We stayed for one night on a "couples escape". Main intent was to relax with some food and drinks.

The hotel was clean and well maintained for the most part except for some cracks showing:
- loose fittings on some walls including power outlets in main bar (could be an issue with young children?)
- bathroom in main restaurant showed some disgusting signs of use!

Although relativity minor in comparison to other 4 star hotels we have stayed with and the cleanliness should be commended. Perhaps increase frequency of inspections in public area bathrooms.

Disappointed that 'breakfast in bed' did not include a hot meal option as it is one of the main treats we look forward to when visiting hotels. Was slightly taken aback when the reception staff said that this option was reserved for VIPs and celebrities only!

In general, staff were friendly but lacked that "attentive"/"make your stay special" attitude which can set apart a stay and I would expect from a 4 star rated hotel. Service in the main bar was difficult to receive with long waiting periods or non-existant, while I had to request coffee 4 times during the breakfast service before I received my order.

The above mentioned issues could be overlooked if the quality of food was better. We had both lunch and dinner in the main bar and attended the breakfast service the next morning. All meals were very sub-par with what could only be described as bland at best and borderline edible in places (breakfast service scrambled eggs):

- Lunch consisted of some sandwiches and a side order of fries. Sandwiches where extremely oily while the fries were indiscernible from certain fast food establishments
- Dinner consisted of chicken wings to start and burgers for main. Wings were bland and served at the same time as our main. The burgers consisted of a bun, burger, cheese and some bacon. No garnish or side salad. I order chunky chips in place of skinny fires and these where very obviously frozen and potentially re-heated (stale texture and taste). We did not finish any of our dinner plates.

If the food was to improve, we would consider staying again, perhaps we should have tried the main restaurant however, the lunch service combined with a very empty restaurant did not bolster our confidence in the extra expense of the restaurant.

We booked a week because my wife was to receive surgery in St Vincent's. She stayed before and after surgery hence the attentiveness and kindness of staff was much appreciated. Her condition meant that diet and cleanliness were important. We cannot say how much we valued the time spent at the hotel. We intend returning in 3-4 weeks time when she will be strong again to enjoy a short holiday. The location seems superb for that and we now we would enjoy it very much.
My only criticism is the lack of twin beds. We had to book a room with two double beds and next time intend trying an Executive Room with a King bed but this is a handicap for us. This explains the 4-stars given for comfort of bed, although the double beds were really perfectly comfortable.

The interior of the room is slightly older, but the price is good, the service is good, the dining is good! The grilled steak in the restaurant is good, the fish and chips are quite pleasant surprises. It s awesome to choose here at the horse racing festival.

Had a great stay at the hotel, 2 nights over the Easter Weekend with family. There wasn't very much, if anything I could fault about our stay. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful when needed. They also made time to interact with the kids and have a laugh, which was great. The hotel/rooms were very clean and we'll maintained. Food (breakfast only for us) was ok but the menu was very varied so something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Great location and very visually appealing building. Staff were great and very friendly. The rooms were above average but needed a revamp. As it happened they are currently doing the revamp of the hotel. Good points:staff, location, price and the breakfast was very good with a wide selection. Bad points: the revamp work started with hammering above our room at 8:00 am, the car park is nuts to park in and you have to pay to park there. Finally the pillows were like sleeping on rocks so the whole family had issues sleeping. I'd stop here again after the revamp just for the staff and the breakfast.

From Check-in to check-out, my wife and I enjoyed the beautiful Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge. The front desk staff is so welcoming and helpful, and we were so pleased to be able to check-in early upon our arrival following our flight from Chicago. The restaurant staff are pleasant and the food was delicious. We found the location to be convenient for our sightseeing around Dublin with the Hop-on, Hop off bus stop right at the hotel. We highly recommend your classic hotel to travelers who want a relaxing and delightful hotel experience!

We booked the tower room as a special night on our vacation. Booked it on the hotel website and prepaid. Arrived after a long day of travel to learn they gave it away. Pretty disappointed as it was the main reason we came here and could have stayed at a different spot closer to the airport.

Great friendly staff on arrival. However booked for three and got a room for two but was quickly resolved. Rooms exellcent nice decor and clean. Great room service. Bar staff mostly pleasant and courteous barr one with a little attitude. Room leaflet advertised a meal deal the restaurant staff knew nothing about. Even when we showed it still in denial and had to argue the point even though it was in print. Food missing from order and waited along time for correction. Food cold on arrival. But food was of a high standard just a pitty of poor service. Nice bar restaurant and lounge areas. Breakfast is superb. Standard check out at 12.00 excellent. A nice jesture of validation or car parking was offered due to our issues. Much appreciated Thank-you. I would stay again and recommend.

Quite simply perfect from the friendly and efficient check in staff to the spotlessly clean room and the beautifully recently refurbished bar and restaurant. Had a fantastic time my only regret is that we couldn t stay longer. Will definitely return.

While the rooms were super the experienced was spoiled by a lack of staff in the bar requiring us to ask several times for someone to take our food order. Had we been going somewhere we would have had to eventually get up and leave. In fairness when we complained while paying for the food the staff gave us one of the meals free so well done for that.

Overall a pretty positive experience except for the confusion over my room rate. I booked the room only rate online but discovered after 5 days that I was being charged for the bed and breakfast rate. My daughters and I would have eaten breakfast in the hotel restaurant if we had known it was included.

A special word of thanks to Restaurant Manager Graham whose attention to detail was impeccable, his kind and friendly personality when greeting guests was outstanding making guests feel at home - quite an exceptional Manager. We would highly recommend this Hotel and look forward to returning in the future.

My wife and I stayed on the first anniversary of our wedding in Thomas Prior Hall - it was included as part of the wedding package.
Room was clean, well presented and ideal for a night away.
Breakfast was excellent.

The front desk staff were very helpful, particularly when we checked in. He wished us a happy anniversary :-)

The hotel on the outside is beautiful. Very manorial Inside the common areas are reformed and very well. Breakfast buffet plentiful and good, lots of variety. The family rooms are on the ground floor so they have little light, the furniture is a little old and would need some reform but they are quite spacious and the bathroom very correct and clean.
The hotel staff is very friendly and they solve all doubts correctly. The cleanliness is good.
The situation is good 10 minutes by bus from the center depending on the traffic.
I would definitely repeat it and recommend it.

Looks like a Palace but service is hopeless. Not so friendly staff, they charge 7 to just deliver empty bowl in your room! Would recommend Clayton Cardiff lane anyday. Which has way better customer service and also gym n swimming pool.

Zero cleaning, blood on the sheets, hair in the bathroom, horrible coffee, the breakfast is also craving for eggs too plastic and without texture, bacon looks like a pork steak and they still charge an extra breakfast and the staff are still rude, the only thing good at breakfast was the paquecas and the sausages, the dinner was average

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The grounds are kept up and the rooms are very nice! It's within walking distance of some pubs and a few shops. You can't really walk to the main shopping area or any of the main sightseeing attractions the best method would be by bus or taxi. My husband and I did walk to the main shopping area but it took us about 40 mins and it's a fairly decent hike but it's a strait shot down the main road. So if you are up for an exercise you can walk to Trinity College and Grafton sweet (for shopping) but I would probably advise against it. Other than that it is a fantastic hotel and would definitely recommend it!

We booked 5 nights in a family room without breakfast. Busstopp is direct in front of the hotel.
We got the possibility to go to the breakfast by a card. We did it one day but it was expensive for such a poor choise and chaotic organisation. We ate better in a youth hostel. We had 3 marmelades, 1 bread (very good), toast, 2 kind of sausages, 1 cheese, fresh fruits (Melone and pineapple where great) and a warm buffet (scrambled egg, fried egg, 2 kind of sausages, potatoe, beans, tomatos). The Lady there was very friendly. For 2 adults and to kids (under 10 years) we paid 40 Euros. The floor at the restaurant was dirty.
The rooms are ok, quiet, good beds but less space, espeacialy for the cloth and for the towels. The roomservice was very bad. 2 days we got water, 3 days not. 1 day we had 4 towels for 4 people, than 3, 2, 3 but never 4 again. Floor stays dirty. The pyjamas where thrown to the bed. In every other 4 star hotel the pyjamas layed perfect on top of the bed. Everything is loveless.
Service at the reception was crowded all the time. The people gave the best, but I wish to get a good evening if we came in or a happy halloween.
For business or weddings would be the hotel ok.
If we will visit Dublin again, we will book a different location because we are not agree with this performance for much money.

Stayed at your hotel last Friday, after I booked I requested not to be put near function room area as I had a very bad experience a couple of years ago. When we got to our room opened curtains to see it looked out onto a smoking area.
Check in gave us the wrong room number so we had to return to reception to get sorted.
Room only had towels for one in bathroom, no extra pillows in room.
When we checked we were advised that construction work taking place. This didn't bother us until the next morning to he woken by drilling. This was well before 9am

Breakfast was like my first experience poor. Table for four but only set up for three, no milk in jug. Coffee and tea really bad quality as were the scrambled eggs and bacon.
I just can't see how the hotels continues to be rated four stars.

Bedroom was fine. Bar food and wine were tasty. Friendly and helpful staff.

I was disappointed that TVs in bar/lounge area were tuned to a foreign news channel rather than local (RTE News Now) Irish channel.

I was surprised and disappointed at additional car parking charges for hotel guests.

Spacious building with some problems, because we did not see the rooms at four-star level. Breakfast is just ok for the price range. Friendly staff, fast and competent. Convenient location, you get by bus relatively quickly in the city. The railway line to the north and south along the coast can be reached in 10 minutes on foot. Depending on the location it is too loud.

Located not in the city center but in kind of business area but easy access to main city attractions. It's a big hotel, huge, spacey lobby, great banquet Hall (old church). Food at our event was perfectly done, not overcooked, fresh and hot (!). Portions not big but huge!
Iron in each room (which is not normal even in 5 stars hotels)
Rooms could be bit refurbished - sockets next to the head of bed (everyone now charging phones and using them at the same time), there is no such thing like hook for clothes in bathroom - small thing could make your life bit more easy.
Staff friendly and helpfull

So the room is comfortable enough but that the end of it.

The staff is completely useless: giving us the wrong bar times, we had to ask for a fan for the room for 3 times and it took 10 hours, other questions we had met little help.

The cleaners service was very poor. Little or non existent. Stains we had on the sheets was left there for the intire stay and was just covered, towels and mugs were changed on the bases of whatever she felt like (not that much)

The hotel is far (!!) From town 3 and something km.

I felt that along with the distance from town it really wasn't worth the price.
