Perfect place for families you do spend all day and have a fun
Chessington is a fantastic theme park and my wife & I have visited several times with our one year old. We'd highly recommended the Gruffalo ride, the Carousel and the Flying Jumbo's for a small toddler!
Love a theme park and love a zoo so when you put the two together what more can you ask for. Great for families with some exciting rides for those who like it a little faster than others.
Dont bother ! Very rude staff, snappy and obnoxious.
Nice place. Good day out but won't be travelling back. Places nearer home just as good.
I've now bought an annual pass as my 3 and 1 year old are ecstatic every time we visit. There's lots to do regardless of weather, but we spend most of our time on the Gruffalo ride which is loved by all.
The park is clean, there's changing stations for little ones and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
We also visited for the festive period and saw Santa and his reindeer. The whole experience was the best Santa visit we've had and I'd not hesitate to go again this year.
Its better to stay at home and twiddle your toes than to come Chessington. The UK needs to up its theme park game.
Great family day out, ques very long but in the protection for covid-19 it was expected. Shop areas and walkways in need of a revamp aswell as restaurants but did not hinder the day
Had a great visit, very fun and enjoyable. We went at a lovely time as there wasn't much queues max. 10 min if even that! Got to go on rides multiple time! However if I wanted to stay on I had to go to the back of the queue although it was clear to see that the ride would not be full ... which was a bit frustrating!
Rameses Revenge wasn't working as usual. The Dragon Fury broke half way my visit, I was lucky enough to go just before, some people were stuck! However there was a quick reaction from staff it started to work again. One of the Vampire seats weren't working so only 1 was going round, however there wasn't that much people so cant really complain... staff were also trying to fix it between the rides!
The tigers were beyond amazing, loved the bridge where they can just walk across, also when on Tiger Rock, you go under the bridge and the tiger was just laying there watching the log boats go pass. Also enjoyed the sealife were we got to stroke a starfish and shrimp. The staff there are well informed about the animals as I did as some questions.
Downloaded the Chessington App and it was very useful as I could see queuing times... however it did say Vampire was closed- when it was opened! Good thing we checked the boards and went... I was very sad to see its closed as it's one of my favourites! - All turned out good though! So maybe update the app more frequently.
A place for all ages really
Overall a very good time! I will be back soon... got a Chessington Season Pass!
Wouldn't go again to busy rides out of service all they want you to do is spend more getting fast track
Too crowded! No sign properly for verything. Firstly, no sign for entrance and everyone drived in safari hotel and got a queue for 30 min. Near the hotel gate got a guy there and reminded each car that they have to drive the other way. During the day is a longest queue ever around 120min for each ride. All the rude is short and simple . So many game needed to pay extra as the fun fair. The map is really bad. even you have the map, still don t know where to go. And now still waiting at the car park for 1 hour can t get out.
Chessington was amazing. Despite going on a Saturday the queues for the rides were not long at all. Maximum waiting time was 60 minutes. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the toilets were kept clean.
Our children aged 7 and 8 were tall enough to go on most of the brave adventures rides apart from rattlesnake and rameses revenge.
Had an amazing time with my 8 year old twins. First time going there and must say is really child friendly. Would recommend
The park itself is generally ok, got enough amenities and is pretty tidy. The only issue is the queues!!! App is very good, tells you the queue times, but it's not worth buying fast tracks most of the time, we bought one, skipped the main queue, however still spent 35 minutes waiting in the main queue to get on the ride! But other than that alright, keep an eye out for offers as the park is quite expensive for entry!
Parking is on the field so can get very muddy, they had to waive the parking fee!
Visited on a Family + friends day so we did not have to pay. Small queues for the rides which was great. Its looking very run down and could do with some cleaning up to the park to enhance the experience.
We drive an electric car and I was impressed that right at the front of the car park were some charging points which we promptly attached our car to for the return journey.
PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE! Very crowd and you have to wait 30-45 minutes if you don t have the fast track ticket
Positives are friendly, helpful staff, negatives ridiculously overpriced, really felt ripped off a few times, with food and the cost of fast track. Wasn't given a map on entry and felt the whole place was confusing to navigate round. Used to love coming here years ago but lost its magic
Good organization in the pandemic. a few closed cafes, but there is a place to eat and buy ice cream or coffee. While standing in line, the distance kept masks required during several rides.
10 stars if i could.. U go at the right time and you have a great family day out. Relaxed unrushed and enjoyable.. Holds lots of amazing memories from the 90s to now
Bank Holiday Sunday or Monday.
Or both
They let far to many people in now, to try and make you buy fast track. We only stayed around 5 hours and spent 3 of that queing for 3 rides. Won't be going again.
Excellent took the two girls 13 years and 6 years and plenty of things for both of them to do, park and hotel very clean, would go again
We visited the zoo last week, it was our first outing since the lockdown and I was very disappointed with the organisation or I should say the lack of it. There was no staff present and there was nobody checking if people were maintaining the 2m distance. This was specially visible in the gorillas and spider monkeys enclosures and by the penguins were people didn t adhere to the rules and didn t keep safe distance.
Nice place for a family day out, tasty doughnuts and beautiful animals! Shame the vampire ride was closed when I went as that was probably the only truly fun ride for an adult.
Day visit. Queuing for 90 minutes for the cobra only to find out that it's broken down. prepaid for food and drink and you'll find out that every single drink is sugar free and you're only limited to 3 restaurants.
Food costs too much and lucky to get on 5 rides in half term
A wonderful day out and the glamping was excellent. The glamping fast track pass for the first hour of the day is a great bonus, just plan the rides you want to go on the day before.
Theme parks are always good and chessington is no different. I would say this is a good theme park for smaller kids and families as the rides are not too big or scary. The things i don't like is the limited choice of food which as you can expect is overly priced and I would not mention it if the food was value for money but it was a let down unfortunately. From memory Alton Towers and Thorpe Park have McDonald's, Burger King and a KFC in them as well as loads of other food options. The restaurants at Chessington may be called grill and barbecue but they literally don't sell any grilled products. All in all its worth. Visiting once with he family or if your not too keen fast rides then this is a good stepping stone. I would also recommend fast track for some of the rides as the wait times can be long.
Ok but queuing forever and the fast pass is a RIP off.
Very fun family centric theme park. Designed for younger families but does cater for adults too.
Generally disappointing, antiquated and in desperate need of rejuvenation.
Manged 3 rides in 5 hours then gave up. Absolute torture.
Best theme park for any family. With the added attractions ie zoo and sealife.... Really great day out or rather days out. You will definitely need two to three days to cover all the rides and animals.
Has gotten so much better since I was a kid. Amazing place for kids and the Safari hotel is awesome with great food.
Twice visited and twice it rain and twice we had to go back home and policy is no refund. Hopefully find time to visit without any hiccups.
Great day out for the family, but for the price you pay for a ticket, the ques are insane, 75 mins for a 3 min ride? I understand that the place is popular but maybe limit tickets per day to ease the congestion, god knows what it will be like on a lovely summer day covid-19 free.
Still the park is a great day out! Magical for the kids, staff were very helpful and friendly, great zoo and sea life center.
Can spend all day at Chessington. Lots to do for all family.
Really enjoyed the short break here. It was a good time for younger kids with rides that were suitable for our 6 year old. Would have been good with some larger rides for adults but tbh the kids rides were still really good fun.
Took our 3 children to Chessington on Saturday and had an amazing time. As I'm disabled we had an access pass which meant we didn't have to queue. I was really impressed that they offer that service for disabled people. The only slight moan I would have is that there should be more of the refillable drink stations and in some places the ground was very uneven for my mobility scooter.
Perfect excuse to have fun with the kids totally worth it but i recommend you to buy a fast pass as lines can be very big for some rides and you save time but overall amazing
best place in the world if only you could have it to yourself. the queues are a nightmare, so get there early or invest (heavily) in a ticket that enables you to jump the queues. staff always excellent.
Great day out for kids. The zoo is basic and there is a sea world. You don't have much of the larger animals. Better for younger children. Worth staying at the hotel on site. Food expensive however many delivery services available with shops and restaurants nearby.
Some really good rides for all ages unfortunately anything outside seems to break as soon as any sort of rain hits it. We experienced 4 breakdowns in one day and whilst we got fast passes to compensate it did waste a lot of our time. App is a god send to work out wait times so definitely worth downloading ahead of time to plan things out
Some rides definitely need a good maintenence as they look very old. Dragon's Fury is very noisy and there are few rides for small kids right under it. You have to think about reducing noise level significantly.
Bit dissapointed took 3 year old granddaughter. Not many animals to see there
Half the park was closed! If we'd not booked the additional Christmas activities we would only have had a handful of rides to go on and this was not enough to keep 6 children under 8 occupied for more than a couple of hours!!
Super fun great accommodation just to long to wait for some rides like 2h for the vampire.
Great place :) not enough day to visit all rides :D enjoy it tho :)
Great day out. Could do with improving the disability passes. Should not have to re que for a piece of paper when we already have our passes.
Took my daughter here absolutely beautiful park! Unfortunately most of the animals was away sick, or out of sight, but there is still so much to see and do here!!! Eaisly one of my little angels favourite days out!
Fun place to take my grandson but very expensive. Site map hard to follow.
Me and my sister took our kids, 1years and 7 years here and they loved it. So did we! Food was lovely (a little expensive but not too bad) and staff were great. Plenty around to do as Well we stay for a few nights. Deffintly return.
Perhaps have all the food and drink stands open on a hot weekend
Expensive day out,but lots of fun and lots of queuing for rides. Fast pass is expensive.
Absolutely fab day out. For kids and adults alike! It's a theme park with all the roller coasters and various other hair raising rides (it also has rides for the younger ones). Entry onto rides is measured by height for children. As well as the theme park it has a vast zoo with many animals including Sea lions, Giraffe, tigers and lions and many more! All this is within vast grounds (you will walk miles during your day out here). Don't worry there are many places to stop and get a drink or something to eat or just to stop and have a sit down. Entry is expensive but does cover all your rides and entry to Zoo. Obviously food and drinks etc are extra!
Had the most amazing weekend. Ideal for families and young children. So much to see and do. Can't wait to go back
We visited early September but after the schools have started. Absolutely dead, half price and no queues! Loved it.
Weekend park with overnight stay. Toilets shut off all over the park with no portable loo replacements. Run out of food in smoke house by 14:30 and no milk for tea. Very young staff and the majority with little experience. Fun rides spoilt More
A fun day out. Loads to do for young and older children. Normally id say you could do everything in a day at a UK park, however I think Chessington could be done in 2 days, especially with an overnight stay in their lodge. In one day, with worst queue being 30 mins, we didn't get everything completed, but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The queue times at the ride entrances were always wrong, and sometimes actually better than advised. But this wasn't that big deal... other than when worse than advised, our children thought it was the biggest injustice! Cant please everyone :)
It was really heartbreaking to see the animals being sooo miserable. I don t understand the reason to keep giraffes and rhinos in an adventure park (?) anyway. But they were so unhappy, they didn t even move, at first we thought they were statues. My family, friends and I are not going back, which is really unfortunate, because the whole adventure park is amazing and lots of fun, but there s no way we ll support the suffering of those animals.
Lots to do, kids loved it, only downside the app. It is a good idea but the map lags as you are using it to get directions so you can be walking in wrong direction for a while before it catches up. It maybe an idea to put ride/shop names on map to aid navigation. Only 1 ride my son couldn't go on being too small at 1.31m but he loved dragons fury even if we only ever rode in the back of the car.
It was a great place. A little jaded, maybe after a busy summer season, it needs a bit of update , repainting etc.
It's 20 years since I last visited , and some of it was exactly the same.
The old bus thatifted up in the air was rusty in places.
Chessington is a must for theme park loving young families. Geared up for 3 up to early teens Chessington is great for a day out.
Like all Merlin attractions it can be pricey.
Queue times have been acceptable on all our visits over the years. Stop over in the hotel and visit Thorpe Park and LEGOLAND as they are both close enough by car. You can also nip into central London in the train.
Such a fun day out for young kids, teenagers and adults.
Also great with covid cleaning things all the time
Lovely quiet day out (term time). All rides working and no ridiculous queues. Sea life centre and zoo nice touch.
Good place haven't been here in years so was looking forward to it like i remember however on the day felt let down that a good 5 to 6 rides were closed
it's ok if you live localish but definitely not worth a 2 hr plus drive ,good job we had free entry
Good fun! Accommodating staff. Visited for my son's birthday. Would visit again...
Worth the visit, plenty of stuff to do for the kids. The hotel is pretty good but the food in both the restaurants are slightly pricey for the average person. Breakfast is really good with a large selection on offer. Would definitley visit again.
When you book make sure you also prebook your meal dates & time otherwise you'll go hungry! The restaurants are fully book before you arrive or only times are way after little ones bedtime.
We had a lovely day out, very good for wheelchair users (except one incident where they wouldn't let my son go on one of the rides but that was poorly informed staff rather than Chessingtons a fault. Had a lovely day out and all seemed very organised (except for wheelchair access LEAVING the Vampire ride, which is not great). Kids had a lovely day and so did the adults, staff are friendly. With regards to the drink tickets (pay for free refills all day) is a brilliant idea but doesn't tell you ONLY COVERS SUGAR FREE DRINKS WHICH CONTAIN ARTIFICIAL POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SWEETENERS ASPARTAME AND ACESULFAME.
Great day out! Was there 5 years ago, now even better with updated areas. Will go again.
Great if you want to spend the day standing in a queue. Too many people let in, no distancing. Q times 1-2 hours.
Loved the rides, but where were the tigers. Hate the rip off food , Costa ok
Wish it stayed open later and hidden charge about parking when leaving. Had an amazing time otherwise.fun for all ages.
A not so child friendly resort in surrey in terms of the staff behaviour. I have been to this place with my children and visiting friends at various occasions and seasons. So many adventures and fun activities for children and adults are available here. Though there were past incidents reported from this place including child falling off the kids overhead walks, they now seem to have prudent security arrangements in place to protect children from falls and injuries. Staff seem to have not been trained adequately to deal with customers in a polite and child friendly manner. Their online and offline communication system are not perfect especially when they communicate with customers regarding other events held there during normal seasons. Once when I took my children there for a visit the staff stopped us at the gate saying you can t enter as another event was taking place inside for pre-booked visitors, though we had an annual pass. Only then and there at the gate we were informed that annual pass does not entitle customers to visit there any time you want to, and there were conditions for entry. We were turned away even after repeated requests, as we went there with children excited to have fun there. Children were disappointed though they had annual pass. And the way staff dealt with us was not appropriate of those of a children s centre.
Chessington is otherwise a nice place for children and family fun. Great car parking facility and hotel stay. Apt for a full day enjoyment and a night s stay.
the only decent rides are the gruffalo and tiger one. the track leading up to the first drop of that spinny dragon one (idk its proper name lmao) literally moves from side to side.
why is rameses revenge never on, apparently it's only on when it's busy but it was busy last summer when we went and it still wasn't on.
the food and hotels are nice but we were moved into the one at the safari hotel several times when we were meant to be at the other buffet type place.
Have visited Chessington on 3 occasions, most recently for our sons second birthday in October. We went with a group of kids aged 2 to 13 and there s plenty for them to do and allows the adults to get involved too. There s plenty of car parking availability at a small charge and if you choose to travel by train, there s also buses supplied by chessington that offer a pick up and drop off service. I like to get here at opening to avoid the queuing for bag searches / entry. It s also a great opportunity to go to your preferred rides first before queues start to form as some rides can easily be 45 minute plus queuing time.
There s a very good choice of restaurants here too. Again I m probably stating the obvious but these get very busy between 12:30 and 2pm so plan your day wisely. There s so much to do and It s a fantastic day out for the full family! Enjoy!
Hotel room was gorgeous, bed was 2 singles on wheels put together instead of a double so when our 5 year old got in with us the beds moved apart and she fell to the floor at 4am, views fantastic unfortunately staff do not know what they are doing severe lack of training. Had to explain what a zinfandel rose wine was at 2 separate bars as the staff did not know. It took on 15 mins to make a simple cocktail. It took 30 mins to check in (after queuing) I was asked 4 times how many children and adults from the same person in this time. When we commented on how long it took, we were told that the assistant was only 15 and it was his first week, yet he was not being supervised. This resulted in several random charges being put on my debit card throughout our stay yet the hotel could not provide any receipts to prove charges and when we complained it took over an hour for the manager (Henry) to rectify leaving us late getting into the park. even when we told the manager no one cared about us he failed to so much as apologise. will not be returning. Premier in 5 mins away, if I ever go back. lots more wrong with the hotel but will follow that up in a letter. The park and its staff were excellent, however.
Good stay at the theme park. Enjoyed the zoo and most of the rides. Kids had a great time. Food was okay. Value for money is... Reasonable.
Too busy and not enough decent rides to keep the kids entertained. Long queues with no entertainment while waiting
Good fun for kids and adults. Gurffalo ride is great. Other rides are okay. Usually busy and long queues so better spend some money on fast track tickets. Something for everyone. Recommended
Enjoyed it, but a lot of the eating and drinking places closed. New activity room on the broom is slow, a queue of about 50 people and a 75 min wait? We didn't bother, wondered what they would do if it was really busy!
Excellent day out. Only disappointment was that it shut at 5pm.
Great family day out. Lots to see and do. Queue times not too bad considering it was Easter. Overall a positive experience
Not bad but as expected long q for rides and not enough places to get drinks on one of the hottest days of the year. The maps and signage need work as they don't really help. Its ok if you live fairly locally, but if you are making a special trip from far away there are probably better choices.
