Aulani is a gorgeous resort situated on a lagoon that is fed into by the Pacific ocean. It is clean and well themed. The details are stunning. The spa is lovely. The spa pools are varied and relaxing. I enjoyed my facial and my husband enjoyed his massage very much. The dining options at the resort are plentiful. The pools and slides are very fun. I particularly enjoyed snorkeling in the rainbow reef and stand up paddleboarding in the lagoon. I highly recommend a visit to this resort if it is within your budget.

Stayed here for 5 nights with my wife and daughter. When we left, another family sharing our shuttle back to the airport had a little girl that was crying very hard because they were leaving. I had put on my strong dad face but internally it was exactly how I felt. Love this place and hope to return in the future.
The resort is beyond beautiful. The rooms are spacious and accommodating in many ways. The only thing negative that I could find was the lack of allergy friendly food. We have members of our family with multiple food allergies and it is hard to find food even here at Aulani.
Didn't stay at the hotel. Went to the character breakfast buffet. The food was delicious. My daughter loved seeing Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. Make reservations. It's a little pricy for a brunch buffet, but the options are good and the entertainment for the kids is awesome.
Disney has always delivered the BEST service, no matter where I encounter them, whether it's at one of the parks, shops, or Aulani. Rooms are clean and spacious and comfortable. Food choices are numerous and always delicious. Cast members are always impeccable in their appearance, attitude, and service. Love staying at Aulani!
Family was looking forward to staying at Disney property in Hawaii as we have been regular guests at Disneyworld properties for the past decade. The pool area was great with an awesome lazy river. Room was good sized with decent amenities, however, the beds were hard and the safe was small. View from the room was great and we tried to be up in the room around sunset everyday since the sunset view was spectacular. The service at the hotel was good but I did not feel that they strove for the same magical experience which I was accustomed to in Orlando. Beach was nice. The water in the lagoon is very mild which is probably good for younger guests but, in my opinion, a bit boring for older guests. The traffic to get to/from the Ko Olina (Aulani location) is awful during the week. It took well over an hour to go about 10 miles toward Honolulu Airport then, luckily, there was a commuter/express lane which took us the rest of the way to the airport with minimal delays. Kapolei is close by with shopping (Target) and restaurants but traffic caused this to be 30-45 minutes each way. There are some restaurants and shopping within walking distance but the choices are limited. Aulani was the most expensive stay per night during our Hawaii vacation but I feel that it did not justify the value. I cannot strongly recommend due to the location/traffic and high price point. However, I do recommend this resort for families with young children (10 and under) since I believe that the resort is best suited to this demographic.
Great pools, great staff...horrible lines, expensive food and just tooo busy. The beach is setup like a plastic aquarium. We just spent way too much money for very little. Our room was great but at $6k for 5 days...we could have done better. They have daycare available for Annie's House but lines are miserable, sign up for classes is way too hard, lines to get into classes and activities are ridiculous. We just think DISNEY is all about LINES, LINES and MORE LINES. The drinks were watered down and the restauratnt way too expensive. We aren't going back.
I stayed at the Aulani for one week as a DVC memeber. Food is overpriced and not worth it. The pools are ok, but the lazy river is great. Rooms are small. I stayed in a deluxe studio that had one queen bed and a pull out couch. I asked for a rolla away and they offered a blow up mattress. They don't have rolla ways from what I was told. The ocean view room is not exactly ocean view. It was of construction and lawn. Ocean was a distance. The pool view room is better. I switched room mid stay. I did encounter lipstick stained drinking glasses in our 1st room and requested new ones, but was met with paper cups. I suggest staying for Max two nights just for the experience of the pool and characters. I didn't feel the Disney touch like I've felt at the Disney Grand Californian in Los Angeles. I'm disappointed.
We visited for the character dining and the food was fantastic, but be warned you won't see too many characters and it's pretty limited as to who you'll see. We considered staying but decided to stay in Waikiki instead so we could see more of the island of Oahu. If you can find this place on one of the limited special pricing promos, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, this is the kind of place I'd only spring for if it was a very special occasion or milestone and all you want to do is lounge around rather than go on excursions or other tourist activities. Obv that's my opinion, but if I paid that much for a hotel I sure wouldn't leave it and would take advantage of all the amenities. The facilities are beautiful and modern and staff was very helpful from the valets to the restaurant staff. The surrounding areas in Ko Olina are equally stunning as well.
You re already paying the exuberant prices for Disney, this includes the over priced mediocre food, and almost double for anything in the gift shop, you would expect some honesty would come from the staff. We were there for a week, and throughout the entirety of our stay, things would go missing from our room. I checked into lost and found everyday, none of the items were retrieved. It was very obvious they were taken from the staff whom entered our room. And, the employee with sticky fingers made sure to take my moms North Face jacket, my kids brand name swim trunks, my Tory Burch sandals and my Burberry jacket. In addition to paying almost double as I would anywhere else to stay at a Disney resort, I also have to pay to replace my stolen items. I spoke with management, and they kept referring me to manager after manager. We checked out on the 8th of March, and I m still awaiting for HR to call me back in regards to our claims. Great resort for the kids, but beware of your items, you re taking a gamble with them by staying here.
We stopped for a great time at the beach and dinner. We went to Ama ama and found they validate for 4 hours with the meal. What a great not rushed experience. Thank you Sera for the great service!
This is a full package deal. There is a hotel, entertainment, and food all on one facility. If you're interested in food and entertainment options outside the facility, there are plenty of restaurants well within walking distance of the resort. The rooms are also nice and roomy, and incredibly high quality. If you're into resorts, this place is the cream of the crop. However, if you aren't, this place distracts from authentic Hawaiian food and culture that could be seen on other islands or other parts of the island.
Wow! Best of the DVC resorts !!! We will definitely be back. Food and drinks are a little pricey but there is a resort area with several different restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. There is a shuttle that runs to the golf course and the Marriott.
Room was ok for the price and the hotel needs more daily activities. The pool and lazy river where awesome and the beach was pristine. Great Disney property.
Off to a rocky start but overall it's been nice. It's expensive but not outrageous. Family of four should expect a few hundred dollars a day if you dine at the restaurants but it's a lovely meal. It's quality but not the blow-me-away quality I would expect from Disney
We spent our honeymoon there and booked months in advance. Being Disney passholders, we had certain expectations and also knew there would be a lot of kids. Arrival and check in was easy. We were greeted with leis and our room was ready. We asked for an upgrade but the hotel was booked 95%, so we kept our partial ocean view room. The room was just as expected, with a great view on the ninth floor of the north side of the Ko'Olani resort area. The only room issue we had was the shower was hard to turn off (it would drip...) and a call to maintenance seemed to fix it. Housekeeping cleaned our room later in the days usually, but we were also at the end of the hall. The resort is beautiful and is very Disney. Even the elevator music was cool. It was Disney songs sung in Hawaiian. We had no issues getting dinner at any of the restaurants but we also ate off property across the street as well. The resort is definitely geared for families, but there are also adult only pools and hot tubs. One issue we had was with the off property booking of tours and events. We were given a different impression for the Pearl Harbor Memorial tour and were very dissatisfied with that. We ended getting half off on the tour, returned to us. Also, the Paradise Cove Luau was not really that good. Too many bugs.. Bugs everywhere. They know it and have bug zappers all over the property. Go to the one at the Polynesian Cultural Center instead. We also had a couples day at the spa, which was totally awesome. Once you book a procedure, you have full access to the spa for the day of the procedure. Totally worth it. Yes, things are expensive there, but everything is in Hawaii and especially at Disney, but the food there was good. We also had a daily meal plan at the Ulu Ulu Cafe and it was a good deal.
We walked through the resort property after a large buffet breakfast and the property was large enough that we were no longer uncomfortably full when we were done. The entire center of the resort features a pool with a lazy river. Lots of fun for the kids. We hope to stay here again soon.
As it is a hotel for members, I think that it is quite expensive when staying normally. However, as Disney operates, it has good service and security. It is recommended because you can see characters and have many activities.
This is a very nice, very well done Disney property. Unfortunately there prices are high and not just a little high but restaurants are easily a $40-50/person proposition. The water park is really fun and there's plenty of people here so it's not like they haven't found a market.
Adorable! I mean, it's a Disney resort and you can see it in every detail. The staff are friendly and helpful. We went to the character dinner and it was hands down the best experience! The food was good and the characters spent so much time at our table! Which was sweet given it was 3 adults and a baby. Would totally return!
Aulani is HUGE!!!! You can practically spend the whole day at the pool and spend a day at the beach the next. Staff is very friendly and food was excellent.
Aulani was a wonderful family experience, we stayed overnight for my son's third birthday and don't have a single complaint. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and CLEAN! The pools and water activities were all well maintained and clean as well, plus heated! There were dozens of lifeguards on duty at every time, which was comforting. We also attended two character experience meals, considering the food spread and the entertainment provided, it was worth every penny. We are so happy we got to experience Aulani during our time here on Oahu.
Disney definitely knows how to entertain and accommodate kids. Went to the character breakfast which was amazing for the kids (with great food). Also went to Ama Ama for dinner and the food and service was exceptional. Amazing location, snorkel and paddle board rentals on their lagoon was also fantastic. Will definitely be back soon!
Had reservations for the character breakfast. Made us wait an hour to be seated. Food WAY overpriced, isn't that good. Avoid unless you don't like your money.
There is a complete lack of respect for privacy and their policy concerning this is extremely disruptive and invasive. One example was when the person cleaning the windows came down on ropes in front of our balcony. I was shocked to see someone look in at eye level because we were on the 8th floor. A few hours later, someone entered our room (even though we had the occupied sign on the door) to give us written notice about the window cleaner. A note under the door (instead of entering our room) BEFORE they started the work would have sufficed. And, more importantly, although they do not clean the room during the stay, they enter the room multiple times a day, even with the "occupied" sign on the door. We were woken up from naps twice after a long boat excursion. And, a housekeeper began to enter the room when my husband was exiting the shower. I stopped her at the door and asked why she was there for the 3rd time that day. She pointed to her phone and said she needed to enter. Without my intervention, that could have been an uncomfortable situation for both my husband and that staff. My husband called and spoke with her supervisor. He said it is their policy to enter the rooms whenever and how often they want. He said they don't need a purpose and they do that with every room. We were not satisfied with that answer, especially since it is very disruptive for them to enter the room multiple times a day without a purpose (I.e. a leak, housekeeping, something!) We then went to the front desk to express our concern to management, but management refused to speak with us. The lady at the front was trained to be the "gate keeper" and listen. She said "95% of their guests liked to be checked on". It is hard to believe that 95% of the guests like to be woken from a deep nap after being on an excursion all day, or to have someone walk- in when they are walking out of the shower. Not only is this not good for guests, it is not good for their employees. The next day we asked to speak with the General Manager, and again, management refused to speak with us. We then spoke with a lower level supervisor that said they began checking all of the rooms because of the "Vegas Incident". This was a scary thought. Do they think someone is going to shoot people from the windows so they have to enter everyones room everyday, even when they have a "occupied" sign up? I don't know, but I hope not. What I do know is that we were very much looking forward to staying at Aulani for their amenities, however, we did not get to use the ones that were important to us because they were either not maintained or under maintenance. We also did not have a comfortable bed to sleep in, the room was dusty and not well kept, and we were disrupted by staff multiple times a day. Aulani charges a price similar to Marriott and Westin and in some ways are similar, but Aulani does not use the same quality beds, pillows, or appliances. Aulani has a policy to disrupt the guests, and management does not want feedback, which indicates they don't care what their guests think and they do not want to make an effort to improve. For these reasons, I give Aulani 1 star and will be staying at the Marriott or Westin next time.
We love it here! The staff is great and the room are awesome. We are DVC members so we don't get cleaning everyday. I do wish we at least got towels every other day. Other than that you have to be careful walking around the resort because the walkways get really wet. I actually slipped and feel over a month ago and still have bruises. We also caught a couple of kids that would have slipped.
