Went for afternoon tea for my 60th birthday with 3 friends. I Spoke to someone last night, I was advised this would not be a problem and to request plain ham sandwiches for 1 of the group,on our arrival today- when I did this I was advised afternoon tea was the standard tea, but they would do plain ham sandwiches , instead of egg mayonnaise, and plain tuna , eventually we were brought ham sandwiches with a thick layer of mustard on both sides, and tuna with I think peppers in it. Then we asked for a refil of tea - hot water was put in pot but no tea bag - .so this was sent back . And a fresh pot of tea was delivered- which had a tea bag in it . Had it not been for good company my afternoon tea celebration would have been ruined .
Very disappointing afternoon which we were looking forward to .

The rooms were great and the building quirky and interesting. Seriously let down by grumpy and indifferent staff, really inconsistent food ranging from inedible to quite good. I'd probably pass on future trips to Manchester tbh.

The Bell Boy service was awful. We were a group of 14. No help was provided with luggage on 13th July 2019 at checkout. There were boxes filled with chocolates to help yourself when kids took few they removed the boxes from the tables and hid them. Shameful. Pathetic

Lovely hotel, very welcoming staff, bar area very nice with a good selection of drinks. Rooms are very nice, with original beams still in place making it different from other hotels. Great stay overall.

In a main room through the bar from reception. Perfect for the size of the group but the air con was way too cold and a terrible draft from the store room next door. Asked several times for this to be sorted but was not.

Very slow check in, took almost half an hour and there was only 1 other person infront of us. Bedrooms lovely but the air con didn't work properly so the room was extremely hot and the window only opened slightly. Very comfortable bed and pillows so dispite the heat I still slept. Breakfast was quite dissapointing, I took my case with me as was leaving after breakfast and was made to leave it at the front door which I didn't really feel comfortable doing, the breakfast food was all very underwhelming aswel, sausages and bacon were only just cooked and at 8.15 on a Saturday morningnthere were already no croissants/hardly any pastries left. It was nice to eat breakfast however overlooking the river.

It's my first time in Manchester and I'm really enjoying the Marriott. It's a lovely hotel with a business center, bar and restaurant. It's within walking distance of a lot of shopping, museums and restaurants. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast was ok...nothing special and I'd same the same for the restaurant dinner. I did not try the food from room service or the bar. They do have a membership with a local gym that has a pool and spa! I'd recommend and stay here again.

Overnight Saturday stay

Overnight Saturday stay
Ideally placed for Spinningfields for night life , 5 min walk , and only a bit longer walk into Manchester for shopping
Staff amazing , nothing too much trouble
Had a snack in the bar , was really nice food
Lots of rooms getting done up , our room had recently bedn upgraded and was fabulous !

Good

Nice hotel, very nice staff, especially Manuelo.

Nice hotel, very nice staff, especially Manuelo.
I got a suite which was well-equiped (though it was hard to find electricity spots. The only ones I found were far from my bed. Really weird...). My colleague, though, got a very small room and could hear the people who stayed next door.
Breakfast was ok, not a lot of choices but enough to get you started. The restaurant at the hotel had really great dishes and I ate there a few times during my stay.
Overall - had a good time there

Love this hotel, it is currently undergoing a much needed revamp, but regardless of this, it is still well worth a visit. The perfect location to explore the history, bars, restaurants & nightlife of Manchester

I booked a room for my daughter and boyfriend as a birthday present. The hotel were amazing, not only did they upgrade their room, but decorated it with birthday banners and left a birthday card. Definitely above and beyond service

Alas the restaurant in the evening is no more only limited bar Mesos. Dam shame if you ask me needed a bit more support and ideas to get the evening food better known in the city. No doubt it will be the same old bar menu now for another year!

The room hadn't been cleaned properly. There was an opened shower gel in the shower, the toilet hadn't been flushed and the bin wasn't emptied.
The breakfast buffet was good except they were too quick to clear the table and took my coffee and drink whilst I'd gone to get some more food.

I've stayed here three times on business. The first time I really liked it, the mattress was older and broken in, but soft. The second time I did not like the mattress at all. It was way too hard, and I could feel every spring, and they had no mattress toppers or anything to improve the comfort. I think they got new mattresses and went cheap.

The third time really took the cake. They gave me a room with no fridge, and also no robe. Their excuse was that only some rooms have a fridge, and my size room doesn't. I stayed in the same size room my first visit and had a fridge. Furthermore, their site specifically states that a fridge (and robe) are part of the in-room amenities, it makes no mention that only some rooms have such offerings.

Being a platinum Marriott member, and for the prices they charge for these rooms, they should offer comfortable beds with the amenities promised.

Once again, I've got to start by saying this place is definitely fit for purpose. That said, there are things you'd expect from a Marriott that didn't really live up to those expectations. I'm tempted to rattle off examples at this point but the fact they were operating under covid influences is making hold my tongue.

Close to bars and restaurants, in the Spinnfields area, just behind the hotel you can take the free bus (line 1) that runs through Manchester. Near the center that can be reached on foot, about 20 minutes.

Cleansed. Very comfortable.

Spacious rooms; we stayed in a room for 3 and got 2 king size beds. There is no extra bed option.

The breakfast buffet, although there is not a great variety, what there is is always being replenished and it is very good. The lounge overlooks the canal and in the evenings there is always some sport.
