Decent hotel in great location, has some service issues
Forget about the $34 daily valet fee (we are talking Maine here, not Boston or NYC). We could clearly hear the conversation of the people in the adjourning room. Overall not a good experience. Would never return. The only saving grace was the bar/restaurant on the 15th floor. Great views of the harbor. Catch it at sunset.
Great location. We had a good experience and no issues.
Wonderful rooms and I loved how close it was (walking distance) to all the old port has to offer!
One of the best Westins I've stayed at. Rooms are furnished well, large, have amazing AC and great showers. The wifi is pretty decent but not great. There are two best parts about this hotel. 1. The bar at the top floor. 2. How Central it is to everything. Highly recommend.
Messed up our reservation. Not all that friendly at the front desk. And a $10 charge for wifi? Pathetic.
Very nice hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious and the staff was very helpful. Recommend getting a drink on the top floor..best view in Portland
Drinks, service were good. Got some snacks but no meal.
One of my best friends recently had a wedding here at the Westin. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding. The Westin was there every step of the way. Such a beautiful venue inside and out
Great hotel, clean and nice rooms. However I am injured and on on crutches. I am also a Gold Elite member and put a note requesting an accessible room on the reservation. Then, we called ahead and also requested an accessible room, specifically with shower bars as I cannot stand up without assistance. I checked in ON CRUTCHES and even after all that, was not given an accessible room. I almost died in the shower and my crutch kept getting caught in the narrow walkway of the room. For 3 separate people to screw that up, is completely unacceptable. When I checked out, it was the same employee who checked me in, and I told him our room was not handicap accessible, all he said was "I don't see a note for that, sorry". I won't be starting there again.
Thank you for the amazing NYE party. The bamd was awesome and the food delish! Will we be seening each other again this Dec 31??
We're having a large conference there and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating!
Everything was great, even though our room wasn't ready when we showed up around 7pm. Hey I'll take what I get on New year's
The hotel is situated right in downtown Portland. Staff was welcoming and friendly, and the room was great. There's also a private parking structure so you don't have to worry about snow.
Really nice hotel with updated rooms. The gym has great stationary bikes with a flywheel.
Worse check in ever!!!!! Never checked in drove another 4 hours to get home since they couldn't find our reservation!
Excellent service, clean rooms, good room layout, great bathroom
Nice hotel with modern rooms. BUT they tend to downgrade their customers. We had to fight to get the type of room we had booked. Not pleasant.
First of all upon arrival and check in we had the unfortunate experience of dining at the C2 restaurant in the hotel. Six hours later I woke up vomiting with terrible diarrhea and terrible stomach pain. And for the next six days my vacation was ruined as I was in bed sleeping most of the time with vomiting and diarrhea and stomach pain. Today is day seven I am back home with symptoms still just a little more mild. When I complained to the food and beverage manager and explained what happened he refused to believe I was sick from eating at C2 because of the timeline of events. I explained that food poisoning can show symptoms pretty immediate depending on the type. I asked to explain himself and what he knew about food poisoning in an email and his story changed to it is possible to have symptoms of food poisoning within the timeline i experienced. He went on to explain the extent of training everyone with hands on food under go exc. I explained that I traveled all day and that was my first meal of the day. I knew it was the lamb meatballs I ate at C2 that made me very sick. What was offered for the inconvenience was soup or ginger ale. Last thing I needed was any food from any kitchen here at this hotel I thought. At check out I was still charged for the meal that made very ill. It just felt like a slap in the face. Not a very hospitable attitude. Also if someone with a compromised immune system had eaten the contaminated food it could have killed them. This is not a situation to be ignored or not recognized. But because I was still charged for the meal it was very clear that management just didn't believe me. If anyone else has become sick from eating at any of the hotel restaurants at this location please report it.
Nice location. Only complaint is that it smelled like cigarette smoke outside the front door
Great location in the middle of a shopping district. Walking distance from the downtown ports where there are even more shops and restaurants. Great bar at the top of the hotel with a great view. Rooms have plenty of windows. No bathtubs or pool, and the attached spa is pricey.
Nice hotel and very dog friendly. There's a park a few steps away where you can walk dogs or sit outside. Awesome location and very close to amazing restaurants and Portland Museum of Art.
Wow! What a fantastic place to stay. Hotel was beautiful. Room was clean and large. Staff were fantastic and knowledgeable. A quick walk to many fun places as well. Highly recommend!
It was okay. Service is fantastic, provided appetizers were less than desirable.
Great place to stay!! Very clean very nice!! Super friendly staff!
Overpriced with all things considered. Booked a suite for our 10yr anniversary, arrived at 5pm on Friday (well after check-in) to find our room wouldn't be ready for another hour. Housekeeping never serviced our room during our entire stay, but they were like hawks circling our room when it was check-out. I went out of my way to book one of the nicer hotels in the area, and a suite no-less, only to be disappointed.
Good hotel but small rooms.on top floor there is a restaurant. Good view of sea side portland
We'll maintain hotel. Great customer service. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.
This is the place to stay in Portland. Great rooms, Perfect location. Walk to shows at state theatre.
Expensive. Parking not included (and not cheap). That said, room was clean and service was good. My wife loved the shower.
Updated- they ended up charging us for internet after telling us it was included (they did refund this). They also put our parking charges on the wrong card. For the price we paid for this room I find this unacceptable.
In the center of downtown Portland with great amenities. Attended company function that was well catered with attentive staff.
Awesome location! Within walking distance of some awesome restaurants and local shops of Old Port. Very nice staff and clean rooms!
My spouse and I attended a formal company event. The space was tastefully decorated with subtle mood lighting and comfortable seating. The servers and bar tenders were friendly, efficient and professional. Love this venue!
The staff made this hotel special. The rooms were clean, if a little small. We were traveling with our two kids, so we asked if they had an alternate room than the one-bed room that we had booked (our fault for last minute travel). They were not able to upgrade us, but they went out of their way to accommodate our kids - giving us a breakfast voucher, offering coloring books and crayons, and making recommendations. We appreciate it!
Nice Portland stay especially for those attending concerts at the state theater.
Rooftop bar
Great location, it has the amenities you would expect.
Nice rooms and facilities. Top of the East is nice, great views, but know that you pay for the location.
Convenient location, rooms and amenities are fairly standard for the price/brand. The city is lovely, and the gym does have a TRX band if that is a draw for some. Overall a fine hotel, though parking is a bit expensive and our room wasn't quite as clean as we expected when we arrived. The lounge on the top floor is beautiful and drinks are reasonably priced.
The woman that I love was with me and we had the best time
We had a great time at the Westin. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating to us. If you fly in to Portland be sure to call the hotel for their free shuttle service. We used the shuttle service several times during our visit. We took a cruise out of Portland and when returning the bellhops stored our luggage while we explored the city waiting for our plane.
The wait staff at the roof top are so so so rude and they double bill.
Some shots from the in side..pretty sure the bus was seethers who we came to see at state theatre.
Fancy, Friendly, Fine. Listen man, I was just visiting.
Staff was great, hotel was clean, parking is like 34 for the day, decent view from my particular room, 15 fls total
I've yet to have a bad stay at this hotel. Everyone from the valets who meet me to the front desk people who check me in to the bartenders and waitstaff at the roof top bar are friendly and professional. Also, the rooms are always clean and the beds make me want to replace my own bed at home.
Top of the East is always a nice spot for a drink and appetizer while enjoying a view of the coast.
Great stay overall. The room was surprisingly quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the rainfall showerhead combo. I also appreciated that the hotel has an arrangement with the parking garage next door. You can use your room key to get in and out of the structure until 4 pm the day of checkout and then just leave the key in a dropbox at the exit. Since the structure is so close and there is a convenient access door to the hotel, it seemed a lot faster than waiting for the valet.
Great night's stay. Got upgraded to a suite and it was a great night's sleep. They had parking and a shuttle to get to great places to eat. They offered great advice.
Very nice huge room on a high floor, we were upgraded as the hotel was quiet and we stopped en route home from Boston due to dangerous driving conditions. Very considerate staff. Nice that it is just around the corner from the excellent Five Fifty Five restaurant.
Rooms are incredibly pleasant. Very clean and we'll laid out. Great military rate!
Excellent service and best Portland hotel for the money!
Room was clean and spacious. We appreciated having a free shuttle to take us places. All staff were helpful in meeting our needs.
Our family always stays at Westin hotels because of the high standards. While the customer service has been excellent, we had to be moved from our first room because of excessive mold and mildew in the shower. The second room was much better, but still had some mildew in the shower. The location is excellent near the harbor.
Very inconvenient for wheelchair access. The sidewalk where the access is, is all broken up concrete and uneven.
The location was amazing with views of the waterfront and easy access to downtown Portland. However we were less then impressed with the rooftop bar as our waitress was flippant and cared little for our drink needs. Would go to the hotel again as the room was very nice and clean.
We both got sick from the room service food... This was very unpleasant.
The check-in process was also terrible. They first sent us to an occupied room, which was pretty uncomfortable when we opened the door. Then they sent us to another room with roomkeys that didn t work... Also a bit of a funny smell in the hallways.
The TV was small, you couldn t order movies, and there were no Netflix/Hulu apps on it. Unsure why the generally good reviews on here.
Great service, impeccable rooms, awesome rooftop bar.
Had a drink at Top of the East. The view is amazing and there is a pretty good selection of craft beer with an attentive staff. Definitely a must-see place to have a drink and take in the city from 15 stories up.
Beautiful hotel with excellent security and all the amenities you can ask for
Modern amenities in an old brick building. An excellent combination of old and new
The Westin was expensive but it had a very nice view from the room as well as the roof top bar. Good location for bar hopping in the less touristy part of Portland.
Went to the rooftop bar, good drinks and view, but the service was rude not letting us push tables together in a almost empty bar and just giving attitude when asking questions about the drink menu.
Lots of service issues, disappointing stay. The place is nicely appointed though in typical Westin fashion. Much better Westin s out there though
Stayed here recently and I was underwhelmed, charged erroneously and will not be returning. Climate controls in our room (Rm. 612 ) were consistently either exceptionally hot or exceptionally cold with a vent that blew directly onto the bed making sleeping on an already too soft bed with poor quality pillows even more uncomfortable. As well, the bed was too small for two people though to their credit, they did mention in the original post it was a full-sized mattress opposed to a queen sized mattress.
What really annoyed me most of all was the erroneous $501 dollar charge made "by accident by the computer" after already paying for my room in full via Orbitz. While this was rectified (I received my money back 72 hours later) I should NEVER have had this happen in the first place and it affected other deposits and purchases made during my actual trip. This is unacceptable and while I was 'apologized' to it has little to do with the fact that my vacation was interrupted by this error. In addition, when I first confronted a staff member about this in the lobby she "didn't know" and guessed it was a "safety deposit" for potential damages. When I pointed out the absurdity of a $501 dollar charge for potential damages and that a $50 charge was already made for any possible damages (which was returned, 72 hours later) she simply said "I dont know!" I received answers once following through with the manager. And finally, to add further insult to injury, they charged me erroneously for a valet charge never used but did refund it.
In closing, I will never stay here again and will share this poor experience with others who I know may be visiting Maine. I'd love to see Westin Portland further rectify my poor experience.
Beautiful hotel in the middle of Portland. Everyone was so nice, the service was excellent, and to top it off, the view of the harbor from our 14th floor room was incredible! There is also a very nice fitness center with on-demand electronic workout classes available. Highly recommend!
Very pleased with our large room and the recently renovated hotel. Wish we had known that the hotel is no located within 'the action' of downtown Portland, and feels a bit removed. However, it is still only a 10-15 minute walk to the water. Unless you're and SpG member, I wouldn't recommend staying here because its location + price makes it a less attractive option.
