Overall an absolutely excellent experience. Every member of staff we met from front of house to the bar and restaurant staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful. The room was a good size, breakfast was very good and the building is fantastic. The location is also a plus - less than 5 mins to the RDS and about 15 minutes to Stephens Green yet it's in a great quiet part of town with plenty of good restaurants nearby.

Elegant and friendly service, but no air conditioning and fan requested never made it to our room. Was stuffy and a bit unrestful, made visiting the next day a bit difficult. Was tired.

The building is amazing but the inside decor is very modern and totally contasts the building. I was disappointed by this . You also have to pay for your parking which I think is ridiculous and inconvenient because whenever you want to pop out of the hotel you have to go to reception. Staff were lovely and food was lovely the beds were very comfy .

I give a maximum score because all in all we found everything I was looking for. It had started badly. We had been offered a bad room in a basement, but they changed it immediately. They have a good indoor restaurant. Traveling with a baby 2 years old and has been indispensable. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel for both the center and the airport. In little 'far from the center, but good choice.

Rooms are clean and basically ur average hotel room. So no complaints there. Renovations are taking place at the moment and this is causing a lot of confusion. Signage around the hotel is diabolical. All the guests were wandering around lost. Check in was very slow and frustrating. I was woken before 9am to the sound of hammers and drills so I went for a very disappointing breakfast. The only thing hot about it was the plate. This hotel is convenient for the rds but not much else.

I had two stays here. Both times the rooms were great and very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful with any request. Very comfortable, central to Dublin, and a great price. Has bus stops to town and to the airport right outside

We booked at an inflated price to stay in Dublin while a couple of sporting events were taking place. Upon booking we requested a deluxe family room to accommodate two adults and a 7 and 2 year old. This room was not adequate for our needs, or for what we paid. We were placed in a room with a wet room and disabled access toilet. This was unsuitable for our need to bathe the children, not to say dangerous and slippy for everyone to use the bathroom afterwards. The room had not been updated recently. If you need photos I can provide proof. The bathroom and room itself were unhygienic, rusty and in need of maintenance. Having stayed in the original Bewleys previously with no mishaps or inadequate rooms provided I can only think you were overbooked for the weekend and provided us this room rather than an more appropriate one. We booked at the start of June which should given time to allocate us a decent room on the floors I have stayed in previously which have a bath. We were not asked how our experience was on check out but will be not recommending the hotel to anyone. It's a pity given it's locality to several big places. Please contact me for further information if required.

My wife and I went to the Clayton for a short break that included an evening meal in the restaurant for which we paid in advance. The restaurant was closed on the two evening that we were there. We had a much inferior meal in the bar and when we complained the receptionist said that she would make a refund on the meal. However, instead of a refund, our credit card was debited for the amount of the refund. We are still waiting for the hotel to rectify this mistaken.

****Thankfully, the hotel has sorted out this problem for which I am most grateful.

Nice hotel, very large. Rooms are really big with TV, tea and coffee facilities, bath and heated mirrors. We had to move rooms at 2am due to noisy neighbours but this was taken care of immediately and without any hassle. Breakfast is brilliant, Irish breakfast, cereals, breads, cold hams, yogurt etc. 100 for the night, great price. Very good pubs just down the road too - Mary Macs etc. Recommend staying here

Beautiful Hotel. But so disappointed in the New year celebrations. Not sure who was to blame, but the singer sang two songs. When he sang Auld Lang Syne, he made no attempt to have everyone involved. There was no dancing. Ended upstairs in my room at 12.30am. Wouldn't return for NYE.

check out the matress in room 429 i think it is ready to be replaced very solf do not know if that is he way it is supose to be. no fridge was a suprise. i am dissapointed that you did not have a little shop with a clerk just to buy a median bottle of water to take up to the room. with four of us in the room drinking water was a problem. the breakfast was very good but my daugher would have liked to have some pancakes. i do not know if i would stay there again as i am on a fixed income and would have to be a better price. the hotel is nice and the people i did talk to was very nice. though with all the vending machines to puchase the littlle things i did talk to less people. perhaps that is a finincial decision that mangerment made. there is plenty of room for inprovement like replaceing all vending machines and have a clerk sell water and other small items. do hope this is of some help. til later barney

We always park here for when going to the Aviva. Plenty of secured parking. The food here is really good. The pints are excellent, coffee is spot on, staff are really friendly, toilets are impeccable and there's a real relaxed atmosphere here. Plenty of tellies to watch the matches. Really enjoy the ambience in this hotel, highly recommended stay or stop over.

A magnificent building welcomes you. It was built in 1790. It is written on the floor of the entrance. Impeccable service, very nice rooms, the restaurant in the basement is very cozy and you will be spoiled for choice to choose your draft beer. To go downtown, the DART, the equivalent of the Paris RER, is 5 minutes walk. In short, everything for a successful stay in Dublin.

Myself and a family member were attending a sporting event in the nearby Aviva Stadium and we had decided to stay at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge. We chose this hotel because of its ideal location and previous satisfactory stays. Check in went smoothly and our room was ready to use when required.

However, when we familiarised ourselves further with the room we noticed the bathroom lacked a basic shelf or counter where one could place their toiletries bag. Furthermore, we found the bathroom facilities disappointing, e.g. the shower was not accessible to us.

Also, we were most unhappy to find that our room was located directly over the entrance to the underground car park. We were awoken early to the sight and sound of a bin lorry. This vehicle produced a most unpleasant odour which we felt was most unhealthy. Throughout the morning there was a constant stream of delivery vehicles and regular disruption.

Apart from this our stay at The Clayton Ballsbridge was excellent. The hotel in furnished to a very high standard. The level of service and quality of food was outstanding. The secure car park allows car owners to have peace of mind and the hotel is located in a wonderfully pleasant area. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel and will return in the future.

We were very disappointed with our two day stay here. The hotel was undergoing some very disruptive construction which woke us up at 7:00 AM to the sound of hammers. We were given the wrong room initially and had to switch. But the biggest issue was the staff service in the restaurant. It is a buffet style, but the servers and hostess were very unfriendly and indifferent.

The staff. I can't talk enough about the staff. From the reception staff being the most lovely people and the most accommodating. Oh my god just amazing. The hotel room was so clean and comfortable. A tiny bit too hot, air conditioning would be nice.

Close to mid-night I reported that water was running continuously from the cistern in the WC and was told that someone would be with me in 10/15 mins. The staff member who came to help fairly quickly and told us he had solved the problem by turning off the water, as he was leaving. I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't realised the implications of what he had said. I pointed out that my wife and I weren't prepared to spend the night in a "Deluxe" room with the water turned off in the WC. He then indicated that he would tell the manager and see if they had another room!!!
The manager duly called and apologised and offered to move and upgrade us to an Executive Suite.
On checking out the following morning I presented both sets of door keys assuming there would be a note on the account. However there obviously wasn't, because the check out person started to charge me for both rooms. When I advised him of what had happened he in turn apologised. He then proceeded to tell me I wasn't being charged for the over night parking.
While I appreciate the efforts that staff made to help and the upgrade and the cancellation of the parking fee I would be much more impressed if I got a acknowledgement at check out that there had been an unpleasant experience / disturbance and a feeling of concern that it had detracted from my stay PLUS a follow up call or email some days later reminding me that I'm a valued customer.
For me, assuming that an upgrade and cancellation of a parking fee somehow makes things right, is a lazy approach to customer relationship management and not impressive..

I hope the more expensive room are better. I was there some years ago and the room was not bad as the one I was this time. The bathroom is tiny, really, the shower is claustrophobic. I remember a big awesome breakfast while now is an average one, not bad but nothing special.
I will never get back there even of stuff was nice.

I booked two nights in the Clayton Hotel at short notice for a weekend break with the kids. The hotel was immaculately clean, the breakfast was top class and the restaurant menu was ideal for us and the kids.
I will be staying there again next time I am in Dublin with the family.

The Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge deserves its 4 star rating. My wife needed to see a doctor and the staff arranged that for us. Despite a storm-related power cut which caused chaos with the computer system, they were able to produce delicious food at just before 10 pm and we have nothing but praise for the night shift staff.

The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. We asked for a late check-out and we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel was fairly quiet until midday, the usual check-out time.

Graeme, thank you for the reply but I don't see us returning anytime soon with the other options in the area.

Service at this place is really lacking! Things you would consider given in a hotel room are missing like mini bar, drinking water. Electrical points are missing by the bedside which isn't great either. Exorbitant room service charge of 7 euro!!!

I booked via our corporate site and stay in Dublin...

I booked via our corporate site and stay in Dublin almost every week. As our head office has moved location, I'm trying to test each hotel and work out the right one for me over the coming months. The issues I have are...

- I was checked in with no issue, but put in a room in the basement. This meant I was underground and natural light was virtually zero.
- on arrival at the room, I was given a rom with three single beds for a solo person clearly on business
- I asked to change as the room was one of the most miserable rooms I've ever been given in a hotel
- my new room was an adapted room, so I didn't have a bath and the bathroom was very badly laid out (eg no space to put toiletries)
- the bar was majorly lacking atmosphere and made the whole evening feel uncomfortable...I restored to room service as the bar was so uncomfortable

In fairness, perhaps this is a good hotel and I was unlucky. The room service was ok, other than forgetting some of my meal, and it's fairly clean. The wifi is also good compared to other places.

It's not a business hotel and the fact that both rooms had little seating space, too many beds and a general lack of character means I'm highly unlikely to return unless there's a whole raft of rooms elsewhere that are of a much higher spec. The website claims the rooms have been upgraded since Clayton took this over...I struggle to see evidence that this is true.

My wife and I stayed with our 2 boys at the The Clayton for a short 2 night Easter break. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The beds were so comfortable and overall we had a great experience. The breakfast catered for all our needs and generally the food in the hotel was excellent. Although there was renovation work being carried out on the hotel we very rarely heard or seen any of the builders. Very enjoyable stay and one that myself and my family will repeat.

Staff in the restaurant were not very helpful, we waited over an hour and a half for our food and it turned out that the waitress who took our order forgot and the waiter who we asked about our food too didn't bother to do anything. Hotel was very clean and the reception staff were polite and helpful

very disapointed with the new menu - it made it very difficult for a coeliac. I have never had an issue before but every main course on your new menu has wheat in it. surly for a balanced menu one dish could me made Gluten free. the Waiter was very helpful but no body needs all this extra attention. I like to just order and get on with it.

Outside is beautiful. The rooms are fine although they could update them a bit. Breakfast is very good but you have to wait a lot for coffee. Recommended especially if you go to an event in RDS.

Absolutely stunning building and rooms are well-appointed. Only complaint is the shower occasionally changes temperature fairly drastically. Great location, walkable to grocery and restaurants, bus stop eight outside.

Spacious room, coffee, tea and water provided in the room. These are supplemented daily. Very easily accessible by public transport. Great resto and bar with friendly staff. Tasty and extensive breakfast with service.
