On 4/9/20 I received a phone call as a substitute for an in person FOLLOW UP visit. Of course, this was because of COVID, and the only option presented to me since no 'in person' appointments were being provided. The call lasted 3 minutes. The NP asked if I had any concerns or questions, and asked how I was progressing after an in-person visit on 2/27/20 when PT was prescribed- again, a THREE MINUTE PHONE CALL. I just today, 7/20/20, rec'd a BILL for $220 dollars for that phone 3 minute phone call, which my insurer has determined they will NOT COVER, I can only presume because they too think that $220 for a phone call is outrageous. I also have no idea if in fact my insurer would have paid for a telemedicine visit. I get NO satisfaction from Borgess when I ask for clarity, except to be turfed to some other organization that "manages billing". I find this absolutely appalling, and I have to wonder if charging this amount for follow-up isn't price gouging. Who at BORGESS is actually making these kinds of decisions? This is outrageous and I will be contacting the state's Attorney General.
