I hate that I have to even give it a star, it was my first time renting there and will never go back. as I was dropping off the my rental the young African American guy with the Mohawk was so rude to me. He had such a bad attitude just because I didn't have my contract on me. So un organized

I had my worst experience today with this location. I booked my car 3 weeks prior and when I got into the shuttle the driver said they are out of cars and asked me to come back tomorrow morning. They didn't even offered a ride to my place and they said to come back next day morning with no guarantee of giving me a car. I would never recommend this location to anyone.

Upon arrival I was charged for an upgrade that I didn't request because they didn't have my requested vehicle on hand, I was in a rush and didn't look at the agreement fully, when trying to fix this was told that I was SOL since I had already signed the agreement. When returning the car I had kept the rental contract for my records, the return custodian informed me that I had to hand it over and got indignant when i told him that I had already checked it in my luggage. I was then informed by the custodian that without the contract in the car while I was driving from the airport to the rental place I was committing auto theft and could be arrested. All in all things are handled very poorly and unprofessionally at this location.

Terrible experience. Arrived at the shuttle location at 11pm (30 min late), and the shuttle never arrived. We sat in the rain for an hour waiting and trying to reach the pick up office. They did not answer their phones, even though they claim to be open until Midnight. Had to rent from Avis (at 1am) as a last ditch effort to get to our hotel. The next morning, when we finally got through on the phone, the agent said that our rental reservation was cancelled and they no longer had any cars.

There is a reason why their rates are so cheap, do not waste your time with this horrible company.

Returned the vehicle to be rushed again asked to to allow an emailed receipt to find an additional $100 charges in additional driver fees. Customer service does not have the authority to dispute the charges or handle customer complaints.

The phone line is always giving a busy signal no matter what time of day you call. It's sometimes impossible to contact the office.
I also had to wait over 30 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up from the airport even though the place is only a 5 minute drive away.

I rented a car to go to my daughter's graduation from Air Force Basic Training in San Antonio. The counter was easy to find and so was the vehicle. The vehicle was nice and drove well. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and polite.

I am giving one star because I feel as if I was misled. The man at the counter asked if I wanted to add another driver, but did not disclose that "adding another driver" would cost me an additional $13.49 per day. I understand that had I read the very fine print that I probably would have seen the additional cost, but who reads all that? Nobody.

We made an online reservation. We were picked up at the airport and taken to the rental car lot. We were helped right away, everything was explained to us and we were on our way in minutes. There were no problems with the car but when we tried to fill it up with gas before returning it we couldn't. Due to hurricane Harvey there was a run on gas. We went to 7 or 8 gas stations and they were all out of gas. One had a line around the block and more. We took the car back and they let us have the pre-rental price on the gas. It was a premium but not gouging. We appreciated that. We settled our bill and got a ride back to the airport. A good experience.

We waited 20 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up from the airport. Once we got to the facility, their drinking fountain was broken. Asked them if they had any water and they said I could go buy some from the machine outside. The CSR told us which car we were in and it was parked right outside the door, which it was. When we tried to leave however, there was no attendant at the gate. When he finally got there he said we were in the wrong car and that we needed to go back inside and get it sorted out. We told him that this was the exact car we were told to get in and he went to speak to his supervisor. When he came back to the car he said we were good to go. When we asked where the confusion came from, he said the inside and outside staff don't communicate. While you may save a few dollars, the inconvience was not worth it.

Nov.6,2019 we've had reservations for 3 weeks, Advantage did not have a car for us. We were told they had a car at 7:30pm and 11:00pm but MANAGER wouldn't let us rent these returning vehicles???? DO NOT do business with ADVANTAGE!!!!!!! Large disappointment!Not impressed with front desk employee, needs to learn to work with the public.

Never EVER rent a car from this company. Wish I could give them zero stars. They are unscrupulous, deceitful and fraudulent. Charged us for supplemental insurance we adamantly declined at the time of rental. Our $190 rental became $454 and now we are fighting to get back $259 we were overcharged. Will be reporting them to BBB. We will NEVER rent from them again! Beware and stay away.

Run and don't walk! Horrible Service! Went on-line earlier and booked a rental car for three days thru Expedia for my daughter. The charge was $98.00 for a total of three days. We opted out of the "additional" insurance coverage because we didn't need it. Dropped my daughter off at the airport to pick up her rental. I drove back home, when I arrived my daughter called stated that they would charge her more for the additional coverage. I told her NO we don't need it we are covered, she then tells me that they want to see proof of our insurance!!!! I had to drive back to the airport, park in short term parking and get up to the Advantage Counter. Only to be greeted by an unprofessional women who had the nerve to take my insurance policy and enter it into their system. When I told her not to do that she said it was just there policy. Then proceed to tell us that there is a 250 mile limitation on the rental. Because Locals get charged additional mileage unless you are traveling into San Antonio then you don't have the limitation..... you get unlimited. Then she proceeded to tell me that many locals don't even return the cars and thats been a problem and Advantage Rent a Car is going to start making it very very hard to rent cars from them. I told her that when we booked this online it stated "unlimited mileage" and asked her "what other under hidden surprises do you have"??? She smirked as if all this was funny! After she asked us five different times about their insurance coverage and waiving it. I finally told her....do not ask us that again! We have full coverage and we don't want your coverage. When the deposit amount was presented ($200.00) I said "what choice do we have"! When I said that, she then said " you know what? I don't like your tone! And I'm not going to rent to you. So, she cancelled our rental. We walked to another counter and thank God there are still professionals. The young man greeted us, was calm and helped us immediately. Less than 10 minutes and we were good to go out the door! Less Deposit, No Requirement to see our Insurance Card, No Hassells about taking out their insurance coverage, No Limited Mileage, No crappy service. RUN don't walk.

Be aware of your charges before you walk away from the counter!! The Representative added the optional insurance after I had mentioned my insurance covers all rentals. He claim to have had it removed. However, when I reached my destination (1:15am tired and hungry) I reviewed the agreement and it reflected the optional insurance. I immediately contacted customer service and was directed to a pre recording to email my questions. I never received a response so I went back to the location and was informed by the manager that they gave me a special package that includes the insurance. I have been a loyal customer for many years and I ve never been offered the special package I called customer service and they claim that there is no special package but that I agreed to the optional coverage. I reminded them that I ve rented many cars from Advantage and not once did I elect the optional insurance. They apologized that I didn t read the 1 x3 screen that indicated my choices. I was informed that I signed a legal document and no refund was going to be considered and have a good day. Please read your agreement before you leave the counter even if you ready to pass out. They are predatory and dishonest. When we checked in at 11:00pm they asked if we wanted the additional insurance rider for our car. When I asked how much they said $22.99 for the entire rental. I asked again, are you sure that is the price for the entire rental, and she said yes. Guess what? Turns out, that was per DAY. I contacted their corporate headquarters, and they didn't care to help me out. Instead they sent me a copy of my agreement that I signed. I guess you should read the 14 pages of crap they put in front of you, or they will rip you off. BMT graduate parents, beware! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CROOKS.

The car was very basic and had a few scratches and a couple of seat stains, but it looked and smelled clean. For the price, I would definitely recommend Advantage.

The SUV I ordered wasn't available, but the team at Advantage San Antonio made sure I was happy and felt taken care of. They offered a discount and a trade on the second day for the car I ordered. Hector & Troy were both very kind and attentive... so much so that I asked their names for this review. Car rental places are notorious for trying to sell you more than you need. I didn't feel like I had been taken 'advantage' of. My situation wasn't ideal, but all happy enough in the end.

Advantage really out did themselves this time, I was extremely please with the efficiency of the customer service representative and the affordability of the vehicles. What stood out most was that my rental car printout I brought to the counter with the reflected online price that included massive discounts matched to the exact dollar in their computer database! There was no need to question or heckle any price differences. Good job Advantage!

I rented a car from 3/20/18 to 3/24/18 through Advantage Rent a Car - San Antonio Airport. I pre-booked my reservation online but, while picking up the rental car, an employee (Roger C.) asked if I would like pre-paid fuel, a $41.05 charge. I declined the pre-paid fuel option and returned the car full of gas. However, the pre-paid fuel charge was charged to my credit card on 3/24/18. On 3/28/18, I called the Advantage Rent a Car support service to get the charge removed but they said they were unable to remove the charge. I will not be using Advantage Rent a Car again.

I have constantly had positive experience with Advantage. This location was very easy and smooth to find. The overall reservation process was easy and stress-Free. I love the rewards they provide as soon as you pick up your rental. Highly recommend them.

Don't bother booking ahead of time you still have to wait in line for 2 hours with everyone ahead of you booking at the counter. And then on top of that I not only paid for it ahead of time but when I finally get to the counter the guy tells me he wants a deposit!!! Like really shouldn't that have been done at the same time I paid for the car!!!!!? Their Customer service is rude and could care less about the customers!!?

Verbally declined all additional services because my credit card and insurance cover that stuff. They slipped in paperwork for additional services with other paperwork I needed to sign. Ultimately, it is my fault for not reading what I was signing. Will never do business with this company again, and will never recommend to anyone.

I got a rental here very last minute. I was afraid it would be very expensive based on past experience, however, it was actually pretty cheap! Once I got there, the process was very quick and I was on my way in no time.

Keep in mind: if it's a local rental (you're not flying into San Antonio), you will need a credit card. If you're flying in and can show proof with a boarding pass, you can use a debit card. With credit, they also will charge a $200 deposit. My rental total was $98, and my card was charged $298. Make sure you have enough room on your credit card.

Disorganized, had appointment for rental yet car wasnt ready. The clerks were taking orders then running outside to wash and vaccum, then running back in to receive incoming vehicles. The vehicle was fine, however we were uncertain about its maintenance since it rolled in got cleaned and was delivered to us still wet from the car wash.

We got very good service from San Antonio Advantage. Unfortunately, I damaged the car and had to pay for that, but they made it very fast and easy to file the report. My wife wasn't crazy about the woman she dealt with when she signed the original contract, but no complaints apart from that.

Bad customer service! All my families flight were cancelled and I had to fly out by myself and my family the next day. I explained this to them... I rented the car stating that I was only driving one day ...then I wanted my husband to drive the rest of the time...I didn't want to pay for 2 drivers. Courtney said to come back the next day with his license and it wouldn't be a problem. We want back the next afternoon and they wanted to charge for 2 drivers and said there was nothing they could do. He gave my the phone number supposedly of Desmond (the manager) It was the main number to rent a car in the US...not the managers number. Needless to say, I had to drive the car for the entire time. I WILL NEVER RENT A CAR FROM THEM AGAIN!

Word to the wise beware...Advantage Rent a Car at San Anttonio Tx Airport charges an upcharge when they are out of requested car and won't tell you at initial purchase! A family member reserved a economy car on-line @ ADVANTAGE Rent a Car but they didn't have any available. The agent, Roger didn't advise her of it & they charged an upcharge for the request. She called the 1-800 number & went to desk (no one was available ) & they didn't check it out nor attempt to resolve the issues. $$150+ extra isn't cheap nor right for a switch which was done by Roger thier agent @ San Antonio TX Airport. Renters be aware of switch.

Our experience with Advantage Car Rental In San Antonio, TX was excellent. We booked the rental through AARP Travel. The price was affordable, Our receipt was emailed and accurate. The staff, Ivory, who did the paperwork as well as James who assigned the car was friendly and courteous. Our assigned car had good gas mileage and the return was easy. I would use Advantage again.

Very frustrating experience. The shuttle ride was the only pleasant experience we had. The desk attendant was rude and upgraded (and upcharged us!) When we only asked how much an upgrade would be, then refused to take it back to our original reservation. We were hit with $300 worth of unexpected fees plus the upcharge. When we got the car it was all very nice, except it needed an oil change and had no windshield wiper fluid. I will never use advantage again.

The people working there are caring, knowledgeable individuals. They are not a "sign the paper and here's your car keys and get out of my face" kind of place like a lot of the other companies I have rented from in the past. They rented me a stolen car out of San Antonio. We were detained and humiliated at a check point on the way back from South Padre and pulled over in port Isabel where 3 police cars pulled up behind us because the license plate came back stolen. I asked for a partial refund, nothing ever happened, Deshawn the local San Antonio manager promised me the moon but here we are after numerous phone calls and two months later nothing has happened. I would never rent from these guys again. Renting stolen cars!?!? I will be reporting this to the BBB and their corporate office. Stay away unless you re into driving stolen cars.
