My general opinion of the W is that it thinks that it is cooler than it is. Having said that, I attended a private event there and the staff and location were great. The drinks were well made, the staff was atttentive and the bar was really comfortable. Sitting at the bar another time, I could not but help notice that it seemed that people were there to be seen as much to enjoy themselves. I would have a hard time saying anything bad about the bar itself, I would also have a hard time saying anything really great.

Too pricey at the bar to wait the long line to be served a beer. For those expensive cocktails..then it's great. For anything else...there's a convenience store a 1/2 block away that serves you better. And you don't have to deal with the people who want to be seen.

Great service. Stuff is super friendly and accommodating. I had stay here a couple of times and the last time the room was very small. Some rooms have a great view of the river. It is the place to stay if you are young and want to party. Not so much family friendly. I have never heard people from other rooms or partying. I love and recommend it.

Spa/Pool day. The massage was great and it was nice to be able to sit in a cabana and enjoy the rest of the day afterwards. If you want a cabana, there is a food/drink minimum of $500. Our server Robert went above and beyond - he was the BEST! Food selection is much better in the bar or restaurant downstairs. Get a bottle of bubbly (or two) and enjoy.

I'm a native Austinite and I've stayed st various hotels such as the Fairmont, Westin, Hilton and JW. I would have to say the W ranks the best amongst them all. The W staff will spoil you rotten!! I enjoyed it very much. Alex and Tres at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Dorian was able to upgrade me! And Hannah at the pool remembered my birthday and even sent me a slice of cake to my room! Christiana at the pool was so nice and always provided what I needed. I cant wait to do it again! Oh and did I mention they sent a bottle of champagne to my room for my birthday??! Do yourself a favor and stop looking around for hotels, book it here!

Didn't really come away with complaints here. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Three upside is the is a great night club downstairs. Great crowd of adults and kinda expensive drink selection but worth it.

The valet (which costs $45/night by the way) LOST ...

The valet (which costs $45/night by the way) LOST OUR KEYS THE FIRST NIGHT WE CHECKED IN and we were constantly given the run-around by both hotel and valet management, both of which passed the buck to one another and neither of whom were helpful in actually getting anything resolved. We found out at around midnight that the valet left our keys in another person's car who had since left the premises. They were able to track them down in the morning and relocate the keys and the valet management was able to see that the situation was resolved, but I was ultimately very unsatisfied by the conduct of the management of the hotel itself rather than the valet. When we brought the issue to their attention, they promised to contact us in the morning after losing our keys at night and failed to do so. We had to reach out to them ourselves and were told that the driver of the car with our keys in it had been identified as a guest of a resident, who had been contacted via email. This was not sufficient. It took us going down to the front desk and valet in person to get them to start making phone calls and knocking on doors in order to resolve the situation with the urgency it deserved, and even then we got pushback from the hotel front desk. Losing someone's keys is a SERIOUS issue and we felt like we weren't being taken seriously by the hotel, who seemed more interested in pointing fingers and shuffling around blame than in pursuing a remedy. If the valet management hadn't found our keys there is NO QUESTION that we would've checked out early immediately afterward, as when you're paying $400-600/night and $45 for parking alone this is just a disgrace.

Absolutely awesome hotel.

My boyfriend and I along with two other couples booked four rooms. We were not able to stay because of my dog. I called before making a reservation to make sure it was okay. I was assured it would be fine but would just need to pay extra along with a deposit. All six of us are now without a place to stay. This place is awful.

I planned my sister's bachelorette in Austin and we decided to stay at the W Austin mid July because of the daily pool party! 13 girls and we had the best stay here! The pool was easily accessible as well! The drinks at the poolside were definitely pricier and watered down than what we expected but it is the W! FYI, the bathrooms do not have a door for privacy except for the toilet. The shower door is clear and located by the entrance door. They were kind enough to place a 'privacy curtain' if you call and ask for it, but I think all the W hotels are made this way. The room was clean and smelled nice, the beds are big and comfortable! Wifi is not complimentary and available for purchase per day. That sucked for my bachelorettes!
The W hotel event coordinators were awesome as well!! They were so helpful in assisting with all the planning for the weekend. She gave me a list of restaurants for dinner or brunch, things to do for bachelorettes etc. It decreased my research time by half!
Thanks to Kaleb- who made our rooming issue less stressful. He was super nice and accommodated our last minute needs! ;) Shout out to another staff member, Eddie! My cousin appreciates your effort in finding her jean shorts she left at the pool area and also mailing it back to her in timely manner! All the staff are so nice, understanding, and accommodating! We loved our stay and definitely recommend to everyone!

Not the best W. Surprised by how dirty, worn and dusty the common areas were. Staff was disinterested in their work. That said, the rooms were quiet and inside the room was cleaned well. The restuarant staff was friendly and food pretty good. However, there are lots of better places to stay and for a W this property falls short.

Beautiful hotel. My only criticism is the entrance seems to be in the wrong place. I walked by it several times before I found the lobby and when I went in it felt like I was using a side entrance or something.

The guest service team was incredible. they were friendly, personable, and helpful to find some great things to do. The club on the ground floor of the W was a pretty decent scene upon returning late at night. Would definitely come back.

Very swanky hotel in downtown Austin. Got a great deal on weekend rooms, but you pay for the cheap rooms with the overpriced food & drink. Rooms are nice but feel a little small for an upscale place.

Everytime I visit Austin I always visit the hotel bar at W Austin. Why? They have the best private bathrooms. As a wary traveler I like the comfort of a private bathroom, and they are plentiful here. Just buy a drink.and leave a nice tip in exchange for the facilities

I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the staff at the W Hotel. I had an event in Houston and all of my event materials were sent to the W Hotel in Austin - which is where I was planning to stay the following night. I called The W in a panic at 8pm the night before my event, realizing what had happened. A wonderful man by the name of Ernie answered the phone. I told him what had happened and asked him if there were any delivery services that would be able to get my the materials by 11am the next day. He took down my number and did some research, trying to find someone who could make the 5 hour RT drive to get them to me. Sadly, as you would expect at that time, no one was open. Ernie, out of the kindness of his heart, told me that he would be happy to drive them down to me. I was in shock and disbelief that someone I'd never met before would be willing to do such an amazing thing for me - a stranger. Talk about customer service! Long story short, Ernie made the long trek through the night and got me the materials for my event - arriving at 2am. This man deserves a raise and/or a promotion. I've never experienced generosity like this before from a hotel employee. I'm beyond grateful! Thank you Ernie! :)
