Very good evening, went on new years eve. Jolly good.
I have visited the conference centre of the hotel but not the rooms. From a quick look, the hotel presents a very interesting historical character and the environment is very welcoming. The WiFi is working well. The food provided was of good quality.
Lovely hotel, food is good, we use this hotel when sailing from Southampton.
Visited for a company training day, the day went superbly well thanks to the warm friendly welcoming staff. Both the facilities and the mature landscaped gardens added to the whole day. Those that stayed the night before were very positive about the rooms. Would be an ideal venue for anyone whether for a corporate event or a wedding reception or stop over point on a journey. Hope my company will use it again for the next training event.
this hotel is amazing the countryside the setting is just fantastic I stayed here just before my holiday I was due to depart from Southampton the next day is so close easy to get to the staff are very friendly as reasonably priced the restaurant was not amazing however the breakfast was really good lovely walk set in lovely woodland surroundings they have a free pool you can use and gym which I took advantage of on the morning before I departed to Southampton great get you going in the day would highly recommend a lovely place to stay
Comfortable room. Pool and sauna good. Lovely setting
Very quite for 14:30 Sunday. However, turkey lunch was excellent and tasty. COVID-19 conformance adhered to throughout. Pleasant staff.
First time we've been there since lockdown.
Main lounge and restaurant refurbished. Good job. Got rid of that old fashioned feel.
Modern room on 2nd floor, a bit chilly and the air handling system is noisy - but thankfully is not running overnight. Excellent food, if a little on the pricy side Have stayed before and am likely to stay again
Had a lovely relaxing stay, the hotel is very clean and pleasant surroundings The food was presented well and very delicious. The staff very helpful and polite. Can't wait to go back.
Beautiful setting..very clean also staff very helpful.we have stayed there twice now and will be again when sailing from Southampton in Sept.
Dated. Needs a refurb. Needs more staff. Ordered a bottle of prosecco was given wine glasses as they had ran out of flutes???
A very pleasant stay, but service sometimes a little rough around the edges. This hotel is centered around a historic manor house with contemporary wings leading off from it.
'the Club' fitness centre is a short walk apart from the hotel and offers a generous size pool with sauna, steam room and jucuzzi. I was a little wary of the policy of giving your room number and handing over the room card as someone unscrupulous could easily ask for return of another's card by listning for the number as it was given.
The staff were largely friendly and attentive but we also had times where they were overly familiar or couldn't speak basic English despite waiting tables.
Our experience was not let down by these small niggles however and we had an enjoyable stay which (for the quality of the setting and facilities) was reasonably priced. Would recommend for anyone seeking accommodation in the area.
Highly recommend. Nothing to fault. A perfect venue for rest, celebrating, shopping trip
Hard to fault. Nice gym, pool, clean, tidy, nice grounds. Ideal for Southampton.
Attended a spa day with lunch. Food good. Spa day very good. Would definitely do it again.
Excellent service, lovely clean fresh bedroom, food perfect, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We have stayed at this hotel with the cruise package on a number of occasions and have always been satisfied with our room. This time we upgraded to Executive and the room was awful. noisy, hot, view of walls and chimneys, cramped. We were told the room was executive because it was in the main manor house. This isno justification for a poor room. And no justification for classing it as executive. A total con
One of my favorite hotels. The gym is a short walk but well worth it.
Cheaper to stay with parking than paying at the port without the panic of getting to the ship on the day of sailing
Room was OK, not amazing but OK. Dinner was good but breakfast could have been better.
Exelent place for a wedding, good service, friendly staff, good breakfast ,just a little disappointed with the room. bed a bit small, tele didn't work, no signal apparently.
I booked this hotel as we are going to a funeral tomorrow, I did actually say when booking that that was why we were staying here. I appreciate that its christmas party time but I do think it would have been courteous to either let me know we would have a room right next to the party rooms or put us in a room away from the noise. Thanks very much
Nice hotel. Staff are very helpful. Nice grounds to walk around.
The hotel is lovely with beautiful grounds and staff are friendly. However having stayed here for my son's birthday it was slightly ruined as we were told no children were allowed in the pool! Toddler didn't take this well! Can only swim between 3:30-5 on weekends! If this was known we would not have booked as our search was hotels with a pool to take him on his birthday! Didn't see this info online but having searched and searched quite thoroughly, it does appear to state this in tiny writing! Easier to find that you cannot bring pets! Believe this information should be highlighted as many stay here after being to Paultons park! We even left the park early to make it in time for a swim! Disappointing!
Nice hotel in a nice location. Breakfast was good and room was lovely. Leisure facilities are in a separate building which felt odd. Children under 18 (although children over 12 have to been booked in as adults) can't use the leisure facilities except limited use at the weekends and they are very jobs-worth about it.
Staff were rather snooty about it as well. Not impressed overall, wouldn't stay their again
Over the phone i was told i have a beautiful view of the grounds! It was ok after you looked over the car park!!!
No preordered fruit bowl in room complained to front desk they just blamed the kitchen! When it arrived an hour later some of the fruit wasnt ripe!
At breakfast i sat down at the table offered i had to ask waiter to replace my cup as it had a big chip in it!
Breakfast was excellant in the food but tea was like not boiled water had a twang to it tried two pots didnt drink a full cup from either!
I just felt nobody cared to provide a service of quality this place how i imagined!
I left extremely disappointed as my wife had just returned from africa and this was a belated anniversary treat! Overall i changed best western to worst western! Dont waste your money by coming here unless they drastically improve things!!!!
Friendly enough service in a fantastic setting. The bar area really lets the hotel down. This place is crying out for a themed bar in one of the many side rooms. I could imagine this place being very popular amongst residents, locals and passing visitors all year around as there is very little local Competition.
Fabulous grounds to walk around. Lovely grand hall for coffee, drinks, afternoon tea or snacks.
Only here for a training event. Nice place and good service. Clean premises from what I saw.
Ok as far as the accommodation is concerned. The restaurant on our first night and first breakfast was poor. Second night and breakfast was good!
Didn't experience full range of facilities but meeting room, reception and grounds are well kept.
I must put this into context. The staff were lovely and the grounds were pretty and the room was above average.
I am traveling with my girlfriend, she's doing a course and I'm spending the day at hotel or locally.
So, the setting is gorgeous, the room is above average. The breakfast was good and the bar is well stocked.
I booked this through hotels.com and it was advertised with sky channels and a jacuzzi, it had neither. It does have wifi, but disappointingly it drops in and out and would not allow my games console to connect to it, so i couldn't watch anything other than terrestrial TV.
There were 5 staff behind the bar and only 3 customers waiting, the two girls were busy making drinks, however the guys seemed oblivious to us waiting and rather lacking motivation.
The room was lovely, but had no air con and was like a sauna (room 17)
The problem with a high price, comes a high expectation, this did not meet that expectation on many levels.
Nice hotel, though no heating in bathrooms and not adequate heating in the bedroom either. Food really nice as are the staff. Let down completely by the spa facilities 2 star at the best.
Poor service and food. Really mediocre duck for the high price, sides brought out as we were finishing the main. Rude staff not offering drinks, forgetting water, snipping when I repeated my drink order as he hadn't acknowledged hearing it then giving no choice. We were the only table too so no excuse. Expected much better, especially as he was a manager.
Beautiful building and beautiful grounds, great venue for weddings.
Very impressive spa facilities and pool, large grounds surround the hotel, bed could be a bit firmer
We stayed here on a secret escapes deal. Excellent value. Good meal with a great selection of courses. Lovely food. The spa was very good. The pool was a good temperature and reasonable size to swim lengths. Only downside is the pool is housed in a building a 5 mins walk outside from main the hotel .
The food here is simply excellent! I am very difficult to please when eating out, I expect a level of service and food that is very rarely found in this country... I left having been very impressed. This is the first and only place I would recommend in the south!
Nice hotel, beautiful, classic building great surroundings. Breakfast a bit boring
Our 4 day stay here has to be regarded as our best ever. A glorious hotel with stunning grounds with every detail to attention enforced. The staff are ultra friendly and extremely efficient and are trained to perfection. Cleanliness is obviously high on the agenda, cleaner than clean. The dining experience is sublime with a marvellous menu catering for all tastes, you will NOT go hungry. I highly recommend Chilworth Manor, you cannot be other than happy with this fantastic venue.
Chilworth Manor is an ideal place for a relaxed few days away.
Set in it's own extensive grounds, it is quiet and unhurried. The room was large (Rm 2) and had all the usual facilities plus the bonus of a towelling robe and slippers.
There are plenty of options for food and drinks, though the menu for the package we booked was slightly limited. However there was the option of transferring the inclusive food allowance onto other menus, with the additional cost being charged to your room. The breakfast choices were particularly good, ranging from cereals and fruit to a full English and were offered buffet style. All the food was very well cooked and kept or werved nice and hot.
The spa and pool is located just a 2-3 minute walk away from the main Manor, and is easy to get to, even as a disabled person. It's open to guests all day and is a great way to spend a relaxing morning.
We did notice a couple of minor issues with cleaning and the telephone didn't work in our room during our stay, but nothing that would stop us from revisiting.
Nice hotel, would stay again but in a different room as we had a dual aspect room where smokers were accomodated under our windows. In the high temps Windows needed to be open as the room was too hot. This was not a nice experience for non smokers. Grounds are good for exploring and I think they are in the process of being tidied up as some of it is a little overgrown. Breakfast was good and hotel service was very good
Good hotel I use this venue regularly good leisure facilities
Never ever will I book this Hotel again. We were both looking forward to having a great few days away with family to celebrate a 70th birthday.
Unfortunately my wife and I had to cancel 2 days prior to our visit due to a sad family emergency.
We then found out that we had been charged the full price of our 2 night stay, as according to the hotel that is company policy. I can understand that a small cancellation fee may be charged but to charge the full price is totally unreasonable especially at such a sad time for both of us.
I spoke to the hotel to see if we could sort some sort of compromise but I was coldly told they could not do anything.
I could go on and say more about the experience my other family members had concerning the cleanliness of the hotel but they are righting their own review.
We visited during a Christian convention a while back. This place had some spectacular gardens and you can just get lost in thought walking there. Maintained to a very high standard, clean, and sparkling. The staff here were very polite and helpful. Could see this place as ideal for weddings, birthdays, and other similar occasions.
Nice looking venue but limited facilities for meetings. No food available bar crisps.
Gave us a room that already was allocated to somone els. Did not give us a cot in the room so we had to re request it. Its a nice place but it could do with a little revamp as it looks a little worn out
My family and I specifically picked this hotel as it looks lovely. Firstly let me say even though it states it is a 5 star on google. IT IS A 3STAR! We came to stay here after a long day out with my 2 children. The floor in the room was very creaky near the toilet so with my children sleeping whenever we got up the floor would creek and both my kids were waking up, none of us have had any sleep! Staines on the pillows, a hole in the baby cot and a broken kettle, so many issues! I had called the reception in the morning for some dental kits, to be told to come down and get it myself! I am extremely disappointed with the service and quality of everything we have had! When we voiced our disappointment we were offered 50% off on our next stay, I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN AS IT IS 2 HOURS AWAY FROM US ASWEL AS THE SERVICE WE RECIEVED WAS NOT GREAT! The supervisor Will, has been amazing and has tried his best to resolve the issues but with little authority not much can be done. The general manager didn't take the matter seriously as there was nothing they could do. For me, that is upsetting that not only was my stay unpleasant and my children were unhappy, I had to ask if they could throw in lunch (which they did). It's a shame that this has been our experience as this has been our first getaway since 2017!! Extremely unhappy with the end result and a lovely family day ruined! I work within the hotel industry and I know giving away wine and taking food off the bill is the easiest way for hotels to please guests, so for us no resolution was done, I feel like we have just been fobbed off. No care, no consideration towards children and not good hospitality!!!!!
Leading up to it was samething else. Was dropping client there
Hotel ok Pleasant staff Unfortunatley the kettle in bedroom kept blowing power to the sockets and no replacement available Floor in bathroom around toilet base could do with some attention
Friendly, helpful, wecoming staff, nice clean luxurious room, imposing driveway and trees The building is beautiful, however the bar area needs sprucing up decorwise, add in a decent gin and cocktail menu as well some warmth and life, the highly varnished tables were trickily sticky. The food on the whole was good but not exceptional.
Disgusting price for drinks. Large open plan lacks privacy and atmosphere. Bed comfort average premier inn far more comfortable mattress.
Lots of food warmed and microwaved. Generally overpriced hotel usually paid by business accounts it seems to me great disappointment but can t see the hotel changing
Ideal place for a business meeting. Good lunch buffet food, especially when it's free (could do with labels though). Helpful staff. Cosy feel to the bar room.
Stayed here many times really lovely place to pre cruise from
Great location. The restaurant is at school canteen level.
Stunning setting but disappointed with value for money and cleanliness.
Beautiful hotel in some luxurious grounds. If you can try and get a room upgrade as it's definitely worth it
Stayed 28th 29th May ... bathroom was in need of attention mainly because not enough ventilation or extraction which cause condensation in which caused the mould on the the ceiling and also made the whole room stuffy..... the childs bed (z bed) really aren't fit for use even for a child under 12 ... saying that it still offers good value for money hence I didn't complain... the breakfast was a buffet style and had plenty of choice ...
A very nice hotel set in it's own large grounds so plenty of good parking.
The old part of the building very grand and a relaxing place for a drink.
The rooms modern, clean and well equipped.
Restaurant a pleasant place to eat and food to a good standard. Breakfast too the same.
Will happily stay again next time I am in the area.
191 for a room for 4 with one bed, no air, no ice machine, and although they have access to a pool around the corner, there are no kids allowed.
Recently refurbished rooms, fast free wifi, free parking, new carpets, comfortable bedrooms, tasty food, reasonably priced, friendly staff and great leisure facilities. Definitely coming back to this one. Well done.
Me and My Family had stayed here for 2 nights (Friday/Saturday and Sunday) Was a really pleasant Stay. The Rooms were tidy and comfortable, The drinks were fantastic. The breakfast was Delicious and Efficient apart from The Majority of the Staff could not speak English so it was hard to explain and ask for certain things. Vali M and Katrina was of excellent Help with most things along with a Young Sikh man who was brilliant in assisting me and my family, as not many people could, kind, well-spoken and Understanding... I would 100% stay again with my family on other occasions just hopefully more Fluent English Speakers...Kind Regards -Kat, Ava and Family
Excellent location to explore the Southampton area. We really enjoyed the Conservation areas around the hotel. Our room, although small, was clean and had plenty of storage areas for our 5-night stay. The only challenge was wifi, which was intermittent at best.
We had a great room with a view of the gardens the room was on split levels with the bedroom up top and a big bathroom on the lower level with all the facility's you would want
This place was recommended to us but we had questions about it. Much of the interior is rather drab and somewhat dated. The pricing, quality and service all left us less than impressed. Also on a Saturday afternoon the place was taken over by a wedding.
We booked a two night offer at this hotel for our 41st wedding anniversary, which included breakfast both mornings and dinner on the first evening. When we went to check out we were asked to pay for the dinner as our booking had been sent through to the hotel as room only! Fortunately I had my original booking confirmation with me to prove we had actually pre paid for dinner and breakfast. This hotel has no air conditioning and our stay was during a heatwave. Although we requested a fan for our room on three occasions we were told they were unable to provide one as they had none to spare! I find it unbelievable that a hotel chain the size of Best Western cannot afford to provide a basic piece of equipment such as a fan in each room in their hotel rooms! As our room was so hot, even with the window open, it was extremely difficult to sleep. One way and another our anniversary break at this hotel was disappointing and I doubt I will stay here again. If you should choose to stay here, take you own fan and ensure you have a copy of your booking confirmation with you. On a good note.....the food was very good.
Very convenient for overnight stay pre-cruise. Beautiful and tranquil grounds in which to stroll and relax. Excellent breakfast.
From the moment we entered the long tree lined drive to Chilworth Manor we knew it was a special place and one that we wanted to celebrate our wedding at.
We were guided through the wedding planning stage by Jo Bennett who helped us and kept us informed throughout the lead up to our ceremony in May.
On the day we were extremely well looked after by Valli who could not have been more attentive. He was extremely calm and professional and ensured everything was catered for . Nothing was too much trouble.. Many guests commented on how helpful he was. HIs team worked so hard and always had a smile on their faces.
The food was plentiful, hot and served promptly and efficiently, and tasted amazing. The accommodation was perfect and the extra touches in the bridal suite were appreciated.
The hospitality continued to be first rate the morning after when Valli met us on our arrival for breakfast and checked we were ok. A lovely touch was letting all our guests enjoy breakfast together in a separate room.
All in all a first rate experience. Beautiful grounds provided a lovely setting for our guests to relax and us to have some wonderful photographs taken. Attentive staff, excellent food and service ensured our wedding day was perfect.
Thank you
Tony and Ali
A nice regency style hotel with comfortable rooms and a small spa. The food in the restaurant was good with relaxed service.
The lunch served had more in common with school dinners than a hotel.
Lovely hotel with good service, comfortable rooms and fast internet.
The inclusive breakfast package was good value but the cost of dining in the restaurant was very high.
