Took about 4 trips and several keys to get into my room. Was given keys to someone else's room. The young men were very apologetic and eventually figured it out. Good location, walking distance to Oregon District.

Despite making a reservation months in advance, we ended up paying more than if we just booked it right before going, so we were already a little dismayed by that. But when we got there, we were "greeted" at the front desk by Kory, who was extremely rude and unpleasant, and who seemed bothered by our mere presence. The rest of our stay was a mixed bag of good and bad customer service. Sometimes the valet was like "I guess I'll do that" and sometimes they were really nice. Sometimes the front desk was really helpful, not everyone's a Kory. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom faucet confounding, all in all this is just ok.
I've had a great time every trip staff is very understanding when it comes to my weird credit card at times lol . I want to thank you all as I do every trip I've been here 3times and loved each stay my girlfriend has to breakfast is great to I'll be trying your dinner next weekend
Very nice hotel. Modern with decent rooms and they are clean. I would give it 5 but again no breakfast. Beautiful design and gorgeous views. Awesome gym
Right in downtown Dayton's Oregon District. Beautiful rooftop dining and spectacular views. The staff was very kind and thoughtful. Generous portions for dinner and breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean. Would stay again if i am back in town.
Came for my brothers wedding and got attitude from the front desk when they double booked the room that was promise during the orientation for reservations. We were supposed to have a huge room on the 4th floor with a Sunday bar, and full kitchen to get ready in, and for the groom and his bride to stay that night. Instead when they gave us our room key it was to a double lock-out room on the 12th floor. There was 8 of us getting dressed in there and we made it work, but the manager had a terrible attitude, and was not even apologetic about double booking the advertised/ promised room that they showed us on the walk-through. Valet was great, room service great, breakfast, bartenders all did their job. The service manager at the front desk should be fired, very rude and distasteful to the groom and his new bride on their big day!
Not very pleased! Service is terrible, elevators are always packed...but rooms were not as bad. I did have a problem with my key multiple times... And the water in the shower was scolding hot..
Under construction. The hotel is being renovated, wish I had known ahead of time. Check-in went smoothly, staff was very helpful, and the shuttle service was excellent. One shuttle conflict was resolved when the hotel paid for my cab. I probably wouldn't stay there again because, as previously mentioned, priority is given to the flight crews at every turn. Overall nice hotel, but flight crew arrangements inconvenienced other travelers.
The best thing about Crown Plaza is convenience to get to the Convention Center. The restaurant served good food. The staff were helpful and friendly at the lobby desk and in the restaurant. The frustration I had was seeing how dirty the corners of my room were. The AC/heater unit also looked dirty, so I didn't want to turn it on and make the dirt become airborne. Therefore I couldn't adjust the temperature to be more comfortable. I am used to finding an extra blanket in a motel's dresser drawer, but there were none. I think a thorough cleaning would be wonderful. It is pretty high priced to stay there, so even though it is old and the elevators are so slow, it should be clean!
The rooms are nice and clean. So far everyone working here has been great. Parking is in a parking garage next door, but they validate so it's free for hotel guests. It's also near alot of nice local restaurants and a couple microbreweries. So it's convenient to walk. There's an outdoor pool and they just finished an amphitheater at the park connected to the hotel so on weekends you can listen to live music from the pool.
I looked into the Crowne Plaza for a Christmas party and it was a wonderful experience working with the staff members. They were very helpful. Unfortunately they didn't have the date I was looking for but I would still recommend this venue to others.
The rooms are very basic and there is no cable television. The bed is pretty hard. I was woken up multiple times in the night by the air conditioner rattling but we couldn't turn it off because it's really hot in here even though it's below freezing outside. My partner took a shower and the drain was clogged. There was also nowhere in the bathroom to hang up the wet towel. We spent some time in the bar last night and one bartender was really nice to me (even though he also kept touching me, which was bizarre and unwanted) but rude to my friends. The food was as overpriced as hotel restaurant food normally is but it was pretty good. I got a burger from room service and it was pretty good, too. It came quickly and the food tasted fresh. I wouldn't stay here again if I didn't have to.
Old and outdated. No perks for staying with them. Valet only parking at $15 daily. Room was clean but falling apart. Staff was very friendly. Nothing to do in Dayton, boring. I won't be going back.
Service left a lot to be desired. There were several large groups staying at the hotel as well and the staff seemed to be overwhelmed; the Front Desk especially could use more staff.
For a "fancier" hotel, this place lacks a smooth business. They got 3 stars from me only because the room was clean, the elevators were quick for an older hotel, and the front desk staff offered us various "I'm sorry" compensation which was greatly appreciated, but would have preferred a smooth transaction. This is the second time we've stayed here and they are so far 0 for 2. The first time they lost the reservation and made charges to the card that should not have been made. This time we arrived slightly after 7pm and our room wasn't ready. We asked for another room, they said they didn't have anything else. 1.5hrs later of sitting in the lobby, just before 9pm, they suddenly decided they did have another room. This room happened to share a wall with the "hotel associates" room. A room full of screaming kids would have been better, because at least they pass out eventually. Overall, the location for this hotel is great as it's attached to the convention center. I'd like to say we won't come back here, but we probably will as it was a business trip and this was the chosen company hotel. This place seemed to be having all kinds of issues while we were here with rooms, during our "lobby visit" another person came in and her room wasn't ready either, though it took much less time to be ready than ours, and we heard them comp someone else's room completely because their original room also wasn't ready. Customer beware: arrive for check in promptly at 3 and MAYBE you won't have problems getting in your room before dark.
This place is clearly old and needs some work. In the first room I was in the closet door was off the track and not moveable. I honestly didn't care that much so I looked past it. I then got in to bed and saw a small black high jumping bug. Since bed bugs dont jump I was fairly certain it was a flea. I was finally able to kill it and it splattered blood on my sheets. I called the front desk and they moved me to a new room. 2nd room: closet door off the track and immobile again. But no fleas so I guess you could call it an upgrade. The front desk did give me a coupon to the restaurant but I was only staying overnight and had business to take care of immediately in the morning so I never used it. Probably won't ever stay at this hotel again.
After staying here a few more nights I felt the need to edit my previous review. Yes, the building is old and slightly out of date, but the friendliness of the staff have made up for the building itself. I haven't had any more issues with the cleanliness of my room and all of the front desk staff have gone above and beyond helping make my stay as comfortable as possible. The one issue I still have is the parking situation is annoying. You need to get your parking pass stamped by the front desk everytime you come out and half the time the machine hasn't worked and in sitting there for 5 minutes waiting for the help call to be answered so they can open the gate. Besides that, it's been a great stay and I will continue to come back.
Great banquet space, but the catering always has some kind of small issues, if I go there for a meeting with just drink service, everything is excellent
One of the worst things a hotel can do is leave you without a place to sleep when you arrive in a distant city late at night with important meetings scheduled for the next morning. That is what the Crowne Plaza did to me.
I reserved a room at the Crowne Plaza two months before my trip for a conference at the Dayton convention center. My room was guaranteed for late arrival. I arrived a little before 10 pm on Sept 11, and the hotel informed me that they canceled my reservation at approximately 6 pm that night. They claimed that they ran my credit card and it was declined due to insufficient funds. My credit card company verified that they did not decline any charges, and I am no where near a credit limit. The exact same thing happened to my work colleague who I was traveling with. Not coincidentally, the Crowne Plaza was all sold out (overbooked) that night along with all hotels with 10+ miles. We called several hotels as far away as Middletown and they were all booked. After driving and calling around for 45 minutes, we found a cheap, smoky hotel that had a couple rooms for the night. I would highly suggest any other hotel if you would prefer a reliable, low drama experience for staying in Dayton. I certainly will not make the mistake of staying at this hotel, or another Crowne Plaza, in the future.
Edit to respond to owner's response. I find it telling that the owner finds it unfortunate that I am able to post about my experience at the Crowne Plaza. What is clear is that the Crowne Plaza believes they acted completely appropriately in this situation, and will therefore act in the same way for future travelers. I would suggest that anyone considering reserving a room there consider that fact. You may not have a mysterious credit card problem while you are flying and unreachable, but then again, neither had my colleague or I. What is clear is that the Crowne Plaza will prioritize making sure they have revenue for that night over ensuring you have a place to stay.
My name is listed for all to see and I stand behind all the facts I stated above including the fact that my credit card company told me that they did not decline the charges when I spoke to them on the phone the morning of Sept 14. Of course I can't know what transpired other than the conflicting information I am given by the Crowne Plaza and my credit card company. However given that a) the same room cancellation happened to my work colleague (different CC) and b) we have not had any other mysterious credit card problems, I am not inclined to give Crowne Plaza the benefit of the doubt. Additionally, my colleague had 3 pelican cases left behind the counter for him by co-workers that checked out the morning before we arrived. If the hotel was actually wondering whether or not we were going to arrive, that would be a very good clue. Again however, their priority was guaranteed, short term revenue.
Crowne Plaza posted the same response (word for word minus google) to my colleague's review on TripAdvisor. We are not the same person, had separate reservations, credit cards, etc... However somehow we had such an identical experience that Crowne Plaza can copy and paste an identical response.
The hotel has a patina of age about it. From the slightly too narrow entryway to the time-worn fixtures and the stained popcorn ceilings, you can tell it has been stood the test of time and probably has a few stories to tell. Dim lighting in the bathroom and worn carpet in my guest room. Staff were friendly and helpful, however.
had booked a room with a king size bed, when we checked in was told that there were no king beds available! we booked well in advance was not happy...had a new years party upstairs was overcharged and not as advertised talked to sevral other couples that were there said same as me dont waste your money at crown plaza dayton!!!!!!
We were so disappointed. When all was said and done paid $170.00 dollars which did not include breakfast. Our TV didn't work and the bath tub was clogged. This hotel could really stand for a HGTV make over. We were born and raised here and to return home for a event to this was disheartening. The night porter worked different jobs throughout the hotel was so nice and helpful.
Located a 3 min walk away from the Oregon District which is fully of great places to eat, this nice hotel offers great rooms and a friendly staff. Nightly cookies available in lobby.
The hotel is nice located downtown it needs some updating..I stayed on the 7th floor had a nice view of downtown dayton. Does not have free breakfast or a pool. Some of the newer hotels seem to have pools. All around nice hotel but I think there are better ones out there.
I made my reservations on May 15 for June 21st check out on the 23rd. Called before I left home to see if I needed to print out my reservations. They told me no. I arrived to be informed that I had no reservation. Luckily for me the Hilton Doubletree was able to accommodate me and my family. This almost ruined my family reunion.
Downtown location across from the convention center. Beautiful, clean, historic interior. The ballroom was really nice. The hotel food was sort of bland.
Extremely moldy! Mold in the carpets. Mold in the ceiling tiles. Mold everywhere and a terrible smell from the mold. It made me sick just visiting. Plus other horrible problems with the building and rooms. Worse hotel I've ever seen!
My initial contact with the hotel staff did not provide the customer service I expected, but Emily Hobler, the Catering Sales Manager was great. Not only did she make me feel like the hotel was the best place for my event, I could tell when I returned for a 2nd walk thru that she had addressed my customer service concerns.
As nice as the staff has been, they seem to be extremely understaffed and over worked. The poor receptionist was alone while the phone rang constantly, she was on the phone, and a line 5 deep formed. Every time we stopped by the lobby, this was the case.
Below average. Room was dated and very loud due to rooftop equipment. Staff was not very helpful, parking was not convenient, nor was I comfortable walking to my parked car at night, as the area did not feel safe. When we arrived, we didn't have enough towels. Our door keys quit working after one day and had to be replaced. It is functional, but for this price a hotel should offer much more. Not satisfied, will stay elsewhere next time.
Considering this is the big hotel downtown, I was unimpressed. The furniture in my room was coming chipped. Both reading lights (on either side of the bed) didn't work. The bathroom was quite small.
