Don't trust Sales guys from SSE. One of them knocked to our door last week, gave us great offer for switching, checked whether we are still in contract with current provider and gave us green light to switch. Told us few tricks how to get even more credit from his own company! And finished off saying if our current provider gives us better deal we are not to hesitate but take it.. what a good sales guy he was! Well 10 days later we got a final bill from our current provider with 200 exit fee as we were still in contract... Took us few hours and few phone calls to cancel the switch, gladly it all happened within 14 days as we would be in troubles!!! Sorry Airtricity but your sales representative discouraged us from switching ever again..
Dreadful attitude and service from this company. They cut my supply off despite me having paid my bill, apparently because I hadn't registered. They gave no notice at all. The person I spoke to about it couldn't have been less helpful and was totally condescending and rude. I had to pay a reinstatement fee and take an account with them despite not wanting to. Horrible experience,do not use this company
I have been with Airtricity for 12 years now and find them very easy to deal with. The website is probably the best and most efficient I have seen. Looking forward to another 12 more years.
bills quite high and poor service, specially the boiler service. I've received no comunication for more than 3 weeks after they came home and changed 2 parts of the boiler and suddenly the safety valve started dropping water continously drop by drop
What I can say, all other comments explains this company's overall score, wasn't thinking to write a review, well here we go. I had worse customer service experience and agents has no knowledge of product, only think they told of is answering call, my second call I had one agent who learn to push back instead of getting angry and not being rude, he deserve two stars, I ask them to explain me charges they have no knowledge of it, ask to talk manager team leader or supervisor, no joy either, now I have brandnew boiler economy led bulbs and my house is well insulated, they looking 30% more than what I spend last year same date range
My Boiler stopped working and I rang Sse Airtricity. Within the hour someone called me back and arranged to call. He was professional and helpful. Everything is sorted and He also did a service of the boiler. Fantastic service
There only interested in new customers. If your already a customer looking to sign up for another year you get a worse deal.
Terrible company. We sign up for -25% electricity and -20% gas deal. Ofcourse they put as on -10% for each. Also for some unknown reason they put us on day/night meter and lie to our face that this is ESB fault (do you understand that? ESB fault!). I took us 5 phone calls, to fix that (well, still not sure if we on right meter ATM), they said we call you back, the never bother did. The worst is that the customer service is lying all the time. Anyway, next day for unknown reason we got another bill and guess what? Ofcourse they are trying to charge us for the same period again! People keep away fro this company!
Despite ringing twice and emailing I'm still waiting for a reply as to why between SSE Airtricity and an post Smart Account I have not received any of my moneyback on the numerous bills I have paid as SSE Airtricity are a MoneyBack partner of an post smart account. Don't be fooled by so called offers unless your vigilant enough to keep chasing these companies when the offers don't actually get applied. It's poor service that when a customer tries to avail of these so called offers that they have to spend hours of their time to make sure that the offer actually gets applied correctly to their account as it has been advertised or even pushed on to them. This is a matter for the CCPC I'll update when I get a result from this matter and see does the consumer ever get listened to or have these so called offers upheld by the companies.
Terrible terrible service. Offered a discount by an agent of airtricity at the door. Signed up and the massive bills started. I rang to query this and was informed that all was in order and could be settling issues from my previous supplier.
The bills never got any cheaper so I again ran only to find out that the discount had never been applied. I was offered a credit on my account, but why would someone stay after they breached the contract. I decided to leave and the agent on the phone said I'd be in contract and would have to pay an early cancellation fee. After discussing this further they "generously" agreed to wave this fee.
Never have I dealt with such incompetence and I will not be signing up to their service again.
I also requested that they put me on the DO NOT CONTACT list which I was informed I had been. However, only today I had a representative call to the door. The incompetence goes on.
Their customer service is terrible, l'll be changing shortly

Absolute scammers. I will never use Airtricty again. They will rip you off and treat you like you're a 4 year old. I was paying a fixed amount for 3 years, then when I needed to amend the name on the bill, they forced me to create a new account, even though it's the same address and person who was paying the bill, and wouldn't transfer the usage information from the previous 3 years. They then estimated my new bill and decided that it's not 2x more than what I was paying yesterday. When I tried to amend this, the customer support was absolutely belittling and insulting. The worst customer support I've had in a long time. No understanding or empathy for the situation, not wanting to help whatsoever, constantly insisting they're right and I'm wrong, but wouldn't discuss how final bills are calculated and couldn't rush enough to try get out of discussion with me. These guys shouldn't run a bath never-mind a business.
COMPLETE SCAM ARTISTS......... DO NOT get drawn into these company's promises, sales, offers etc. It's all to take your money and deliver nothing at the end.
I preempted with the sales team before I signed up I had a old boiler and the Amazon climote probably not work. SSE Response " Its never happened before, its vary rare you should be totally fine"
Of course the installation then cannot go ahead due to it being an old boiler and I need to pay more money to avail of the deal, 70 to fix my boiler that is not broken in the first place. After I said it was going to happen but all reassurances from SSE to sign me up and get my money.
Its now August, I signed up in June. Its taken me that long to get answers from SSE or even to get a call back. I asked them to listen to the call back and see that I stated in the call, DO not sell me this if you think it will not work but went ahead anyway to take my money.
I am also out 1000 I paid to my old company to move over to SSE, which they couldn't care less. They get their money and I get nothing. None of the offers promised in the Sales call. Thats all it is, a sales call. Tell you lies to sign you up. All they had to do is absorb the 70 cost to rectify the problem, but expecting me to pay it even though I had preempted it was going to happen and still insisted on signing me up telling me it would be okay.
Their last excuse was, "we never said we would cover the cost if the system didn't work" Yes but you were happy to sell it to me and I knew it might not work, I said it a million times in the call to the sales guy. Even the installation guy said the same thing. They always sell systems to people knowing full well it wont work. Sounds like im not they only one.

I thought the budget plan was a good option for me as I wouldnt use that much electricity and gas , I was dead wrong , they overcharged me for months even though I sent in my meter readings each month , I was under the impression sending in meter readings was to just pay for what you use , not with SSE Airtricity , would never go with these again and definitely would recommend avoiding them for anyone thinking of using this supplier

I would recommend going with anyone else. One of the worst company's I've ever dealt with. I wanted to split a bill over two months as my meter hadn't been read in a year and no reply. Customer service is non existent.
I'm moving to electric Ireland for business and residential from today.
I've been onto trading standards about this shower .. Sent me an astronomical bill after Christmas.. I couldn't afford it so we came to an agreement 2 weeks into the agreement and they have rang me twice and text me harassing me threatening to cut me off if I don't pay more.. This should be illegal. Loan sharks wouldn't hound you as hard.. Disgusting excuse for company
I switch on this company in hope to save money.... In first 2 companys i pay almost double cheaper electricity... Avoid this company... I pay 700 euro more than year before this....

It took me 14 calls over 5 days to change my address after moving apartments. I got hung up on over 10 times (after waiting for approx. 10 minutes on hold each time). To their customer service employees who fail miserably time after time I can only say the following: If you do NOT enjoy your job or you do not wish to help clients, QUIT YOUR JOB.
sse sales operative called by offering and selling a switch to 2 premises but we only received notification for one property - so dont know the status of the other one
I was with this company for gas for about 5-6 years. No-one ever checked my meter and I do not recall any communication about reading it. From the start I could not send my reading online as it comprised 5 figures and there was only space for 4: my reading was 'invalid'. I emailed a reading and texted one. I closed my account by phone and a member of staff told me that they owed me 1000 euro.
A few months ago this changed and they sent me a bill for 6700 euro. Yes, your eyes are not faulty and I did not mistype. 6700. I queried this and they sent the meter away for testing. Now they have come back to tell me that the final meter reading was correct. I never doubted that. But they are insisting that the meter started at zero. So many years later, I have changed phones and emails and have no record of any readings I sent.
Although this reading is ludicrous and obviously faulty, they are pushing for full repayment. Believe it. It is true. It would appear that I have been heating the entire district (I only used the gas for heating and never during the summer). This is little less than grand theft.
I am preparing a website on this company and I'm grateful for anyone who'd like to tell me their story. In the meantime - it goes without saying - if you are thinking of Airtricity to provide your power - beware.
Spoke with two customer service agents and each was extremely helpful. Normally I find utility companies very frustrating to deal with but the experience with SSE this morning was excellent
Disgraceful customer service. Wait time on phone average 25 minutes and that's when you are a new customer, hate to think how they treat existing customers. Thanks be to god there is a 14 day cancellation period. Third call and 35 min wait, and they boast about saving energy!!! Not phone engery obviously. Needless to say after that treatment I have cancelled any service from them. They had the cheek then to call back and waffle on wasting more phone time just to see if I was sure I wanted to cancel. I have received better prices and service from another company . AVOID SSE AT ALL COSTS, poor staff it's not their fault
Airtricity agent who sold us the gas and electricity service never mentioned the cost of standing charge when saying their Budget Plan is the cheapest on the market. When I asked about the standing charge over the phone I was told that they don't set up the standing charge as it is set up by the government. This is simply not true as companies can still decide how much they charge and different providers charge differently. It took me at least 20 emails and calls to get some information form airtricity on how they calculated a fixed rate for my plan. It looks like on the Airtricity Budget Plan they simply charge everyone 140 even though they claim it's estimated based on your past individual usage.
For a start SSairtricity could honour their promises to new customers. When joining in March I was promised a free boiler service and hotel overnight stay. After numerous phone calls we did get our boiler serviced but still no joy with hotel stay, despite numerous phone calls and emails - not even the courtesy of a reply. Today a sales person at our door wanting us to join SSairtricity. Await comments from airtricity
Only with this company a few weeks and already leaving a very bad taste in my mouth.. can never get through to customer service..no Climote after 4 weeks waiting..1st bill very unusual.

I have tried to get in contact with the customer service by phone email and live chat to absolutely no avail!! I ve sent 3 emails and called so many times to either be left waiting on someone to answer or to get no email back! Very poor customer service all I want to know is when my contract end date is so I can move without a termination fee!! AVOID
I'm giving one star because google wont allow me to give less. This is a disgraceful company that doesn't care about people .they have horrible customer service, slow and completely inefficient. We closed the account but they still keep it open and keep stealing our money. Stay away from this horrible place, this company need to fail immediately instead of ruining the life of honest people.
Terrible. They disconnected my supply without contacting me after I had just moved into a new apartment. Was in the dark for 3 days over the weekend.
Customer service is terrible. Only worry about new customers. I have spent the entire day trying to get in contact with someone on the phone. I have contacted them on Facebook and on there webchat and the response I got was:

Very unhappy with the company and customer service. I live in a small apartment with my husband and we got a 700 Euro electricity bill for the past 2 months. So we sent over the meter readings for review, it came back 704 euro. At this stage it became a joke! ROBBERY!
don't trust these guys, I signed up for their budget plan after one of their agents told me that it could have helped me to save some money on my electricity bills but he didn't really explained how it worked...in the beigning I was paying very low amounts comparing to my actual usage so I built up a huge standing charge and I ended up overpaying for the last few months. When I contacted the costumer centre they told me that as I would repay the standing charge, the amount due for my bills would have decreased. Unfortunately, now I pay more or less for the electricy I use so this standing charge stays the same. it's money extortion, dont ever accept to sign up for their budget plan.
Gave me a discount. Then 2 months later increased the prices, effectively removing any discount that I've got. "they said 10% off electricity and gas rates", but they don't guarantee that they will keep the rate the same = super clever. BE CAREFUL with them. Also, their customer service is super slow, had to email them 3 times to get a reply. Their 200 euro offer is pretty good, BUT given that I am now overpaying around 10 euro per month, it is effectively 80 euro benefit (200 - 120 euro), which is a lot less than other offers on the market.
I agree with all other one star reviews and what they say. I've had to talk to them over 10 times since I've been with them, an average of about once every week. Apparently according to them I am irrational for not wanting to be charged balance I do not owe them though.
Addition: Once the initial problems were cleared (after a few months of calls, emails and chats) there were no real further problems. People were helpful and friendly when I was closing the account. I have since revised my review from 1 to 3 stars.
Horrible customer service. Charges do not make sense at all. It's a ripoff of all sorts. Their estimate charge for my house is based on its previous householder, however my life routine does not match at all these charges, and I have been paying a lot more than I ever paid in 8 years living in Dublin. They wouldn't even have the decency to check the meters periodically (I can't check it myself as only my landlord has access to it and he wouldn't be rushing to help me on this matter either). The only reason why I make use of this service is because ESB might be even worse. These companies do not care about their customers at all, as there are no competitors in this segment unfortunately.
Super expensive, also good at harrasing people - for 100 eu in debt there are at least 3 daily calls, emails, text messages.
Run away from this company as fast as you can.

Very dubious doorstep sales tactics. . I naively thought I was getting a great deal. 3 bills later I realised it was a huge mistake. Have now gone crawling back to my previous supplier.
An appalling company. No-one had come to read my meter for a period and I was unable to log onto their site to send in a reading, so they took the opportunity to over charge me by 600 on top of my regular bill for a 9 month period. At no point could they explain how they arrived at this figure. Avoid at all costs.
Airtricity refuses to refund my deposit back to my bank account. They have been manipulating the whole thing by telling me lies and after 4 chats with their agents, they told me that they will refund the deposit back as long as I give them a new meter reading and they will be able to give me my money after 10 working days. That answer was provided to me today after waiting already 20 days to get that money back! I just called at the customer service line and after waiting for 40 minutes to get an agent, she told me that I need to cancel my budget plan in order to get my refund. Something of course they didn't mention one year earlier when I was signing up as a new customer. I told her that I don't want to cancel my plan and she told me that then they cannot refund the money back to my bank account. I have uploaded the screenshots from my chats. I have only taken screenshots from 3 out of the 4 chats that I had with the customer service.
They are liars and manipulators and they will do anything to rip you off! If you are considering this company for electricity, please consider that you will only be charged more and more and they will try to treat you like you are stupid and you owe them!

Thief of a company. When I bought the new apartment they sent me 2 bills to close the account I had with them and after paying them I get a letter saying that I have credit on the account and can get a refund, apparently I only had to pay 1 of the bills but they sent me 2 for some reason. Then when I contacted "support" they asked me for the phone and email from the account and obviously I didn't have that since we just bought the place and the account was with the other landlord. And then instead of issuing a refund for the last payment they said they can't give me back the money unless I have the receipt. Apparently it is too hard to just reverse a transaction when they are the ones paying money to people but they will accept extra payment in a hearth beat. Disgusting, stay away from these thiefs if you value your money.
An update for that copy-paste response from the owner, I did contact the support as I said obviously you didn't even read what I said and just copy-pasted that reply cause it was a 1 star review, just goes to show what service to expect from this company. Thanks for proving my point there. Cheers.
Overcharged me, did not fulfill the terms of the contract and basically gaslit me to the point that I had to contact the ombudsman. My electricity bill was three times higher than my old provider.
It I could put half a star i would 22 Mins on Hold trying to speak to customer care in at Airtricity.
Absolute robbers. I could actually buy uranium and have a soviet era russian physicist build a reactor in my garden for the same price I pay this shower every week.
I was a customer of Airtricity for 6 years from 2013 and in May of this year I missed a payment for the first time. I had insufficient funds in my account but the bill was much higher than usual because they had been underestimating my bills for months. So after years of being a customer and my first ever bill payment missed. A member of their credit control rang me 7 days later and said Airtricity would be disconnecting my power if I didn't pay in full (this is against the codes of practice) and he would not offer a payment plan. They are a horrible company. I left to another provider because they left me no choice. But they added on an early termination fee and have employed debt collectors to retrieve it from me. They should have set up a payment plan!!
Instead of generic reply from your digital team, why don't you release the audio from the call your credit control bully made on May 16th?
Typical response, I've contacted airtricity enough times and nothing has been done. If you really care, search my name from your accounts and release the audio. I won't ring a company that has already tried to intimidate me and now has intrum trying to bully me on their behalf.

Only have 1850 contact numbers which serve no purpose and cost more to phone than a normal number.
Never paid such high bills for electricity in my life... They increase the monthly payments as they see fit and based on "estimations". Dear SSE, I don't believe an increase with 120% from one bill to the next is called "budget" planning... Stay away if you don't want to have a "budget" plan that will actually cost you 140 per month due to estimated readings and even when you submit the correct values and turns out you actually used 80+kWh less energy, they will still keep charging you for the next 4 months just for the craic (sorry because of their policy)... on the top of that even you are not happy with their service if you decide to switch due to the high electricity costs, they will charge you with 50 early termination fee. Stay away from them, better research first.

Dear SSE, I DID contacted your support on this matter prior writing my review. They have said that there is nothing they can do and I will have to pay my 140 for the next 4 months. I will repeat my previous statement that I have never paid such high electricity bill in my life. I don't want to switch plans or be your customer anymore. My contract will be up next month, so I will switch as soon as the 50 penalty is off.
So back to my initial advise to people that are looking to switch or a door-to-door rep knocks on your door with a "very good deal". Research first and read the fine print in the terms and conditions very carefully especially when "estimations" are involved not to turn in similar situations.

Shower of C**Ts is all this company are!!! Increases bills out of the blue to such an extent one time that was triple the normal billing amount with no explanation. And further more cuts off the supply of electricity to household even when paying off some of the bill!!! As for customer service!! People on phones are horrible.
I gave 1 star because there's no option for no star, The most obnoxious customer service I've ever dealt with along with Panda.when customer service are disrespectful to me then that company doesn't get 1cent off me so these companies really should cop on to this.
As a new company starting up they charged us over 50 in a building with 6 LED light bulbs for 2 weeks.
These guys are bandits. Estimated our bills and when corrected with actual readings, it took months and the regulator to get over a 1000 back off them. At work we've had similar problems, where they just blame Bord Gais and take no responsibility, but will continue to chase for over payments. Do not use this company

Pathetic customer support, agents don t know about the company offering and products. Turn around time for a query seems to be couple of weeks. I am chasing for my smart home bundle products for last 2 months and still don't have a clue when should i expect to get them.
Absolutely worst customer service of all the utilities providers, in my line of work I have used them all and SSE never cease to amaze me with their ineptness. I was amazed to see 5 star reviews, turns out these reviewers are employees of SSE, no bias there!
A disgraceful company with horrible customer service and very long wait times when you do have to phone them.
They also practice some very dubious business practices, which surely must border on illegal. I signed up for their 200 cash back offer and the amount is not added onto your account automatically. One has to chase them and chase them and chase them to honor their agreement. As soon as my current contract is over I will leave them and never return. I'll also tell anyone that will listen about their behavior.

First I have never been a customer of airticity but seeing the stress they have caused my family disgusting company to do business with. Threatened to cut power to brothers house with new born baby in it. And airticity was completely at fault for it to start of with. They made error with meter reading and expected full payment up front.

Horrible customer service, they take every opportunity to rip you off. I called several times to close an old account and open a new one at the new premises. I was told old account was closed but they kept charging me for it anyway for another month. Later they declared I had to pay even after I had asked repeatedly to close my old account. When opening a new account, they told me I would not be charged a switching fee or a termination fee, but when I finally closed the old account they charged me for a termination fee anyway.
Avoid if you can - they are inept and screw their customers over at every opportunity.
Avoid this company!!! Every time they sent me bill there are some problems. They try to overcharge me by calculating different unit cost that is in my contract or they charged me for replacement of meter they never replaced etc ect. Every single bill there is a problem. This time when they try to charge me for replacement of meter that they never replaced I challenged them and asked why they lie to me and try rob me they said oh this is mistake and in "Goodwill Gesture" (yes they used this exact words Goodwill Gesture) they will remove that 200euro from my bill. They try to charged me 200euro for something that never happened and when challenged they call it Goodwill Gesture. Please stay away from this company.
Genuinely horrific customer service and acknowledge that they overcharged only after serial probing.
