Famous pub, good atmosphere, it had plenty of places to sit even considering it was a Sunday afternoon. I have sat in the garden opposite in the summer, which is very pleasant.

Great location
Best staff
Odd mix of cosy old pub and large venue near Borough Markets. Surprisingly easy to find seats too. Beer a bit pricey but not to unusual for the area.
Classic London pub, cozy and truly characteristic. Pretty touristy but well prepared menu and excellent draft beer. Personally I had lunch and I found it suitable for families even with young children. Absolutely advisable
Nice place for a few drinks after work good beer and larger selection
Good outside space let down by slow service during busy periods.
Good food, specialty fish and chips and feet, all very good. The place very nice. The service very fast.
Nice atmosphere, but overrun by tourists and they can be overwhelmed by the crowds. Stopped by for lunch before a matinee and almost had to leave without our food.
Nice pub. Varied public in a nice environment on the Thames. And you can also have a nice meal there. Must order it yourself at the bar.
Historic pub. Went to a private party there and area cordoned off was well organised. Have to highly recommend the chicken wings which were really crispy and fresh.
Great pub right on the Thames. Perfect for enjoying a cold one overlooking St. Paul's Cathedral and watching the muddy Thames trickle by
Decent atmosphere for a Saturday drink by the river,
If you want to get a taste of the typical pub atmosphere, this is the place for you
Loud, lively and beer pervading !!! We loved it
Proper tourist pub done properly. Large patio by the river complimented by snug inside spaces.
Tourist prices are tempered by good quality food and drink, supported by access to the Greene King standard offer well adapted to the location.
Fantastic pub with a great beer selection. Very busy but you can get a drink and stand outside so the place accommodates a huge number of people. Head up to the roof if you can.
Very popular pub on the South Bank. Very nice outside seating area overlooking the Thames. Menu and food look good. Evenings can get very crowded and noisy.
Open and really fun atmosphere. Right next to the river with tons of seating.
Nice place very busy sky TV lots of seating food was good and plenty of bar staff very polite and efficient. Drink prices a little expensive but I suppose that the going rate around this popular trendy area full of jodrell types and hipsters.
Chop yummy, though hot and potato without whim. Not a little mole to accompany ...
Great bar, outside seating with a view of the Thames would have been romantic if I wasn't with guys
It's a bit of a maze and it's location means it's full of tourists. The selection of beers is fairly small but they are more craft than mainstream. Friendly service.
Not a huge amount to recommend about this place. For some reason they like having only one of the three bars open when it's busy, so you can wait quite a while to get served. Nice riverside location though.
It is an old, old pub, has a great atmosphere and is said to be a must in London. A lot of people gather to drink beer after work and also to eat. A great point to get to know London life.
Really nice place next to the river - can highly recommend going there when the sun is out as the view is just really nice. Prices are great, sometimes takes a while to get served as it gets crowded and there isnt that much staff to deal with everyone - thats why I am taking a point off.
Very welcoming pub, fish and chips in a workmanlike manner. Higly recommended.
Genuinely must have accidentally pressed 1 star trying to get the Google notification out of my phones notification tray. I am so sorry! Putting my rating to 5 stars as my way of apology
Reserved a table several months in advance for a post-theatre family meal, with our group including children and granparents. Spent a long time trying to find someone to direct us to our table and was eventually directed to a group of management drinking at the bar. Eventually taken to the table which was dirty (although cleaned 5 minutes later), and right beside a very cold food service area. We were provided with one menu between 5 and no instruction that food needed to be ordered from the bar. Promptly left the pub and found a table at a warm wetherspoons nearby!
Typical Greene King rubbish. Pints flat, food took an eternity to arrive and bland and rotten. Unclean tables and moody bar staff.
Very nice setting
We eat at any time
Hearty dishes and with great taste
Very good address
Well, it's not a place where we stay for a long time. Limited and faded kitchen.
Quirky pub with good selection of drinks. Has a roof top terrace and riverside space to eat and drink, as always nowadays plastic glasses outside.
Great place to go when the sun is out. Lots of outdoor space and an outdoor bar makes it easy to keep the drinks flowing.
Atmosphere was great but the food I found cruel and considering the prices even outrageously bad (flavor and prepared)
Good food at reasonable prices. Even better if the background music was turned down.
Got only one beer on site, so can't say much about it. But there were many people.
One of London's oldest and best riverside pubs. Inside, low ceilings, stone walls and a fireplace indicates hints at the age of this pub and in the summer, the pub really comes into it's own with a large balcony on the top floor overlooking the street below and an outdoor terrace by the river to watch the ebb and flow of the river Thames. As a pub, the usual British classics are on the menu such as Fish & Chips (delicious) as well a decent selection of beers on tap. The Anchor is a great place to tuck into your pre-theatre lunch/dinner before a show at the The Globe Theatre which is only 10 minutes walk-away.
Very slow service....non attentive staff for a Friday night, but worse than that ..'sorry no real ales tonight as the guy that changes the barrels is off sick' !!!!! We nearly said we'd change them ourselves !!! Greene King ! Really !!
We paid extra to have breakfast here as we were staying at the Premier Inn, Friday night. Food mediocre, which we could've put up with, but it was the awful woman on Saturday morning that was so unacceptable. The tables were not cleared, no hot water for tea, no plates and then when we asked for things she was so rude and made snide remarks to other guests, it was so awful and she was so scary. We were not the only guests to comment on this.Shame, Greene King, we don't come to London often and all we have remembered is your pub has left a nasty taste in our mouths.
Went with friends. Great old pub in a good location. However, found some of the staff to be a bit rude
Very busy. Good food. I had a lovely gammon an egg. Queues too long at bar area
The amount of food is large. And they serve me food fast.
Great location... But service, drinks and food are only ok...
Historic pub with an incredible location and view across to St Paul's
Special corner of those found throughout the city. Location of a Mission Impossible scene.
The view and atmosphere beside the Thames is electric, though with it being a central London pub the prices of food and drinks can be a bit high if you are on a bit of a budget.
Standard boozer in a good location. Touristy. Shows football. Has a few lagers but nothing crazy.
Facing the Thames, a very friendly atmosphere and good prices. An intimate address, to discover and consume with moderation! Suitable for families (during the day at least )
The food was good but I've been waiting for food (just starter and dessert) for 45- 50 minutes...I think it's too long as it wasn't even the main dish...
Great pub, despite being filled with tourists at any given time and a bit on the pricey side for pints. But the quality is decent, and it's roomy enough to get a seat even for an impromptu pint at 6pm on a Wednesday. Food is delicious too.
The outside terrace is a great place to chill on a hot summers day.
A good cozy pub with loads of seating and a decent variety of beers on tap. A great location makes it a sure place to stop for a pint or more...
Very charming place. Shakespeare himself frequented it. Quirky layout and a great time had here.
The food is ok and if Hemmingway has eaten here what can you say. The pie is good the chicken tikka masala too. Important you can also sit outside with a view of the River Thames. But always order inside then the food is delivered. There is NO urgency in the PUB! So always pay out exactly - if you tip you will be considered quite funny.
Nice pub by the river. Great london views.
Good food.
Great atmosphere and plenty of seating inside and outside..
Bar staff are incompetent, if you're a guy then you've got no hope of getting served. people who turn up in skimpy clothes instantly jump to the front of the queue.
Long wait to be served, understaffed but great location
Nice to sit outside. One if the oldest pubs in London with good fish and chips.
Incredible food (especially burgers) at reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Worth a visit!
Its pub with expensive drinks cos it caters for tourists. Meet there. Have one drink
Leave.
