W Austin Hotel Review

First time I felt compelled to write a review. The hotel is beautiful; however, the design of the restroom makes it inconvenient for those staying with kids. The restroom in our two queen beds room did not have a door and everything is left wide open.

In addition, we received a charge after we left later in the night (thankfully we have email notifications for our credit cards) for the snack bar. We did not even touch the bar yet were still charged automatically. Good thing we called immediately to dispute it. The charge was removed; however, it makes us wonder how many other patrons they have done this to and have gotten away with it if they don't pay attention to their credit card charges?

Was pretty dope, baiting to buy things is annoying and kinda expensive

Much like most W Hotels in the states. Made for the trendy set, over priced everything, tiny rooms but staff friendly and helpful.

Work holiday party at the W. Food was promptly refilled at every station. Coat check service available. Need more bar(tender)s to accommodate large groups.

Always wonderful working with the team here! They take such good care of us and the food and drinks are always perfect! I highly recommend having your next event at the W.

They have a great Old Fashion and general drink list. This is a great bar before hitting Austin City Limits. I've stayed at the hotel before as well and the rooms are spacious and trendy. A great place overall.

W Austin is the best hotel in Austin, if you want a great laugh visit Dave and Jevon at the bar. For breakfast we enjoyed the service of Prometheus, always had a smile and was very attentive.

Service was great, and the room was great. We had the corner suite and enjoyed it greatly

Awesome atmosphere. It has a very "Las Vegas club" kind of vibe to it. The reverse happy hour on weekdays from 7 PM to 10 PM has pretty good deals, otherwise the drinks are a bit pricy. Definitely a place you should go to at least once.

The stay at the W Austin isn't too bad. It has a good location and is a walk away from downtown. The check in area did feel a bit crowded for me. The room is decently sized and the layout is not bad. The desk and the nightstands in the room however should have more easily accessible power outlets. I had to stand far away from the desk and to finally notice receptacles under the desk. Service was prompt and responsive. The noise outside was a bit loud around midnight and could have better noise isolation. Overall a good stay.

I attended an event hosted here and thought the hotel was beautiful and my limited interaction with the staff was nice.

I was in town for a pre-wedding party and this hotel was excellent. Great rooms, excellent bar adjacent to lobby and the interior decor is wonderful.

Manager Hillary Schwartz was absolutely unprofessional and I would NEVER go anywhere she works again-most especially this Austin W hotel. The food and drinks were great but when Hillary got involved after our check was paid (she was not our server) she came outside to tell our party that we were not to have any outside beverages. Being from Missouri, we did not know we weren t allowed to bring the bottle we didn t finish at the restaurant we went to for dinner before heading to the W for dessert. We did not drink the bottle we brought and actually all got different drinks but Hillary came outside and confiscated the bottle from us accusing us of knowingly breaking the law. We weren t knowingly doing anything wrong. So, we gave her the bottle and she offered to buy us a bottle at the hotel if we were guests. I said we weren t so she said she could probably do something where we are staying and asked where. When we weren t staying at a Starwood Preferred Guest hotel she could t help us. Major fail - she over promised and under delivered. So we were just going to leave but when we were about to head next door to another W facility I asked for a plastic cup so I wasn t bringing the glass onto the dance floor - she refused and said it s illegal. So, we did not go next door to dance nor did we give any more of our dollars to any other employee employed by W hotels because of her lack of professionalism. I would never ever ever come back here and if you ever interact with Hillary please be warned that she is rude, unprofessional and absolutely unwilling and unable to make a guest happy. Be warned!

If I could give a zero, I would. While staying at the W Hotel in Austin one of their staff members stole a very expensive pair of Louis Vuitton shoes right out of my suitcase as well as my friends sunglasses. I filed a claim with their security and insurance team and they did absolutely nothing. I will never stay at a W hotel or support them in anyway again. If you stay at this hotel, make sure to lock up everything or just don't let the maids into your room because they are thieves and dishonest employees and hotel management will protect them.

The best drinks downtown. The living room bar is a great place to chill out and kick off the weekend! Try the silders!

I'f you've been to a W hotel... well this one is OK. Not the best I've stayed in, and the bar is over-hyped for a hotel bar, but I think it's a good addition to austin.

Went to the living room, loved that is wasn't obvious and the overall setting! A bit too busy, hope to try it out during the week some time.

The wait staff at the bar was efficient yet friendly and it was a trendy crowd.

Not impressed at all with this property. I travel a lot and outlets are a big deal. You would think they would have some on each side of the bed...nope! Rooms not laid out very well, a lot of wasted space.

Classy, excellent service and really comfortable ... the best pillows you may find out of home. If you don't stay here come and try the bar; the decoration, food and drinks are delicious. Try the almonds with rosemary and garlic.

Luxury and comfort, with the richest pillows you will find away from home. If you don't stay here at least visit the bar, as the drinks, decorations and snacks are worth it.

Rooms are very nice. Pool is awesome and fun. Lots of young people and locals.

One of the best! The service, quick valet, and room service - everything has been on point. The "management" has everyone on the same page; the employees pay attention to detail here. They go above and beyond and it's apparent. Will be coming back. Nice work W Austin!

Always great music here. My favorite is hearing DJ Mahealani work her magic!

Very classy place, staff was very attentive to all our needs. Beautiful rooms and great food.

The food here is a delight. I recommend the brisket sliders and fried pickles. During happy hour they have $5 drinks. There is a very modern cozy feel to the place. A great spot to chill out and avoid that nasty rush hour traffic.

This was a nice W with a good location. Has a Starbucks next door to the hotel if you want that in the morning. Large gym and spa area. Has a pool deck as well. Staff was very friendly. Had one issue as clock in my room was set to incorrect time but they apologized. Rooms are standard W rooms with those open bathroom concepts.

Nice happy hour. Not especially cheap, but reasonable for downtown Austin. Wednesday is Rose night.

There are much better hotel options in downtown Austin. Had a staycation here and was pretty disappointed overall. The pool was nice and the location is great, but that was about it. There were multiple mischarges on our account at the end of our stay and the manager was disinterested in sorting them out. We are still waiting to be refunded for charges that should not have been incurred. If you re staying in Austin choose the JW Marriott or Fairmont. If you do decide to stay, do not get the included breakfast. The food is subpar and they charged us for it even though we already paid for it in the room rate. There are much better breakfast places within walking distance.

Lives up to the W name. Great location, nice rooms, and a happening pool. It is the place to stay for young hipsters and the pool attracts beautiful tourists and locals alike.

I've never been an overnight guest at the W Hotel, but I've frequented their Living Room Lounge on more than one occasion. The lounge is comfy and decorated with sumptuous chairs and pillows, The drinks are superb and inventive, staff is most helpful and unpretentious. The staff seems to work hard to treat their guests well; and I have enjoyed each visit immensely. The appetizers from the hotel restaurant,Trace, are outstanding. My favorite appetizer is the sliders. One order contains three scrumptiously tender brisket sliders that will melt in your mouth. My favorite cocktail is the 2nd Street Sidecar and is what I consider to be a drinkable dream. Yum!

Great service, beautiful view on the Colorado River. Very comfortable room. Location was ideal for me.

Attended a wedding last night. Beautiful Decor, the BEST WEDDING FOOD EVER! If you are considering this as an option, HUGE HIT!!! Tenderloin, Salmon, amazing. Thank for nice valets too, Young Arab man always so professional (sorry, forgot his name). Dr. K

Modern contemporary hotel. City view of Austin. Awesome bar and "living room" area to chill. Rooms are really nice.

I have stayed at many W Hotels (Mexico City, Instanbul, Santiago, etc.) and the W Hotel Austin ranks up there with the best. Great location and professional service.

Great location in the heart of downtown Austin within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and bars. The rooms we large, quiet and nicely appointed and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return!

Bar/ music was really fun for a Saturday night. Pool was relaxing. Room was ok- missing TV remote and sheets were stained. If given a chance I'm sure they would've fixed it but we were already settled in.

I attended a wedding at the hotel. Food wad excellent but the wedding hall was pretty small and looked leds expensive than other weddiny venues that are cheaper than the hotel.

It s a great hotel to stay at! It s got a nice pool and the city of Austin is really nice and the people in the city are really nice!

Had an awesome stay at the W. The building is so airtight we missed the sounds of the bad storm that was in rare form in an and around Austin. The breakfast at Trace was quite tasty. Can't wait to go back.

I recommended my sister and her husband stay there along with my niece. Service was horrible once you got past the gentleman at the front door who was very nice. Once in the hotel the service was poor, over an hour late to let my family into their rooms, not even a single apology only excuses. Once in the rooms they seemed worn out and not cleaned very well. One of the bartenders was just downright cranky. Spending 20 dollars on small cocktail should at least grant me a smile or some semblance of good service. Next time the family will be staying at the JW down the street where drinks are reasonable and service is what they thrive on.

They have quite a few different bars it seems at the W. I went to very back one. Great atmosphere, bartender knew her drinks, and got speedy service. The only thing that sucked was that all of the outdoor patio was already reserved, leaving only a few seats for my coworkers and I to sit at. Prices aren't too bad, but it ain't cheap either.

Top notch service and environment! Best place to stay in Austin.

This review is for the Living Room Lounge only. The bar itself is very cool, there is a 'Red Room' (where the bar is located) and the Record Room, which really does feel like someone's nice living room, complete with comfy, hip furniture and a wall covered in LPs. I found the drinks to be super pricey but I expected this from the W.

Stayed overnight for an event in the area. Room was gorgeous, breakfast food was tasty, and was generally an excellent experience.
