Horrible experience for me at Borgess. While I was hooked up to an IV, I wasn t being monitored and filled up with so much liquid it caused me to go into heart failure. They quickly transferred me to the heart floor, where your room feels more like a jail. The door has a little window at the top to look through. 1 shower area for all to share! Never again will I go there!!!! The doctor came in and told me they caused my heart failure! I recorded the Dr. telling me this!! Don t trust them with your life or someone you love!!

If I could give a negative number I would! Twice I have had surgery at this place and both times barley received the care I needed both times. I m not exaggerating even a little. The first time they let me sit in a hospital room that the sewer backed up into for over 10 hours before moving me. I even asked to just be put in the hallway because of the smell and they refused. I have pictures and video to prove it. The so called staff is lazy, incompetent and unpleasant. I will never come here again.

I am a "frequent flyer" within the Borgess System and I have to say that several things have changed in the negative direction since Ascension took over. Website is much less user friendly. Hard to find needed phone numbers, harder to obtain copies of my test results. The staff who see patients directly have generally been kind and professional and very willing to listen to my concerns and needs. I've had good care when I have been an inpatient, usually after surgery. Some reviewers have complained about having Residents see them. In my experience, student nurses and Physician Residents are usually curious and highly motivated and unless I am having something complicated done, I have no problem seeing them. I did discover that non-physician staff at outlying facilities are paid less for the same position than those at the facility in Kalamazoo. That seems crazy to me as the people in the smaller facilities usually need to be able to do a larger variety of things than those in the larger facility and certainly are no less professional or well trained. If I were one of them, I would be unionizing if a union isn't already in place and if there is one, I'd be pushing the union rep to address this issue. In brief, I have very positive impression of the staff who see patients and an impression that the Ascenion powers that be have a very un Christ like value system that prizes the bottom line ($$$$) way too much!

My problem with Ascension is the billing department. Being double billed I have called several times to get this resolved with no luck. I even sent a letter along with my receipt to show I paid. Tried setting up a meeting to go over this and no luck.

I'm from the Lansing area my mentally I'll child was sent here for evaluation. The staff was very nice and understanding of the situation. Way better than sparrow hospital in Lansing. If I didn't live an hour away I would come here for all my medical needs. Thank you Borgess and all staff members for being awesome!!!

I went in to the emergency room, and when I was seen by someone they didn t seem to know what they were doing, had me wash my own injury out in a sink (that was busted) with saline solution then after disappearing for 10 minutes, put a bandaid on it and said to come back if it got worse.

Well next day I have a huge infection so I return where I am promptly admitted and told I need surgery. I was told that I should have been admitted the first time (okay? You guys are the ones who didn t admit me) sure fine. I m told tomorrow, I get the surgery, great. I m told I ll be discharged

But then another doctor tells me I needed to be held until some cultures came back which would be ready the next day, but I have to stay 2 extra days because the doctor won t be here to look at them. So now I m irritated I have to be here longer just because someone has the day off.

Finally I get the all clear to leave after five days, I spoke with the doctor they said A-okay. I m waiting on my discharge, for probably over an hour so I finally ask and then I m told I m not being discharged until TOMORROW. When I tell this new doctor that the infections specialist doc (who s in charge of my care) Just told me I can leave he gets an attitude with me, so I tell them no I m leaving. Because apparently the doctor I spoke with HAD LEFT FOR THE DAY. Which then he tells me is a refusal of care. It s not a refusal of care if I was told I could go by the person in charge of my discharge, it is total incompetence on your part to not have the person in charge actually update my chart.

Then months later I get a bill telling me my insurance refused to pay due to a refusal of Care which isn t true because I called my insurance company and Borgess hadn t even submitted a claim to them. Then when I try to straighten this out 3 times, they try to charge 3 different insurances (despite being given the correct insurance info 3 separate times) finally my insurance company got so irritated by their stupidity they dealt with them directly and got it handled for us.

Overall the general theme of this hospital seemed to be a total lack of communication, understaffing, and just general cluelessness. The nurses I had were all amazing, two of three doctors I spoke with were very nice but the third had a total attitude when I was just a frustrated mom trying to get home to her family when I d been constantly told you should be going home today for 5 days straight.

To be honest I felt like I was there because they wanted money not for my well being. I felt like my treatment was mishandled and lazy.

Come to borgess if you need a place to die. They do not care at all about their patients! My best friend was discharged and basically pushed out of there after being admitted for three days they tell her she only had a uti. She could barely breathe or walk and they told her she was only treated for uti....a couple days later she went bronson and learns she has a severe heart infection and valves in her heart that are misfiring. Borgess did an ultra sound on her heart. ..they had to have known! And still wanted her to leave. Borgess is disgusting!!! Bronson is now treating her with care and respect! Also the entire time i was visiting not one time did borgess check her vitals even after knowing she has a pre existing heart condition! I couldnt be more disgusted!

My experience at Borgess for the most part was a good one. My Primary Care Physician sent me to the emergency room where I was taken care of right away. They kept me informed every step of the way and had excellent care. The problem I have with them is that when it came time to pay my bill, I agreed to an installment plan. I paid this plan off early and they still kept on taking money out of my account. It is now a year later and I still have not received the money they owe me. I have made several calls and have left messages for managers and no one ever calls me back. I would like my money back!

On 11-20-17 at approx. 5 pm my wife was called by someone in scheduling to schedule her for an appointment. They could not speak clear english. When my wife asked her to repeat herself she got snotty and said 'why can't you understand me, I speak clearly". CLEARLY she did not. phone people need to be able to talk in a clear tone so they can be understood. My wife hung up and called back and was on hold for 30 minutes before she hung up.

Was sent to Borgess ER with my husband from his urgent care doctor with a preliminary diagnosis of appendicitis. It was 7:30 in the evening and the urgent care facilities didn't have the proper equipment to test for appendicitis.
We checked in with the front desk and there were approximately 15 other patients in the waiting room. It was a Monday night. Immediately they took him back for triage and to draw his blood work then sent us back out to the waiting room. My husband had a fever and felt terrible and being that appendicitis is a serious condition, we anticipated we would be seen soon. Wrong. 12:30 am (5 hours later) I finally approach the girl at the front desk who had been rude to everyone prior to me checking on the status of their own cases. I was informed that "Bronson went on diversion and Borgess is doing everything they can to expedite everyone through. But because Bronson isn't seeing patients, they [Borgess] had to pick up the slack." I asked if they received the blood work results to see if a nurse could at least tell us if there was infection? "Nope." Anyhow, at 2:30 am (now 7 hours later) there is one other person in front of my husband to be seen. At this point people had either been seen or turned away at the door. (We even saw a guy come in complaining of chest pain and being short of breath told "it would be a couple hours before he could be seen!") The girl at the front desk then told me that they were too full and they had no where to move patients from the ER, therefore my husband would likely not be seen until at least 7am - almost 12 hours after we first arrived.
I was livid. My husband at this point could barely talk and was clearly in bad shape. She and I could visibly see that and STILL they would not accommodate him. When I said I was taking him to Bronson, she said "Bronson will be in worse shape. They've been on diversion all night." I told her I would gladly take the chance and would never step foot in Borgess ER again.
Went to Bronson - there were ZERO people in the waiting room. They got us right back and within 10 minutes my husband was back getting a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis of what was now a RUPTURED appendix. Icing on the cake? Bronson informed us they were never on diversion that night. Not once. We were lied to and treated rudely by the ER front desk staff at Borgess ER. We received much better care at Bronson and will go there for any of our healthcare needs.
I would like to think this is an isolated incident and that they were just having a bad night, but since I've told a few friends/family about our story, I have heard more of the same happening to others.
There are two major hospitals in our town competing for business. Borgess is not even making it a competition. The answer is clear, go to Bronson!

With my recent serious diagnosis, Borgess and it's nurses, docs, pcas, radiologists have been great! The Breast Care Center has the most gentle and compassionate nurses anywhere! The OSS surgery center is clean, efficient people and watchful recovery. The 7 the floor staffed with the best people , especially Patti PCA and Breanna RN and Lien, RN. Clean, quiet, responsive place to heal.

The Nurses and doctors in the CI8 Critical Care unit are amazing and filled with compassion!! My grandmother was in there unit about a month ago. They were always willing to answer any questions we had never got irritated when i called 5 times a day. They did everything they could to help my grandma unfortunately she didn't make it, it was her time to go but they did everything in there power to make sure she was comfortable and taken care of. If it wasn't for the CI8 team my grandma wouldn't have made it as long as she did. Thank you CI8 for everything from me and my whole family.

I had good care there in January. They loss a star because of the rude guy at the entrance with the clip board near patient check in. I asked for information and he gave me a snide remark.

My girl friend is in now, came to visit and she said the nurse called and had food on the way, is was at 6:15pm at 8:30 still no food and all they could say is they didn't know what happened to it. She is supposed to be on IV bag was empty they unhooked it and never brought another one for over 2 hours, This place is a joke. I advise anyone that needs to go to the hospital do not go to borgus

I have only had experiences with the birthing center at Borgess. Both times I have delivered there, the Borgess staff had been outstanding. The nurses, midwives, and doctors have been attentive, accommodating, and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend delivering a baby at Borgess Hospital!

While staying there they would substitute drugs that I take (allergy medications) that were prescribed by my doctors because they are the ones that work. They give you the cheaper alternative. They also want to give you meds at the wrong time (am instead of pm) even after you tell them several times. They have a new food menu plan that gives you no choices and is not appetising. Too many processed and canned foods. You can say no to the food and are not required to eat it but you won't get anything else. Whatever they wash their linens with I was allergic to. Next time I need to go to the hospital I'll go to Bronson even though my Doctor's work for Borgess. The management of the hospital makes it difficult to just get well.

I have had good & bad experiences with Borgess but mostly bad. Even with past bad experiences I have stuck with them due to being the easiest one in terms of location. I am transferring all of my services elsewhere from now on. This most recent visit was eye opening to how bad they really can be. I was admitted for surgery on my colon. The nurse had no idea I was even having surgery & said that I was there for possible appendicitis. The doctor ordered tests & fluids to prep me for surgery and make sure I was okay for it. I was extremely dehydrated. I was there 4 hours or more before surgery & the whole time I saw the nurse once and never received the tests or fluids that had been ordered. Get down to surgery and the surgeon realizes that none of the orders had been done. They take a pregnancy test and continue with the surgery. I was not given any blood tests until after the surgery. I was scared to continue without it but they insisted. This is totally not the first nightmare experience I ve had but the most recent. The surgeons were fantastic and a few nurses but other than that it was a very bad experience.

So many people complain about healthcare and Doctors in general. My experience here was nothing but positive. The amount of effort and care that goes into a procedure is mind-boggling. All of the staff and my surgeon, Dr Babel, were excellent.

I was recently involved in a motor vehicle motorcycle accident November 7 of this year. I was taken to Borges emergency with a broken ankle and broken left wrist. I wanted to let the emergency department know that I appreciate all they did and how they took care of me that day. I'm sure it is a difficult job that they don't get thanked for enough . I'm not quite sure who worked on me that day, but hopefully they will get this appreciation. Thank you and happy holidays

How on earth are you Accredited? I walked into your facility on a Saturday around 6 pm and absolutely NO ONE was available for assistance, directions or to provide a room number. I even shouted. ..is anyone here - in the cafe area. I have worked in various healthcare facilities throughout the U.S. and have NEVER encountered such lack of security or customer service. Shame on you! Guess it is time for me to contact your accreditation body.

If I could rate this hospital 0 I would the staff are very rude and obnoxious. My grandmother is staying with her husband because he has heart problems. And I keep hearing that the staff and the nurses are being rude to my grandma. They told her to walk to the lobby and sleep. She can barely walk and the nurses knew that but wont leave her alone about sleeping with my grandpa. And they classify this hospital a Christian hospital. That's really sad. I might know the owners are Christian's but the nurses are just obnoxious.

Went to this ER four times over the span of a few months. They didn't do all the necessary testing and told me the ER was for "sick people". Gave me anti anxiety medications instead of proper treatment. Staff is rude and most have poor bedside manor. Felt like I was losing my mind. I ended up having to have emergency open heart surgery in Grand Rapids. Don't bring loved ones here unless it's the absolute last option. Spectrum in GR is an excellent hospital with top notch professionals who care. If you can make it 45 minutes, please go there.

Very understaffed! At night this problem is even worse, ER is inadequate during the afternoon of all times. I am not confident in the hospitals ability to care for patients in a effective manor. I have had many visits here on behalf of elderly family members, I write this review to encourage better service and more trustworthy nurses to watch over patients and conduct there rounds as they should. Treat others the way you would like to be treated I will give credit to the respitory nurse who actually acknowledged there was a problem!

Had to spend 12 days here inpatient. It is very apparent that they are short staffed when it comes to nurses. The care I received from the PCA's was fantastic (especially Jordon, Cassie, and Cody). The nurses were great too (especially Wendy, Helen and Angie), but it was very apparent that they are short staffed. Dr. Campbell in the ER really needs to work on her bedside manner (is she even human?). Nurse DJ in the ER is fantastic! Food sucks, but what do you expect? It's hospital food. Loved nurse Yealin. Outpatient registration is very slow. With glass windows they appear not to be working, especially when they avoid making eye contact. Ted is great listening and taking down my concerns and praise of my treatment during my stay on the cardiac floor (4th floor). Hope my input helps.

So I was at borgess hospital and they had forced two shots into me by holding me down and also I had got put in a room for a day that has a small room with a tiny window and that was like a jail cell with no bathroom also I had to shower in a public shower where they let you and roommate shower there I was so mad there was people yelling and screaming all night I could hear them in my jail cell they feed you through a window also the door on room was a locked room I would consider Bronson for now on .

I had a colonoscopy and the anesthetic was done by Kyle Nelson. He injected the painfully burning med without a numbing agent. The pain was so bad I almost flew off the table! I am a nurse and have had 5 previous colonoscopy's at other hospitals and never experienced anything so painful! I will not be back!

This hospital should be shut down its so dirty its sick. Everywhere u look its filthy this shouldnt be legal. The restrooms smell like a truckstop. Been here four hours waiting in a room and still havent seen a doctor and the waiting room is empty. Have set to see an cleaning staff anywhere.

Surely have gone down hill. Was recently in Borgess for chest pain and stomach pain ( March 21-23). They kept me to do stress test. They couldn't seem to get my meds right. The 23rd, they said my test was fine and they where sending me home. Told me to follow up with my cardiologist the next week. On the 24th they called me at home and to tell me they found something on my stress test results. Come to find out they never had a cardiologist look at the results before they sent me home. They told me I should see me my cardiologist as soon as possible. I couldn't get an appointment with cardiologist till Wednesday, and was still having chest pains. So I went back in on the 25th. They kept me to do a heart catherization the next day. Again couldn't seem to get my meds right.
They did the procedure on the 26th, and told me that they had not found any thing of major concern. During either visit, they never addressed my complaints of stomach pain, even after telling them several times that it hurt. All diagnosis seemed to be focused on the chest pain. In fact, every time I mentioned it, my complaints seemed to be ignored. So I guess I'm left to find out what's wrong with my stomach pain on my own. They sent me home and told me to follow up with my cardiologist, and if I had any more chest pain to come back. They told me I could go back to work on the 29th. I ask for a work release more from the Doctor. They gave me a return to work note, it said " avoid strenuous activity for 2 weeks ". My work would not accept it, they wanted a definition of strenuous. I looked through my discharge papers and there was no information on after procedure Care or restrictions. So I called the hospital twice trying get to a list of restrictions for my work. I've spent almost 2 days waiting, they finally told me I had to ask my cardiologist. Even though it was a hospital doctor that gave me the release note. I now have to wait for my cardiologists assistant to call me back, ( and I know what she'll say, we can't give you that info without seeing you). I'm not very happy, I can not return to work with out it. I go to Borgess because Bronson in Battle Creek SUCKS !!!!!!!!. But over this last week, I'm beginning to wonder if the extra travel time is worth it. Over all I'm extremely disappointed with my last visit to Borgess, and at this point not sure if I'll ever go back to this hospital.

Service is horrible. I went into ER and was sent home to find out my blood count was way low and I should have been admitted. A week later I went back because my doctor actually admitted me and was in there for 5 days. They sent a physical therapist to my room twice to say I didn't need physical therapy and sent me a bill for almost $3,000 and part of that bill was physical therapy for almost $300. I refused to pay that and sent in a dispute form 6 months ago and still haven't received a refund for it. I prefer Bronson over Borgess any day and I know of people who have worked at Borgess and said they refer people me to Bronson. The food at Bronson is also top notch. Borgess Food is absolutely horrible and they have a very slim menu. I would actually go to Bronson to eat their food even if I wasn't in the hospital because it's so good and they have many healthy options.

Never again will I step foot or recommend Borges's to anyone. From the horrendous Drs visits a few years ago to the most recent experience in the ER. I was barley able to walk, heaped over with agonizing pain, with a ruptured tube from an ectopic pregnancy and was told my wait would be over two hours. I told them mg tube was ruptured, they let me WALK back to my car and drive away. I somehow made it Bronson and had emergency surgery.

So for the past 2 night I've had to be at Borgess ER, once for myself. I had a migraine, seeing double hard a hard time talking do to pain and waited in there waiting room for over 5 hrs before seeing anyone. Mean while migraine was so bad I was crying and they told me I was doing for drama. Now I called my Dr who told me to Borgess. Should have stayed home they where no help at all. Went in around 4pm got home 3am...WOW.

This hospital is a yes and no for me. We were referred over from the urgent care across the street, who suggested that my husbands pain was his apendix. ER was great and got us back right away, got him changed, and hooked him up. However it took 5 hours for them to tell us he had appendicitis and needed it removed promptly. We had to remind nurses where they left off, and that he had to get his testing done. One nurse would come in and say one thing, and then 30 minutes later another nurse would come in and say the complete opposite. Seemed as if no one talked to each other about my husband, or possibly any patient. Made me skeptical of allowing them to do the procedure on my husband when while we were waiting for them to tell us about his test result, all the nurses and cleaners were gathered around a phone, saying things like, "ugh. I cannot stand her. She's such a B****." Very unprofessional, and made me feel uneasy. The original ER doctor who was seeing him had gone home because of his end of shift (understandably!) But then the doctor who stepped in didn't have the slightest idea what my husband was there for. He even said to us, "well the bloodwork looked fine. But that lies all the time, so I'm not sure."
Lastly. When my husband finally got into surgery, after waiting for the Surgeon to come in because they couldn't find him for a half hour, we went to the waiting room. The night cleaner spent the whole time telling my mother in law and I about how all the Doctors and Nurses there are "just a bunch of rich white people" and that "everything is sketchy around here." Surgeon came back in, says my husband is on the way to the recovery room. Call there in 15 minutes so we can go see him.
15 minutes go by, I call. I'm greeted by a woman who when I give her my name and who I'm calling to see how he's doing/when we can visit/where we need to go, she rudely interrupted me by saying, "well are you even related?" I replied saying "I hope so, we kinda have the same last name because he's my husband." Hence why I gave her my full name to begin with.
I could keep going on and on. Super weird experience. Not enough to make me feel comfortable coming back. BUT my husband is healthy and home, so that's my biggest concern.

I saw Borgess on fake news, but everyone that lives in this town knows it's not fake. I am amung real people who will forever be damaged by the neglect of Borgess Hospital. I too would rather die then be forced to reduce myself to this treatment in this day. I am 30 years old. Absolutely helpless to get these metal fragments out of my body that Borgess put in, and ignored instead of removed.

Sitting in the ER with my spouse since 11 am, he broke his wrist this am. All this time (4 pm) nothing being done but an ice pack. Not acceptable. Will be going to Bronson for any future issues.

I had knee replacement surgery in the beginning of August. The care I received from the very beginning (going in for blood work) to being discharged 4 days later - everyone was welcoming and professional. I really appreciated the "Welcome to Borgess!" many times over. The RN who helped me prepare for surgery, the operation staff, the recovery staff - all were so nice to me. The RN on my floor (4th) was so compassionate and figured out which meds worked best for me. The care staff responded quickly to my requests - I never had to wait long for someone to come. I was so blessed. Thank you all for giving great care!

My Dad is dying and these people have him-hawed and danced around it to the point that he doesn't believe he is. They have been transferring him back and forth from hosp to rehab and back. They have given him several blood transfusions even though they admit this is futile and temporary. I am sickened by this behavior. Not only don't they have the decency to tell him straight out but they are giving him false hope over and over. This has been going on for 6 weeks now.

I was just referred by the Portage Urgent care to have tests done for a possible embolism. The girl at the counter appeared very rude. Did not even make eye contact. I felt like I was interrupting her day with my issue. It's embarrassing enough to stand in front of everyone in the place and explain what I have for issues and feel like you are bothering someone. I guess my problem isn't that bad. I apologized and left without checking in.

I would recommend no one to go there! It has really gone down hill since I was there 2 years ago.
Supposedly close to having a heart attack and never seen a cardiologist. Seen the hospitalist whom I couldn t understand a few minutes a day. Couldn t get a shower, wash cloth toothbrush or toothpaste, nothing! Never even got my bed straightened up.
Less than 5 minutes before I left was told only by R N I had appt mt with a surgeon? for what I said?
My husband had 2 open heart surgeries there, numerous stents, myself 1 stent, hospitalized different times and I couldn t believe how bad it is now, I ll never go back!

After 2.5 hours of waiting in the ER for a toothache and watching the spiders crawl around the waiting area. I get brought back to the ward area. I counted over twelve staff at the nurses station that looked totally unstressed with the night. I mentioned this to the nurse and she tells me that all the emergencies have priority. The desk nurse told me over two hours ago that the wait was for cleaning. There was 1 emt that left when I got here.

EVERY BED WAS TIDY AND CLEAN IN THE ER. I DID NOT SEE A PATIENT AFTER THE WAITING ROOM.
I feel like to much credit is given for bottom tier care in America.

Update. 15 minutes of laughter from the nurses station and no patient traffic to be found. It feels bad when people lie to you and insult your intelligence like this.

My 14 year old son is new to epilepsy and he came to this hospital for treatment i can honestly say that this place was the worst hospital visit ever they wanted to beat my son more than help him he three huge men ready to attack him if he did one thing they didn't like we were uncomfortable i felt like we were being judged the bathrooms are disgusting and all your emergency room staff does is laugh and use profanity i wish i could give this place no stars

This is the worst hospital ever I live less than a mile away and I'd never go there again even if I was dying. Their bedside manner is atrocious the floor where you stay once you have your child looks like a scary movie and the nurses act like the leads in a scary movie. I didn't want to have my child there in the first place they tricked me by saying I could have prenatal treatment there but have my baby wherever I liked...lies...they just wanted the money, and then when I asked them to transfer my paperwork to the GOOD hospital they told me I could take my file and leave. Hate is a strong word but I hate this place it should close.

If I could not give a star for the treatment I received from them, I would...Very lucky to even get one from me after the way I was treated...I came in with severe chest pain and shortness of breath...had eeg done, blood work and then had to sit in waiting room until room was ready...Then was called to go have xrays done and had to WALK from waiting room to xray...was not put in wheelchair...YOU do not do that with someone who is having chest pain and shortness of breath...I walked out of there after sitting in waiting room for over 3 hours and went to Bronson where it was found that I had a blood clot in lung and stayed for 3 days...I only live 5 mins from Borgess, but I will take the little extra time to drive to Bronson from now on

Topnotch care. I would rate Borgess Hospital with (A)grade. One small suggestion. More communication with loved ones and family members during surgical procedures. Possibly Communicating via text messages Updates during procedures , post op etc..

The insurance I have is a dual complete plan they knowing i have no co pay and are still trying to collect. The collections department said they do not care about the agreement with the insurance company and are still trying to collect. At this point the bill is fraudulent and I will be folding a complaint with the appropriate agencies.

They treated my grandma with stage 4 cancer very poorly. They were abusive not only verbally, but also physically. Her hand was tied to a bed so tightly that her hand was swollen and 3 times the size than usual. Some people don't call this place a slaughterhouse for no reason. I'm going to a different company for care now.

Had my mom in the emergency room because she couldn't breathe. The attending physician was absolutely horrible. Very rude. I record my mother's doctors so I can pass the information on to my family. The doctor said it was inappropriate to do that. Sat there for hours nobody even checked on my mother. I had to unhook and hook everything back up on her just so she could go to the bathroom. But the doctor was the worst I have ever had to deal with!!!!

In my experience this is a good Hospital. The ER is really fast and friendly and they don't waste time. The Maternity Ward is also really excellent they treat mothers with dignity kindness compassion and respect. Had another friends and who was having complications from pneumonia and he was also treated very nicely. From what I have seen and experienced myself I think this is a top-notch hospital.

For everyone writing/reading reviews on our spectaular 1st world medical centers I urge you to imagine what these places will be like once we are forced into socialied "free" healthcare for all. Hospitals will become nothing more than death centers, where panels of strangers will decide who lives and who dies.

Unfortunately I have witnessed close at hand the downhill slide of the level of care the nurses are able to provide, Ascension acquiring what used to be a 4 star hospital has made poorly calculated moves, not based on "excellent patient care" but what appears to be profit driven at the expense of wellness. Advocacy is needed for your loved ones, RN's need time to do their jobs well, not be so spread thin that morale trickles down to the ill that wish they were well enough to go home And yet long for better care to get them there.

Worst ER experience ever! Heart failure patient with extreme abdominal pain was treated so poorly by male RN that I recommend he get a new job. Borgess is clearly out for dollars and not sense! Never at any time was there any check of my heart to see if the pain was heart related. I had urinary retention and no bowel sounds. I was asked to return after a quick discharge with papers left on a laundry cart while I was in the bathroom. Nothing explained or signed. Just a quick, if the pain gets worse return and we will get you right back. I no sooner headed home in the car and the pain became unbearable. I returned and was made to sit in a wheelchair in the waiting room for 5 hours. When I asked why I couldn't be taken back, the staff was rude. My wife explained that I couldn't sit any longer because I had been so ill and was still refused treatment. Literally, I was at Borgess from 8:30am - 11:30pm and did not have problem resolved. I went to Bronson Methodist Hospital and learned that I was having heart issues.
I was born at Borgess and they always had my business, but not any more. Worst service ever from ER.

My experience since my being admitted 10 days has been the best I could have ever expected, from the minute I was put in ER till I was released! All staff, nurses, doctors, aids , house cleaning were always on top and any questions I had got an answer. The team synchronized with the West Mi Cancer Center to determine what was reacting with me through my treatments and brought the situation under control as fast as possible. Due to their professional I am heading home expecting to have a full recovery!! Great job everyone! With best regards, Rick Harmsen. 11-7-19

I consider myself very lucky to have Dr. Ybema, a fantastic neurologist at Borgess help manage my strange neuro disease. I'm also very fortunate to have Borgess able to administer and manage my infusions to treat this strange affliction. I no longer have to drive 2 hours to U of M in Ann Arbor, spend 5 hours getting drugs pumped into me and then drive two hours back.
We should all be grateful that we have two hospitals in our community, considering that millions of people across the world don't have access to even basic health care. EVERY hospital has its pros and cons. I'm grateful for what this hospital has done for me and my family.

I should of never been put to a room with a person that has Intestinal problem, I have a heart issue , and have a pacemaker surgery, was supposed to have a private room , every time I try to sleep she would wake me by hitting the bed to wake me, would leave television on all night and day, would drop phone call the nurse , at least 2/or more times a day would have someone come in to clean her bed, the smell was terrible, I will never recommend ,
This hospital, the nurses Were great, very Concerned about my well-being I refused To stay any longer, finally they found me another room, after midnight, I feel that this hospital should take care of the patients, that has serious problems that need urgent care , like heart problems, All they want is to make sure they get paid and not about the patients

My husband and I were involved in a high speed motor vehicle accident, and were brought in to Borgess via ambulance as trauma level one patients. They were very kind, reassuring, and gentle with our broken up bodies. They explained everything they were doing, even though there was a lot going on. The staff kept my husband and I updated on each other's conditions every few minutes, and let us see each other once we were stabilized, and ready to be admitted for overnight observation.

Once in observation, the nurses and support staff were amazing. Thank you so much, Stanley, Katy, Tae, and so many others, for making one of the worst nights of my life bearable. Not only was their nursing care absolutely on point, they listened to me, dressed and helped to clean wounds. They really cared about my personal well being, as well as physical well being. Honestly, so did the trauma docs that came by to check on me. There wasn't a single person that was rude or unpleasant, and even though they were busy, they took a little time with me to listen.

The staff at Borgess helped my husband and I on one of the darkest nights, literally and figuratively, of our lives. Sorry, but ER's aren't built for toothaches, they're built for trauma, and this ER worked like a well-oiled machine.

The staff at Borges were very friendly, and eager to give top-notch care unlike any I've ever gotten at another hospital. They seemed to intuitively know exactly the type of care I needed!

Borgess asked me to pay my deductible in advance. I did so and it was too much. This was August 8th. It is now November 19th and I still don't have my $244 refund and they're finding every excuse under the sun to NOT give me my money back. This company is horrible!!!!!! WWMT Channel 3 - are you listening??

Worst hospital my dad could have been sent to. This hospital is so money hungry. We have been trying to get my dad transferred to a different hospital for a week they keep giving us the run around. We made sure through Medicaid and the other hospital that everything would be covered and borgess keeps telling us that they need money to transfer him. I highly recommend if you have to go to this place... DONT.

After a violation of my HIPPA rights, I will no longer seek care from Borgess, nor would I recommend anyone to go there. Since my visit to the ER, I've filed a complaint to the CEO, Kathy Young, and Patient Representative, Mike Lennon, and have yet to receive any response. Staff there is careless, have no compassion for patients, and needs further basic training. Confidentially is something I never get back! WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!

On 4/9/20 I received a phone call as a substitute for an in person FOLLOW UP visit. Of course, this was because of COVID, and the only option presented to me since no 'in person' appointments were being provided. The call lasted 3 minutes. The NP asked if I had any concerns or questions, and asked how I was progressing after an in-person visit on 2/27/20 when PT was prescribed- again, a THREE MINUTE PHONE CALL. I just today, 7/20/20, rec'd a BILL for $220 dollars for that phone 3 minute phone call, which my insurer has determined they will NOT COVER, I can only presume because they too think that $220 for a phone call is outrageous. I also have no idea if in fact my insurer would have paid for a telemedicine visit. I get NO satisfaction from Borgess when I ask for clarity, except to be turfed to some other organization that "manages billing". I find this absolutely appalling, and I have to wonder if charging this amount for follow-up isn't price gouging. Who at BORGESS is actually making these kinds of decisions? This is outrageous and I will be contacting the state's Attorney General.

My son got into a motorcycle accident and we re from out of town, and during this COVID-19 pandemic all the Dr, Nurses and hospital staff treated my son so great and us as his parents from out of state they were so nice and helpful everytime I called for an update or to see if I could see my son. These people deserve all the respect. Thank you everyone at Ascension Borgess Hospital for all you sacrifice everyday.

Warning. Dr. White, a floor doctor on the 4th floor I feel risks patient safety. He visited my room at least four times, and each time mixing up or having the wrong information about my medical reason for being in the hospital. When discharged he never called in the referrals for follow up with a specialist.

If I could rate it a half star I would. I have Chairi Malformation and suffer many symptoms still even though I had brain surgery. When I go to the hospital for my migraines and headaches it's because I feel like I am about to die from the pressure. So I go in around 6 am and I got sent on a wild goose chase to find the emergency room, then 6 so called nurses and doctors had to hear what was wrong before they would give me my intake paperwork. While I was filling it out they didn't understand why I was there. they take me back to the room I begin to vomit profusely and want to lay on my side. The nurse told me that's not allowed. Before I could agree to take medication they were already putting it in my IV. I was allergic to the medication they gave me then got told I needed to have a ride home because I was there alone. I laid in the bed for all of 10 minutes before they sent me drugged up back to my dorm alone.

I recently was a patient for the second time in two years. I could not have asked for better care. The professionalism and efficiency of the staff, from intake personnel, to nurses and aides, to doctors was simply outstanding. Thank you!

Unfortunately I do not plan on visiting this hospital again. I have several incidents but will share only one. Being diabetic sugar taken in am and result was 225, nurse stated oh we don't care unless it is over 400. She said eat breakfast and they would take it again. No, I did not eat a muffin or drink orange juice and they never did take it again. Events went on and did manage to get out of there alive.

I have tried to get information from "Patient financial Services", either they are incompetent or very rude, I have gotten nowhere. I spoke to a supervisor in the department and filed a complaint stating that I am being forwarded to a phone line that says it is out of service, when I ask for information concerning financial services, It has happened 5 times in two days; this is after speaking with a financial services representative. What is going on?

I was there July 8 2017. I have a broken ankle and2 breaks in my foot I was discharged with a prescription they knew I couldn't get until Monday because all medical supply stores are closed on Sunday. So I am expected to not be able to get to the restroom or anything because I can't walk or use crutches due to my shoulder and ankle.

By far the worst hospital experience I have gone through. Aside from the ER nurse who was excellent the rest of the staff was rude and incompetent. If you have the choice go to Bronson, you will be much happier.

I would never take another family member here. My father was 96 yrs old, and fell at a picnic. Took him to Borgess to get checked. Took x-rays and all was fine but they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. Next morning we came in and he was near totally opposite. He fell overnight while there and now broke his hip. He spiraled down from there and died three months after. I blame them for his death. Do not go there unless you want to die.
