Nice room great location. The lobby smell like sewer
Our family of 19, aged 50ish to 4, made Drury in Sharonville our home base for a long weekend get together Father's Day weekend. The 4 suites we occupied were very clean and comfortable. The separation of the main sleeping are and the "living room" was well laid out and the sleeper sofa was reasonably comfortable (we put the kids...
Hotel is in the heart of the downtown and that s all about it. The hotel staff at reception were fine. But the doorman was terrible. It was a cold evening and my parents were in town for the first time. I had an unexpected situation come up and had to check out early. Although there were no other cars waiting to be parked, he never let the car be parked for more than a couple of minutes in front of the hotel. He also says this is my pavement or something similar to that and says my rules apply .
The doorman needs to warm and accommodating to make the guests feel welcome but the show put up last evening made a horrible impression to other customers as well. Bottom line - this is disgusting and not to be expected from a hotel in downtown Chicago.
Location is good, rooms were fine. Make sure to give yourself extra time if using the hotel valet.
Hotel was sub-par. First we got booked in a room that was way smaller than what it appeared online luckily the hotel staff was okay with upgrading us. Then when we got to the new room the AC did not work at all, which wouldn t have been a problem if it wasn t 80-90 degrees our entire stay. Our room was rarely cleaned too becuase staff would come at 9 am and wouldn t clean the room when we were in it but they would always say they would come back later and never did. We had to ask for new towels multiple times. Staff also never took the trash from our room and the garbage can was overflowing. The beds were only made once and I don t think the sheets were ever cleaned. We found 4 cockroaches in our room during our stay too. Overall unsatisfied with the stay only reason not giving 1 star was becuase of the room upgrade. Would not stay here again. Place was run down and not nice at all.
Location is great. Right in the heart of shopping and food. Easy access for walking and to public transit.
Nicely restored older landmark hotel. Great location on North Michigan Ave for sights, shopping, entertainment, dining and public transportation. We were on the 24th floor facing North with great views of the Water Tower and North Michigan. Lobby on 2nd floor is rather small so there is little space for informal gathering. Also could use better signage on first floor to point you to the lobby on 2nd (one small sign by only one of the elevators. One negative, it took a a few minutes (yes minutes) to get hot water for the shower due to the older plumbing and being on the 24th floor.
The room was a little small, but it was clean and nice. We had a few small problems, but they took care of them right away.
We stayed at the Allerton for one night after purchasing a Groupon. The room was small but clean. The rate is affordable for Michigan Avenue, but be prepared to pay for anything over the bare minimum. The rooms are small but clean, and have a tv but no mini fridge. The only parking option at the hotel is apparently valet parking, which was $60 for a single night! On top of that, the driver hung around over my shoulder waiting for a tip while I loaded my own bags into the car. The last time I checked, tips were an additional bonus, not a standard part of the fee, especially when the rates are already ridiculous.
Room nice, if small. Good rate. Really needs simple stuff like luggage rack in room & chilled water available (coffee only, really?)
My girlfriend rented a room two months in advance, the picture she was shown was much bigger than what was given to us, the best part of the room was the bathroom, plus you had to pay an extra $10 if you wanted to use the WI-FI, now everywhere I've been to stay, WI-FI is free even in low budget Motels, probably the only thing good for us was the doormen, I just wish we would have gotten what was in the picture, maybe that would have helped, totally disappointed, not even a pool to swim, we thought we were about to enjoy our forth or July, sorry to leave a review like this but I have no choice but to be perfectly honest about our experience at Warwick Allerton, this is a place I will not be staying again, 2 inches of room come on now..
Great price, clean room and hallways. Close to everything. Parking is expensive but there are garages close to use instead that are priced better.
Was very disappointed with the customer service here. My wedding is this month and we have about 10 rooms booked for family and friends. I was told that as the bride, I would be offered some sort of discount on a room for one night since we have so many rooms. I stopped by in person and also emailed back and forth with multiple employees, but was never offered anything other than a suite for the same rate as a suite on Expedia. I only needed a standard room for just me, for one night, and they could not offer any sort of discount or comped room. I also never heard back from either of the two employees I'd been emailing with.
Great location, good price, tiny room, and terrible elevator situation. That sums it up pretty good!
i love it here..my 2nd time here..plan to come back next year..friendly service..great, clean room
Nice location. Good staff. Wifi, breakfast available.
I'm a gold member of this hotel and it really doesn't mean anything, I had better service when I wasn't and they tried to "upgrade" me to another room which was extremely smaller and with one less bed. It was ridiculous and it was my first time with my baby. It was horrible ,plus people protesting outside made it such an unpleasent experience, my rooms were not what I paid for and were not ready until 6 . Yikes, really thinking about staying there again. May have to try another hotel
Small, but definitely well appointed rooms on the magnificent mile for a comparatively low price. Coffee, nice toiletries, comfy bedding that's all you need!
Good location next to Michigan avenue, affordable prices and convenient fitness center at 24th floor
Stayed over the weekend 2.24.18. Checkin was delayed until 9pm for unexplained reason.
$60/day for parking at an average hotel is ridiculous. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone.
The Warwick Allerton Hotel in Chicago has been the absolute worst hotel stay I have ever been to. Rudest staff I have ever dealt with.
The hotel is nice, but there were several logistical issues. First issue with this hotel is the service. Day of arrival not one person greeted us as we entered the hotel. The doorman didn't seem to be doing anything and didn't offer to open the doors. Front Desk Associate was horribly rude. We reserved 2 Queen bedrooms and Typically hotels have rooms ready early, but when we arrived around 10.30, they told us that they have one available room in 13th floor and one in 8th floor. We asked if we can have 2 rooms in the same floor and the Lady Was Super rude and rejected me and said, you came early and this is all we have now. When we got the first room in 13th floor and went to see it, The room was super small, with super low ceilings, and smelled like cigarette smoke and you can smell bleach everywhere. So we came back after 3 min and ask to have another room (WHCH WAS 8tH FLOOR) and she got upset and said sorry that room is not available anymore, so you have to wait till 4 pm. So we went out and come back around 3.30 and ask again and the same young blond lady with Heavy accent said; we still don't have rooms available. When I ask to talk to supervisors, she said (OH WAIT WE HAVE ONE AVAILABLE FOR YOU in 8TH Floor). So i'm super positive that room has been available since morning and she didn't want to give it to us because we said no to that small, smelly, dirty room in 13th floor. So that was not the end of the story. We got a room in 8th floor and The room was extremely SMALL and was a studio size room. You can't even walk in between the wall and the end of the bed. Distance between bed and wall is less than 4 inches. The heating did not work at all and the room was freezing. We wear a jacket for 2 days and when we called them, the technician came and just turned the AC off and he said (We don't have a heater in Warwick hotel, you should turn off the AC if you want your room to be warm. So the last 2 days we didn't have AC. We didn't have a fridge in our room and when i asked them, the housekeeping brought a small used fridge and plugged into the wall and left it in the middle of the room and he left. Safety box didn't work. So i had to call them to come and reprogram it for us. Our room was rarely cleaned too, becuase staff didn't clean our room for 3 days. We had to ask for new towels multiple times. Staff also never took the trash from our room and the garbage can was overflowing. The beds were only made once and I don t think the sheets were ever cleaned.
TERRIBLE customer service. Finally - on checkout day, 4 calls to the reception and Housekeeping and nobody answered my call. i tried 4 times each.
The ONLY person who was nice during our stay was the hotel concierge. All they offered me was a voucher for a breakfast for one day during my four days stay.
I would never stay here again. They don't even have free Wi-Fi($20/night).
Once again, my biggest problem was the staff, the front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. They do not tell you what your room has to offer, what they offer, what it is included. Which direction is your room. The front desk people all poorly represent the hotel. The staff made you feel like you were bothering them if you had a question. The staff is not trained to deal with customers properly, they are really unprofessional.
I highly DO NOT recommend! There are many other nicer, friendlier places to stay in downtown Chicago
Nice room but very small! No free WiFi was a bummer.
Nicely situated and reasonably priced. Room was bigger than expected (for city centre) and was very comfortable. Staff were really friendly, too
Cute little room in downtown Chicago (right on the Magnificent Mile).
I hate it when beds don't have sheets that actually fit the bed. Plus only have BIG quilts (and keep the temperature at 70 degrees).
Elevators are a little small, but the hotel is nice. A block away from the mall on michigan Ave. Lots to do.
Went to chicago for work-related function and was given a room at the Warwick Allerton. The room I was in was on the small side, especially compared to the nearby place I've stayed on previous work trips, but overall the room was comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good. The location is great - close to lots of food and drink options. The elevators were a bit of a pain, but signs nearby indicated that they were working on that. Overall, no major complaints and I wouldn't try to dissuade anyone from staying there.
Do not stay here. At least not St. Patrick's Day weekend. I booked and paid for two rooms two months before our stay through Expedia.
One of our rooms had not been cleaned (and included previously left canned goods, wet washcloths etc.). Housekeeping was gone for the night, so we were without a room. The whole city was booked so we ended up sleeping on the floor of our friends hotel room the first night.
We were also offered a 25% discount to check in late. We never received this discount, because I had paid ahead of time.
I had to spend an hour on the phone with Expedia fighting to get a refund for the room we didn't have the first night. The hotel didn't want to give the refund.
Bottom line; I slept on the floor of a hotel and all we got was a free breakfast. The only redemptive thing about our stay was Steven, the head of the valet. Very nice, wonderful service. Unfortunately he doesn't have anything to do with the rooms, housekeeping, or refunds.
Nice looking rooms, a little small for the price but nice looking. View is sub-par but I'm not here for a building view
Small and dirty, refused late checkout, BED BUGS. Might as well stay at a hostel and save yourself huge amount of money. Did not stay another night after bug scare!!
This is an old hotel. Don't expect new hotel amenities. It is a clean hotel with very comfortable beds and awesome staff. The windows are small but who really sits in their hotel room looking out windows? I had a great week in Chicago, this hotel is beautifully restored.
Good location, a bit too small rooms for the high price, good service
It was a very good experience. The service was great. I highly recommend staying there.
The Allerton is a very nice hotel. Some of the rooms and elevators can be quite small which means you may end up waiting a bit of time until you catch an elevator up or down. I would highly recommend a suite over a regular room considering the suite is essentially double the size in livable area and not much more in terms of price. The beds are comfy and the amenities are decent.
Fantastic hotel! Walking distance to everything. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. Will be back again soon
Our writers conference here had such light and beautiful meeting rooms. A real pleasure to experience.
What an interesting historical hotel! Wonderful staff. I will definitely be back!
Absolutely beautiful, nearly a century-old hotel in the heart of The Magnificent Mile. Reasonably priced, clean, cozy, and renovated rooms. Significantly delayed check-in due to the computer system crashing, and how the staff handled it, both threw me off. View from the south-facing windows is amazing.
Location is great. Price was better than expected for the location.
Tiny room. We had double room, got a single bed and so tiny it was horrible
Room was small, but very nice! Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice, even with how chaotic it was for the Festival of Lights. 2nd time staying there and we will book again for next year!
Pros: strategic location, affordable price.
Cons: Receptionist wasnt smiling and never said thank you. Room is very small, AC is very loud. You can easily hear sirens from the street. If you come here, make sure dont get the room in front of the elevetor if you dont wanna listen to the bell every 10 minutes.
Honestly the hotel was very disappointing. First impressions walking into lobby is always important to me. Lobby smelled like cigaret smoke as soon as i walked in. Rooms felt very dated and small. And they charged you for everything without telling you. We ended up paying almost a hundred extra doller's just for internet use while we where staying there which doubled our price because they unkownst to us charged us for internet use. Very poor hotel, was not impressed.
Beautiful 1920's hotel in the heart of downtown. Our room was clean and comfotable; the staff was friendly and helpful.
A good place to stay if you are on a holiday and need a place to rest your head...maintenance and room service did a good job...no complementary breakfast, high priced parking, a long time for the lift to get to our room were the downsides of this place..overall I would give a 3 out of 5 rating
Would stay again. Elevators were a pain. Might want to try breakfast elsewhere, not worth the price..great location
Great location and price was reasonable, however it was pretty dated and the bed was very uncomfortable. Loved the character of the place though and had a pretty nice view!
Well-kept and central hotel, only the rooms are very small and the windows are very noisy. Best to take hearing protection :)
If I could rate at 0, i would. Was supposed to have free parking. Parking was SIXTY dollars. We didn't even stay at the place and cancelled our reservation, our card was still charged. We were on business and looking for an in-expensive room, this was not it. On top of it they refused to refund us for a room we didn't even stay in. This place is an absolute joke!!!!!
Nice hotel inside a beautiful old building. Room was pleasant and clean. The bathroom was a bit cramped. They charge for wifi which seems like an antiquated practice nowadays.
Older hotel but moderned up nicely. They tried charging for internet.
Lots of character, nice rooms and central location in the city. Kind of loud though. Room on the 17th floor and still tons of traffic noise.
Location is perfect and the building has a certain charm! But now we come to the disadvantages: staff very unfriendly and not at all helpful. Room smaller than expected. Price performance ratio unfortunately not fair!
Excellent location, excellent staff and accommodations
Spacious rooms, very clean, and accommodating staff. I experienced no issues staying here, and it was at least 50 bucks cheaper than anything else on the mag mile!
Although many complain about the size of the rooms, and the slow elevators, I found that the charm of this hotel more than makes up for it's shortcomings, and I would place it among my favorite places to stay while in Chicago.
First, always ask for a Standard or King room if available. The standard room was small, but felt very cozy because of the upscale furnishings, well appointed finishes, and the 1920's vibe. I commented to my companion that the room felt like it was very attuned to the budget minded romantics, which it is well suited for. The king room, which I was upgraded to because of an issue with the in-room wi-fi, was amazing. Sumptous is the one word that sticks out to me to describe it, as the large bed was very comfortable, and the room's layout made it very easy to stretch out and relax.
The only downsides to this place I would say is the heating apparatus. Due to the age of the building (??), they use radiators to warm the rooms, which can be a long, lugubrious process that will make you think that the heat isn't working in the room, and the windows, while looking out on a great view of N. Michigan Ave, can be pretty drafty.
Other than that, it's a place that I won't soon forget, and hope to stay in again soon.
I thought my room would be a lot bigger than what it actually was, the bed was uncomfortable, and the bathroom was shaped weirdly but it has a good shower.
Great location, very friendly & helpful staff, good size room for the age of hotel & great price, would definitely stay again
Hotel very well located. You can walk to almost everywhere.
The breakfast is little varied and repetitive.
The breakfast staff is very helpful and friendly. The reception staff could improve.
The suite rooms are very correct but the standard rooms are a bit small.
The best, the location. It's perfect
The buffet breakfast has great service and ppl at like to serve
Really nice hotel in a great location. We chose to spend an extra day after the conference to take in Chicago.
The hotel is well kept even if a little dated. If you want ultra-modern look elsewhere.
Would enjoy staying here again.
