Hotel Palomar Chicago - A Kimpton Hotel Review

Great location for a hotel in Chicago - walk to Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, restaurants & more. Suite we were in had one of the largest Jacuzzi tubs we've ever seen in a hotel room. Kimpton's evening wine reception is very nice, and the lobby/lounge area is a great place to relax. Best suited for couples and business travelers.

Drawbacks: Not a cheap place to stay, and parking is valet only and pricey as well (but both are standard for downtown Chicago).

Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. I went the this location for my boyfriends works holiday party, because he works at another Kimpton hotel and I fell in love. Like all of the Kimptons in Chicago the hotel has great vibes and wonderful decor. They have fruit water in the front lobby and a spacious lounge incase you're waiting for a ride or even just want to get out of the room and relax in comfort and style.

I've stayed here several times. The first time I visited was great and I had absolutely no complaints. The most recent visit wasn't as great as I had noisy neighbors and anytime anyone would talk in the hallways, it was very apparent. The doors are definitely not sound proof. That so far has been the only drawback. Otherwise, it's a good hotel in a great location.

Nice hotel, comfortable beds, great service, coffee in the lobby in the morning, wine in the evenings. Bathroom was too small for two people to get ready so knocking a star for that.

Nice rooms with good beds and very nice at the front desk. Pool has awesome view with terrace.

Booked this hotel for a staycation weekend. Even better than I expected! Friendly staff, super clean, and the furnishings in the room were even nicer than the preview photos online. We booked a spa room which has a huuuge jacuzzi tub, amazing! The pool is pretty small but swimming on the 17th floor is pretty cool. Also the room service and restaurant downstairs are delicious (if pricey), and you're within walking distance of every great restaurant and bar River North has to offer. If you're looking to treat yourself this is a great way to do it.

The room is very nice. The staff is great. The $62 a night parking was a surprise, but it seems to be the going rate.

This is a lovely hotel. Rooms are great. Free coffee in the morning on the patio and the wine at happy hour were a treat! Great donuts a block away which we brought back to the hotel patio- logistically, very helpful. It's in a great location. My kids (7&9) and I easily walked to Millennium Park. The pool was small, but they had fun. Cantina Laredo across the street was delicious. We will be back!

Hotel Palomar is very nicely appointed, and its location in the center of River North leaves little else to be desired.

Upscale boutique hotel for the business traveler. Great front desk service. Has all the basics covered, with additional options available upon request.

Cool rooms. Ok service. There was hot chocolate bar every afternoon during the wine hour. Great family location.

Nice hidden gem. Rooftop lounging area is very nice. Next to the pool, which was closed. it might have been nice to know that the pool was closed during the booking process... And it wasn't made known until check in.

We had an amazing stay, staff was nice and helpful, and the view from the room was beautiful. Pet friendly, swimming pool and bathtub was a big plus for me. The only downside was the room being too cold, without the possibility to crank it up, and without extra blankets/sheets. Will come again.

My boyfriend and I decided to stay here for our 2 year anniversary, based on the fact that they offer a deep soak tub in the room, and I was having trouble finding other hotels that offered something similar.
All in all it was a great experience. We spent most of our time in the city doing some sight seeing since my boyfriend had never done the whole chicago experience. But our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the bathtub was amazing, and I had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at their restaurant every morning. Our servers ( Roger, and unfortunately I didn't catch the other guys name) were attentive, but not hovering, and relatable. It was very easy to feel comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was great, the bathrooms are nice, the staff is very pleasant and accommodating, they have happy hours with free wine, there is a lounge at the front of the hotel that is very nice and also one directly outside the hotel. I also visited the bar which was very nice and cozy and the staff was awesome

This place is great! The staff is friendly, the bar has amazing drinks and the restaurant always has new interesting upscale dinning options. I highly recommend this establishment. Ben at the front desk was especially helpful and professional. Thanks!

Great location. Staff was super friendly. The drinks at the bar attached to the hotel were excellent and were better than lots of other places around the hotel. 2 min walk to shopping. Would definitely stay again.

We attended a fundraiser evening event. The discs was nice, staff was friendly, bar was nice. Had a few complaints. Bar tab out of assistant drinks 2 hours before they closed, good was rarely resupplied and there were no plates after an hour or so, then coat check line was long and they couldn't keep up with people. Great event space, but service was lacking in some spots

We reserved a block of rooms for our wedding last month, and we were very well looked after by the Kimpton Palomar during our stay there. They were helpful with our requests, and made sure to look after any of our extra requests along the way. Thank you again for being a part of our special weekend!

Stayed in a king spa and it was amazing. Tons of room. Modern atmosphere.

The rooms are very comfortable and they offer good service. The location is very good.

The bar staff are very professional. Patrick, my bartender, made an old fashion that set the new standard. I had a great time and the place wasn't noisy like some sports bar. If you want to play and still be grown up about it, this is the place to go.

Kimpton hotels are all quirky and eclectic. There are no two that are alike. The Chicago Palomar is no exception. It is easy walking distance to the main sites of Chicago. Here is a view from the area.

Fantastic location. The room was nice, the bathroom was small and only fit one person to get ready. The bed was ok, but the comforter had a large yellow stain that was covered up with a sheet. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Would stay here again, especially booking through Hotwire like this time.

Really cool and funky place. Only stayed for 10 hours but I felt the vibe.

This place is crazy loud because it's close to the Grand red stop and a bunch of bars.

Classy joint, but lack of a coffeemaker in the room and housekeeping knocking on my door before 9AM are showstoppers.

I was at the Palomar for rsna. Our company always comes here every year and will continue to do so. The location is great and the staff is always friendly and helpful. My room was immaculate and everything was stocked. No complaints.

Room was clean, staff was friendly. However, arrival was extremely chaotic. There is no indication that there is currently no valet service, and there is no direction as to where to self-park your vehicle- which is very stressful in the city. Additionally, the shower took over ten minutes to start running warm! Was told that in the future I need to run the bathtub and the sink simultaneously on hot for a few minutes until warm, which I found to be strange. I will say the hotel was very clean and the location was awesome!

This is a very nice hotel with very helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and well-appointed. Centrally located in River North, so it is easy to get anywhere in the city in a short period of time. would stay at this hotel again.

Has a lot of potential. We chose to spend more for a pace with a washer and dryer to pack lighter. The dryer didn't work. Reported Monday but didn't seem to be a priority. Never fixed. Also since we were only staying a week we paid a weeks parking b were told only longer staying guests were given key fans to get in and out of garage which made it really inconvenient. So just felt like we were third rate guests.

First and only hotel we've been in for Chicago. The service is great, and location is amazing. The room is massive and beautiful. The gym is pretty good for a hotel gym. The food served is very good and if I were to return to Chicago, this would be the hotel. It's surrounded by nearby restaurants all over the place that are amazing and it's a short cab ride to many museums like the Art Institute of Chicago and other things.

I just made a reservation for my next stay at the Palomar. It happens to be my 70th birthday & I wanted a lovely room. We have been there many times & , to be honest, it s a grab bag. So I spoke with Mamadou at the front desk & explained my wish to get an esthetic updated room (not multiple rooms by preference) & he was so accommodating. If a city I'm going to has a Palomar then I stay there. It's my favorite hotel by far.

Service was good, easy to get to, find parking anytime overall very nice.

Check in was great. Everyone was very nice and went out of their way to welcome us. Even though it wasn't his job Mark brought our bags up to our room and wouldn't take a tip.

Expensive hotel but that's pretty standard seems like. Very friendly and helpful staff. Awesome wine hour 5-6pm with an appetizer for guests. WiFi was good and rooms were clean. Also, an excellent location near the train and buses and great restaurants.

Love Kimpton hotels and this one did not disappoint. Friendly and professional staff. Start off with the valet welcoming us as though we were old friends. Next, we meet up with the desk clerk and she was super friendly and totally excited for why we were visiting Chicago.
Our room was wonderful. Great style, very spacious and awesome floor to ceiling windows.
Location is great too. We were a short walk or Uber ride from where we wanted to go.
Will definitely stay here again!

Fantastic hotel. Service was great, room was big. We ate at the restaurant / bar on the first floor and really enjoyed the vibe there. The seating area off the lobby was a nice spot to grab some coffee in the morning and the patio area out front looked inviting, on days with more mild weather. Look fwd to coming back.

Very rude and aggressive valet staff. They don t how to treat people. They blocked the driveway and saying bad words to other drivers. Fire the f king all valet guys and hire the new staff.

A very classy hotel. I was given an upgraded room as an IHG member and I was very pleased. Very spacious and the bathroom was my favourite room. A very well equipped gym and in fact everything was classy. Staff was very helpful and very kind. I truly enjoyed my stay.

Not a bad hotel, but I'm not sure there's the delivery on the price. Everything is fairly maintained, amenities are middle of the road. The cleanliness is something that can be improved on greatly. Probably the high point about this hotel is the friendliness of the front desk. All in all, I wouldn't pay this much to stay here again.

I walked past the hotel but asked of the hotel rates from Kimpton Hotel Palomar Chicago hotel clerk. I have yet to stay at this hotel. Maybe I will stay at this hotel in the near future or maybe in the next ten years.

Very nice hotel, very friendly. Only thing that was disappointing was the pool. It was only 3' deep.

Well, let me start with the free wine and hot cider hour at 5pm everyday. It's in their "living room" where the kids drink hot cider/ chocolate, and the adults drink red or white wine from CA. The gym is nice on the top floor next to the swimming pool. Great hotel for families and leisure.

Nice little hotel located in the heart of River North. Perfect location in the middle of everything happenin'! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Checked in during happy hour around 5PM and they had free wine for all guests, great perk! The rooms are very clean and nice, a bit on the smaller side but just perfect for a night or two get away.

Great service. Needs more ice machines, fridge space and maybe a microwave would be perfect.

The staff are exceptional. Very helpful with every need.

Bad service. Great food and only got one round of drinks wouldn't go there again
