Reasonable hotel, but fell short of expectations. Conference room was cold as was the main restaurant, while bedrooms were cooking. Parking is pricey and breakfast was disappointing. Overall not good value for money.

But our room (402) was next to some sort of boiler or pump room
We thought it was the heating when we arrived but as we returned later it did not go off with the heating. Really felt like the whole room was vibrating and even putting our heads on the pillow amplified the noise.
Would stay again but for sure never in 402.
Nice hotel. Good location. Concierge parking too. Restaurant look over the canal. Gives the appearance of being on a boat!
Went for a seminar, amazing place, bit little partking area so had to turn around and parking in a multistorey.

It took them well over half an hour just to make an order of 4 drinks.

Beautiful hotel, very polite and helpful staff. Asked about upgrades when we arrived and got a suite for a very reasonable rate including breakfast.

Much needed break that lived up to all my expectations. If you have the money and want to visit Manchester, I would highly recommend this place.

Having stayed here for a week and now midway the second week (coming back for a third) I've had enough of a sense to make my mind on what to settle for as a review.
I got a spacious room and happily locked this same room in for the 3 weeks I am here. However my colleagues on other floors had smaller rooms, pillars in the middle of the room and much noisier. My room itself is the only saving grace of this review.
Bathroom feels a bit old. Specially the showers which are stuck at a height and anyone taller than 5'6" has to crouch.
The TV is a really old Philips LCD TV which can only use the ports the hotel has installed. For business travelers like myself or even personal trips if you wanted to use the HDMI ports you're out of luck.
Food at the restaurant isn't great. Breakfast is decent thigh but I don't recommend having dinner here definitely order in or eat out.
There is only one pair of lifts and of those only one is working. As you can imagine the mornings are hectic to get down to breakfast. Additionally there are no fridges in the rooms so people who stay for several nights will miss this nicety.
Overall I have been comfortable if it's also been just an AVERAGE stay specially since I just expect more from Marriott as a brand having stayed there in other countries. If you are here for a business trip (like many of the guests j saw) the only real USP is its location because it's walking distance to the nearby CBD.
I have another week to be here but it is unlikely this hotel can elevate my experience to render it even 4 stars.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, excellent food, extremely comfy large beds with quality bedding, breakfast served until 11am. However the bar closes quite early for party goers. Being woken up at 8am with very loud heavy drilling, heavy machinery, trucks bleeping as they reverse from the building site facing was very annoying indeed but not the hotels fault.
My family of 3 stayed here during my son's football (soccer) trip/tour. ALL Staff were amazing! The hotel was at max. capacity a few nights but staff worked so hard to keep up. Housekeeping were polite and respectful, even left extra waters and clean towels for us. Front staff was helpful throughout our stay. Restaurant & food staff had wonderful customer service and were always helpful and friendly. Thank you Marriott for helping to make our stay in Manchester so comfortable. Mahalo from Hawaii!!

Excellent Afternoon Tea; food was superb. Very friendly, helpful staff, especially Erik, who sorted out a difficulty we had on arrival (Afternoon tea had been booked for us a few weeks ago through Groupon who had failed to pass on our reservation details. The voucher that had been used for the booking was also now out of date). We were offered a complimentary cocktail.

The V&A is a stunning hotel in an excellent location. I met with a supplier there, using one of the well equipped meeting rooms. The visit was only let down by slightly less than attentive staff, who were busy dealing with an unusually high number of guests
A nice place for staying. I enjoyed my two days at this place.
Started with the room which was dirty, toilets don't flush well, tub was dirty and water leaked through the half build glass which was not sealed properly. Food was the worst i have tasted. It was disgusting. Being a Marriot hotel it is hard to believe that the standards are so poor. However the staff was very nice.

The staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The gentleman who booked us in was amazing and very chatty! (Sorry we didn t get your name!)
We were upgraded to a different room that had a stone wall and wooden features. So this was very nice.
The bed was massive, we went for a king size and there was so much room! The mattress and pillows were super comfy. We both slept very well.
Overall, I would stay here again but I think there are a few updates required as below!
What s an Opportunity for Improvement ?
- Lack of power sockets is annoying, there was none around the bed so had to charge the phone no where near the bed. Would be nice to have USB ports too!
- I think it would be nice to have soft close doors in the rooms, in a morning all you can hear is people slamming the doors. The worst ones are near the television.
-The bar had no atmosphere, during COVID we also had to text a mobile number with our order whilst the bartender was literally stood right in front of us? Doesn t make much sense.

Lovely hotel located in Spinningfields, just 10 mins walk to main retail district. Hotel is just by the river, has large spacious rooms with some nice wooden features. Never had breakfast or dinner here so can't comment. There's no gym onsite, but I believe they have an arrangement with nearby club to use theirs.

Afternoon Tea visit, on Sunday which maybe explains why it was a bit quiet. Service was very good. The Tea was good but there is a lot of competition these days and so this experience seems expensive.
Surprising quiet given the age of the building. Comfortable rooms. Staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast buffet was the usual. Service in restaurant was great. Walk around the river a bit. Very nice and well located.
Using the Victoria conference room for a training course and the concierge service was extremely thorough

Great location - walking distance to city centre. Hanna on reception greeted us very well & was very helpful during our 2 night stay. Lovely room, good breakfast & bar snack, warm atmosphere created by the nice young man at the bar - sadly didn't get his name. Definitely go again.

Went for the brunch with bottomless prosecco. Decent food (turkey club) and the prosecco was nice, although we had to keep asking for refills.
