This is the 3rd Highlander, and 4th vehicle I have purchased from Carlson Toyota. I have never been disappointed. The vehicles are the best around; never have any difficulties, and if there is an issue, their maintenance and service department is top notch. Jihan was our sales clerk in two of our sales; she is dependable, entertaining, and always gets the job done.
Between the sales department, and the service department, we rate this dealership 5 stars. I have told all my friends to buy a Toyota!
I walked into Carlson Toyota in order to buy a new, right away I knew I want a Toyota but I didn't know which one or what I should get. As I walked in Wendell Harren approached me and started to help me out. After almost 3 hours of help and amazing support, I bought my first car! We walked into Carlson Toyota ready to buy a red 2012 Toyota Camry and drove out in a shiny black 2011 Avalon, polished inside and out!! Nick was eager to help us even after three delays on our initial appointment with him. He never pressured us, but simply showed us the Avalon, compared it to the Camry, let me take it for a test drive, and I was sold. He did show us other Camrys on the lot but I found this car to be the most comfortable. He was very pleasant to work with as were the other management people that we dealt with at Carlson. He did a great job walking my through the lot, showing me cars that aligned to the features I was looking for, and that were within my budget. Answered all my questions respectfully. Sales process was quick and easy. If you're looking for a Toyota, I'd definitely recommend Andrew (and the rest of the team) at Carlson Toyota.
BEST Car purchasing experience EVER. This is my 7th new car in my lifetime, last Toyota was in Southern California when Carter was President (and interest was 19.19%). Carlson Toyota was no pressure, easy to work with, all about me (the customer...very refreshing) and Jihan Moore was the best sales person I have ever worked with. She was still QUICKLY answering my text questions this week even though I've had my new Toyota a week ago. BTW, forewent the 0% financing to get all the rebate, got 1.74% financing (almost free and a heck of a lot cheaper than my Corolla I purchased back in the day) and Jihan made sure financing did better than our preapproved credit union loan of 1.79%.
I went through the Costco's Auto program and was pleasantly surprised with how straightforward the process was. Our contact, JR, was very diligent and willing to go extra miles to make sure we get the car which fits us most. I am very happy with my RAV4 purchase and would highly recommend Carlson Toyota to anyone who are in search of the next perfect vehicle.
This place is always horrible. Long waits to even get someone to come take your car, even longer waits for any kind of service. Go to ANY other Toyota dealer in town.
We needed a vehicle at the spur of the moment because the engine blew on our trailblazer, and we weren't sure what vehicle to replace it with. With the investigating and research, we chose to make an informed decision about the RAV4. Currently we own a Corolla Sport, and love it. Plus the reviews are outstanding for the RAV4.
Searching on the internet we found several Toyota dealers that had inventory we were interested in, including Carlson that is in our backyard. Not many reviews on that dealership, but we went anyway - to make our own opinion. WE ARE GLAD WE DID! Working with Ka Vue (salesman) was a true pleasure! We test drove several RAV4's. To ensure that was the route we wanted we also test drove a Camry. Nice car, but we chose the suv.
That being said, Ka worked with us for two days, never pressuring us, yet informing us of differences between 2013 and 2014 models, financing options, etc. We bought a 2013 Toyota Rav 4 XLE AWD. And absolutely love it!
Everyone at that dealership seemed like they were all on the same page! Greg (store manager), Mike (financing), Ka (and other salespersons) -- they all seemed like they were 'family' in a way. It was a VERY pleasant experience!
When we were working with Ka the first day, before we were getting ready to leave, Greg stopped by the table and introduced himself. Not having any idea we were in a pinch and needed a second vehicle he overheard us discussing and said he'd see if he could get us a loaner. Keep in mind; we were not buying yet, just looking. That said a lot to us, and we feel he went out of his way to help a guy out! :) Very kind! We never took him up on the offer, but still feel it was a kind gesture!
Ka never pressured us, never made us feel like we needed to buy the higher-end vehicle. We discussed each of the models features etc. again; never feeling like he had any problem talking about the same subject yet again. We not only went with the 2013 XLE but we were shown extensive financing options, were made aware of Toyota perks etc. (2 yr. maintenance checks) You name it, we were informed of it! By the time we were ready to leave, Ka ensured that we knew how to operate the extensive features, took time with us, and answered questions It was just really nice! Very nice guy!
When you are ready to do some research and make an informed decision we HIGHLY recommend you try Carlson Toyota in Coon Rapids, MN. They are awesome! (And they never asked us to say that!) :)
Carlson Toyota provided an excellent shopping experience. I used an employee buying program that directed me to Coon Rapids and I wasn't disappointed. I pretty much bought my vehicle via email and texting. I asked Juan for the total price including all fees and he emailed the total back to me pretty quickly. I wasn't sure if he had included everything as I've come to expect "extras" that are added later, but it was exactly the same when I signed the papers, which was a pleasant surprise. Juan's attitude and approach at the dealership made me feel like I was important...and at the end of the day, isn't that what all customers hope for? There were only a couple hiccups when I went to pick up my car...such as the service department being closed for the holiday and my accessories not being installed....but Carlson Toyota made it right in the end. This made what could have been a very disappointing experience a simple minor inconvenience. The end result left me a very happy and satisfied customer. I didn't feel any pressure to buy more than I wanted, but felt that my options were merely explained to me, which was awesome. I would recommend Carlson Toyota based on what I experienced.
Jihan "Gigi" was great to work with! She was really easy going and I felt really comfortable. She took the time to take me on a test drive and explain the vehicle to me. I would definitely recommend her when looking for a vehicle. It is always great to work with another woman too! The dealership is also really nice and spacious.
I have purchase 3 vehicles through Carlson. Have always been happy until recently. I have gotten 4 phone calls asking me to come in and upgrade my vehicle. Every time I have said no, yet they keep calling. Not very happy. I should only have to say no once. Not sure if I want to return at this point.

We had a fantastic experience at Carlson Toyota when I purchased my Corolla. My mother started looking into buying from them because of the Costco discount. She called around and found better prices elsewhere. She spoke with Kelly Rogers about the lower prices at different dealers. Kelly spoke with her manager Amanda Ciccarelli and agreed to beat the price by a specific amount. When we walked out of the dealership later that week, we felt confident in the purchase and price. I know that if we have any concerns, we can always get back in touch with them and the customer service will once again be phenomenal.

I would not let these people fix my bicycle.
I Purchased a Rav4 from a private party.
A condition of the sale was that the vehicle pass inspection.
I brought the vehicle to Carlson Toyota and waited patiently while they completed the inspection.
As I remember the cost was about $100.00.
A few months after purchasing the vehicle I took it to Costco for new tires.
Costco informed me the tires could not be replaced as there were a large number of lug nuts stripped.
They feared that removing too many of the nuts would shear enough of them that the vehicle would have to be towed.
I brought the vehicle to an independent shop for repair, 11 of the mounting studs and all the lug nuts had to be replaced.
I did not make the connection immediately, but the next time I was in for an oil change I realized Carlson Toyota was the last one to take the wheels off for my vehicle inspection.
I got the attention of Carlson s service manager, he apologized and assured me that Carlson Toyota would make an adjustment. He had me send him a copy of the invoice where I had the vehicle repaired and sent me out the door with a free oil change.
About 2 weeks later I called him asking the status.
He assured me they were working on it.
He never called back.
You decide, is this a place you want to do business?

I find it humorous that management at Carlson Toyota would rather employ a Customer Relations Manager then doing the correct thing when they clearly made a mistake.
Not only did your dealership make a mistake, but they refused to own up to it.

My purchase experience,
We called ahead to take a look at a 2017 Toyota Rav 4. Our sales lady, (i'm not going to name names) got it all ready for us to test drive the car when we got there. She was really nice. My husband took it out for a test drive. He thought it seemed ok. So we agree to purchase the car. As a reputable dealership i though we would sit down at a desk or a table to keep our privacy. Nope. We sat down where all the other customers were waiting to get there vehicle serviced. When the sales lady handed us over to the finance guy, We still sat with other customers. We finally moved into the finance office to sign paperwork and got the keys.
Three months later, still haven't received my license plates. Finance guy giving me the run around. Finally fed up. Called and talked to the corrected person and she said it was sent out on Friday. I just received it.
I'm not gonna go into details with the issues i been having with my car.
Let just say that I wouldn't go back and purchase a car from this dealership.
Just purchased a new Avalon, working with Wendell Harren. This probably was our best car buying experience, ever. Wendell was very nice, and very straight forward in explaining options, prices, etc., and did not try to push us into buying more vehicle/options than we really wanted. After a very pleasant experience with Wendell came the dreaded trip to the financial services guy to complete the sale where, based on past experience, we would be heavily pressured to add on every additional option, service contract, etc., known to man. Surprise!! Rick Mitchell, financial services manager, was just as straight forward as Wendll. The contracts made sense, the numbers totaled what we expected, it was low stress and great! Great dealership.
We purchased a used vehicle from Carlson Toyota about a week ago. It was the first time we have done business with them. Our sales person Matthew George was fantastic. He took the time one evening to go out and take pictures of a vehicle they had posted, but had not had pictures up loaded yet on internet. He was also very responsive to other requests we had. The vehicle was priced right (thanks to the sales manager Tim Kruse) and a very easy dealership to work with. I will look to Matthew and Carlson Toyota for our next vehicle purchase in the future.

purchased a 2017 Rav4 from Carlson. Larry Cooley was the staff person who assisted me. He promised he would make the transaction as painless as possible. I emailed the info on the car that I wanted and it was at the dealership within 2 days. I needed a car to drive while waiting for the insurance check, and Larry provided. My car was ready to go (with add-ons in place) when the check was ready. Larry and the other Carlson employees I dealt with were friendly and helpful I did not feel rushed or pressured. Would definitely use Carlson again. Larry was great!!
I recently purchased a used 2008 Camry with no warranty from Mr. Ka Vu. He was great to work with. Carlson was not responsible for the car once I bought it, yet I had two immediate issues with it: it pulled to the left when freeway driving and the CD player did not work. Jeff, the manager of the service department, took care of both issues for me at no cost. I could go to another dealer closer to my home, but now I know I will bring my car back to Carlson for any repair work and I will definitely return there when my husband or I need a new vehicle. I'm typically not the type to leave a negative review but I had not one, but two bad experiences here. I'm finishing a leasing agreement and I had come in to discuss my lease end options with a gentleman, expressed that I had put money down so that I could afford the monthly payments and he told me that "putting money down on a leased vehicle was a stupid decision." so thank you for insulting my decision that made it possible to do business with you. I then gave him my specific price range and he continued to only look at vehicles that I simply could not afford. I then had gone through the "inspection" as directed on their check list of things to do before returning the car and they gave me an estimate of my total. I was comfortable with paying them as I understood. Within a week of my lease end date, I had received a phone call to again discuss my lease end options, informed the man that I was told I had minor hail damage but not to worry about it only to have the man threaten that I would get charged "big bucks" if I didn't get things fixed through my insurance. I had to take a day off of work to drive to the dealership to have them confirm that it was actually major hail damage and that the inspection isn't an actual inspection but a pre-inspection inspection so it was basically pointless. (Please add the REAL inspection to your "check off" list for lease end things to do) My insurance was a miracle worker and was able to get everything done before I needed to return the vehicle. I was really hoping to buy out my leased vehicle from them but having been treated the way I was treated I had to do a hard pass.
We have owned Toyota's for the past 30 years. Was on a road trip driving through Minnisota and experienced an electrical issue with our Toyota. Stopped at the closest Toyota Dealership, Carlson Toyota. Waited 15 minutes to speak to a customer service representative. Was told that they could not look at it for days. No consideration for our predicament, not even a suggestion on where we could go. Fortunately, found and AWESOME Toyota Dealership down the road that took us in and fixed the issue in less than 10 minutes at no charge. Worst experience ever with Carlson Toyota Dealership.

I and my family have purchased several vehicles from them, they always work out a price that's as good, or better than the ones that advertise their prices. My mother-in-law bought a used car from them that had some scratches and seat stains.. They fixed it all and had it ready for delivery in a couple days.
SERVICE:
I recently brought my 2004 Tacoma in for service. I can't go into details, but they bent over backwards to make sure everything was done right, Then they went way beyond that... They made me a lifetime customer for sure.
Well kept place, no pushy sales person, all friendly people.

I bought a 2016 Toyota Highlander Limited from this dealership. The sticker for oil changed noted at 34001, got the vehicle at 28k. The master warning light came on just after a week of getting the vehicle. From the sale person, they just did an oil change, so I brought the vehicle back and they reset the light. Not soon after that the light came on at 31K. My wife brought it in and they was just going to reset the light, but the it stating maintenance required. Brought the car in today 5/2/2020 and the advisor Joshua Goar, only advised to do an oil change and told me it will come on every 5000 miles, like I knew that from the manual already. But I told him it came on before hands and its under warranty that they should look into... No answer, but just oil change. I have reported them to the Department of Public Safety - Driver Vehicle Services dealers unit. If anyone else is having the same situation as I can see from these review, email DVS dealers unit.
Scheduled maintenance. Service people were friendly and car was serviced professionally as scheduled. Very comfortable waiting area.
We had purchased a new 2009 Highlander from Carlson Toyota and when we were considering getting a 2016 we returned to check things out. We met Preston Buechler and he was extremely helpful. He was very personable and there was no pressure whatsoever. We had researched prices prior to our visit and were very comfortable with the Costco discount and the trade-in value for our existing vehicle. We were very pleased with the entire process.

I've been shopping for a new Toyota tundra for a couple months now mostly just doing research. I finally decided to pull the trigger. I don't have great credit so, I actually looked at two other dealerships and also Carlson. The one dealership sold the truck I was looking at, the second dealership denied me, and Carlson Toyota got it done !! Everyone I met their was very nice! My salesman, the accessories lady, finance guy, and I also met the GM.
This place is a joke, the managers are as incompetent as their employees. My wife took her car in for service and explained what is wrong with it. They could not recreate the issue in one hour, which we told them it only happens after 24 hours. It took me asking 4 times what they would do next for the service writer to say make another appointment to drop it off. The services writer hung up on me and yelled at her. She left crying. I contacted the GM, who apparently pawned the issue off on Scott the Service Manager and he offered no apology for the way his employee acted. They don t care about customers after they sell a car. STAY FAR AWAY! I wish I would have read the negative reviews before purchasing from them!
Thank you Carlson Toyota for a great experience! I leased my RAV4 there last month and I was impressed with how smooth everything went from beginning to end. Usually, buying or leasing a new car is a stressful experience for me but with Carlson Toyota, they made it pleasant and stress-free. After doing my homework and shopping around, I contacted Carlson and spoke with Preston Buechler from the sales department. I received a price that no other dealer in the Twin Cities was able to match by a long shot. Besides the price, every person I dealt with at the dealership, and in particular Preston, was very professional, courteous and seemed very proud to be part of this dealership. The dealership is a little far from where I live but it's well worth the extra drive for what I get in value. Thanks Carlson Toyota and thanks Preston!
My husband and I came in to test drive a RAV 4. We had already been in a couple of times looking at vehicles and knew which one we wanted to drive. Brian Kime was great to work with. I normally don't go with my husband to purchase vehicles because I detest the whole process. Not true with Brian. The only thing I would complain about, which in no way detracts from the service we received from Brian, is the fact that we were paying cash and would have loved to see some wiggle room to "haggle" a bit. Also, we figured by paying cash it would be a faster transaction, but still took about 2 hours to finalize the deal. We would definitely work with Brian again.

I've been sending cars for service at Carlson for twenty years. I never really thought about why until this review was suggested. Let me just share my experience.
I had a car in for service and asked for shuttle. Who would expect that a shuttle would be a highlight of the day? I certainly didn't, but I found the driver to be engaging and respectful. We chatting during the commute and I felt it was the typical joyful exchange I had come to expect.
Later, I got a call about the finding from the inspection. It was nothing more or less than I expected, and there was no pressure to do any work or service. The price quoted for each item was spot on. I picked up a car that was running great. So, the service was honest, not pressured, and effective.
That's why I come back: Quality Staff, complete repairs, and uninflated quotes.s

I went to Carlson Toyota on Coon Rapids today as I am in the market for a new car. I wanted to learn about and test drive a 2019 RAV4. I was the only shopper in the new car sales room at 10:30 in the morning. I spent about 10 minutes checking out the floor model and not one single salesperson approached me to even ask if I had any questions. As I was leaving one salesman stretched out at the front desk laughed and asked if he could get that car ready for me to drive home today. As I was going out the door he said to make sure and ask if I had any questions. I suspect I was not taken seriously because I did not have a man with me. Women stay away from this place, there are dealers out there that will treat you with respect!

I'm more shock when they making all kind of excuses not to correct what they did wrong.
Manager and adviser there twisted everything around by blaming and guessing that it might be this and that or that the damaged is not related?
Their greatest excuse is everything is not related so people have to pay again this time more costly.
Is that what Carlson call standing behind their workmanship?
Carlson only post nice reviews here and not bad reviews.
In addition, they want to do diagnose for what they did wrong and then wanting to charge all kind of diagnose fees. Ridiculous. That's how they cheat by saying your car problems are not related.
Will not go back.

Very helpful and informative, but they called me 3 times a day for a week trying to make me take a survey. Do not give them your number unless you want to be harassed.
I thought the tech did a great job. Took it in for an oil change at 5,000 miles and they changed the oil, rotated the tires, and a list of other things considered maintenance. The car came back clean and good to go another 5,000. I would recommend Carlson Toyota to anyone looking for a car.

Loved working with Sales Rep Mee Her when I bought my new Toyota RAV-4. He was personable, informed, and did not do the 'hard sales pitch'. So appreciated! There was definitely some sales pressure from his colleagues with accessory sales and extended warranty options, but I guess that's to be expected. Overall, it was a very good experience- much of it to the credit of Mee Her. I look forward to having my car serviced at this dealership in the coming years.

First time using Carlson Toyota. Our Sienna needed the recalled spare tire mount replaced. Turns out we didn t even have a spare underneath, can you say we didn t do our due diligence when buying it used ? Assistant Service Manager Josiah Hass had the shop put a spare on for free. WOW!
Also, the waiting area is like a spacious hotel lobby with a counter area so I could get work done while I waited.

We loved our experience at Carlson Toyota. Feliks was our salesman and did a great job in answering all our questions and was patient as we reviewed the options. We came down to two vehicles and he was great in demonstrating the features between the two vehicles. After we selected the vehicle, there wasn't a local car available in the color my wife really wanted. Feliks didn't tell us that . . . we only learned of it a couple days later when he advised they had the car and they had gone to South Dakota to get it. The actual transaction went very smoothly and Feliks was absolutely a pleasure to work with. Thank you!!!
Many mistakes made at parts and service, and they kept trying to shift blame into customers.
This dealership used to have some of the best employees, but once the owners wife came along almost everyone has either gotten fired or left. Seems like there s a reason the owners hire management to manage these departments... because they are clearly incapable. DONT BE FOOLED, this place is hell. Save yourself.
What a great experience we had yesterday at Carlson Toyota, everyone was so welcoming, we were there for a recall on my 11 Limited and took about 3 hours or so and we just hung out had a few cookies and talked Toyota with the fine folks at Carlson, highly recomnend checking them out if you haven't yet you will be impressed.

It s sad when you go into a place and everyone is gone. This used to be a place you could walk in and know people. It s sad when the owner states that their long term people have retired . Customers are smart quit patronizing them and maybe you will learn it s a people business not a car business. Looks like they are just getting ready to sell. Sad.
I bought a Toyota Rav4 XLE Hybrid at Carlson on 4/28/2018. A day before I requested a quote and got a call from Vladimir Mounkine to schedule a test drive. I asked him if he could pick me up because my old car was dead and it was also a reason why I needed to buy a new one. He drove a new Rav4 to pick me up so I could test drive the car. He was willing to go an extra mile to help a customer in need like me. He also help me to choose a right car to buy. We purchased a 2017 Toyota Camry from Carlson Toyota at the end of November. This was the first time we worked with Carlson Toyota, and did so because we used a Consumer Reports Car Buying Service that sent us there and we had a fabulous experience!! We worked with Wendell, he was great and exceeded all of our expectations! He was friendly, straightforward, knowledgeable, and VERY customer focused. When we picked up the car, he took the time to walk through how to use the controls, radio, Bluetooth, etc. It was such a better experience, then trying to figure it out while reading the manual. Additionally, he followed up to see how the new car was working out for us! Although there where closer Toyota dealers to us, it was definitely worth the extra drive! Thank you for making our car buying experience a very positive one!
This dealership is truly driving people away! New faces all around new management that doesn t know how to properly run a dealership. The turn around is unreal! The new GM and GSM aren t making this better from the looks of it and are going through people like there s no tomorrow. Carlson wake up! Or sell while you have a decent reputation. I recently purchased my first truck from Carlson Toyota and had a fantastic experience. I walked in the door not knowing what to expect or if anyone would a give a 24 year old dressed in a T-shirt the time of day to buy a $40,000 truck. I was met by Mee Her, yes his name is actually Mee. He walked me through the Tundra and was patient while letting me test drive both that and a Tacoma while thoroughly explaining all the features and differences in both. He was confident in initiating the purchasing paperwork where I was passed to Matt Gilbert, the Manager, who explained the buying process further and made it simple for me to get the price I was looking for. I did not have everything I needed for the trade-in and to drive off the lot but Carlson Toyota did everything they could to get me into my truck as soon as they were able. Thank you again for the great experience and I would definitely buy my next car or truck at Carlson Toyota.

My husband and I were referred to Carlson Toyota by a friend, Consumer Reports, and by Costco. We were looking for a Toyota Tacoma with an extended cab. Demian YaDeau contacted us and we indicated that we would be out on Saturday. He followed up Saturday morning and we told him that we were on our way. It was a busy Saturday at Carlson. We were met by Demian at the front desk and told him what we were looking for. We were invited to look around. We had a good idea what we were looking for and did not see it on the floor. Apparently the extended cab version is not as readably available as the crew cab. Demian took us to a computer to have us build the truck with the configuration we wanted. It would have taken several months to deliver a built truck. We asked to test drive one of the crew cabs just in case we might change our mind about it. Demian had us drive a crew cab and a Certified Pre-Owned Tacoma that did have the extended cab. It was 5 years old but only has 9000 miles on it. It was tricked out with more than we would have purchased new. We liked how it handled and confirmed that we did want the extended cab and not the crew cab. The only thing we added were running boards. Unfortunately they are not available for a month. The rest of the process went smoothly. We drove out at the end of the day with more than we had hoped. We re glad Demian presented us with this option. So far, we are happy with the truck.
I purchased my new Prius two weeks ago from Carlson Toyota. I was fortunate to work with Felicks Frayman, whom I found extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. It was one of the best, if not the best, car buying experience that I have had during my fifty years of driving. What impressed me the most was his willingness to sit down with me and demonstrate all of the features of my new Prius including syncing my cell phone with the Bluetooth in my new vehicle. He spent a good fifteen minutes after we had picked up the car, explaining and demonstrating all of the features and making sure that my wife and my questions were all answered.
I brought my Avalon to Carlson Toyota on 8/14/15 to have a complete detailing done. After picking it up I stopped to have a sandwich, I noticed the tar globs were still on my car. I brought it back and they worked on it and removed them. I also specifically requested that the inside of the windshield be cleaned because I have difficulty reaching the corners. As I was driving west going home, I realized that it had not been totally cleaned either. I am wondering because this was a Friday if they were just anxious for the weekend and did not do that great a job. I have always brought my 2008 Avalon back to Carlson for all oil changes and service work and have never had a complaint before.
