The room was ok. Staff was not very friendly and unprofessional. I also received an extra charge two days later. While on the phone trying to figure out what this was for I am sent to three different voicemails and no one seems to want to handle the situation.

I was hoping to stay in an elegant old hotel in downtown Chicago. I can see that the building has potential, but our whole experience was a disappointment from the start. We sat in line in our car at the curb by the front door for 30 minutes waiting for the Allerton valet parking and bellhop service. Just so you know the bellhop was a shiny, bright, sparkling young pony tailed man with a cheery disposition. He truly was a delight. The only delightful service person at the Allerton that day.
Once inside there was a line of 9 people waiting to check in. There were 3 people at the desk working. Only 2 of those people were trained on how to check guests in.
Once in our room we waited another 45 minutes to get our luggage. I am adding pictures of a hole in the white, fabric headboard. In the picture you can see the bare foam rubber peeking through where the headboard fabric once was. Also, see the picture of the grungy, gray carpet that was torn and pulled away from the bathroom threshold.
Next I have a picture of what they gave me for a bath towel. I have the bath towel on top of my 32 suitcase so that you can clearly see that this towel is really a bath mat and not a bath towel. For 2 guests we were given 2 small bath towels , no wash cloths and only one paper cup. We called the front desk to have more towels sent up...after 45 minutes we were actually given real bath towels.
Now get this; the Allerton added $120 a day to our credit card to cover any incidentals, but there is no room service and the mini bar is empty. I wonder what could be incidental if there isn t room service?
Finally we woke to a hotel workers strike complete with horns, kazoos and a drum. This racket rightfully went on all day. Evidently the Allerton doesn t provide healthcare benefits to it s employees. Thus the strike.
I only gave my Allerton Chicago review 2 stars because Mr. Ponytail was a joy and the location is convenient. Stay at a different property if you have a choice.

Perfect location, great price. Room was small but bed was super comfortable. It's an older hotel so it doesn't have as many amenities-like a pool- but for the location and price can't beat it.

It was a one night stay, so we barely were in the room except to sleep. The room was on the small side but it fit our budget. I will say the bed was surprisingly short, and I'm only 5'2", so that's saying something. The rooms were clean and had a vintage/modern vibe. Our room was facing Michigan Ave, so perfect location for our needs. Overall it was a great place to sleep and I'd chose it again.

The hotel rooms are very old and Very dark, size of the beds usually small and tv small as well .
The localization is perfect, just crowded traffic

There was a slight slip up with something I requested. Christopher Zarek, promised to take care of it and completely over delivered. This is my first stay here, but It will not be my last. This is my go to hotel now for my stays in Chicago. There are hundreds of choices on Michigan Avenue, but you can t beat the service. Thank you Christopher!

It is an old hotel, room not so nice, very small. If you, like me, always travel with large luggage, it will be difficult in the room to unfold the suitcase. The hotel bar is small but ok, the food is not very recommendable. It has a good, it is very centrally located, you are practically in the middle of the city

Great location. Rooms are small, but well worth the price. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Elevators were very slow and sometimes the buttons didn't work, but they are in the process of improving them.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience I ve ever had. I stayed 1 night!!! 1st it took them an hour to check me in 2nd they put me in a room that smells like urine and was completely dirty, I then complained to them and they put me in another dirty room and advised there were no other rooms available. 3rd they charged my card twice for one night. Just a total disaster!!! The location is nice.

Right on the Mag mile. Shopping right out the door and any kind of food you can imagine. Room was better than I had imagined and the staff was quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Our room was even ready early.

This is a very cool old hotel that has been well maintained over the years. Every staff member I met was wearing a smile and very helpful. My wife and I stayed on the 24th floor and enjoyed the view of the city. The hotel restaurant had good food and was no more expensive than any place else in Chicago with similar food.

Amazing hotel! Amazing staff! Historically very neat as well ask to go up to the tip top tap ballroom or the Frank Loyd Wright ballroom.... Avenue M lounge is also serving up decent food and drinks the breakfast buffet is a great meal too.... A server named Guadalupe was an absolutely wonderful and extremely friendly person and made our meal that much better!

The worst hotel I ever stayed in, bad service, bad staff attitude, high price for no service what so ever, no WiFi, and no coffee in room and they want to charge for what supposed to be complementary for guests. Charged me for a phone 15 dollars for a phone call that I didn't even get connected to. Very disappointing. Will not be coming back.

Staff is very friendly, the room was spacious and clean, the gym is really big and you can look over the city. The only drawback is that the Wi-Fi is subject to a charge and at some point you can see that the hotel is getting old.

Good morning! I had a problem related to a delivery at this hotel. I made a purchase to be delivered on October 2 until 10:30 in the morning. The company confirmed the delivery, but the product was not delivered to my friend who was staying at the hotel. I await action on the case. I paid overnight freight so that the delivery could be made on time and she could not receive the product. Where is this product ??? I await

Nice rooms, great housekeepers, very much enjoyed our stay and a great location. We had no problem getting around with easy access to cta trains and buses. Only negative is that there is a level 1 trauma center next door so you hear a lot of sirens, but it didnt keep us awake at night on the 7th floor and added to the "city noise" we country folk never hear.

The staff was friendly and polite, very helpful as well. We checked in late on a Sunday and were warmly greeted and even given an upgrade. The elevators were slow but we were warned and didn't mind. The room was beautifully decorated. We ordered room service and it arrived in no time and was very delicious. The hotel was in a great location that made it easy to get around with Uber and walking. We will definitely stay again.

Hotel is mostly clean and staff is friendly enough. When you first enter you need to use the elevator to go to the 2nd level to check in, which was a little confusing at first. Hotel elevators are being renovated right now so the wait time can be long. It is also very small and can only hold about 7 adults at once without luggage. House keeping does keep the room clean and bathroom tidy, but the rooms are small. Love the location of the hotel since it's on the magnificent mile and many bus stops are here.

The rooms were clean, Valet service was awesome! but the customer service was horrible... Ran into a lot of problems with the front desk attendants, they were very rude and Ghetto. Especially a guy named Andre who tried to argue with me because he couldn't explain to me why my sister was being charged twice for two rooms. Very frustrating and made the trip exhausting. Definitely will not be coming back here or suggesting that anyone else should.

Location was nice. Right in the middle I'd everything downtown. No refrigerator, no microwave, no wifi, no free breakfast. There is a bar and restaurant in hotel but is super expensive and not worth the money. Rooms are also very tiny. Was fooled by online pictures.

Location is great. Rooms are OK. However, without doubt some of the most obnoxious, unwelcoming and incompetent staff I have ever encountered. Having booked 4 rooms for a business trip, they have been consistently rude to everyone, I would never stay here again or recommend this hotel based on the service. Management should be ashamed.

We just checked-in and the Front Desk are very unfriendly. It took then 45mins just to check us in. Did not even explain what is going on. I asked if something is wrong with our booking, told us it s fine and they are just looking a room for us. Was not even apologetic about the wait but he instead justify that it does take a long time to check-in.

Mmmmm we travel every year and we NEVER waited that long for check-in!

I also noticed, other guests who came later we right away given key cards. They we all caucasians, we were the only Asians who checked in. And guess what, we were assigned to a handicapped room.

I wonder if what kind of training do these front desk staff have. They do not deserve to be in the Hospitality industry.
