This is an incredible Zoo! Tons of animals, and the ambiance of the mountains is so peaceful. My only complaint is the people, which the Zoo has no control over. The people are rude, push, and the tall people stand in front of the glass. However, that's no reason to hate this zoo! Gotta love it!

Really cool zoo in the mountains with the largest giraffe breeding in the country (or one of the largest). There was a 2 week old giraffe when I went! The views of the animals with mountains behind it is awesome. Note that this is very hilly- they do have a golf cart for people with handicaps if needed

I hadn't been to a zoo in 25 years, and have never really been a fan of zoos in general, but this zoo was amazing. If the Swiss Family Robinson built a zoo, this is what it would look like - great layout and architecture, and excellent use of the land to creat this multi-level mountain-side almost theme park feel. I think they should get rid of the primates and elephants though.. their spaces just aren't big enough and they seemed fairly miserable. Other than that, I thought the zoo was absolutely fantastic, and I plan on coming back.

There are quite a few relatively steep pitches as you walk throghout the zoo - it was built into the side of the base of a mountain, so you can think of that to gauge what the walking is like - so wear good walking shoes. The paths are generously wide, and many families had strollers, so you'll be fine to bring a stroller or two if you have small children.

Even if you don't have kids, pay the couple dollars to feed the giraffes - that was a pretty awesome experience. Also, be sure to feed the birds - they'll ride your feeding stick with you if you're gentle.

Plan for about a 3-4 hour walk if you want to see the entire zoo. Also, unless it's summer, bring a jacket, too - the temp will drop rapidly, and far more than you may expect, once the sun goes behind the mountains, which is hours before full sunset.

Perfectly sized zoo for a day trip. Able to see the whole deal in about 5 hours with a short lunch break. Lots of hands on stuff, less interpretive reading. Feeding giraffes is a blast. Clean for both the animals and people. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Tons of kid stuff even for a toddler. A very affordable way to spend the day. Food is a little spendy but that's to be expected.

This zoo is not the typical caged animal scenario...the animals have wonderful enclosures that are just the right size and allow for you and your family to have an educated and personal experience. My favorite zoo in the country by far.

Really enjoyed the zoo, it brought back memories of my childhood. Always loved the zoo. We especially enjoyed watching the orangutans. There was a young yearling that had a lot of energy. Very entertaining.

I have lived in Colorado Springs most my life and we have the best giraffe enclosure anywhere! A must see for your out of town guests! Then new hippo enclosure is so amazing! Drink lots of water we are at altitude!

We went to the electric lights. Extremely disappointing. We were confused on where to start and where to go. I personally think that if your going to have a zoo lights event, then you should make it about the lights, not the animals. Most of the animals aren t active and are already in their homes, sleeping. Sometimes you couldn t even see the animals due to low lighting. Nothing special.

Very clean and well organized, with friendly staff. Animal all looked healthy. Undergoing some repairs from storm damage but it doesn't affect your visit
I suggest the shuttle rides be purchased ($2.00 for all day) it's easier to shuttle to the top of the zoo and walk do Hill to visit each section

there's always something to learn for all ages.

there's always something to learn for all ages.
wonderful caring teamwork by volunteers & zoo employees. will go back soon.
the shuttle could be a must if you're visiting from sea level. this entire town is over 6k altitude. it's real, this town is high. big time saver to take the shuttle as high as it goes & continue up from there. ask questions, the shuttle drivers have radios, if they don't know they know someone who does.
. habitates evolve for more spacious homes. enrichment for the animals is fun for the animals & fun for us to watch. do yourself a favor, visit the website & learn all the zoo is doing for animals all over the world.

I was not expecting much from this zoo, but was thoroughly impressed. With exception of a couple exhibits, the layout and structure was very animal-friendly. The animals seemed contained but hardly caged in. The food court was surprisingly fair priced and great! The best part of the whole experience were the workers. My meal was comp'd at the food court due to a mild delay, which was far from necessary. Workers would integrate us, patrons, into their feeding and work responsibilities, such as feeding a geiko and talking about the bear!

Some reviews have stated the zoo being on a hill and hard to navigate. I would agree, but they offer transportation services for just a couple bucks.

Great place to go with you family or friends.

Great place to go with you family or friends.
People who work there are always available to explaining to you all sort of things about the animals.

You can have some nice experiences by giving food to giraffes or touching lizards or birds

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this zoo. I spent some four+ yours here and had a great time. I was bummed that I couldn't see the tiger or the wolves at all, but I can understand the animals wanting to hiding from young noisy monster kids and/or the heat. There were zoo employees and volunteers everywhere and it was great, everyone had a great attitude and helped with any questions that we as the public had. I really love how large the exhibits are and that there really is space for the animals to be and not have the public in their faces all the time. I didn't buy any food or drinks here, but the shirt prices were reasonable.

I will rate this on the experience of the park. One note in general is that families were not all wearing their masks in the park, but with the mandate not being mandatory that is their choice.

Our family loves wildlife. We have lived in Colorado for 3.5 years and this was our 1st time at the zoo. It is a true zoo that sits in the mountainside. You have an option to use a ski lift of sorts to go up and down the mountain, definitely don't recommend if you are afraid of heights.

The food options were plentiful. Options of healthy and fun foods. Great experiences you can pay a low price for including feeding an elephant, which is my son's favorite animal and feeding my favorite, giraffes. They get up close and personal. We stayed for 3 hours and only experienced half the park. Definitely worth the trip.

This is the best zoo that I've been to! All of the animals look well feed and kept. There were also lots of new baby animals. The giraffe feeding was amazing. Wish that we had time to do the sky lift. Overall this is a must visit in Colorado Springs.

One of our favorite zoos we ve ever visited! The views alone are spectacular. We went 2 hours before closing(secure a time slot ahead of time) we watched the storms in the distance and we were lucky it didn t come our way! 2 hours was definitely a sufficient amount of time to see all the animals. It wasn t busy at the time we went. We got to feed($5) the giraffes and interact with them. All the animals were pretty lively. Walking through the wallaby section was a surprise, they pretty much kept to themselves, but it was cool to see them up close! The ice cream($5.99) popcorn($5?) and pretzel($6?) were a good snack! They have 2-3 spots to grab real food at top with great views.

Don t skip out on this activity to do with the family if you re in Colorado Springs!

I went during the covid-19 season so I had buy tickets online but other than that the zoo was really good! I do recommend to go when you are not short on your time just so that you can see all of the animals!

Love this zoo! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because once you get on a path, it's virtually impossible to easily access other parts of the zoo. We only had two hours, and unfortunately we didn't get to see all the animals my kids wanted to, because we started on the directed path and couldn't get off of it to see other key animals on the other side of the zoo.

Guests were polite and respectful, enjoying their outings. Wonderful experience, even during pandemic precautions.

Can't rave enough about this zoo! Our favorite zoo ever!! So up close and personal. You always see the animals and they seem to be well taken care of. We have an annual pass and go weekly because it's such a fantastic zoo!

Such wonderful food. The animals are well kept and their living conditions are very clean. The zoo keepers do feedings in front of visitors and sometimes welcome visitors to help. The sky lift provides a beautiful view of Colorado Springs

tough on people due to the hills to walk but fun for kids. really smells bad in some of the exhibits but thats most zoos. I recommend if you are a tourist or want to entertain the kiddos.

Rather expensive, but a very unique zoo. The giraffes will come right up to you, eat some lettuce from your hands and let you give them a chin rub. And of course the whole zoo has amazing views of the plains and city below.
