It was okay but not great. The queue times meant that by the time we actually got into the park (approx 45 mins) and rides closing for deep cleans as they rightly should. The queue times were ridiculous for some rides. In total we only went on 6 different rides and didnt even manage to see all of the animals. Perhaps numbers should be restricted more so people can actually get a go on more things.. Sadly this experience wont make me want to go again anytime soon.

Had a lovely day spending time with family, but Park very tired and needs a complete refurbishment . Rides ok, but nothing to write home about. Merlin could do a lot more to make this into an amazing park. Invest and bring it up to the 21st century!!

Very expensive to get in and then huge queues on all the rides. We had to wait 20-30 minutes with 2 small children to get on even basic fairground style rides which lasted 1 minute while watching those with fast track tickets jump on ahead More

Have been here on a full open park day and a zoo day.
I recommend getting tickets online as you can avoid the queues at the ticket booths and scan straight through the turnstiles.
Went as a family with a seven year old and four year old for the rides, and there were plenty of fun rides we could all go on, though found the reformatted bubbleworks - now gruffolo - felt too young for them and was absolutely saturated with toddlers and babies going on again and again, so would avoid this on our next visit, which is a shame as I loved the original bubbleworks.
On the zoo day we took a picnic, which I recommend as not all eating places are open and the few that are get very busy. There's always coffees though and we used the kiosk in the marketplace, which was very enjoyable as it was a cold day!
On the fully open day we went to vampires burgers and not only were the prices very reasonable, it was delicious and avoided us having to drag a bag of food around on rides!
I also used the theme parks app on the day which helped navigate the park and gave us details of queue times (and where the toilets were - all of which were clean!) which made the experience much better as we could plan where we went and what we rode without having to queue for ages.
I much prefer this zoo to London zoo. I think the animals at Chessington are kept in lovely enclosures and can hide from visitors if they so wish. There's lots of animals to see and my children loved watching the big cats.

loved it! many family rides which were all fun :) hand sanitizer was everywhere and markings were on the floor to social distance. only downsides were that the lines were a 40 minute wait on an average so we didn't manage to get on many rides and that most people weren't social distancing. the vampire was the best ride there! would recommend <3

Absolutely brilliant day out. Not been since I was 16 (some 24 years ago) so it was nice to go with my own children. Staff were really helpful and waiting times for the rides were minimal. Only let down was the price of food. It didn't spoil the day though.

Great place for a family adventure, choose your date carefully (off peak if possible),if not Fastrack tickets recommended (big rides averaged 1 hour plus Q time. Lots going on throughout the day.... And nearly all the rides are family friendly. Also express parking gave us a 1 minuet walk to the gate, and no Q leaving carpark.

The rides and the animals were great, my 3year and 1 year old had an amazing weekend. The food in the buffet restaurants in the hotel was not good. The hotel room has no bath despite us pre requesting one so we could bath our children.

There are some good rides here, particularly for younger children. For the cost to get in, the queue times for the more popular rides are very long and the cost of a fastpass is excessive on top of the initial cost. The parking when it has rained is ridiculous. It is on a grassy slope and the cars slide everywhere and get filthy. I would avoid going after a rainy spell for this reason. We also spent 50min just getting into the car park despite arriving bang on opening time. School holidays also get very busy.

We visit at least every two years for one night stay, two day pass to park. A brilliant place with combo of rides and the zoo. Some good places to eat and I'm confident we will return. Highly recommended to all ages.

Had a great day.

If you are looking for pure to rides, then Thorpe Park is where you should be. But for a mixture of rides, animals, sea life, etc. it's a really fun day out.

Went on a Friday- Inset day
Expected it to be quite and able to get on rides easily however was the total opposite.
Rides such as vampire and dragons fury stayed over 1 hour wait times the entire day
Would recommend going in the middle of a school week to get the most out of your money.

Excellent day out, rides for all ages, the food isn't that great and expensive McDonald's looks like gourmet burgers compared to their food. I'd suggest bringing a packed lunch save your money for fast track, sweets and the fresh donuts

As an annual pass holder I will not be revisiting. Got the 5 month extension but was unable to book to visit as they were sold out. When I did attend which I had to book three weeks in advance, social distance is non-existent.

To give you an idea of how bad it has got, no one social distances, 15 min queue for toilet, 20 minute queue to buy food and you know it's got bad when it's 40 minute queue just to see the gorillas. Rides were on average between 90-120 minutes long and this was on a weekday.

The experience is just beyond bad. Went to Room on a broom and it was a just a walk through with no effects.

Will not be renewing my annual pass as it is not fun anymore but a chore.

If Merlin are reading this the answer is simple, cut the visitors in half so social distance can be adhered to or scrap measures entirely and make face masks compulsory from entry to exit. If you want to keep visitor numbers high and not sacrifice on the main experience then this is the only option.

Great family day out for all ages. One day is not enough to finish the whole park. We decided to do two days with an overnight stay and it was the best decision ever - we was last to leave and first ones in so really made the use of the extra time.

Haven't been for years but really liked it. Was excellent for my 2 and 4 year olds. The rides have been appropriately aged and grouped on the map, both paper and electronic versions, it is easy to customise your day to your requirements.

Overall we had a good day here but it didn't live up to expectations. Chessington itself doesn't seem to have been planned out very well and we found it difficult to find some rides even with map in hand. It's a bit of a money pit for More

Stayed at the azteca Hotel for a zootastic sleepover. Me, my partner and our two boys had an incredible time, the room, the breakfast and the park were so much more than we'd hoped for and the staff could not have done enough to help us. It is a shame that when we went there both the splash pool and the other restaurant were closed but everything else was brilliant. Will definitely be returning soon

Great day out, my 6 year old was tall enough for his first big boy rollercoaster The Vampire and he loved it.
Perfect for all ages, loved the zoo and can't fault the place.
We will be back again soon.

Awful experience from start to finish. Closed rides disinterested staff no one available to assist or direct customers to the few open and operational rides. Got stuck on Vampire Ride for 15 minutes - queued for 40 to be told Gruffalo Ride had a major issue. VIP EXPERIENCE - cancelled. Overall it is my most disappointing experience ever! My grand daughter was amazing throughout the whole sorry process.

Been a few times but hardly got to go on anything today due to long wait times, expected during summer holidays but obviously upsetting for the kids who patiently wait for hours to only visit and go on 2 or 3 rides

This is a great family theme park. If you have kids from very young to 10ish then there is lots for them to do. Park is much more compact than Alton Towers so much easier to meet with family for lunch or to swap children! Staff were all amazing too

Went with a toddler and baby so we mostly sat on kiddie rides. They seemed out dated and worn out. Everything creaked. Could do with renovating and (maybe more than) a lick of paint. However, staff seem friendly. In all honesty I wouldn t recommend for a day out. We stayed in the Safari Hotel that night. The initial plan was to spend the second day at Chessington too but we drove to Legland instead! We spent less than 2 hours here. Waste of time, money and energy!

Pros

Pros

Chessington is set in lovely themed areas and it's size means (relatively small) getting around is easy even with a double buggy.

There are LOTS of rides despite it's size and lots of animals. The animals and in particular the Lions, Tigers and Bush Dogs have tonnes of space.

Likewise the Gorillas were content enough to be mating as we saw a baby gorilla

We travelled with a 3 year old and a 18 month old and so there not that many rides for them BUT we already new this would be the case.

Scorpion Express was perfect and lots of fun for our three year old.

Cons

Queue times FOR EVERYTHING were horrendous.

Try waiting for ANYTHING for 1 hour with a three year old.

Room on a Broom is a brand new 'attraction' for 2019. The best thing about it was the Costa mid way through the queue. It is NOT a ride it is truly terrible. And involves walking around a house with little interactive screens telling a story. This would be better suited to the theming of a long queue than the actual attraction! I thought it might be like Peter Pan at Disneyland. It is NOT a ride. Do not waste your time here.

Zufari has a min height limit of 90cm. As animals is what we love as a family it was crazy we couldn't take our son on our laps or being held (he's 18 months).

Queuing (cont.)

If I had wanted to go on the Vampire/Dragons Fury rides it would have been a 2 hr ride for each.

The park is open 7hrs. So you'd spend >50% of your day WAITING if you wanted to go on these.

Fast Track is more expensive than a ticket itself but is beside the point. Theme parks need a more intelligent way to get people on to and off rides faster in a staged manner.

Food

Is all awful. Assume you will be travelling home having eat a lot of sh*t.

Round up

We did have a good time but with changes it could have been a great time .

I paid about 700 pounds for a night in a thematic room in which there was no internet access, the TV channels were not working, the promised children's movies could not be seen, the toilet seat was broken, the water of the toilet cistern was running hard, and my wife could not He let go and he always called me to help. We called a guy at the hotel reception, who could not help us because it was late in the evening and we had to call too early. But how to call early after we came back from dinner for that we had to go between two hotels several times while we were at the restaurant. How is it possible to have a prepaid dinner and have no place at your hotel's restaurant and have dinner at the next hotel? Staff at the hotel reception desk is absolutely inadequate can not guide you and to understand what the hotel rules are to ask about anything. When you ask, they can not answer you and they start ringing the phones and ask each other what to do. I'm absolutely disappointed with this hotel. I do not recommend it to anyone. The park is great but the hotel is disgusting!
Dopspis:
I failed to mention the pool in the hotel. Reading the brochure, I can see that his working time is until 9 pm and we drove us out at 7:50 pm. Surely there is something I miss, but it's too an awful experience for one overnight!

The queues are long unless you have a fast pass, then instant riding and fun. Food, treats you name it it's overpriced, to Expensive. Great place to be if you got money though . All types of foods and treat places and little side games apart from the big rides.

A really good day out, has something for everyone. Young or old. We went with with a over 50, over 40, 23, 19, 13 and 7 year old, and all had a lovely day. Has a lot of food and drink stalls all around, toilets are pretty much everywhere. The zoo is a little depressing but the rides are good.

Its an ok place, I do think it needs a bit of TLC as a couple of the rides had broken down and generally the place is looking tired. We did have lovely day but the queues were all incredibly long as such for the whole day we managed only 6 rides which is a little disappointing. You can definitely do two days here and thats what I would recommend. Don't come here expecting to see a wealth of animals as its the rides that dominate the park with animals littered between them. Overall ok but let down by the lack of maintenance and long queues.
