If you're looking to visit Oahu but are looking to avoid the hustle of Waikiki Aulani is a great choice. It has the Disney feel in terms of quality and hospitality, but not being attached to a theme park makes it a step up.

I've only been here a few nights so far but I can say that the service is definitely Disney quality. The resort itself may be underwhelming at first for seasoned Disney veterans but the beautiful location and the relaxing atmosphere should tip off any guest that this is a place you definitely sit around and do nothing all day and you love it.

very nice decor. we went for a buffet breakfast at the restaurant there. you can get a photo with mickey, minnie, and pluto, so its a fun experience for kids. customer service is great. food was good, but nothing special.

Great place to take the kids! Very clean, friendly, and beautiful! Many activities for the kiddos and a relaxing spa for the adults. Great place to stay on the high end. You will pay a lil more but I still highly recommend. Lagoon 1 is just a stroll away. We loved it!

This was the most magical experience of my life. I am a Disney park die hard and it was a must to visit this place. The lobby amazing. The staff, amazing. The hotel was gorgeous and gave Grand Californian vibes. Pools and hot tubs were great and food offerings were fantastic. I would want to go again with friends to cry at the beauty that is this hotel.

I rate Aulani 4-1/2 stars. The pool area is great for families, they have lovely adult only areas as well, the rooms are large and the beach/Bay is great for playing and swimming. It is across the street from Ko'olina shopping center which had an ABC store and a few eateries. That helps with the budget since prices at Aulani are typical for resorts (high). It would be great if they scheduled more options for kids ages 13+. Plenty for little kids to do, but not for older kids.

We spent time in Hawaii over Christmas break and had to stop in at Aulani resort to check it out. We were not disappointed; Disney does it right and keeps everything clean and their staff is ever so pleasant. We ate at the buffet, shopped in the stores and swam in the lagoon. If it was not for the high prices and availability of the rooms we would have stayed there. Keep up the good work and we will definitely be back again!

Greatly disrespected told something is in one place and it's not there being put aside and put aside and put aside for a room knowing that we both have handicaps I feel like we have been treated like second-class citizens because we have handicaps tell me you've changed the room and oh the next day we check or we can change it for you we didn't have that room that is just too much BS I hope to never have to stay here again and so does my wife

Fun place for the whole family. Lots of activities and has its own water park! Guaranteed the best experience for you, the kids, and the kids in you. The only downside is the cost, but I think it's worth it.

We loved our stay. The Disney resort proves it's excellence with their meticulous attention to perfecting details. Our room was clean and elegant. The food was delicious. The lazy river, water slides, and pool complex were unrivalled here in Oahu. It is a great getaway.

We are DVC members and we have stayed at many different Disney resorts. When comparing Aulani to those other Disney resorts, this gets 1 star. Most of the staff cannot answer questions and seem to care little about finding an answer for you. There are two beverage stations and both are on one side of the resort. In addition, neither is open 24 hours and only one provides coffee and it closes at 8 p.m. Considering the cost of points and travel time to get here one would be much better off using points to go to Europe because you can stay twice as long with less points.

We have a yearly tradition of eating at Makahiki. Whether we have a reservation or not, there is usually a wait time of 10 minutes or so.

Whether it was appetizers, entrees, or desserts, the serving trays, pans, and dishes were three-quarters to full of food. All were clearly labeled. Each station was staffed.

While there are some fusion dishes, there is also more traditional fare such as pizza and pasta.

There is also a separate kids' menu--the station is set lower, which should allow kids to serve themselves.

In the restaurant, the lighting is fine, however, out on the lanai at night, the lighting is rather low and some might have difficulty seeing.

Drink refills--water, soda, and even coffee--were prompt.

The most recent edition to the dining experience us the wandering Disney character. At the night we dined, the characters were Stitch (from Lilo & Stitch) and Chip (from Chip & Dale). They'll pose with guests for no fee.

The hotel is very clean and food quality is good. Kids just love the Disney experience and that is evident here.

Now for the not so good. For what we pay for the Disney experience and more importantly a 4 star experience, they don t seem to make any effort to correct issues which arise. Earlier in the year we attended a character dining session at another Disney property and one of the main characters was absent. As we went to the front desk for something else, they asked how our stay was and we shared our disappointment only for them to say well that s too bad. I was a little shocked by such a flip response.

At the Aulani, the Internet is just awful, barely useable which impacts those of use who have to do some work but also kids who want to stream before bedtime. Raising this to the front desk did nothing other than yield a were are sorry.

I m the one who is sorry. For what we are paying here they can provide stable and reliable internet access. Time for a break from Disney.

Great resort. The staff are freindly, helpful and efficient. Our refrigerator wasn't working right. They check it and then replaced it within a half hour. Quick and clean. The resort was crowded but what would expect for busy summer day. Great resort staff and clean facility and nice size rooms. I have no complaints about this place or any of Disney resorts and theme parks. I feel they put out the best product when it comes to vacation and relaxation.

We were there for thanksgiving week in a 2br villa that faced west toward the Ocean. It was absolutely amazing. The spa was one of the best I ve ever experienced. The amenities are out of this world. The hydrotherapy outdoor garden was a real treat. Yes the food and drink is pricey but it s Disney, and Hawaii. If you re going to be there any length of time hit up the ABC store across the street. Or Target 10 mins away to save $$$ on food. My kids loved the Disney characters. And I loved that it wasn t overwhelming Disney

Whether you have kids or not - or even like Disney or not - this resort has it all! So many food/restaurant choices; right on the beach with a lagoon all to yourself; big, comfortable rooms with kitchens; a luau unlike any other in Hawaii; multiple pools; a gym and spa...the list keeps going! My family and I stayed 8 days during Spring Break and it didn t feel overly crowded (I was afraid of that knowing it was peak season). The staff are extremely kind and willing to help in any way to make your vacation even more enjoyable. If you re a Disney lover or just a kid at heart, I highly recommend this resort!

Great pools and view. Food is not to bad we stayed in a two bedroom. Beds are ok, not the best I have sleep on. People are so pleasant and tins of to do at resort and around island. Will be back at some point.

For those who like Disney a little and want a special experience!
Love Disney? Hate? It does not matter.
It is the biggest attraction that you can always meet Aulani even if you can not easily meet characters in Tokyo.
The character often walks by the pool.
Spacious space like Hawaii.
There are plenty of events that can be enjoyed by the family, such as yoga and animation cel arts.
It is highly recommended for those who want to experience various things!
A drink refill when you arrive? Just buy
All you can drink for free!

Full disclosure: we did not stay overnight here. The prices are completely outrageous for that. The facility is very nice, the restaurants and bars are good (but pricey), and the staff is all wonderful. Come to walk around at night or during the day to get a feel for the place. Lots of kids but the adults seem to like it as well. You cannot purchase a day pass to enjoy the pools and beach amenities, but you do not need to be a guest to buy a meal, snack or enjoy an adult beverage. Save the roughly $700-$1200 a night and just visit. The beach itself is public and you can enjoy the water - just not the lounge chairs.

Went for character dinner. Buffet was pretty good. The characters come by the tables while you are eating. We felt like our table was being skipped by the characters. My youngest (5 yo) was standing in his chair waving his hands trying to get the characters to come to our table. Maybe how the tables are set they didn't see him or come. So, we complained to the staff and then the characters came by our tables and the kids got pictures.

There is a story that Uncle tells and gets the children involved. It was good except they ran out of props. My son was at the back and did not get anything to go along with the story.

For the money you pay for the character dinner, there should be enough props for all the kids and you should not have to flag someone down to come to the table.

It's Disney, but it's not. A lot of folks have mentioned that there's certain amenities you get from other Disney resorts that you don't have here. No super late room services and things shut down rather early. I do rather enjoy that they do have a lot to offer on property.

You can even walk across the street to a pretty decent restaurant and cafe place. The prices are Disney prices, but overall, the cost of things in Hawai'i is expensive so coming from Seattle, it wasn't much of a sticker shock.

The one weird thing here is that the cleaning staff will come in to clean even if you have the sign up on the door. We came in one night and found the garbage emptied and our bath mat was taken, but not replaced. Others noticed that and had to create a hand written sign that says DO NOT DISTURB. This is probably my biggest complaint here so far. The cleaning staff will ask you if they see you in the hallway if you want the room cleaned. But in most cases, I have never seen them come in and do partial cleaning and not replace anything. Even at WDW resorts the staff practically hunts you down to sign a waiver and/or leaves a VM on your room's phone letting you know.

The views are pretty stunning and with it being so close to the water it's pretty amazing. Obviously be prepared for the cost that comes with a Disney venture, but don't expect it to be a total Disney experience. The character dinning's are here and Mickey and Minnie do make random appearances. But if you're coming here thinking it will be like coming to WDW or WDL than you might be that much let down. But don't come here for that. Come for the beach, sand, and relaxation that the place does provide!

Disappointing. I love Disney but I don t expect to wait in Disneyworld lines to get a towel. Disney crammed WAY too many rooms and guests into this resort. It is not a relaxing Hawaiian resort. It is stressful and packed. The customer service is, with a few exceptions, terrible. The valets are rude. People were going down to the pool in the rain at 7 am to get a chair. I go to Disneyland and Disney World every year but I would never go back here. It just isn t worth it. There are many, many much nicer Hawaiian resorts to stay at.

Aulani is situated about 15 minutes from the Honolulu Airport and about 45 minutes from Waikiki (which has a good shopping area). Stayed in a very nice 1 bedroom suite. Came with kingsize bed, fold out sofa bed and a murphy bed in the tv cabinet. The Aulani has a great water park on-site with lazy river, 2 water slides, a kid's playground, very large pools and jacuzzis. What was nice that there is an adult-only pool and jacuzzi which is enforced to maintain a quieter atmosphere to enjoy (as opposed to be usually kid-filled park). There is a large private beach / lagoon which is protected from large waves by some large reef making the lagoon area quite placid and safe from heavy waves. There are snorkling and paddleboard rentals also available on-site for use on at the lagoon.

I give 5 stars for Beautiful views, beautiful amenities, however, staff is not your typical "make everything wonderful "Disney" staff, and behind on the times with technology. They don't even seem to adopt the easy going "Aloha", "hang loose" spirit of this lovely island.....maybe just a sign of the times :

Perfect spot for a family vacation if little kids are involved. Great beach with amazing snorkeling. Disney characters walking around bring smiles to kids faces. Very very expensive but also very nice.
