Great roof top bar. Housekeeping seems to get comfortable and not do such a great job after cleaning your rooms for a few days, so if you're staying longer than that only expect the beds to be made. Front desk a little unhelpful and kinda rude. It is in a great location, with the mall and restaurants being within a mile. Which is good because parking is ridiculous. $45 per day. We just fed the meter every 2 hours and took cabs whenever we found a good spot.

The rooms were nice and the service was great, however the bathroom was a little weird since the entrance to the shower wasn't covered. It allowed water to splash outside on the floors of the bathroom. This is a tiny nitpick though because the guests won't have to clean it. Overall great stay.

A friend of mine stayed at this fine Hotel in February 2017. I had arrived in San Diego from Canada only to find that my bags were lost. I found the staff to be very helpful and concerned. My bags arrived to the Hotel c/o the Air carrier and they advised the Air Carrier to quickly proceed over to the ship dock before I sailed off on my 30 day cruise. Upon my return, I was in touch with Shawn from the Renaissance regarding his recollection of the incident along with copies of my invoice. He was very accomodation and extremely helpful. My stay there was a memerable one as the service was outstanding! I would highly recommend the staff there and especially Sean!!

We had a great time staying in this Hotel. Staff are super friendly and exceptional service. Great location close to dining, entertainment and shopping. Definitely would go back again and again.

This is 1 of the nicer hotels in the heart of Downtown San Diego.. Staff is very professional and corteous.. this Establishment is overly clean at all times and because it is newly remodeled, makes it sparkling.. Great Hotel for any occasion, moreover especially for a overnight stay..

The whole staff where amazing. Extra shout out to The Food and Beverage Manager John and his team. They did everything they could to make our stay with the kids as pleasant as possible. We would definitely go back again.

This place has a sleek modern design that allows for a very nice aesthetic experience. Parking for the hotel is really non existent unless you do valet or park someone that requires a bit of walking and payment.

Second AC hotel in the US that I've stayed in, very nice. Great location in downtown San Diego, nice club lounge on the second floor. Gym, great lobby bar area and all the amenities that you expect from a Marriott property.

We got an upgrade because they didn't have the room we had booked. The bed was awesome, but the rest of it wasn't any better than the Motel 6 we usually stay at. Free Wi-Fi (for Marriott members) was almost impossible to access & was sporadic when we finally did. (We didn't get any instructions upon check-in, and had to go downstairs 3 times for very mediocre assistance at the front desk.) They double-charged my card upon check-in, and it took almost a week to clear that up. The valets were friendly and helpful (should be for $47/night), and the bellman was wonderful.
We won't be staying here again, even if the company is paying.

I attended the SMOKEOUT event. I thought they enjoyed everything about the; the food, drinks, the venue and the atmosphere. The entertainment was great! All for a very reasonable admission fee. I would definitely attend another event at the Hotel Republic.

BEWARE! I called them to ask if I could cancel my reservation 2 days ahead of my stay because my son fell sick. They said no, their response to me is even if you had a death in the family you would not get a refund. They have the ability to rebook that room and give me a courtesy refund given the circumstances. They really don t care about anything but taking your money. Great welcome for the hospitality industry.

I was at the hotel for a convention for chiropractors, and we rented a couple rooms for the weekend. Its a beautiful hotel, friendly staff, but slow service. It took all night until the next afternoon, including 3 calls to get an extra blanket for my son, but all in all its great!

This was our second time here at the Republic. The staff members are always great. The check in rep (Gia) was as nice and helpful as can be. The room was comfortable and nice. There's a very comfy yet upscale feel about the entire hotel. We did brunch on the top at the terrace bar. Food was really good. It was a Sunday and they had a young lady singing covers with her guitar. We really enjoyed it. Overall...a wonderful experience (both times). This is actually now our hotel of choice for future stays in San Diego. Thank you.

Elevator situation was complicated, as wheelchair user, I was meeting with a business group on the Top Side but Hotel did not have an elevator to that level so I was taken up the freight elevator. ADA Non Compliant.

Great location down town. It is about a 10 min cab ride from the airport and the zoo. Close cab ride to great restaurants. The service was great. Friendly people and the car service people are great and willing to call a cab for you. Room was perfect. Very clean and modern looking. Can't wait to go back!

This hotel is HORRIBLE. They are undergoing reconstruction and did not warn me and other guests in advance. A TERRIBLE example of what Marriott brand hotels are known for. The company should be ashamed for putting paying guests through such a bad experience. Also, they do NOT have a fitness center onsite even though their website indicates otherwise. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. An absolute mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME hotel, great staff, great modern contemporary rooms. The only thing that stops this place from getting 5 stars is the $47 valet parking only. I mean seriously. Yes, I was expecting expensive parking in downtown San Diego, but this is nearly DOUBLE anywhere else! Other reviewers may call it a caveat, I call it price gouging. $47 a day is what you must pay to park and stay at this hotel. Yes, it has in and out privileges, but who stays in downtown to drive? Kind of a shame. Great place, but takes shameless advantage of its so called parking.

First of all, $45/night for parking. The service was great and everyone was very pleasant, but it's way over priced for a mediocre room with few amenities. No refrigerator, have to pay for WiFi, etc. What it comes down to is you can get comparable service and better features at a La Quinta or Best Western and pay a lot less money. Overall... meh.

Warning! They still have photos of a pool associated with their location despite not actually having one. The only amenity they could offer was a one way trip to the ocean? Not cool. Don t appreciate false advertising and won t be returning here.

Great location. We've been in and out and each time we are greeted and welcomed. The hotel restaurants are wonderful. The rooms are comfortable. Great after a day of walking San Diego. Naps are great!

Positioned in downtown San Diego, this hotel is just a short walk away from places like Horton Plaza, the Gaslamp District and the south bay area. The hotel is very botique, very modern. Everything you'd expect from a signature hotel. The staff was friendly, the valet attendants were especially nice. The food on the terrace was delicious, we had brunch. Overall it was a good experience. We just didn't experience the magic of staying overnight like we did at the Pulse in SD or at the Marriott Petco Park.

Great hotel, with a small well equipped gym but their staff is not always at the front desk and the same for their bar. No sign when the bar closes and the glasses are just left there after they close whenever that is.

No coffee anywhere in this building until 8am, which is absurd. I gave it time and went downstairs at 8:20 and had to wait 5-6 minutes. I tried to order a breakfast sandwich and they were already sold out, so I had an incredibly overpriced, smooshed croissant. I wanted to write a note about this and my room doesn t even have a pen and notepad anywhere.
I usually prefer Autograph Collection hotels for their boutique feels, but I d rather keep to the suburban properties that are easier to get in and out of at this time than a well-decorated hotel with nothing on site. Room was stylish but tired looking (pilling on upholstery, chipped walls and furniture, bedside outlet that didn t work) and the restaurant/bar is closed most of the week.
If you can get a great price, it is fine, but as a business traveler I don t have time for this.

I had a challenging family issue at the last minute and after reaching out to the hotel directly was able to get it resolved. Hope to stay with them soon and appreciate the customer service via email.

There hotel is opened by Marriott but operates like a really nice boutique hotel. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. One downside is parking. $48 a night. Other than that, the location is perfect for going on during the day or at night. I definitely recommend staying here. The concierge is also very helpful.
