The shuttle ride was too long and the lot was not full when we got there even though they posted signs that the lot was at capacity. Other than that it was a nice hot day and we all enjoyed our time

After watching the video of the poor bears getting hit with hail the size of softballs because they had no place to find shelter I will never visit this zoo. Had plans to go next time I visited family in Colorado Springs but I will spend my money elsewhere now. Edit - After getting the response I did i can now understand that I might have over reacted and will be visiting the zoo the next time I am in the Springs. TY, for the information.

A great place for the family to spend a day learning about, and interacting with, species of all kinds. Spend a few extra bucks to feed the giraffes, and your kidlet might just wear a smile like mine!

Arrive prepared! The whole zoo appears to be on an old ski resort, so you're constantly climbing or descending hills - comfortable walking shoes are a must. There's a shuttle available for an extra fee for those in need. The sky ride (I think that's what it was called) is essentially one of the old ski lifts, and will certainly help move you and yours to the top of the hill, then you could walk down the while way through the zoo. This too is available for an extra few dollars.

There's food available on property, it's reasonably priced and there's a lot of options too! I chose to have a bowl of ramen, which was just what the doctor ordered as we visited on a chilly weekend in February.

All in all, a great place to visit!

Went to the Christmas Light event. It was okay, it was dark so you couldn't see many of the attractions. What attraction you could see, you were unable to see the animals. Covid Restriction didnt help.

My husband and I went during the winter months when they had all the animals inside to be kept warm. They're a rescue zoo that takes donations. I believe when we went it was like $11 a person or so.

A fun place to go and do things. You can camp or go to zoo. This place look awesome and their so much to do. They even have a good mine that you can take a look at. I say you go to the awesome place. It a great place to take the family or stop on a road trip.

The zoo is always fantastic. We have a season pass and have for about two months. It's already paid for itself and then some. Their educational resources are wonderful and each day you can see different animal trainings and activities. This zoo is self funded so there are many feeding experiences and activities to take part in that cost. Bring an extra few dollars a kid and support their conservation efforts within the zoo as well as across the globe. I HIGHLY recommend the zoo!

Consistently a fantastic experience when we go to this zoo. The keepers really seem to love the animals and interact with them frequently. The animals are also given toys or recyclables to engage with. Boo at the Zoo wasn't worth the money for the tickets, but their special days that they do extra presentations for awareness of different animals have all been great. The member nights throughout the summer were all superb too. Overall, recommend to anyone who is visiting Colorado Springs and for those living here to get a membership.

Very cool zoo but INCREDIBLY expensive....will easily set you back $100 for two grown ups and two kids including only admission and food at their zoo cafe. It's really neat if you've never been, but the Denver Zoo is ten times bigger and half the cost. Even CMZ's discounted days will barely save you enough to equal a gallon of gas, whereas the Denver Zoo participates in Colorado free days that make it even more worth the drive.
Two stars for cost but five stars for the zoo itself.

Best zoo of my life to date. I wish I had known that once you pay for the sky lift to the top ($5) it's a one time fee. Next time, and I recommend to all, use it to take it to the top and walk down through the zoo. Must be much easier. We just rode it for fun and the view :)

This is where we held our wedding! The views of the Colorado Springs city are breath-taking and the animals are wonderful. They do such a nice job to have interesting and engaging environments for their animals. As a wedding ceremony and reception location it is perfect. Our guests loved feeding the giraffes, enjoyed the carousel rides and loved meeting the wallaby and tortoise animal ambassadors. The food for our ceremony was delicious and fresh!
I cannot say enough about Kassy and her staff. The team at the Cheyenne Mountain zoo are wonderful to work with. I planned my wedding out of state and Kassy was a fantastic wedding coordinator. She was very responsive, informative and made our wedding perfect! The rest of the zoo staff were also professional and very friendly and fun to work with.
I highly recommend the zoo if you want a fun, memorable and awesome wedding!

This place was amazing!!! You can easily see the animals are well taken care of and quite content.

Be prepared to spend a pretty penny though....everything you could think of is there and costs. And I mean EVERYTHING lol!!

Great zoo that you can explore in a day and not feel like you missed anything. The giraffe feeding at the entrance is a must, and all the exhibits are well kept and get you close to the animals.

The skyline was fun and worth the ride for the view alone, but there wasn't a lot to do at the end other than a climbing area. I think a lot of it was closed due to the weather that day.

We had lunch at Pizza with a View and though seating was limited due to covid, the food was better than your run of the mill frozen pizzas you would get at other tourist destinations.

Enclosures were too small, the fact you pay so much to enter should include transport plus the Sky Chair, specially when you go into a multi animal exhibit and nothing is there.
The only upside is their star attraction, 15 giraffes. Which to me just seem out of place on the side of the mountain.
Toys were reasonable to take home to our kids but this zoo is far from anything to write mom about.

Great zoo to visit when in the Colorado Springs area. We have been both in winter and summer and the zoo is set up so you can still see the animals regardless of weather conditions. Always a great time at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the kids love it.

Had a very bad experience today at the electric safari. The lights were nice, but everything else was absolutely horrible. We had to battle so much traffic, just to get turned around and forced to take the shuttle. We had to wait 45 min to get on the shuttle. Then wait again once we finally got up there to pay to get in. It so crowded, we could hardly see any animals. I feel like my money was completely wasted, as I even had to pay for my 12 month old child to get in. We have been long time members of this zoo, and feel like that it is becoming completely unenjoyable. We will no longer be going to this zoo. One suggestion I have is to have special events like this be purchased in advance, and scanned at the gate. People could purchase tickets in which it specifically states are for shuttle or for parking at the zoo. I really think this is necessary for popular events like the electric safari. It really isn't fair for paying customers to be forced to deal with such frustrating conditions. There really needs to be a limit on how many people can come to these special events in one night.

Really unique with its layout and being in the mountains, well worth it, great setup. Be prepared for some hills, since it's basically on the side of the mountain. Fun to end your day feeding giraffes!

The zoo itself is a wonderful zoo tucked into the hillside. I think it is bit more interactive for families but if you don't have a season pass it is a bit pricey for families. It is more expensive to than the neighboring zoo to the north in Denver.

This was a total surprise to visit. Sometimes the zoo can be a little depressing, especially the elephant and penguin enclosures. Here the animals seem happy, well taken care of and in environments where they are less aware they aren't where they are supposed to be. The elephants were playing and eating. And the penguin family was out on the walking path playing with children.

DURING COVID MAKE RESERVATIONS, THEY WERE SOLD OUT! We were going to take a spontaneous trip, on Sunday, Labor Day Weekend, and thankfully my bf checked the website, and our 3:40 time slot sold out as he was purchasing, so we had to choose an earlier slot... hindsight 20/20, we lucked out because we would have missed half the park, half the experiences and memories ifwe had gone later! We arrived for our 1:40 time slot, and left at closing time: 5pm.

Mist-fans, sanitation stations, water bottle fillers at each water fountain, and bathrooms conveniently located throughout the park. Highly recommend bringing a camelback from home for ice water, or atleast a water bottle to refill.

This was the BEST Zoo experience we've ever had!

That's saying something... I've been to San Diego Zoo, Philadelphia Zoo, Omaha Zoo, several "drive thru zoos" (ie: Bear Country in South Dakota, Six Flags Safaris, etc), and while many of those are much larger, this place takes the cake!

Riding the Sky Lift, first, was a good idea, because later in the day we were so consumed with animal viewing, that we didn't make it back to the entrance area till we were leaving the park. The cost is $4 per person, at the gate, for unlimited rides.

We got to pet an uncaged wallaby (with which there were about half a dozen roaming around) and the giraffes. Recommend bringing cash if you plan to feed animals like the giraffes, elephants, parrots, and whatever else might be feed-able by patrons. Also, giraffe petting / feeding enclosure had a max of 8 patrons, so expect a line and get there early enough. We almost missed out because there was 12 minutes before closing time, and they warn that they'll take as many as they can, but will NOT be able to get the whole line. So if it's important to you, prioritize!

The animals are in great health, not lethargic, and seem very happy! We were there around feeding time (which was around 4pm), so they were very active!

We managed to catch video of the tiger prowl, and nearly pounce at a Zoo Keeper that was on the other side of the fence with her arms out-spread like she would have caught it in a hug, before the tiger started stroping against the fence, chuffing happily as he nuzzled the palms of her hands thru the fence.

We got video of a Zoo Keeper patiently teaching the Barn Owl how to crate-train for vet visits, and allowing to learn "only if he wants to."

We have video of otters doing back flips where the waterfall in their enclosure splashes down.

This is all just to point out how active and happy the animals seem to be in their beautiful enclosures (most having interior and exterior viewing areas, or atleast their own hideaways from the heat). Very well-maintained grounds and animals by caring, jovial staff. Very positive and memorable trip. Can't wait till we have a child, to experience it again, thru their eyes. :)

I haven t been back here since I was a kid and it is a completely different zoo! The animal exhibits were amazing and nothing like I remember. The animal habitats were all huge and provided excellent condition for the animals and viewing for the public. This is definitely a great place to bring small kids and is an excellent family excursion. Well worth the trip for any locals as well as tourists to the area.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is second to none as far as a Zoo is concerned. The animals are very lively, they actually seem happy and well kept. Of course no animal is happy in captivity, but this Zoo goes above and beyond to accommodate the animals in every way possible. I have never seen an elephant acknowledge the people there. You can interact with Goats, Wallaby, Birds and Giraffe as well.. you can feed them (you pay for the food in most cases, bird food is free) they walk up to you and eat off your hands. The proceeds of the food goes directly to improvements all over the Zoo. All kids love an opportunity to feed the Giraffe.
Some small animals get to walk around freely or with staff. On our last visit we had a Peacock and a Porcupine cross our path. I am very impressed with the overall condition of the animals here since they have space and a perfect environment based on the species.
They have a lift chair (additional fee) to take to the top and get a wonderful view of the Zoo and Colorado Springs. As well as a picking area so bring your own food. They do have a restaurant and drinks available to you if you did not want to carry that wagon of food.
Well worth the family visit and see how great it is.

Fantastic zoo with a great view! This zoo sits on the side of a mountain overlooking the city of Colorado Springs. Plenty of educational animal exhibits for kids of all ages. I recommend getting tickets for the lift that takes you to up above the park; great place for photos!
