It's an older hotel. The rooms smell funny sometimes but they are always clean. The rooftop restaurant has good happy hour appetizer specials. I wish there was free breakfast.

THIS HOTEL IS VERY OLD AND IN NEED OF RENOVATION. IVE STAYED AT NICER HOTELS FOR 1/2 THE RATE
The hotel needs to be updated on the inside. For it being downtown it should be a bit more modern.
Building is clean with a friendly staff. Beds are not uncomfortable, but could be better.
It is a bit dated and it smells old. But if you just need a clean and safe place to stay, it's more than sufficient
Old and worn out this is not a place I would have liked to stay if I had a choice. Dayton appears to be a dying City. Nothing going on other than the Air Force Museum
Avoid... First room, Elite guests, tub had water in the floor. Standing in shower was like standing on a water bed. Second room they transferred us to reeked of smoke. Third room, it was ok. Hotel is stuck in the 70's. Manager Corey was extremely rude to both guests and employees. He belittled and scolded an employee in front of guests. Avoid...
Not a brand new facility, but very well maintained. Clean, in good repair, quiet decor, though a bit dated. The VIP floor and lounge were pretty typical, though the two ladies staffing the lounge each morning and evening were excellent. Warm, friendly, welcoming, helpful, without being pushy or "over the top." Excellent examples of service on a VIP floor. All staff interactions throughout the facility were pleasant and above average. Well done all!
Nice place to stay. Except for replacement tissue box, customer service was excellent! We'll return next year.
The woman at the front desk was not cooperative when I asked for the electronic receipt. She sent the receipt to an wrong email address and refused to help the 2nd time I called in. But other people in the hotel are nice and helpful.
When to Crown Plaza Dayton for Thanksgiving Diner. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the food was good
Room was ok... bed was very comfortable. But I went upstairs to eat and that mistake I'll never redo. I ordered a blue moon and hot wings. Wings came out in minutes and tasted like they were microwaved and they were hot as lava and fell apart. As in the bones did too, NOT WORTH 15.00 for microwaved food. Services was sub-par. Just not what you pay for. Beware...
Rooms are sizeable and clean. Walkways to the parking lot and Convention center are easily accessible. They have a restaurant on the top floor that has reasonably priced food.
Nice time, however the food was not good at all (catering)
The only part of the building that I saw was the entrance/lobby. It was well staffed and well maintained. Everyone there was very welcoming.
I went the hotel through my employer it was booked through priceline. My boss was suppose to meet me there but was tied up at the warehouse and I got there before him. With that being said he called in advance to add my name and to put the credit card on file for incidentals. When I arrived at the hit me the manager said that no one called to add the credit card or rather he had never spoken to anyone. I asked him to look at the notes because how was my name added if no one called. He looked at the notes and said ohhhh I did speak to them but they never added the card. I immediately called my boss and he and the manager spoke. The manager said that they have rules and that he could email the credit card authorization to my boss. He attempted but it was sent to the wrong email address .Once I walked back up to let him know my boss hadn't received the email he became rude and very emotional stating that he is trying his best but he heard someone through my phone talking low about him and I was asked to leave the hotel after the room had been paid for .I refused to leave after a 8 hour drive and the police was called. The manager told the cops that someone on my phone was talking low about him as well .The officers made me leave and I did nothing wrong but tried to check in to my room as everyone else had. A white guy walks up to check in without a credit card for incidentals and was allowed to go to his room without a problem. The manage discriminated towards me because I was black. I will be filling a report through my company with BBB. This is an example that racism is still very real and the guy used his company and position to hurt a black female because he had the power. I would advise to stay away from companies like this they have no respect for human nature at all.
I had the pleasure of staying here last month - my room was super clean and comfortable. Check in / out was speedy and without issue. Located in a convenient area and well priced. Will definitely return!
This hotel is just awful. I will never stay here again and I suggest that nobody else does.
1. The room doesn't come with microwave, you have to PAY $10 for it.
2. The food is expensive and tastes awful.
3. The AC in our room did not work until being on for 8 hours.
4. The fridge froze all of our drinks.
5. The toilet wouldn't flush even after we called maintenance.
6. The elevators didn't know if it should go up, down, stop at your floor, stop at every floor, or what. It also took FOREVER.
There was only two good things about this place.
1. The staff was very kind.
2. The location, it happened to be walking distance to the bars we were going to.
I have to say that I was not pleased with my room when I stayed there Friday night. While searching for a USB plugin, I noticed that behind the desk area was not clean. In addition, the reading light (which I thought was a wonderful idea) did not work for the bed closest to the window and one of the mirror lights in the bathroom was burnt out. And another condition that disturbed me was the mold under the sink rim which I could see when on the toilet. The room number was 1123 which I shared with a fellow handbell choir member for the handbell convention. We were not in our room much, so I did not think to ask to change rooms. I just thought you might want to address these issues.
Hotel is dated, rooms are small, 20-25 minutes from airport
excellent location, many great restaurants within walking distance, great views from the restaurant/bar on the top floor
They have a side room for meetings in the restaurant on the top floor that sits 20 ppl.
The staff here are polite, kind, helpful and outgoing! I wanna see more smiles
Wednesday night Manager's Reception! Except when they cancel it.
Decent rooms, albeit a bit New York small. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is clean, no complaints. If you need an in-room microwave, just ask. They have tons.
All the complaints about the hotel being older have no merit. It is quiet. I have yet to hear anything through the walls from any of my neighbors. So yes, it is an old, solidly built hotel. It is downtown, so there is the occasional motorcycle or EMT vehicle, but it's downtown so what do you expect. I love being here.
Room was nice. The people at the front desk were a bit rude. The restaurant messed up our order.
I went to the crown plaza to make a reservation for my wedding, and to block off dates for same. The whole place is beautiful, especially the Christmas tree. It is definitely old, judging by style, but very well kept, I didn't see a crack or carpet snag or anything. And of course the restaurant has an awesome view of the whole of Dayton. I think we will be using them for our wedding.
Not a bad hotel. Water pressure was average though the temperature was good. Bed and pillows were comfortable though I could hear my neighbor through the wall quite easily.
As the only hotel downtown Dayton near the ballpark we were a little concerned as we were passing through with a truck load of things for vacation and a boat. They assured us there was room for it so we took a chance. We are so glad we did! The hotel was in good condition and the rooms were comfortable. The elevators too forever but that was the only downside. Right from the start the staff was a tremendous help and secured our vehicle in a safe place out of potential vandalism. We walked from the hotel to the riverwalk which was great. An art festival was going on as well as music and food trucks. The atmosphere was great. Then we went to the dragons minor league baseball which was a blast. Finished up walking to the restaurants on 5th Street and back to the hotel. It was all within 0.5 miles which was great. We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem in Dayton!
Last minute decision I did enjoy the dining area hostess was very nice!!!
Room itself was okay but bathroom was small and old. Bathtub didn't drain well so when showering we found ourselves standing in dirty water...unpleasant! Outdoor pool was nice!
We went to the rooftop bar for music and drinks after our wedding and had a great time! Friendly service, very professional.
Not gonna lie, this hotel desperately needs some updating - but, the staff is nice & the food upstairs at the Rooftop is very good!
The rooms were very nice and the parking was included at the convention center when you stay. There were louder groups at night but overall the staff was helpful and friendly!
We purchased the new years eve 2017 package. Well worth the money. Bartenders were knowledgeable and entertaining. Evryone seemed to enjoy the music and dancing. Breakfast buffet the next morning was one of the best i have had at any hotel. Only issue we had was the sink in the bath room was slow to drain appeared to have a back up/clog that will need attention.
Horrible hotel! Room service closed early, restaurant receptionist not friendly, heater constantly comes on every 25 seconds, room not clean. Slept on top of the bed. Close this hotel, renovate, or get new management ASAP. Will NOT be back.
The front desk is not consistent with their charges I was double-charged for residuals and it wasn't returned for seven days so my account was locked up for 7 days.
Run-of-the-mill hotel without charm, bad taste in the 70s American style. Carpet and outdated lights. Spacious bedroom and comfortable bed. Lunch expensive and not exceptional, limit limit for a continental breakfast. In short, good for a short visit. Nothing more. Eric de tournai
Stay there every year for Hamvention. Meet and greet ham operators from around the world
Was there for business seminar but service was good
Currently staying here for a conference. My experience has been mixed. Unfortunately, what I will remember will be the negative interactions. As a hotel connected to a convention center, reasonable expectations would be that the staff would be prepared to handle an influx of guests. Unfortunately this is not the case. Although i found the restaurant staff to be very accommodating, attentive and professional during my first two visits (one during lunch and another during breakfast), the evening dinner crew was horrible! We were directed to the lounge area which was full of attendees from our conference. We patiently waited for 20 minutes because the restaurant was so busy. When we finally were able to get the attention of a waitress, who was literally walking around doing nothing, she stated that she would find someone else to help us. Another 5 minutes passed and no one came even though the same waitress came twice to the empty table next to us to pick up some dirty glasses. My daughter then went to look for a manager who was beyond rude. Of couse we left. To add insult to injury, as we left, we noticed that the other side of the restaurant was now open to accommodate other diners who happened to be white ( our group was mostly non white). They all had been served and were enjoying their meals. The next evening, i attempted to order room service. No one answered after 20+ rings. Thank God for Uber Eats!
Enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere. This hotel is not fussy and pretentious. The room service menu had a wide variety of options to choose from. Instant check in and proper staffing levels. I would stay here again.
Had bed bug issue and mildew in rooms stopped staying there
What a Dump for $200. Not only was I not given the room I reserved the outlets were falling out of the wall. The staff seemed indifferent to any question or need. The hotel itself was hot and muggy. No USB charging outlets. Don't waste your time or money.
The hotel room was lovely and clean, if a bit small. The bed was comfortable, and the relaxing lotion set was nice. The hotel restaurant was ok, which was good since the area was a bit sketchy at night.
Excellent stay, very professional and friendly staff.
The Bad: Old hotel. My room had a very damp feel and smell. There was condensation in between the windows looking out . The bathroom had no ventilation system so the ceiling and wall paper were peeling. The furniture in the room was damaged/worn down/parts chipped off... The carpets were never vacuumed because there were crumbs in the same spot my entire stay. Valet guy wasn't friendly at all. I pulled in to the front of the hotel to off load my luggage and check in since the hotel parking is across the street. The Valet guys told me I wasn't allowed to unload because they need to valet cars when they show up and how many showed up in the 5 minutes I was parked there....ZERO! There are 3 or 4 pull in lanes to the entrance that all say "Loading/Unloading & Valet" so I didn't see what the big problem was. There are a lot of bad's to this hotel.
The Good: Delicious Cookies in the Lobby! (5/5 stars) Free internet and decent TV channels. They made the bed in a different configuration every day so it was fun to come back to the room at the end of the day and guess which way they would make the bed...although there was no standardization.
The view from the rooftop restaurant of Crowne Plaza. The view of the city was breathtaking.
Ghetto!! is the best word I can come up with. Rooms are outdated and dirty. Restaurant is horrible. Obviously some one smoked in the room before me so the hotel staff I quess thought putting two urinal pads on the ac unit would deoderize it! I hope they didnt charge that person 250 for smoking in the room cause they got ripped off. I only pray they weren't used urinal pads. Staff was remotely friendly that's why you got one star. don't stay here!
Old decor, location has limited dining. Typical old city downtown hotel. Of the civic center was not across the street, it would fold.
I came here for a one day work conference, so I didn't stay as a guest. However, there is no clear direction on where to park and the whole place was pretty dimly lit. It made it hard to focus on some of the material at the meeting. The parking is in a garage catty corner from the hotel, but there is a first floor walkway, and they validate.
It's a nice place, good service, as well as people.
Very friendly, I would gladly do business here anytime
Great room, great location, friendly staff, transportation to and from airport, dinning nearby, hotel restaurant also great. Clean large room from a downtown motel, pool is outdoor, workout room adequate and clean.
It was fine. Nothing terrible happened, nothing spectacular happened.
Older hotel, some staff were not so fun to deal with but most of them were great. AC was broken in our room.
Clean. Very attentive and polite staff. Mixed drinks were awful.
Was disappointed with the accommodations; I swear the staff used the guest room next to mine for meetings... Also, although I'm hardly a local to Dayton, the neighborhood surrounding hotel seemed pretty sketchy. I wouldn't feel too safe walking around alone in the area.
Needed to be better at preparing for a large conference. Long wait time to check in.
I booked a 5 day stay at this hotel from Dec 28th- January 2nd. my room was not cleaned for 2 days straight December 31st and January 1st.when I complained about the issue on the second day I was told that they did not have a full staff for New year's day. That's not my problem I'm paying full price for a full room. I asked to be put in another room I was given a room that was dirtier than the room I was in it had not been cleaned either from the last people who checked out. I tried to stay at this hotel every time I come to town this experience has definitely made me reconsider for future trips.I had the same issue the last time I came to town where my room wasn't cleaned and I had to complain about it
We are paying good money for 2 conference rooms over the course of a week. When I first called to confirm them I was told the rooms did not exist. I called hours later and was transferred 3 times and put on hold before being spoken to rudely, yelled at, and hung up on by the front desk clerk. When I called back to ask for his name he hung up on me again. I called a third time and was instantly put on hold. We used 3 different phone lines and were never spoken to again. If you are going to spend money somewhere, spend it where you will be respected and treated appropriately!
Since this review was written our experience has only declined. We have a conference room reserved, yet the employees are continually using it as a hallway between the service elevator and kitchen. The door between our room and the kitchen has a peep hole with nothing in it. (That's right, there is a hole from the room we are paying for straight through to the kitchen.) The employees in the kitchen have been arguing and shouting profanities throughout the week. I have asked to speak with a manager 3 days in a row (this is our 4th day here only because I have no option to switch venues at this point) and have been denied. I've even left a phone number to be reached and have never heard back. This place is appalling!
I got a room key that didn't work properly and I had to got up and down for the front desk multiple times. In the end I was given a complimentary breakfast. Downside was that I arrived at the hotel at 2am, so I was exhausted.
Went for school prom, it was really nice and pretty.
Don't stay here, find anywhere else. I've been forced to stay here on about 5 separate occasions by the company I work for and it's the same thing every time. THERE IS NO HOT WATER to shower. The building has major water problems to the point you can hear water trickling down the interior walls but there is never any hot water. I know the difference between someone running a sink or flushing a toilet above me and that water going through the pipes and the constant trickle that this building has. I can't imagine how much mold is covered up with a few layers of paint. Seriously, whatever governmental body is in charge of hotels in Dayton needs to come and investigate. From the first time I stayed here almost 4 years ago to today it's just getting worse and worse. The staff is always friendly though.
Breakfast is not free. Toilet ran all night. Staff were friendly&helpful. Good location.
First visit was great. This visit.....HORRIBLE!! They charge now for valet but nothing is posted or informed. They have 4 shuttle vehicles but couldn't accommodate for a simple time. It was either way too early or extremely late. Shower neck was so loose I thought it was going to pull away from the wall when I went to adjust the shower head. Food on the rooftop was cold and disgusting this time. Not worth the money and I won't be back!!!
Always a clean and enjoyable stay, very kind staff, great location...especially when attending an event at the convention center
Nice facility. I just wish things were better labeled so I can find my way around.
