds from climbing on my sons wheelchair to see an animal. They do provide wagons and electric wheelchairs at low cost. The food is good if you choose to eat at the park. I do wish they gave access to water, cheaper that $5.00 a bottle (demotes 1 star for that). The vending machines have been busted and took our money the last two times we were there, use at your own risk. Otherwise this is my top places to waste a day away, we love it and hope you do too :)
Bring your own sunscreen and hat! Wheel chairs are $10 and first come first serve. Food isn't terribly priced. If you will visit the zoo twice or more in one year buy a pass! You get a 10% discount on everything!
This was my 5th year in a row visiting and we are always very happy with our visit! The animals always look very healthy and well taken care of! Denver is always updating the zoo as well, which is great! We love coming!!
Horrible very small and nothing was open all under construction... too much money for 2 kids to walk thru on an hour. Saw elephants giraffes peacock and geese. Lame wish I could get a refund.
Lot and lots of amazing animals and very toddler friendly. We had a really good time. Try to go on a weekday earlier in the morning before all the animals go in to escape the heat.
It was okay. Smelled bad. But I love the peacocks that roam around. Animals look like they are kept humanely. I love the fish room especially. Must see!
Went on free day. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. A lot of the animals were inside because of the snow, so they had viewing areas really close to the pens. Clean and well kept park.
There were many empty areas. The number of animals was smaller than I ever remember. Animals were not always in the area shown on the map. However, prices were very high. Entrance, lunch and ice cream for me and a 2 year old was $60. On a positive note, there were many beautiful flowers and other plantings. This was a change from the last time I was there.
Always so much to do and see here! Bought a family membership for $150 so now will have to go at least 2 more times in order for it to pay for itself (this will be easy with kiddos to keep busy over the summer). There are new exhibits opening up later this year too and I can't wait! Love the Denver Zoo!
In the middle of the winter, on a half price day, we didn't have to fight any crowds to see the animals, a surprising number of which were out and about in the snow from a recent storm. A great day.
Nice fun reasonable sized zoo. We got an exclusive behind the scenes tour which was really awesome to see the animals getting fed and getting to see the tigers and leopards up close.
I liked this zoo because it's reasonably priced and you can see all the exhibits in a day without rushing. Their new tiger exhibit is only about a year old so that's cool. We'll probably become members next time to support the zoo.
I took my sons on Labor day. Most animals were not released till well after opening so we did alot of backtracking. When the polar bear finally came out he was given toys filled with lettuce hearts. These guys eat walruses and Norwall whales. The penguin and pretator demos were cancled which was the whole reason we drove 3 hours to the Denver Zoo so it made our trip very uneventful. The park was very over crowded. Then to top it off I had a guest spill his beer on me when he bummed into me. Frankly it was a little disappointing to see so many parents of young children with a drink in their hand at 10am. So by 2pm there where quite a few parents stumbling around with their toddlers running loose. During passing with anothet guest my son, in his stroller was blasted in the face with a bubble gun that was sold in the gift shop. Its never fun to get soap in your eye. That was the last straw. 2 stars for the 2 rhinos but I wouldnt take me kids back to this zoo this lifetime.
The Zoo Lights are BEAUTIFUL!!! Definitely a wonderful experience despite the frigid temperature. My only complaint is the prices on hot chocolate. $7 is a bit ridiculous...more than Starbucks, which is saying something!
We went on a nice day in the mid 60s. It was great because it wasn't so hot the animals were lazy. We saw lots of cool stuff. It's a good place to take your kids
Wonderful place for families to see a wide variety of animals in very creative habitats. Pack a lunch, bring the wagon, spend the day. The best days to visit are usually the least favorable weather days as it keeps the crowds down, but the animal activity up!
They did an excellent job in "setting up" the zoo to deal with the public during this pandemic. We were able to have a great time and see all the animals at the zoo. LOVE the new tiger exhibit (I know it's been there for a bit but it's the first time we've been able to see it)! Definitely recommend a visit!
The Zoo has been recently renovated with millions of dollars in landscape. The most recent exhibit is the Asian elephants bringing a little Asian spice to the Denver zoo. In Winter Zoo lights is fun and great for the family! Don't forget to take lots of pictures and parking is always difficult so try the parking garage first.
Whole zoo is great. Black and Brown bear habitats are too small and beyond acceptable. Bears need to be released if their habitats cannot be completely changed. They are pacing back and forth from their closet size spaces. Rest of park is amazing.
A lot of animals and they are well cared for. They grounds are spacious and well kept, updated when needed so the animals are kept in renovated areas that are well suited for them.
My son enjoyed himself very much. I didn't have a great time. I fell and cut open my knee and even though I stay so my son could have fun it started to rain. Overall it's a good place just not for Clumsy people like me.
We are zoo members year and year out we've asked the zoo and city officials to figure out a better parking solution. We love the zoo, but after all Denver population boom. Parking is absolutely horrendous. Until the City and the. zoo figure out a solution we will no be renewing our membership.
My husband and I went here on a whim and are SO happy we did! It had snowed a fair amount the days beforehand, so we were prepared for a short trip with a bunch of closed exhibits. We were SO wrong! We were given a discount due to the snow, but man, we more than got our money s worth.
A couple of exhibits were closed, but the vast majority that were open, were fantastic. We must ve spent an hour in the indoor primate building alone.
Not 5 stars because some of the animals were clearly distressed and upset and pacing back and forth (most notably, the amur leopard). There has to be some way to improve their comfort.
I am not a fan of traditional zoos but this place is very, very well kept. The staff is friendly. Fun activities made available for all like Lorakeet and giraffe feeding. Line to get in was short and reasonable entry price. I was impressed with the care shown to the animals.
Beautiful location in the heart of Denver! Great experience with the kids, grandchildren, when out for a walk with friends or out on a date! Enjoy the animals along with the outdoors!
