BBB this organization does not protect us or speak on our behalf when a San Diego business has a corporate headquarters in another state. You stand alone when these corporate companies walk all over us as consumers.
Now I understand why business's have less and less integrity in our city.
The company I was experiencing problems with (Extra Space Storage on Sherman St. San Diego, CA) has 95% negative review.
They really could care less about customer review, obviously. There is no one holding them accountable for reasonable or fair treatment of the public.

I did not have to call Turko as BBB quickly responded to my complaint about a doctor who is billing me twice for the same doctor service. They sent a letter to the doctor and he finally sent me an apology letter after so many phone calls to his staff about the discrepancy.

Terrible, no help so far at all. Have been working with BBB since December is now February. 100% backs Jerome's the company I made the complaint against. BBB has this business with a AAA rating with them. How can that be? BBB service has been so bad I didn't even want to give it 1 star however I had to choose a star to be able to post this.

January 31, I clicked on an on-line link to order samples of 2 products: January 31, I clicked on an on-line link to order samples of 2 products: skinrefresh and eye Sensation from Essential Skin Now, 1507 E Valley Parkway, Suite 3-485, Escondido CA 92027. I looked specifically for any indication I would be put on some kind of recurring order and saw nothing (I've been trapped like this in the past). Paid $5.99 for each sample. Products came with no information other than a return label for a company called Essential Skin Now. On Feb. 14 I was charged $92.99 from "infiniteforskolinprice.merchannv" and on Feb. 15 I was charged $92.97 from "8552637304greencoffee" on my Citi credit card. I called the 888 number on the return label to ask if the charges had to do with the samples I received and was told those charges would be recurring because I hadn't called and cancelled my account within 14 days of ordering. Believe me, had I known this, I would never have ordered the samples in the first place and there was nothing stating an account would be set up nor how much I would be charged if I didn't cancel "my account". The representative (phone# on the return label) I reached was located in Colorado and said he could only offer a 50% refund for each charge since I hadn't canceled within 14 days and had "agreed to the charges" which I certainly would not have done. But the refund was offered only after I mentioned I was going to put negative reviews with the BBB, Google and Yelp reviews, and with the Attorney General office in California. I believe companies that do this need to be upfront on their initial link stating clearly what will happen when you order including: cancel-by dates, recurring charges, and how charges will appear on one's credit card. Greencoffee??? What kind of BS is that--makes me think it is a scam. If not, this kind of bait and switch tactic should be ILLEGAL. Thank you for hearing me out--Janice Liane

As far as being an entity to 'force' LA Fitness to respond to me after they did nothing for 3 months without out the BBB it got them to respond. I don't see how just a response that does not address 100% of the concerns and to just say names were mixed up is attending to customer service and satisfaction. Also, the business was allowed 2 weeks for a rebuttal but I was allowed 1 is not equitable. LA Fitness was not held to a customer service standard so I don't see the resolution. I don't see how lying and not for filling sales promises meets a business standard. The BBB is just an impartial entity so there was no resolution and LA Fitness got to keep money they lied to get. I would not recommend signing contracts with LA Fitness.

The BBB is indeed a sham. We had an A rating until we refused to pay $500 annual membership. Also they have rules about business that they apply to some business and not others making it nearly impossible to be an honest small business and stay in compliance with the BBB's arbitrary rules AND stay competitive with larger corporations who break the very same rules we are supposed to comply with but somehow ($$$$$$) maintain their high BBB score? And when you ask why they simply say that those business are the jurisdiction of another BBB and they can't comment on why they are not in compliance. CUSTOMERS and BUSINESSES beware.

They were very helpful in aiding me with an issue ...

They were very helpful in aiding me with an issue with a company. I would highly recommend if you have an issue with a company and it seems that the people aren't listening, don't care, or try to blow you off. Simply contact the BBB and they will contact the company. They are not lawyers but they just help aid in getting the lines of communication open. This is the best way. Always document, have your facts, make a list of names of people you spoke with, phone numbers, what was said. That way when the corporate managers have to review they will be able to figure who where the problems started and why it wasn't fixed. They also can help in resolving. The Company was very grateful to me in actually providing a list of steps that I took. I provided them with names, phone numbers, what was said, What happened. The corporate office in California had no idea of what was happening on the lower level here in TEXAS. I had no idea that the California office owned the company here in Texas. But luckily the BBB has so much information on companies and it was easier. The Company was able to refund me some money that was promised. I didn't have to repeat my story and they took disciplinary action on the employee who actually lied to them when they asked. But they didn't realize that I had spoken to several other people and it was documented in their system PLUS they had video of me being there. So sometimes big corporations need the customers just as much as we need them. We all need the BBB sometimes to open those lines of communication. You would think that people would do their jobs but sometimes they don't then they try to blow customers off on the low level. USUALLY that works. But sometimes people can contact BBB and they can contact company. Then the lines of communication seem to be open and you can speak to people who are on a higher level and if you have all your facts, documentation straight, then things get resolved FAST. Thank you BBB. You're AWESOME!!

BBB is a joke! Their ratings of "BBB Accredited" businesses are not based upon how well the business treats it customers but only on the business putting money in BBB coffers. A great example of this is BBB's rating of OnTrac (delivery service).

OnTrac has poor reviews literally everywhere EXCEPT at the BBB. Yelp gives one star, Google gives 1.6 stars but BBB gives them an A+. Even then, BBB themselves shows 201 customer ratings: 1% positive and 97% negative, yet they still have an A+.

The BBB is a lesser form of Yelp. They do help people reconcile some issues with businesses, but they dont consider facts when people post reviews on their website or deal with disputes through them. They only consider that a consumer is unhappy, whether its reasonable or not and give them advice on how to hurt the business if they do not want to concede to them through the BBB. Combine that with half wit employees and you've got yourself a bad combo.

BBB certainly helped! I had a complaint with Navien company regarding replacing a faulty boiler and got nowhere dealing directly with them. Through the BBB I finally got at least some satisfaction, though not my total request. Only problem was that the ticket was closed by BBB before we finalized the result so that it looks like Navien did nothing for me when they actually offered me a percentage of my claim.

ABC and 20/20 discovered and caught the BBB red handed in commiting fraud. Now attorney generals of various states are calling for action against them. Everyone say this outloud "THE BETTER BUSINESS BEUREAU HAS BEEN CAUGHT COMMITING UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES AND FRAUD AGAINST NATIONWIDE AND LOCAL BUSINESSES" . We all thought they were the organization that was suppossed to warn us about such unsavory businesses. Turns out the commissioned sales staff operate JUST LIKE THE MAFIA.

I notified the BBB that a company that they list as A+ and accredited does not have a state license. The BBB doesn't care if a company is licensed to conduct business or not. As long as they get their $500 per year they will list anyone "accredited". They are putting the consumer at risk by listing Smart Shield Systems as "accredited" with an A+ rating. BBB is a huge scam.

Emailed licensing information, links to court websites showing our website listed, mailed the BBB the handouts given by the court when people pay for online traffic school. After months they still have us listed as unlicensed. This has been hurting our business as it shows up in Google when searching on our company name. The San Diego BBB false claim has cost us thousands in business. It seems they most likely want to be paid to correct the listing but it is just wrong to intentionally harm others for money. Seems like it should be a crime, extortion.

It is all to often that we raise our voice and complain when we feel we have been decieved, cheated , overcharged, etc. by a business. It is truly rare these days when we see someone taking the time to tell others about the "good" experience they have had with a business they have patronized. We would like to take the time to mention one of those really good experiences we have had with this business. My wife and I have been going through an exceptionally hard time financially and although it broke our heart to do so we were forced to sell some of our family's valuable antiques. We called several local dealers who told us they were not interested in buying anything at this time. A friend in Florida mentioned to she recently made a fairly expensive purchase from this dealer online and over the phone and was overwhelmed with the personal attention she received and the extensive knowledge the salesperson she worked with exhibited. We decided to give them a call but were told by the gentleman who answered our call they would only interested in taking our items on consignment. He then turned our call over to a lady who took the time to listen to our story and she told us to bring the items over to their showroom or send her some photos. We took over a few of our smaller items and photos of the rest and when we were intoduced to the owner she took a genuine interest in our situation and the items we were trying to see. She said that although they were only taking consignments she would make an exception and ultimately purchased almost everything we were selling at the price we were asking without even haggling over the price. She made us feel truly important in a warm and caring way, spent over an hour talking with us, and then said she hoped when things turned around for us we would return again to make a purchase rather than sell something. It is certainly rare these days to meet a business person that was more concerned with us as people than the items we were trying to sell. We would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a different experience, a very good one indeed.

These 5 stars be ONLY FOR San Diego Office of BBB: the female who answered the phone have listening c.s. attitude, who I spoke to. As I called to comment about the FAILURE (what I rate as ONE STAR) of the NATIONAL/General BBB webdesign that I was using. Webdesign so to make a consumer fail to file a report. Hence not progress through all the pages to file, as there be no < to > pages. Without loss of data. Only a webdesign (lack of) quality that enjoys attacking itself.

I am a business owner. I am honest and reliable and great to work with. I really don't need to use the bbb logo to prove this or generate leads. yet I get harassing emails talking about questionaires and compliance. This latest one basically says that if I don't fill it out so they can rate my company, that I look unwilling to be honest and open. It hints that this may reflect on whatever page they have assembled for me.

I have been a member for many years in the past. The BBB is a scam. if I want to generate leads or use them in a sales pitch as if to prove honesty, all I have to do is pay 400$ a year. That is it. Sure they might check licensing or do some other basic public record type items. But their real existence is to make money.

People who say "bbb is great been a member 40 years" are strengthening their claim to honesty through the use of somebody else's company. You shouldn't have to. And I don't need to. Yet they continue to call and email trying to bring my 400$ back into the fold. Though now its taking a different tone.

This is the true BBB.... an advertising sales team, little more.

Certa Pro business owner (Carlsbad, Vista and Oceanside) Josh Sacora submitted a bill with a clear total, avoided the two normally scheduled times we would meet and go over the bid, and then submitted a bill for almost $1800 more, threatening to take me to court if I didn't pay. I refused to pay the full amount and split the difference; I feel I gave in to blackmail and shouldn't have.

Several people have looked at the bill, including an attorney, and said they would have read it as I did. To say the least, it's highly ambiguous, and further, nothing was signed at any point. The job that was done by Marco and his crew was of high quality and perfectly satisfactory.

The Better Business Bureau team was most responsive and timely in keeping me informed of the status of my issues. Folks need to know that although the BBB may not be able to satisfactorily resolve the issue, they offer a forum where others can be informed about the questionable agencies. They are an excellent avenue to seek assistance with or to warn other consumers from doing business with entities possessing less than reputable business practices. I was most satisfied and will, without hesitation, contact them again if needed.

Seems Like Just A Bad Joke to Me.

Seems Like Just A Bad Joke to Me.

After I was assaulted by a company of obnoxious telemarketers based in San Diego, I filed a complaint with the BBB. My specific request was that these jerks never contact me again.

First let me be clear about the company I complained about: They were total, obnoxious, aggressive jerks. Politely asking them to remove my phone number from their database was about as effective as asking a pile of rotting fish to smell like petunias. All they did was continue their aggressive behavior.

So I turned to the San Diego BBB for some assistance. Their form asked what resolution I would like. That was easy. I would like for them never to contact me again.

Here was the business' non-response:

"Our marketing department is very excited about our product. I wouldnt say they are agressive, they are persistant because of how much we can do with smb's."

That was total BS, and nothing more than adding insult to injury -- which I pointed out. It completely failed to acknowledge the problem, completely failed to respect my point of view, and made NO PROMISE WHATSOEVER OF ANYTHING THE BUSINESS WOULD DO IN ANY ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE COMPLAINT. So I pointed out that the response was completely unacceptable.

The BBB's response to that?

The Better Business Bureau has determined that the business made a good faith effort to address the complaint and has now closed it

The BBB has determined that the company s response exhibits an understanding of your grievance and addresses the disputed issues. Therefore, the BBB has decided to close your complaint.

So I phoned the BBB. I was told that if any business makes any reply that even mentions the complaint, it's regarded as a "good faith effort to resolve the complaint."

Completely useless. A total, absolute, unfunny, bad joke.

Where does one go to complain about the BBB? Here, I guess.

And my only complaint about THAT is they already have so many bad reviews that my "one-star" won't knock them any lower.

I can't understand how BBB can rate Hearst Magazine Corp a+ because they resolve issues only after a complaint is filed. When the Hearst corp fixes the deceptive practices(ie: auto renewals with out consent, subscriptions with out consent, so much fine print, etc..) then maybe they would earn an A grade. For close to 500 complaints in 3 years, you should know there is a problem. Consumers should not have to file complaints over the same thing for years on end. They should also be able to resolve these issues directly with the company they are dealing with.

The Better Business Bureau has allowed a false def...

The Better Business Bureau has allowed a false defamatory review of our company to be posted. On it's face it is outright false and defamatory without any due diligence . We have requested in writing the false review be removed. Our company attorney has requested the false review be removed. They have failed to comply and we are documenting the number of times along with times and dates we have requested the review be removed. This woman failed to pay her bill, we exercised our right to send her to collections, she paid the collection agency and years later is maligning us online.

This is not our first problem with the BBB. Years ago we were a paid member of the BBB. When we terminated our annual membership they lowered our grade. There are companies such as Yelp who have thousands of complaints with the BBB but somehow miraculously maintain an A rating.. nothing sinister going on here! We have replied to the review more than once and the BBB seems to have redacted what I wrote.

We have demanded the BBB remove a false review posted by Belinda Williamson, we have sent the following letter via email and facsimile:

To whom it may concern,

We are hereby requesting an official removal of the false review posted by Belinda W. on 11/24/2016. This review is false, disparaging, erroneous, libelous and defamatory. We sent Belinda Williamson to collections several years ago for failure to pay their service bill over several months. We were well within our rights to collect on outstanding debt owed, this debt was confirmed by the author because they PAID the collection agency

We do not have an F rating.

We do not have "lots of complaints".

We have over 17,000 SATISFIED customers since 1996, customers who PAY THEIR BILL!!! Customer satisfaction is guaranteed, they have made no factual statements where we did not perform or provide outstanding customer service, failure to pay your bill doesn't constitute poor customer service when you are later sent to collections, liened, or sued.. all within our rights under the law. Review later states " I ended up paying because I didn't want to deal with a dishonest company/ owner." 17,000 SATISFIED customers would disagree we are dishonest. This review is riddled with libelous false claims. Please remove it or you will be hearing from our company attorney we will name both Belinda W and the BBB in our defamation suit.

Thank You for your cooperation.

Bottom line the BBB sucks and we are reviewing our options to sue them along with the original posted for defamation libel and loss of business I would never become a paid member of the BBB again and I will be sure to convey to everyone the way they conduct business.

As a consumer it is the biggest waste of time to do business with any better business bureau. Better Business bureaus are paid by businesses. There is a huge conflict of interest. The only one that they are going to side with ,is the business that pays them. Every time I ever asked a Better Business Bureau to help me out, the outcome was absalutley useless. Ask consumer we have no rights at all an we have nobody to help us with all these bulley corrupt businesses in the world today. I wish I could talk to Donald Trump and tell him to cut all these government so-called agencies that are supposed to help you that do nothing but justify a job for a bunch of incompetent people it is the biggest waste of tax payers money we could save trillions just getting ready of all these government useless job that do nothing but justify a pay check for somebody related to a government employer or a family member.the Better Business Bureau is a complete joke to.Another waste of your time to even talked to they are there to help the corrupt businesses not you an they are as corrupt as the business that you are trying to put the complaint against. My advice to all consumers do not even waste your time. You will just get aggravated with the outcome. And it will be in favor off the business not you.

I do not trust the BBB or Yelp because both of these organizations accept money from companies in the form of membership fees and/or advertising sales. If you are taking money from organizations that you are supposed to impartially review, I have sincere doubts about the candor of those reviews. It's pretty much like politicians who say they are against "Wall Street Big-wigs" but accept campaign donations from them. How impartial and honest can your reviews be when your company relies on payments from these organizations to pay the bills?

Hi BBB,

Hi BBB,

I hope your next year reviews are going to better than 2016 reviews. When an organization such as the BBB has more bad reviews than good reviews I feel their is certainly a larger underlining problem with the BBB then meets the eye. In San Diego I feel a re-organization review should be in order. By all indications of the staff and managements decision concerning complaints that I have read and what they can really offer the consumer is considerably alarming.

It appears the research the BBB actually does when a complaint comes forward makes the consumer jump through more hoops with the time they have spent to file a complaint than the results they actually receive. The juggling act is unbearable and frustrating especially for those who are seniors.

One company I found was Noli Construction aka GW Construction currently has a A rating on the BBB web site even though I reported them to the BBB as has others. Yet they continue to use the BBB logo on their presentation brochure to sway how reputable they might be. This alone tells me the BBB has little to no and enforcement power .
While Noli Construction aka GW Construction continue to receive numerous poor reviews and complaints at the BBB, YELP and further with the CSLB little has been done. Possibly the BBB should be reviewed as well on ethic violations, fraud, and a many other violations. The consumers look at the BBB sort of as a protection agency but the only thing they are protecting is their revenue stream and companies which should be reported to the SD District Attorney office or to our states Attorney Generals office. In the meantime this company is ripping people off, threats of legal action, liens on their property, providing poor workmanship and acting as if they were some big company that does not use sub contractors and in all actuality that's all they use.

One of the best things the BBB could do is, instead of keeping the individuals who have complaints apart bring them together so possibly further action could occur as a group.

Right now instead of the BBB being part of the problem the BBB should become part of the solution.

I did not get the desired result, which was to have the business co-operate with me in resolving my problem. They have now told me I have to pursue the issue in Small Claims Court. Needless to say, this is a cumbersome issue since the incident in question occurred in Fresno County and I now live in Hawaii County. Although I appreciate the BBB offering a free service to address such issues, during the process I did not have any phone contact so I could understand if the person representing my problem to the business had a feeling for what the extent of the problem actually was. I only received e-mail updates that simply stated the business was not going to comply. In other words, I don't know how hard the person fought with the business to resolve the issue in my favor. Also, the business changed their reasons for denying my request for assistance from when I was dealing with them directly. That is to say, they told me one thing and BBB another. Thank you for doing what you did, but I am still stuck with a costly problem to myself. Sincerely, Dennis Elek

The BBB is trustworthy and always willing to help consumers that have been scammed to resolve disputes with businesses. I would highly recommend seeking the BBB's assistance. We recently had a dispute with a business over charges that we felt were not warranted and unjust. I honestly though filing with the BBB would do very little but we went ahead and did it anyway. Much to our surprise and much satisfaction we had a response from the company and reimbursement of our credit card within three days of filing. If you feel you have bee unjustly charged I encourage you to file. This team worked quickly and efficiently to get our situation resolved.

I highly recommend people with small claims to seek the help of BBB if after trying your best to resolve the issue (problem of bad product, bad service or bad deal) but still can't get any result. I did and BBB helped me resolved the issue with 100% full satisfaction.

I called to ask why a company with 84 complaints regarding advertising issues has an A+ rating. Despite repeated requests to put me on the DNC list, a company continues to call me. I was told by the BBB that an 'algorithm' determines the ratings. They would not even allow me to submit another complaint, because I have complained before. Sounds more like the BBB is getting paid off.

Had an issue with not receiving an item that was paid for. Was given the run-around from the vendor. Informed the bnb and wah-la had my product from t the vendor within the week.

Bnb was quick to take the case and look into what was going on and followed up till the issue was resolved. Excellent communication with myself and vendor - making sure everyone was on the same page.

Thanks BBB!

My name is Craig Scott and I needed help dealing with Nixon Watch Company. I had purchased a brand new state of the art iphone connected surfing watch that did not perform as stated by Nixon Watch. While attempting to return the watch for refund (within the first month after purchase)and wasting my time for three months getting the run around by Nixon customer service reps, (no return of my calls, ignored emails, customer rep supervisor promising me refund and then no refund and stopping contact with me,and best of all lied to about how to get the watch to perform as stated by one of the design team who created this watch) I turned to the BBB. Ms.Dyer handled my complaint and got to see firsthand how dishonest Nixon Watch is. Numerous correspondence from Ms. Dyer to Daniel Escobar ( Nixon customer service supervisor who I had dealt with for months) resulted in Nixon agreeing once again to send me a full refund and directed me to send them the watch. AFTER SENDING THEM BACK MY WATCH and then receiving nothing for three months and once again Daniel Escobar not returning my emails or phone calls I had Ms. Dyer get involved again ( as now Nixon had my watch and my money ) and I finally received a full refund. Nixon at that time sent Ms. Dyer and myself an email stating that it took that long for their accounting department to process my request and issue a check. I first contacted Nixon watch about my return in October 2015 and finally received my refund April 2016. Sure did not take that long for them to sell me the watch. Without the help of Ms. Dyer and the BBB I am certain I never would have received the refund.
