I wasn't much in the market for a new vehicle as I was in love with my '08 Rav, but my husband wanted me to upgrade to a current Highlander. I grudgingly went for a test drive and to perhaps talk to Sheila. She was terrific! She was sympathetic to my thinking. During our test drive together she helped me see how the Highlander fit my "adventuring" with all my gear in tow and very comfortable seating as well. The electronics are totally overwhelming for me but Sheila spent at least an hour walking me through much of it, and set my cell phone up as well. We made the purchase on the Costco plan so there were no negotiations, but I was a hard sell and Sheila actually made the whole process smooth and painless (and interesting!). Oh -and the Highlander really IS a nice ride!

This was my first time visiting this repair shop and I will definitely be back. I needed my alignment done and I wanted my brakes checked too. But most importantly, I eanwan to make sure my car would be in the best possible shape for the upcoming crummy-weather months.

I loved the ease of being able to schedule my appointment on their website. I chose an available date and time that worked for me and was able to select the services I wanted done. Super easy and convenient! I was quoted prices for the services I wanted done, gave the guy my keys, and took a seat in the waiting area until my partner came to pick me up.

I got a call a couple hours later letting me know what they found and asking for my okay to perform the services they felt my car needed. At that time they also mentioned services that were recommended based on the mileage, and I asked that those be performed as well after being quoted a total price for it all. Three hours later I got another call letting me know my car was ready to be picked up.

When I arrived I saw my car waiting for me, and I was super happy to see they'd cleaned the exterior! I was planning a trip to a car wash this weekend, so this was a well-timed and greatly appreciated surprise! The total cost for repairs was $40 less than I was quoted (again, nice surprise), and the ladies at the cashier desk were super friendly - we chatted a bit about the upcoming holidays as I was checking out.

I have struggled to find a dedicated auto repair place for my car, as I've had one disappointing experience after another. I am thankful for the wonderful service I received at Carlson Toyota - prompt, convenient, polite, and affordable. I will absolutely be bringing my car back here for all her future needs.

We recently leased a 2015 Sienna and I had a great experience working with Kelly Rogers! She was very helpful & professional throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Kelly and Carlson Toyota to anyone who is looking to purchase or lease a new or used vehicle!

We purchased our new Highlander at Carlson Toyota. We last purchased a Sienna from them in 2004, which we still have and which we are keeping because it runs great. Wendell was a great salesperson and we were so pleased with the help he gave us in making our purchase. We brought our new Highlander home, and our daughter loved it and went to Carlson Toyota the next day and bought a certified pre-owned Rav4. We look forward to more years of great service at Carlson Toyota!

My wife and I had a great experience working with Mee and Ryan at Carlson Toyota. They helped us find answers to several questions about the previously owned minivan that we were preparing to purchase. The entire management and financial team provided for an incredibly smooth purchase. We highly recommend the team at Carlson Toyota.

I needed to get my car serviced and my lease was coming due so I thought while I was waiting for my car, I would look at new cars. David Reed just happened to ask me what I wanted to look at /test drive etc.. I ended up buying a 2016 Scion because the price was right, David was so easy to chat with and I felt he was an honest fun guy. I had to leave in the middle of the process and he sent me a picture of the car so my husband could see what I was interested in purchasing/lease. Thanks David your the best!

We bought a 4Runner from Josh in May at Carlson. Our experience was a very positive one. Josh really worked hard for us to make the deal happen. We did our homework and they gave us the best deal, bottom line. We felt Josh was honest and upfront, and we never felt any sort of pressure. Everyone we dealt with from the Carlson sales team was great. We also had remote start installed and based on that, we are confident that getting our vehicle serviced there will be a positive experience as well.

Had a great experience purchasing my brand new RAV4 from Carlson! Steve Boulka was a great salesman, he made sure I got everything I was looking for in my vehicle, and did a lot of work to find a Toyota dealer willing to make a trade to get me the options I wanted. He spent a lot of time answering questions and getting me all setup in the new vehicle. I would highly recommend both Carlson and Steve Boulka.

Paul Kunz in the finance department was also great to work with. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful!

When I signed on to write this review I was a little surprised by some of the negative comments, because it sure hasn't my experience.
Not only have I bought 3 vehicles there I have had them serviced there also and I have always been satisfied and yesterday was no exception.
As always the staff was friendly and professional, the dealership is immaculate, the cookies were fresh and the coffee hot, but most important my vehicle was repaired and serviced in the time frame I was quoted and everything that was done was fully explained by my service writer Josh.
Can't expect more than that.

We have been doing business with Carlson Toyota for 24 years and could not recommend them more highly. Scott Backman in the Service Department has always been helpful and trustworthy. Just recently we had an outstanding experience with Tim Froemming and Matt Anderson in sales (along with other staff that assisted with the sale). Their customer service goes beyond what is expected. Well done, we greatly appreciate it.

I have rav4 bought new from the dealer n barely drove for 3 years, has 31000 mileage on it now. Recently it started making very loud grinding noise and took them for a service. And they said my front pads are worn out n needs to be changed. I was very shocked, most newer cars last brake pads up to 45-50000. And I talked to my brother in law who is mechanic said the same thing. I talked to service person and the manager for a reasonable price since it has such a low mileage and it s a Toyota car. (trustworthy vehicles) somehow I never got satisfying response from people at the dealer. I admit my few visits prior to today s visit has been a good one. Today was very disappointing.
: reason I bought a new car is not to worry about major service till 50000.
My wife drives the car, it s her work vehicle and she is a very careful driver....

Took my vehicle in to fix the problem it was having after being informed from a previous mechanic that this Toyota dealership would be able to fix the issue. They charge $149 an hour by the way. Constant calling on my end to give information about previous inspections that happened so they would have knowledge of the previous work. End of story: I paid $165 for the same work done at a previous mechanic shop, nothing fixed. Don t waste your time or money.

I had a pretty good idea what I wanted when I showed up, Carlson did not have that truck. Test drove and looked at few, great vehicles but I had a pretty specific vision in mind. When I was about to give up they found the truck I wanted at another dealership, had it shipped to them quickly, and got it at the reasonable price I wanted. Josh was a honest and direct salesman, I never once caught him making up stuff he didn't know and he was always honest and direct in our dealings. No pushy tactics or other other sleazy none sense I've dealt with countless times before with salesmen.

I can't stand salesman and I can't stand dealerships, so I was pleasantly surprised when these guys really made this the best experience it could be. Its a nice building and location, has good people and Toyota makes good cars, no downside here.

Took our non running prius in. Quoted us 1200 to repair. After they replaced an expensive part they found the real problem which was minor. They removed the new part and we were out the door for $250. Very impressive and so refreshing to have a dealer that could have taken a totally different path.

Went in for a rear brake since they were grinding and fully expected that I would need a new rotor. But they said they could be resurfaced. Yeah! They didn't push for extras either. I will be back...not too soon I hope...LOL

I have two sections, one for SALES and one for SER...

I have two sections, one for SALES and one for SERVICE. Both were positive experiences that earned our customer loyalty.

SALES
We purchased our new Toyota Sienna in 2013. We are members of USAA a military bank that had pre-negotiated rates with Carlson that were the lowest we could find online. We appreciated a no-haggle experience with pricing and their partnership for military personnel. The salesperson was friendly and personable and led us through the process effectively. We got pitched the extended warranty but in a low pressure way, ultimately given how long we own our vehicles and the concern about electronics giving out in that time frame, we felt it was worth it to purchase the warranty to cover that aspect. However we felt we were given good information and were free to say no. We had planned to finance through our bank, but they offered 0% for 60 months through Toyota financing and the financing process was easy and fast.

SERVICE
We live about 30 minutes from the dealership, but we have chosen to go there for all our service. The service people are polite, professional and always have given us good information to make decisions. All of our service work has been covered under the ToyotaCare plan and so we have not paid any out of pocket expenses. Recently the plan expired and we were offered another two year extension for regular service that we purchased.

Most recently, I went in for a routine tire rotation and learned that all my tires were bad. I was confused how they could go bad so quickly, given no issues had been presented at my previous routine maintenance 5000 miles earlier. I spoke to the service manager, Jeff, who looked into my history and agreed that something didn't look right and asked me to bring the car back in for inspection. In the process, they learned that I had two bad front shocks, which led to uneven wear and on all wheel drive vehicle quickly wore out all four tires. Potentially this should have been caught in an earlier visit, but the wear was within spec though it was uneven.

The shocks were under warranty and the service manager also put in a claim with Toyota to cover the tires, however he indicated that Toyota often covers 2 tires and not 4, but he would do his best to advocate for me. The shocks were replaced immediately, but there was some difficulty getting the Toyota specialist scheduled to review the case and so I would need to come back. The vehicle had to be there overnight and Carlson arranged for a rental vehicle at the dealership under my extended warranty at no cost or hassle to me.

After a further delay with scheduling with Toyota, when I expressed concerns about driving around on bald tires during a MN winter, Carlson and Jeff went above and beyond. He drove another Sienna with AWD ( a must for our driveway) to me, picked up my vehicle, got my vehicle reviewed and tires changed, and returned my vehicle to me at my home. All this for the low low cost of $0. I don't know if Toyota or Carlson ultimately took responsibility for the damage to the tires as a result of the bad shocks, but they both have earned a loyal customer. Things won't go perfect in life, but how both companies handled an unfortunate situation is a testament to why we will continue to do business with them.

Thank you, Carlson and Jeff!

To others looking for a qualified, down to earth, enjoyable car salesman, find Tim Froemming at Carlson Toyota. May 2015 purchased a new 2015 Sienna van with help from Tim. Very lucky to get Tim as our sales associate, showed us our options and helped us throughout the whole car buying process.

I bought a 2015 Tacoma last week, trading in my 2000 Camry. It was the third Toyota that I have purchased from Carlson Toyota. Larry Cooley helped me with the purchase. Larry was very knowledgeable about the features of the truck and provided great service in arranging the installation of a Tonneau cover. He also thoroughly explained the operation all the new features that had been added to the 2015 Tacoma, since my 2000 Camry was built. Thanks Larry, for making my purchase such an enjoyable experience.

He made sure everything was ready the following Monday we came in completed the sale and are enjoying our new wheels. Thanks Ken and Carlson Toyota for making the whole buying experience a great one!

Carlson Toyota was my favorite dealership for 8 ye...

Carlson Toyota was my favorite dealership for 8 years. I got my 4 runner from them, it was a pre-owned but with a warranty through them. I was happy above and beyond for 8 years. Time came I had to replace it. I was looking for bigger trucks. Tried RAM, but as soon as I loved my 4 runner so much I decided to go back to look at Tundra. Wasn't too happy. Was looking for cloth seats but heated. Well Tundra is coming with only leather heated. And they let me drive limited, and I wasn't too happy, more money but not the features I was looking for. RAM and Ford feels like luxury SUV, Tundra feels like a truck. But the only one thing which turned us completely down was the pushiness. Joe, the sales guy was really good, not pushy, was trying to do his best to help, and then my husband asked about Costco auto program........ They are not the first, dealerships don't want even to hear that, well if you don't, don't be part of that program, guys!!! But we got another guy (I think maybe financial manager, not sure) oh my...... don't tell me that that program will save me 200 bucks, I won't believe..... You know why???? Because they refused to show us the Costco price, on a paper with Costco logo. He tried to explain something and then he said, well we don't go down below the MSRP price. Really?????? Everybody else does, you don't, really??? Why you are so badly fighting for $200, because probably it's not just 200, right? So........ sorry guys, I went and I got Ford instead. Though you could still have me as a customer if you wanted.... Maybe you should find better managers... Do your best to help, not to push!

Had a very good experience buying a car from Theo. We found a CPO camry that checked all the boxes we wanted and got it for an extremely reasonable price. The whole process was quick and painless (by car buying standards in any case), and Theo was pleasant and helpful throughout.

Fantastic experience leasing a car through Carlson Toyota! This is my first car buying/leasing experience and I was super grateful for the help of Andrew Hemmelgarn in navigating it. He made things very clear, listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I really appreciated that he didn't try to pressure me into any services I wasn't interested in--I had a very negative experience at another dealership where that happened. I LOVE the Corolla I'm leasing and I am thrilled with the price I'm paying for it, too. Thanks to everyone at Carlson for making my first car experience so awesome!

Carlson Toyota is our go-to for new vehicles - we and our grown children have now purchased many vehicles through Carlson. Wendell has handled the majority of these purchases - he is always friendly and easy to work with. In addition, he is thorough in explaining the features of our new vehicle(s), and he answers all of our questions. We recommend Carlson Toyota to others both for sales and service!

Do not try to apply Toyota Financing from this dealer. They told me I can't apply, because they need a proof of employment for next 5 years (if 5 years is your loan period). How ridiculous is that, who can prove they will be continuously employed for next 5 years. Later I went to Walser Toyota at Bloomington and did my Toyota Financing with 0% APY without any issue.

Please don t buy used vehicles from them. Their inspection report is nothing but BS.

After the meeting with the management, they agreed to fix the issue in my vehicle for half price. Bill Dalgaard (Service Manager) is very professional. Thank you Paige Carlson for personally looking into it. But I still stand by my initial comment. Dealership cannot operate a Used-car-sales department without thorough inspection of the vehicle and doing all the necessary repairs and maintenance. Used car sales are based on trust.

Chieng "Eddie" Yang was my sales person in burying a 2015 Rav4. Mr. Yang, without exception, made the experience of buying a vehicle a wonderful experience. He took the time to really listen to my needs regarding a vehicle and had detailed knowledge of each and every vehicle I considered buying. He was so personable and ready to help in any way he possibly could to make the purchase a success. No ego, no pressure, no hype. Just honest, straight forward trustworthiness. Mr. Yang's integrity, friendliness, knowledge and his truly caring for his clients created the best experience I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.

I bought a Sienna here in 2007. I had done my research to find a good car I would be able to trust. This one has made it to only 125K miles and has started needing work. I've been to this service center twice in October and both times they quoted me such high prices I felt I had fallen on tragedy. I thought my car was done for. They charged me a diagnosis fee to listen to my engine during an oil change and tell me it was 'fine'. They acted like I should be happy they ONLY charged me $62.50 to do that. When I came in again in a few weeks with the check engine light on, they adamantly refused to waive the diagnosis fee to look at it again a few weeks later. After pulling the code, they quoted me $518, to fix the O2 sensor. $518!!!!! They also quoted the sensor as being $166 - which if you google this item, not even a chance in hell it costs that much. They said it would be 2.6 hours of work. I watched the youtube of this AND the mechanic who did it and it was maybe 20 mins TOPS to do this task and still run the engine after. I'm having it done at a different place for less than HALF of what they quoted me. Also, when I told them their quote was insanely too high, they asked me to LEAVE the building. They didn't want to fix my car. I bought my car there and for 8 years have gone in to have it worked on. They've gotten a LOT of my money. They choose to lose a customer over a few hundred dollars of not even earned money. I don't even know how they sleep at night honestly. I know where I will NEVER be buying a car from again in my life.

I'm glad to have found my husband and I working with Larry of Carlson Toyota. After expressing to Larry what we were looking for, he was patient with us and our needs. Larry kept us in mind until the right vehicle came in. Only days after being traded in and passed safety inspection, Larry made sure we had the opportunity to test drive the vehicle, and provided the car history, which led to a purchase we could not be happier with.

Thank you Larry for keeping our needs in mind, finding the perfect vehicle for us, and keeping us out of a Minivan.

Just bought our 2015 Prius V at Carlson Toyota. Got that 'new car smile' right now! Great car... not only fuel efficient but also exceptional cargo area. Our salesperson, Blong Vang, was very helpful - patient, knowledgeable, good listener and quick to get things done. He frequently checked in with us as we waited for delivery. He was especially helpful showing us the tech system and the features of the car when we picked it up. We would definitely recommend Carlson Toyota, and Blong!

I don't normally post reviews, but I felt this was important to share.

I recently purchased a 2010 Corolla from this dealership with just under 100,000 miles on it. I was told that the vehicle had been gone through with a fine tooth comb, and that it was ready for the next owner. Now, they did do some good things such as replace the brakes, the weather strip around the moon roof, and repainted the rear bumper. That all was good. But, the other shoe dropped as they say. A month after purchasing the vehicle I had to have the rotors replaced. Carlson put on new brakes but apparently did not check and replace the rotors. The rotors were shot so a very nasty vibration and squeal started. Next, I noticed smoke coming out of the tail pipe upon starting the vehicle. I had to have the spark plugs replaced as those were shot too. Next, a nasty squeal sound came from under the hood. I had to have the serpentine belt replaced. And for the finale, the alternator went out. This all within a couple of months of purchasing the vehicle. I chose to have the work done elsewhere.

I find it hard to believe that these items were not noticed if a thorough inspection had been completed. I know that I purchased it as-is, so I understand those liabilities and knew that attempts at getting this work done on their dime, or even a reduced cost, would have been futile.

The one piece they should have made right is what really gets to me. A day after purchasing the car I realized the floor mats were missing. They were there when I bought the car, and must have been taken out prior to selling the vehicle to me. I called the salesman I worked with, Tim Froemming, and he said he'd get mats for me right away. I left my number with him and did not hear back for about two weeks. I called Tim again and he said they were in (didn't bother to call me), so I could come pick them up. I do not live close to Coon Rapids, so finding a time to travel down took some time. When I called Tim to tell him I was heading down to pick up the mats, I was informed that the mats had disappeared from his office, so he'd have to find another set.

I waited a while hoping Tim would call. He did not. When I finally called Tim back he stated, "We have not had another Corolla come in, so we are waiting for another Corolla and you'll get those mats. Call back in a week or so."

I was under the impression I would be getting new mats. After all, they were in my car before final detail, and missing after we were sold the car. A reasonable solution would have been to take a set of mats from the parts department and give them to me. Come to find out I have been waiting all this time on used mats. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Carlson Toyota, if you read this I would appreciate a response back from the sales manager. I do not wish to work with Tim Froemming regarding the mats as I don't feel my concern was taken seriously. We are talking a $99 set of replacement mats after the amount of money I had to spend on repairs after buying this car from you. If you need receipts as proof of the work, I have those and will be happy to send your way. I'd consider this matter resolved so long as I get a set of black carpet mats for my 2010 Corolla.

I purchase many vehicles, as I buy my sales reps new cars to drive for their daily sales routine. I end up having to purchase at various dealerships, as I have reps throughout the U.S. I called Shaun McDade at Carlson Toyota, to secure a new 4Runner. Shaun didn't know me from Adam. But he was professional, punctual, and very attentive in every step of the process. I can't say this often.....but my buying experience at Carlson was close to seamless!!! A personal thanks to Shaun and the staff there, for a GREAT buying experience. I'll be back!!!!!

A very nice place, however I've had many problems with them as of late.

To start, my buying experience was great. I was in the market for a Prius and they had a handful of good 2010s. After a few test drives and number crunching, I settled. Coordinating the process was easy, to the bank, and back, and out I was with my new car.

I had to bring the vehicle in due to some paint imperfections I discovered, which they were happy to fix. I scheduled an appointment, and when I was bringing my car in, I had seen their garage techs (younger) flinging what looked like cardboard or something around the shop. Keep in mind this is where they work on customer vehicles and supposedly were at the time. Seems a bit ridiculous, but I let the manager know of it and put it past me.

I decided that the warranty wasn't for me. Not that it might not be worth it, or that someone convinced me otherwise; just that I didn't feel necessary. I decided to cancel. Now it's been a back-and-forth type of situation where I've had to talk to multiple people, finally get back to the financial person that sold it to me, and he took care of the paperwork... one stipulation. The funds that got put forward for the warranty have still not been returned to my bank. It is incredibly difficult to get a hold of anyone in the Finance department (even though when I walk in there are 3 of you talking to each other not seeming to do much. No offense, but really?) to fulfill anything you need done as a customer.

All-in-all, it's an okay place, but I wouldn't buy from them again in hindsight, after all the difficulty it has been.

One of the worst Toyota experiences. Service Manager Jeff was highly disrespectful to my father and I. He got extremely passively aggressive with his tone voice and demeanor (I got the feeling he looked down on my father for his broken English); he refused to explained the process to us and got aggravated anytime I tried explain our concerns or had questions. I would have rather shopped elsewhere. The sales person I worked with was fine with communication, but could not remember the little things. When I would give him my information, it would go right into his pockets and on numerous occasions would forget to give it back. Additionally, I was never made comfortable there, could clearly tell that no one wanted to help me and they continuously to forget to do things. The process took so much longer because they forgot to put the registration (tabs) on the car or when I was trying to close the deal I had to wait around for someone to help. In an area where there are at least five Toyota dealerships within an hour, I would rather go else where in the future. Only reason they got my business was because I knew what I wanted and they had it.
Additionally, when I asked the finance guy about the work that was done on the car he acted like he has no idea what a Carfax was or how it worked. It was like pulling teeth to get them to "rotate the tires" and I never received any proof that it was done. Then in the deal I asked for floor mats to protect the car. When we finally got the car, the sales guy acted like he did me some huge favor by getting them for me.
If you don't care for the service you get, come here. If you want to feel welcomed and feel comfortable with the people you are working with.. go elsewhere. The sales guy didn't even give me a card of his.

UPDATE:
Waited and waited and waited for the tabs for the plates to come. When the expiration on the 21 day permit came I called the dealership asking them where the tabs were because I was told that they were going to be mailed. Well the cashier told me that I had to come into the dealership to pick them up because supposedly I was called on the 19th. When I arrived to the dealership I was extremely upset. I asked to speak with the sales manager about my experience in which he took me to the office, listened and told me that there was nothing he could do. When I told him there was he said he would get back to me. Three days later and still have yet to hear back from the sales manager.

IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT, PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE

Like so many others, we walked in not intending to buy. Our salesperson was, by personality, very patient, very kind and not at all pushing us to purchase. Our thanks to Dan for making our experience a very positive one. We did drive home in a new vehicle and can honestly say it was because the entire staff went out of their way to make sure we drove away happy with our decision. Follow up was exemplary.

This is the second new vehicle that we have purchased at Carlson's. The reason we came back was because of the superior treatment and deal we got the first time in 2013. Again with this new vehicle our salesman Preston Buechler did not disappoint us. We hit it off right away, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the vehicle, and made the experience very pleasant. We are very pleased with everyone we dealt with at Carlson's, When it's time for our next vehicle, we will be back.. We will highly recommend this dealership, and Preston, to anyone that asks.

I had a great experience working with Preston. He understood what I was looking for and helped me find the best deal. He was very knowledgeable about the car (Toyota Corolla) I had chosen and very helpful getting me the right color and interior when what I wanted wasn't on the lot. He spent time with me explaining all the features and setting up Bluetooth. Best part is, the guy has a great sense of humor and was fun to work with. Thanks, Preston! I love my car.

On December 30th, I was ready to buy a Toyota certified, 2019 RAV Hybrid XLE from Carlson. I countered with an offer that was approximately $150 to $200 less than what was asked. The salesperson up to this point was exemplary, however she didn't have the authority to conclude the deal. She handed to phone off to TJ Vieau. Jump starting the conversation, I explained my pricing logic- might as well been talking to a brick wall. I was met with a blase, impudent response that " We have only $52 profit in the car." Really ? That's not what the US market reflects. NO for an answer is fine, but when the conversation is killed by a cold, apathetic sales manager, I will take my business to someone who is appreciative. The great irony is two weeks later, I get an email that Carlson has lowered the price another $250 ! I'm giving an extra star to the salesperson who was great.

On January 3rd I took my wife s vehicle in for an oil change and let me tell you I am not impressed by the way things are handled. Everyone seems to be on edge and paranoid. I had a valve cover leak and when I opened my hood at home there was no oil around the valve cover as if they cleaned it off and never told me. Not impressed. Somewhere up the line of management there is an issue. I will not be returning for services nor do I want to discuss my experience with Scott. Best of luck to Toyota hope you guys can figure your issues out. I would recommend a therapist for some of these employees.

We recently purchased a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid from Carlson Toyota with the help of Jihan M. She was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and was very professional and efficient. The business office also impressed us with the short amount of time it took to complete the paper work.
