I wasn't very impressed with this hotel. It's gorgeous on the outside but very old and worn down on the inside. The staff wasn't very attentive, the amenities were poor and the experience was definitely lackluster.

Hotel was nice in one of the best localities. Like other european countries rooms are comparatively small.. For two you can opt for family room. It's decent in size. Bar and cafe area is also fine. I would rate this 3.5out of 5 it's not 4 star property. Easy accessible to metroline. Though little off from the center hussle Bussle.

When we were checking in the credit card terminals were out of order so it took ages. The room was very small for a double and the decor was dated. The shower enclosure was so small if you dropped anything you could not bend over to pick it up. We could only find one set of towels in the morning and when I inquired checking out I was told the second set was in a drawer under the TV. Who puts the second set of towels in a press under the TV in the bedroom?. The final insult was the 12 charge for the hotel car park for one night which by the way is a special guest rate wasnt I lucky!!!

We were in Dublin for a wedding, and ended up having a marvelous stay. It didn't start as well: we had booked an executive double and were initially put in room 259 at the end of the hall on the right. In no way is it comparable to the other same-category rooms on the hall. It is half the size, at best, and sits over the entry to the car park. We happened to see several other rooms as we walked down the hall, and were able to change -- but as we were there for 5 nights, it would have been kinder to be put in a proper room initially, as we learned there were at least 3 clean and ready when we checked in.

Once that was sorted, all went well. The new room was spacious and comfortable, cleaning staff were efficient and friendly, and we were entirely satisfied with the rest of the stay.

Just having our breakfast now, which is superb. Staff are very attentive - in particular Eli and Florin. Yesterday had a lovely dinner in the main restaurant, well-looked after again by Florin, who couldn't do enough for us. Room is nice and spacious, beds comfortable. I can see that the general manager have hired the right people in the right places and runs his property well.

Stay was good. Rooms were clean, breakfast only fair hot foods were lukewarm. I left clothing by accident in the bathroom when we checked out on Fri morning. Since then I have called numerous times and constantly been redirected to an extension that nobody answered. Just tried calling again, Mary Rose answered, as soon as I mentioned my query she hung up!, Called back several times and no answer, strange for reception at a busy hotel !!!!

I stayed here many times. A good hotel in the Dublin city. Good restaurant and we'll connected.
Only one negative is the limited parking and need to pay for it, even if you are staying in the hotel.
Also it's so busy at front desk and take too long for check-in,check-out and other enquiries.
I will definitely suggest this hotel for stay.

Three of us stayed one night as we were going to a concert in 3 Arena. Hotel was lovely, staff very nice.
We came back to the bar for a drink after the concert and it was nice and relaxing. Breakfast the following morning was very good with a great variety, staff again were very nice. Overall it was a very relaxing,
pleasant short break in a comfortable & relaxing hotel.

As I say, checkin needs to be welcoming and more friendly. The room was perfectly presented in every respect.
Breakfast was ok, bar staff were good.

My big problem was, after been up at a party in Thomas Prior House and celebrating an Awards Night until the early hours, I has unable to have a sleep on the following morning. The noise and banging was unreal from building work very close to my room. I think rooms should have been assigned away from construction site.

Firstly, the staff during all our interactions were efficient and friendly which is a major plus for any enterprise. However the quality of the accommodation was not up to what I consider four star standard. The booking was for two double beds, my room had a twin and double. Just two plugs located at the dressing table area so media devices had to be used in that one area. Had difficulty with the TV but got there eventually. No fridge, and no bottled water a very basic requirement. The bathroom had a minimum of three towels one of which was a hand towel. Shower in the bath, hard on anyone in their sixties or over. My son used the shower but no hot water. The location was good for our purposes. Overall I didn't consider it good value.

Very poor. Over-priced. Small room, tiny shower not big enough to use. Poor service in restaurant. Average food, also over-priced. Room stank in the morning due to being above the extract from the kitchens. Smelt of stewed cabbage. Cleaner walked in with barely a know when we were trying to relax. Reception are friendly but the rest needs tralimprovementr. They seem to think that a bit of investment is a that they need to make it a place to stay.

Ok, I am absolutely heartbroken that we could not make it to beautiful Ireland at this hotel due to the covid-19 outbreak. However, you are getting 5 stars because you were the only hotel to refund my money back. Honestly, its just good business. If I ever get the opportunity to travel to Europe again I will specifically search out the clayton hotel, book and not hesitate to mention the clayton hotel and its business practices to anyone who is traveling to Europe. Thank you for not making me go through hell to get my money back. If anyone would like to know the names of the hotels that didn't refund me ( premier inn London, styles ibis paris, days Waterloo hotel London) and there you go. Be careful who you book with, because its a $3000. Lesson that I'm not going to repeat. Thanks

We got a free upgrade nice clean room on 2nd floor.(Thank you Amelia) Breakfast was fine it was the evening meal that was a bit of a let down Xmas evening only bar meals available . Then St Stephens day a buffet afterwards I was informed I could have had ice cream, which I would have chose as on the 24th I got hazel nut ice cream instead of the whisky flavoured.
All staff were brilliant also hotel was warm

Pretty nice place. A little bit removed from the center of town--which can be good or bad, depending on your preferences. You can get into the city pretty easily via the bus stop directly in front of the hotel.

No temperature control in the rooms--you can only turn the radiator on/off. It got pretty hot in our room, even with the radiator off and the windows open.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful historic building in the center of Dublin
Very clean spacious rooms and bathrooms spotlessly clean
One of the best Maldrons I've seen
The chotel restaurant may not be like a 5 * hotel, but it does not differ in its freshness and variety
For this class of hotel in the city center
Really Cheap
I definitely recommend this Hotel

My allocated room turned out to be below ground level at kitchen and car park level . It was dark and claustrophobic and a hike with bags. Having prepaid parking , receptionist was not clear as to how once parked I could go out and return with ticket issued on entry. Told on check in no need to use lift as room on same level, wrong , lift down to dungeon. When went to check out breakfast menus next am no menus on display or pricing. Waitress allocating table wanted to charge upfront for breakfast with no info on offer. When asked response was , it s the way we do it . Tv not tuned properly.

Bad experience, fire alarm in the middle of the night because of a disrespectful smoker ...... at the price of the rooms for such a short night we would have appreciated a minimum return from the staff of the hotel.

On arrival the lift was out of action. I found two tablets on the carpet in my room along with other rubbish. Went down for dinner and the service was so slow one of my collegues did not get dessert even though we asked for it three times. We were heading to a show so we were on a time schedule, trying to pay our drink bill was an ordeal. No apology for delay. Breakfast ...what can I say..well first of all there was a massive queue but this did not bother some people as they just entered in another way. Asked for cutlery and told ask someone else. Checking out we had an extra 55 on the bill ..trying to explain to the receptionist that we had a package deal which included dinner and then to top it off we were charged 12 to exit the carpark while another guest beside us was not charged. So no will not recommend this hotel to friends.

I can't fault the room, it has all you need and the bed was very comfortable. Pleasant and friendly staff. What stopped me giving 5 stars is the food! Firstly people do like to order room service for breakfast, that's fine if you want a continental breakfast, we had ordered and paid for in advance 2 full Irish breakfasts only to be told an hour later to ring reception the next morning to confirm.Thought this was strange, it turned out when I rang to confirm I was told it was hotel policy not to include hot breakfasts for room service. First time ever experiencing this. Had breakfast in the restaurant and it's the worst I've had, scrambled egg must have been poured into a tray and left to set, no texture and no taste, it resembled yellow jelly. Sausages were poor quality and overall a total let down on the experience.

Disappointed that you did not have a marathon menu on on Saturday night. I.e pasta dishes. Only for your manager in the bar that evening who I ask about the possibility of getting a pasta dish and even though he was run of his feet he still went to check if it could be done and to my delight it was provided and it was good. I know that this was all provided last year as I stayed here also so only for your manager it would have been a disappointment. Unfortunately other fellow runners didn't enquire about the pasta dishes so just ordered of the menu. They weren't to happy. Also in the early morning breakfast for the runners I had to ask about porridge. Again all provided last year. This aside it was still nice.

Beautiful building in a lovely part of Dublin very handy for the RDS as well as other parts of the city, rooms are spacious very comfortable and spotlessly clean.Breakfast was very varied with lots of choice both hot and cold. The staff are what makes a hotel and every member of staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming.I would have liked the bed to be a bit bigger but quality of pillows and bed linen was excellent .

Oh my gosh this hotel is a mess.

Oh my gosh this hotel is a mess.

When waiting for my turn in the reception, I checked room costs for same day I had booked for 319 , and now it only cost 179 . Told them that I'd like to have it at the going rate and after few minutes in the back room, they said there are no rooms available with that price?! I then went through the online booking system until I could've paid the room and showed them my cell phone. Again to back room and after a while they said they can lower the price to 179 PLUS breakfast (so suddenly there were rooms available). I then showed my phone again that the 179 does include the breakfast as well. Finally they agreed to use the correct price for the room, and I ended up getting the exact same room type I originally booked.

Also had to authorize my card twice, first when arriving before room was ready and then again when fetching the key after room was ready as they had lost the original checkin papers.

When arriving at the room, there was wet towel laying outside beside our door.

View from the family DELUXE room was 3 meters to a brick wall. Room was UNDERGROUND on floor 0. Room itself was clean and comfortable.

Over night it was hot as h*ll as there is no A/C and the windows cannot even be opened more than few centimeters.

This was a family room, yet there were only 2 drinking glasses and 2 towels (found one extra towel from the "extra towels" drawer.

Last surprise was the breakfast during which the A/C device on top of few tables (ours included) first started to drop water around and on top of us. Before we even realized there came chunks of snow pouring down on our table and the table next to us. But I already had given 1 star for our visit so this was just a little bit of excitement to otherwise serene hotel breakfast.

Staff was friendly and polite and I feel like they're doing their best to cover up the poor management or lack of processes.

Overall we are very satisfied, staff was friendly and helpful, room and bed were fine
only 2 little minuses:
- we had a room at the entrance on the streetside ( very noisy, we suspect due to weddingparty) i would suggest in future to give such rooms to those attending the wedding
- breakfast was very good, except no selection of ham, cheeses ( only some brie available)
