Miserable...Whatever you do, do not let your college kids rent a book from their book rental service. It was one of the worst experiences I and my daughter have ever had. Absolute Insanity and frustration!!! It would be Zero stars if it would let me.

Absolutely horrible online customer service! I ordered a book online for one of my classes, and I paid $17 dollars for two day shipping. All together I spent over $40 on a book for one of my classes. The expected shipping date was October 13th, and they didn't even ship for 5 business days! Again I needed this book in time for one of my classes and they never shipped my book in time for my class. I wanted to cancel my order 5 days later after it never shipped. I contacted online Customer Service twice about this issue. They said they couldn't cancel my order because it was already in the process, but to begin with it never shipped. Online Customer service said I had to return my book but what guess what I got when I returned it? Twenty Five lousy bucks from Barnes and Noble! Not the full $40 I spent on the book. I a student for goodness sake and I gave them money for a two day shipping that never happened! I'm never giving these people money ever again!

The automated phone system for customer service sucks. You tell it one thing and it does something else. It is voice automated and not user friendly. It took ten minutes of saying representative and lots of frustration to finally get it to say hey let me transfer you to some one who can help. Now the human aspect of the call was great and she helped me quickly which is the only reason it got a 3 instead of 1 star.

Do not rent a book for class from Barnes and Nobles! They will advertise that the book comes with a cd however the assess codes don't work! What is the point then? I called customer service and I can send this one back to get another book with hopes that the access code works. I do not have time to do this as it will take until next Monday for me to get that book and I will already have an assignment due. If that books access code doesn't work I would have to repeat this again! I would not have purchases this book if I knew the access codes didn't work! What a rip off Barnes and Nobles!

Wont honor their own internet prices. Awful customer service by cashier and manager on duty. Will never shop there again. Said i could get internet price by going home, ordering, then come back to store for lower price.

This review is in regards to the recent release of...

This review is in regards to the recent release of the book Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos. 1st, there have been several videos and transcripts floating around the Internet of people who are upset that it is not being carried at your stores. I feel that a guest interrogating an associate on a policy set by corporate is unfair. Associates who have guests who are upset about a product release should be instructed to call the corporate office and not get that associate or store in trouble.
2nd, I am very upet with whomever made the decision to not carry this book in stores across the country. I am calling that person or group of people out specifically, not any associate, manager, regional, or other. This is clearly an attempt by the liberal ownership to hinder the sales of this book, which is very right-leaning ( I'll give you that). My biggest concern of this is the hypocracy. BN has carried booms by President George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and countless other conservatives. Why is Milo so different? Why now? It is your right to sell what you want to sell, but why not just come out and say that? It just makes no sense to me.
Lastly, I don't want anything from BN. Just understand that this was a classless move. Definitely losing my business, which is unfortunate because BN stores are always clean, well stocked, helpful, and convenient. It's you, corporate. You just lost another one to Amazon.

I called their number today and who ever answered the phone was rude. I asked for their address and she sounded very annoyed. She gave it to me and before I could ask a question she hung up. I tried calling back several times and all I got was a recording.

*EDIT* Tara from cooperate resolved this issue!!! She went above and beyond what she had to do. Located the item in a different state! very polite and helpful.
side note. thank you to Taylor in Kansas for finding the record.
also to Regillio for being patient and courteous and calling all over the warehouses to also assist and get a speedy response to our issue.
our faith has been restored in Barnes & Noble. Great JOB!!

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! They do not process the book orders in house, they send it off to a third party company that doesn't have ANY customer service, and to contact you have to email and wait 24-48 hours for a response. If you call B&N they will tell you to email them. I tried to cancel an order, with in 24 hours of purchase and this is when I ran into a serious problem with the whole shipping, company and emails...

Have used B&N for years for both hard copy and online (Nook) books, however, have had consistent issues this year with them charging my credit card for a magazine subscription that I never authorized and did not download. I disputed the charges via my banks website several times and finally called more than a week ago and told them to stop charging me for an unauthorized service. I received an e-mail stating that they would reverse the charge. It never happened and I DO NOT RECOMMEND B&N as they continue to make fraudulent charges against my credit card.

I ordered a book a week ago and it was supposed to be here yesterday and the tracking information was not working. I tried emailing the mail innovations a few times and it didn't worked. I called Barnes and Noble and they issued a replacement order. The person I spoke to was nice and understanding

Immediately upon ordering books to be sent to a friend, I realized there had been no place to put a different address. I couldn t change the address online so I called the number given. Over 30 minutes later, the person on the line told me it was too late to change the address or to cancel the order. I asked to speak to his supervisor. Although the first person got online to see my order, the supervisor claimed she couldn t. I ordered the books for my friend s gift on Amazon for half the price and they will be delivered tomorrow. I tried using Barnes and Noble. I know they re in trouble. When the books finally get here, they re going right back!

DON'T ORDER THEIR TEXTBOOKS FOR SCHOOL! I ordered two textbooks from Barnes and Noble in January for my spring semester of 2018 (which is still in progress right now). When I received the books, they were all torn up. They charged my credit card for the rental fee. Now, they have charged an extension fee for both textbooks and a buyout fees. Totaling out to $363 for two textbooks. My semester isn't even over yet. I haven't even began taking final exams, why would my textbooks need to be returned already? I will never buy another textbook from Barnes and Noble again. From now on, I will buy all my textbooks from Amazon.

They steal your money!!! I bought the membership and was told to buy more to get more coupons by their sales audit group. They then cancelled my memberships with 11 months left and not given even a prorated refund. They were very rude and did not communicate until I sent a formal complaint in. They are incompetent and rude in a time when business like theirs are failing.

Absolutely horrid customer service. HORRID. Ordered a book off of THEIR WEBSITE and paid over $122 for it to come in looking like it got torn up with a weed wacker. Called them to see what in the world is happening and all that they could tell me was that it came from a "third party".... IT'S THEIR WEBSITE! The girls that I spoke with were no help what so ever and were just quiet the whole time while I waited for them to speak. Super disappointed with Barnes and Nobel and will never get anything from here again. Sad to see how this company is going.

if you want to have a horrible service experience at every channel then deal with these guys, they will make it memorable one, contacted them via chat on their website, customer service, supervisor, manager, executive support, management. corporate office someone answers the phone and then goes on hold music, 3 times they promised me someone will call, twice left message for call, nothing really happens, the worst experience of my life

Just got out of the Barranca Branch in Irvine with an ongoing online order problem which I had paid for more than a month ago. First, I never got my item, then, they sent me a wrong item. I went in to the store thinking I could get someone to straighten out the mess but boy was I wrong. I had to deal with a very arrogant person name Joe, who happened to be the manager. The guy couldn't figure out what the issue was. I ended up paying for another item and left the store more upset. The guy had a terrible attitude and arrogant. When I asked to speak with the manager, he said "I AM THE MANAGER" It is unfortunate some people are in the positions where they don't belong.

I cannot express my disappointment clearly enough. I was a member consistently for years when my children were younger. Recently, I renewed my membership to do a little Christmas shopping. THAT was a problem. Got that fixed. Came home to update information. THAT was a problem. Got that fixed. I don't live near a B&N. Tried to place an on-line order. THAT was a problem. My information was still not updated and there was cross-referencing of addresses and whatnot. Spoke to human and got that fixed. Tried to redo the on-line order. Only a portion of the order will ship to my home. The other half is ready for in-store pick-up AN HOUR AWAY from my home. When I tried to communicate my frustration to your online assistant, she disconnected. I cancelled my entire order. Years ago, when my children were younger, the customer service - in store and on-line was phenomenal. Today... utter garbage! The customer service is non-existent. I cannot fathom how you treat people like this and stay in business. It truly makes me very sad. My son is an avid (to the point of obsessive) reader and Criterion movie watcher. I would gladly purchase him anything and everything he wants, but not if it means I need to use Barnes and Noble. You need to fix yourselves. I am just so terribly disappointed in this entire transgression. It's just awful. What happened to you?

Having been a Barnes and Noble member for many years, I must admit that I am not happy with the new presentation that is happening in the stores. It is very difficult to find the new books. Their new presentation is by having the new books face out in the general area of the genre of the book. This is very frustrating. It was the way in which I would find a new author to try, now that is not happening.

I think it's really sad that you are using lady gaga and tony Bennett's duet of baby it's cold outside for your commercial and now it's unavailable for the public to listen to in utube and other sites. I won't be purchasing any books from your chain of stores

Do not place order online, because They will just cancel the order with " unavailable item". If that is unavailable, why on the website with no notice on it. Very bad service. My order is for a gift, please image how angry I am. They may not care, I think.
