Was there for a conference. Rooms were very small but the hotel was nice.
Overall, had a pleasant stay here during a business trip and slept very well in the Superior Queen Room.
The location is great with many nearby cafes and restaurants serving good food. Was also pleased with how close it was to Boston Common (~15-minute walk) and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (~30-minute walk).
Some downsides, the hotel interior looks a little dated despite some of its modern fixtures. And the friendliness of the staff was only about adequate.
Front desk staff are particularly rude and spiteful. Rooms are dated and overpriced and smell of mildew.
Dodgy management also tried to charge an extra penalty fee for smoking cigarettes in the hotel room. Neither my wife or I smoke.
Really nice hotel, great location and really affordable in November!
We recently were married in Boston and reserved rooms for our guests at the Park Plaza. Everyone I spoke with while booking was very helpful, but our stay wasn't that great. We had a free room upgrade and while our room was huge, some of our guests were in very small rooms (the door hit the bed while opening!)
We reserved 20 spots for brunch the morning after the reception, and there were no tables reserved. We were seated away from the rest of our friends and my out of state family had to eat in the other dining room.
Finally, the parking situation was a fiasco. I had disabled family members waiting over two hours outside for their car; apparently the valet had lost keys. However, the hotel did cover all of our guests' parking costs.
Their bigger rooms are nice, but I'd probably stay at a different hotel next time.
The room was TINY. We paid a very high amount of money and later found out that the room is VERY VERY small. Not worth the money at all and feel there are better options out there. If you are looking for the hotel I suggest try find some where else, this is not a great option to stay either a short-term or a long-term. (We stayed for 8 days)
Three to four stars for BPP. It's a gorgeous early 20th century construction which means a real mix of room sizes. If they say cozy be warned your room may not even have a table, just the bed in the closet. Their larger rooms are great. The lobby bar has a good drink selection and attentive staff. Plus there is a Starbucks in the hotel.
The room was reasonably priced for Boston, but small. The TV had Google Chromecast which worked perfectly! Good place for staying in the heart of downtown.
Gorgeous rooms, fast room service, organized, friendly staff.Rooms available for functions( professional or private)
I did like the hotel on a whole, thought my room was small (I don't mind that, but some might), but there are some easy to fix things. Hotel was generally very hot, particularly in the meetings and ballroom area. They ran out of some food items in lobby bar area. But I liked the decor of the hotel and the staff was nice.
Updated hotel. Great service staff. Ideal location.
Fantastic service & friendly staff! They go above & beyond, for example after the marathon they all clap for each runner as you walk in the door. They also handed out free bags of ice!
Solid Hotel and bar scene is lovely, like a visit to a pub...on a good day.
Great experience, close to everything down town Boston.
Basic room, not great view, but it's clean, location is great, and the lounge/library in the lobby is wonderful! Few enough people used it that I felt safe lounging there with coffee and book. Bit of a gentleman's club vibe.
It was quite a beautiful hotel. The lobby is modern and very beautiful.
The hotel itself has a Starbucks and two restaurants attached to it. A very nice little lounge in the front for sitting or working and a small convenience shop if you forgot to pack something. The hotel is within walking distance of MANY shops, restaurants, and amenities. I took a short walk to Finagle A Bagel for breakfast each morning. The breakfast sandwiches were AMAZING.
We booked Standard Queen room, but I guess all they had left when we checked in were accessible rooms. Because of that, we had a king bed and more walk-way space to accommodate wheelchairs. I hear other rooms were very small. My room wasn't terribly small but I think the room for a wheelchair made it feel better than other suites. My view was awful, even though I was on the 14th floor. All I could see was the wall of the other rooms windows. Furniture was very modern and updated. A few cracks in the ceiling, showing it's age a little bit but you can see they tried to keep up with it.
The bathrooms in the accessible suites are large and the shower is completely open with a curtain which lets water drip, splash and pool out onto the bathroom floor, pooling in front of the sink. Bad design, messy and dangerous - tile floors and standing water. The bath mat they gave me ended up being soaked by the end of a shower and the floor was very wet making getting ready or brushing teeth kind of annoying in standing water. The sink doesn't have any counter top space and no other shelving in the bathroom to store or place toiletries/make up or get ready stuff. Thankfully there is a buffet type cabinet outside the bathroom that housed the in-room mini-fridge. I ended up putting my makeup on there and using the bathroom door mirror to get ready in the morning. The mirror in the bathroom, above the sink was very filmy and hazy from under the glass. My co-worker also had the same issue. It has gotten a build up of mold/mildew under the glass, between the reflective layer and glass. I couldn't really use the mirror at all and was grossed out at the BLACK mold/mildew build up in the corner and bottom of the mirror frame. (reported this to management) Thankfully there was another mirror on the bathroom door. My shower curtain had stains on it and leftover shaving cream splotch with the hairs in it. Pretty gross. Reported this to management via their text messaging system while at the conference and they replaced it by the time I returned for the evening. The shower head was terrible. No pressure. I couldn't even rinse face wash off my face under the shower - no joke. They need curved shower curtain bars in the showers that are in the accessible rooms to add a bit of elbow room. There wasn't any space in there and I felt the curtain constantly clinging to me while showering - EW! If a standing person didn't have enough space, I don't know how a handicapped/sitting person had enough room at all to shower.
The blackout/privacy shades on a motor control on the wall was very nice. Toiletries they provided smelled amazing. MORE than enough outlets for charging in convenient locations on the lamps and front of furniture. I hate having to move or unplug lamps and other things at older hotels to just get one outlet to charge my phone.
I ate at the in-house restaurant for breakfast on day one. It was EXPENSIVE and it was pretty mediocre food (eggs, toast, bacon, potatoes for $23.54 (excluding tip).
Lyft/Uber/taxi/transportation picked you up, right out front which was nice and the doorman was always helpful.
I don't know if my hallway/wing just wasn't occupied or what but I didn't hear another single person while in my room my entire stay. Not even walking around in the hallway or anything. That was truly impressive. All in all, a pretty nice hotel other than expensive, mediocre food and the bathroom issues I stated above.
Definitely a tourist trap hotel. Worth it if you can get a good deal, but expect to pay $12.50 per day per device for wifi. Will certainly look elsewhere in the future.
A huge hotel that overlooks three streets in Boston. It even has a Starbucks in one place, plus restaurants
This is a very nice hotel with easy access. Rooms are small but the hotel is gorgeous. Great staff and accommodating housekeeping. Would definitely stay again.
We were in town for a baseball game. We booked the room through cancelon. The hotel was very elegant. The room was approximately 9 x 15 . There was roughly 24 " of room to walk between the end of the bed and the wall with the tv.mounted on it. Bathroom.. to small to
describe shower tiles were pretended replacing for sure
Very nice hotel. They charge you for receiving internet packages.
Smaller rooms to be expected, friendly staff, good WIFI, very clean. Well decorated hotel with lots of activity. Valet $40 or Parking nearby $22 NO in and out. Extra tax on room after Priceline quote.
The hotel was clean and felt safe.
The check-in experience was slow, but it was busy. No one followed up to see if the room was ok.
My sink in the bathroom was broken and I reported it, but no one fixed it in my three night stay.
My room was small for the price.
The bed was firm but well used feeling.
I understand this is a historic hotel, but for the money, I would stay elsewhere.
We like staying here. Close to Newberry street and Biston Commons
Staff was there to direct us around through the ball rooms and the decor was amazing. Good bartenders and staff all around
Very nice hotel for the price, in love having Google cast in each room
Super recommended! Although our English with my partner is not the best they tried hard to understand us! The great rooms! We were recommended to change the room for a more comfortable one and it was the best option! Very close to everything! We would definitely return again!
Rooms were very nice, bit could here every noise from outside. Too loud.
The hotel staff is phenomenal. Please give them a welcoming hug for their hard work and long hours of service. The food in the lobby is also great.
Excellent in terms of location, clean and friendly with very good service and recently remodeled in terms of decoration, really small bathroom with few alternatives in terms of lighting. However the room is spacious and complete with good bed to rest
There was a misunderstanding and they over charged me on the parking. I went to the front desk and the lovely front desk person fixed the issue right away! Great service. Would like bigger rooms, but they are alright. It's also close to plenty of places to eat.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was extremely nice. The beds were comfortable and the location was awesome. Beware you are going to pay about $40 a night to park at the parking garage.
stayed here for vacation, excellent central location to all the tourist attractions and great bites to eat.
Room was nice, I like that they have Windows. The stairs are super confusing but otherwise the space is nice
It's okay for the price in Boston. Room size is rather small, but not bad for the entire hotel
Hotel was very nice and the service was great, however we had issues with the WiFi as well as our room heating that had to be remedied
Our stay was ok, the rooms were small, and the walls were paper thin. We stayed there 4 nights and there were multiple dogs barking each night waking us in the middle of the night. I was excited to stay because it was the Boston Park Plaza , but I had more space and more peace and quiet at the W just around the corner.
the room was smaller than expected but the hotel is in a good area (within 15 minutes of the park, many shops, and south station).
Pretty disappointing hotel, not the 5 stars I was expecting from this class.
Rooms very aged, with tired furnishings, tiny bathroom with chipped bath and sink. Small towels. No complimentary water.
Lobby bar staff dismissive and rude, couldn't even say hello or please. Served (if you call it that) by Simon, he couldn't have cared less.
Gym facilities at Lynx very good. Housekeeping staff very pleasant and polite.
Excellent location if you are a tourist in Boston. Close to hop on bus tour, Boston common and subway.
I have stayed in many hotels and have never had issues. That being said I have even had better hospitality in a Motel 8. This hotel is supposed to be a 4 star high quality hotel. That is wrong. The room I booked had detailed information such as the size of the room. I get to the hotel I check in, nothing is said to me I go on my way to my room. I get to my room and instantly feel I m in a hostil. The room is so small that the bathroom door if opened touched the wall on the other side. I call down and ask what style room I am in and when told I state this is not the room I ordered. The response given was I got a bigger bed. I had stated no I do not want this room I want the one I paid for. At the same exact time my boyfriend who also felt robbed was in the lobby asking for our room that we are not in what we reserved. We are told that we can either leave the hotel (no refund) or take the room we ordered but with two double beds not a queen. After arguing for some time we FINALLY get the room we RESERVED. This should HAVE NEVER been an issue. To me they put me in a smaller room to upgrade someone else and get more money. They were trying to rob us blind and act stupid. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN WORST SERVICE EVER FOR EVERY ASPECT A HOTEL CAN OFFER. They don t even deserve one star after all we experienced that I don t have enough room I could write down. I could honestly write a book on how bad this hotel is. I DO NOT SUGGEST STAYING HERE TO ANYONE.
The room we got is really small. But the lobby is beautiful and their cocktails are great. It is a well maintained hotel in the heart of the city. !
I went for a convention. was woken up in the middle of the night by hotel staff because of a noise complaint in my room. There was nobody in the room besides me sleeping. They refused to even apologize for waking me up.
A friend of mine also had his costume damaged when a security person said "Move!", and before giving him the chance to do so, pushed him to the side before continuing on.
I go to conventions frequently, and have stayed in around two dozen hotels for such events. Boston Park Plaza has by far been the worst hotel to work with, and had the least courteous staff. I sincerely hope ANE finds a half decent hotel for next year.
Boston Park Plaza is located right next to Boston commons and close to downtown. There's a lot of great restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpful in handling our luggage and recommending places to go
There was hammering, drilling and vacuuming at 7am. And at 10am a long beep that lasted about a minute. Not a pleasant morning after a long night.
The room was sooo tiny... I paid a lot for a closet.. no kidding.. I've stayed at a ton of Boston area hotels, and this, by far, was the smallest room I have ever paid for...
Restaurant and bar was OK...but super expensive
Beautiful hotel. Its close to so many good restaurants and the commons. Very helpful staff.
I was not there as a guest. I went to watch a ballroom dancing competition. When you first walk into the Park Plaza you're overwhelmed by how stunning of a Lobby and has. The venue itself was downstairs. it was a perfectly serviceable Dancefloor. I wish there had been a bit more air conditioning for the amount of people in the room. Other than that, the wait staff was incredibly attentive and professional. Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening.
Great location, well maintained hotel but really tiny rooms
Nice, clean, and quiet. Too little shelf/counter space in the bathroom. Vending prices are ridiculous ($3 for a Coke) which is made worse because the room lacks a fridge, even though there's a spot for it.
Clean, inexpensive for Boston, lots of extras. Close to Commons and great restaurants.
Nice hotel. Small rooms, but im not in my room much. Great location!
Went for the ESS academic conference. Workers were nice. Hotel was beautiful.
It's a well maintained, older (historic) hotel. Staff is great. Particularly Umar (Ulmar)? I hate potentially misspelling his name, he was so nice after I had a rough Lyft experience just before arriving.
The hotel is very classy. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Surprisingly a great experience.. way more than what we were expecting. This hotel is recently refurbished with contemprory finish from inside while maintaining the old architecture from outside.
I met a friend in the lobby. It was attractively decorated and staff were on hand to answer questions as needed.
Very nice hotel but small things took away from the experience. Shower heads were broken in the shower and there was hair in the tub as well.
Incredibly kind and helpful staff. Top notch accommodations and comfortable beds.
Stayed here on a business/pleasure trip, location is great, and it has some beautiful architecture on the inside. Room was clean, perhaps a little dated but that's kind of the point of a historic accommodation. The price i got was also pretty reasonable all things considered
Jacky at the front desk was amazing. He greeted us and took care of us. Even though there was a glitch in our stay and the hotel had an emergency alarm in the middle of the night, we would recommend it for its convwnient location and good service.
Classic downtown Boston hotel. Great area with high end shopping, bars and restaurants a short walk. Large rooms, excellent gym. Only complaint is very noisy
Gosh construction mess, tenants tell me I am confused because new ownerships disagree on OCCUPANCY PERMIT OBLIGATIONS to Public. I don't know the laws about insurance coverage and claims paid by insurance coverage to the public.
As a former Insurance Broker/Agent, would only insure lease hold as the property owners Insurance by including MY site visit report our risk underwriting of the first tenant policy I wrote.
Sometimes I would not offer any coverage because it looked to ME that cooking hood degreasing housekeeping was sloppy.
I was being paid to insure the property from fire.
Very central location in Boston. Hotel has been recently refurbished. Beautiful decor. The lobby is reminiscent of a boutique Vegas hotel.
