The Roosevelt is a fabulously elegant and beautiful hotel! We stayed in a lovely suite on the 12th floor with peeks of the Mississippi and the fireworks on Friday night. It was very easy to navigate the city from there, especially due to the wonderful concierges, Don and Raymond!! They made our stay even better. Warren Carter, a server who assisted my conference was also excellent. Overall an excellent hotel with great, attentive staff.

The building is a historic old structure. The interior was completely renovated after Katrina in 2005. While much of the interior was updated, it preserves a wonderful history in the decor and furnishings. The rooms are spacious and well designed.
My bartender remembered me from a year ago and was the perfect blend of snarky and sweet that I like from the person slinging my fancy booze. I even got to read through the binder of historical notes, photos, and articles about the history of the bar. A must-go for any visit to the city. Even when it's crowded and the drinks come a little slower, the place is beautiful enough that I just sit and soak it in.
It s a historic hotel with many pieces of history laid about. This makes you feel you walked into the 1920s or earlier. It s just a beautiful hotel, the lobby is amazing. You will definitely take selfies there so come dressed nicely. It is a wonderful location to hold a conference. The rooms are nice and the location provides an easy walk to everything. The hotel is definitely not on the cheap side so if budget is an issue this will not be you re long term stay choice. A tip is there are old mail slots so get a lost card and drop it down the mail slot they appears to run the height of the hotel :-)
The Roosevelt is a historical hotel. So glad I decided on this hotel and location. You get the amazing Hilton Waldorf Astoria benefits like the great pillows, towels, linens and service. The historical nature and architecture of the actual building is stunning and I loved staying there. The rooftop pool, hot tub were small but plenty of room to catch some sun and the rooftop bar/grill was nice to have. The fitness center was great. The location is perfect as you are just off Canal Street and it is super easy to walk right into The French Quarter. Every time I asked a question or had a request there was a staff member making sure everything was taken care of. Since we are in the pandemic, I have to say the person who cleaned my room each day did a fantastic job. Super clean. Finally as a Diamond HHonors member I stay at a lot of hotels and my room at The Roosevelt was top notch with high ceilings and plenty of room. I will definitely stay at this hotel the next time I am in New Orleans.
Had reservations for a king room. Was put in a queen beside the hotel hvac system. All you could see when looking out the window was the heat and air systems. All you could hear was the NOISE from the system. Requested a room change, was a little better. Only one key worked to get in the room and the other one "almost" didn't work. It was the right size room, however, it was dirty. The first thing I saw when I sat on the bed was a DIRTY sock! Will never go there again nor will I recommend it to anyone. Not to mention, it took the front desk clerk almost 30 minutes to do the check out because I decided to pay with cash. Fiasco! And who goes to a "luxury hotel, supposedly" and doesn't have a coffee maker in the room with condiments???? Just saying, NEVER AGAIN. The hotel put a damper on my trip from the very beginning.
Simply luxurious and wonderful. Old-school style and elegance combined with modern functionality and convenience. A must-see a and must-be-seen-at location.
Beautiful property, very close to Bourbon Street. Excellent service. I recieved two texts asking how I was doing in the less than 24 hours I was there.
We loved this hotel. When we walked in we felt like we had been transported back to another era...fully restored to the hey-day of this location, everything in the lobby clad in mirror and gold...absolutely lovely and gorgeous.
We stayed 6 nights in a superior King room which was a very nicely appointed, comfortable and spacious room. (Larger than regular King/Queen rooms but no view from the windows which the smaller rooms have.)
Service was excellent including the standard room make-up during the day, as well as turn down service at night. (an ESSENTIAL service where they rearrange pillows and, for some reason, turn on the TV.)
We spent a couple of nights in the Sazarac bar as well downstairs...Sazarac is especially known for having invented the, umm, Sazarac...the very first cocktail, so even the bar has an historic old-world (yet restored so it feels brand new) feel to it.
Excellent music (as one would expect in New Orleans) playing throughout the hotel.
You're about a block from the Canal street entrance to Bourbon street (with none of the noise or revelry which is fun to walk through, but not fun to try to sleep through) and generally easy walking distance to anywhere in the French Quarter. (plus you're right next to a couple of streetcar lanes to take you further away.
We felt like a king and queen in this hotel and would definitely come back to use it as a base for further New Orleans exploration.
Beautiful lobby and the maid service was 5 star. Unfortunately my room was in desperate need of work. Wallpaper peeling, the shower curtain was stained. (See photos). The shower head basically didn t work, flooded half the bathroom if you run it in what would be the standard position. The only way to not flood was to run it against the wall. The room had unbelievably tall ceilings and you can feel the incredible history of this hotel. But it is sad to see basic elements of the room in such poor shape.
Gorgeous property! Go around the holidays to witness the incredible decorations and lights! It takes you to another world, and have the most amazing service! Beautiful hotel!
I love the Roosevelt Hotel but I was through the other night and stopped to ask a few questions. The staff I spoke to were not very helpful or pleasant. It kind of surprised me as I always have had good interactions with the staff. Perhaps I caught them on an off day.
What is not to love?! We had the king suite. It made a great space for friends to visit with an extra visitor's bathroom. Turn down service on the last night. Very nice! All the staff are friendly & accommodating.
The family and I went to visit the hotel for it's lighing display. The lights along with the holiday ambiance made the hour long trip down to the hotel worth it. My little girls could not stop talking about the lights hours after we left the hotel.
Fantastic old hotel with lots of history. Beautiful. Very well accommodated rooms and a heavenly bed. The food at Chef Besh's restaurant there was exceptional. A lovely stay in New Orleans.
Horrible horrible experience. We were charged $1700 for four nights and put in a tiny corner room. The TV is almost pointless being that it s nowhere near where you are facing when lying in bed. Barely enough room to walk around. It s almost midnight and they have a band playing right below us extremely loud. All the front desk offered to do was give us ear plugs, which does nothing when you spent thousands of dollars to fly into New Orleans to run a race at 7 in the morning.
Stopped by for a drink at the Sazerac bar. The eponymous drink is an aquired taste, but the bar is beautiful and the rest of the drinks were very good.
The venue is lovely. I ate at Domenica. We got a cheese plate and two cocktails. The cocktails were overpriced and not very good. The chee're was just ok. The prosciutto was delicious but the pork shoulder was dry and had little flavor.
Visiting the Roosevelt Hotel the weekend after Thanksgiving is a tradition for me and my family. The lights are beautiful, and the drinks at the Sazerac Bar are amazing.
We're locals, but we like to play tourist for a couple of hours. It's lots of fun.
The suite enabled us to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday with several friends in comfort and style. Ours was the central meeting place each morning and the nightcap each evening because it was convenient, spacious, and elegant.
Service and accommodations of this Waldorf Astoria in New Orleans are perfect. Rooms are spacious, a good selection of restaurants, cafes, gift shops and bars. The staff is friendly, helpful, and happy to be working on the beautiful property. Holiday decorations are elaborate. Fresh flicked Christmas trees adorn every hallway of the entrance this year. This hotel location is walking distance from most attractions. We will be back!
Where to start? I just got back from a Thursday to Sunday trip at the Roosevelt. I agree with most reviewers that this is an older hotel, the rooms are smallish, I had the King Suite so not too small, but the bathrooms are very small for this price range. There is no in-room coffee maker which is curious, but also a PIA. The staff for the most part were excellent, helpful, and very professional. I say for the "most part" because the wait staff at the restaurant was not that competent, they were okay, passable, but if you were expecting Capital Grille level wait service at a fine establishment like this, that didn't materialize. Also I should point out that if go on an AMEX Platinum Fine Hotel Resort reservation you get early check in, which we got, a room upgrade if available, we didn't, a $100 resort credit, and breakfast for two daily. See below for that.....
Now for the lobby. Visually WOW. Really awesome decorations. See my pic, trust me when I tell you it doesn't do justice to two things: 1. The Decorations. 2. The INSANE number of people coming to the hotel to see them. And folks I mean insane!!! If the WWII Museum is the #1 attraction in NOLA, meet #2, because the crowds at both were similar. So we get there Thursday am and the lobby was "busy", by Thursday night it was packed. So the wife and I thought wow this is pretty cool. Then came the weekend. I can't express the level of the crowds, mobs of people in the lobby, no exaggeration it was like all of NOLA was in the hotel lobby, shoulder to shoulder, you literally had to dodge and weave to get through, I have to be in at least a 100 people's photos because it is impossible to go through the lobby without your picture being captured by someone else taking pictures. The crowds were so bad the hotel bar was 5-6 people deep IF you could even get in there, the restaurants which overlook the lobby were packed, and keep in mind NOT WITH HOTEL GUESTS! After Friday nights show you thought how much worse could it get? Well add the "Teddy Bear Tea" event to the mix and the lobby was now unusable for hotel guests. So that in room coffee maker they don't have... just became the most important thing you need.
Would I go back to the Roosevelt? Not at the holidays unless they limit the public access. Stay somewhere else and walk over like everyone else and get your pics in. Crazy.
12282019, A 3 star from me is not good/not bad: Overall, a pleasantly stress-free and enjoyable experience. I'd certainly come back having accumulated familiarity. Arrived on Christmas day for a few days of escapism. One should know that main entrance hallway is famously decorated and looks best at 1am after the throngs of people who need to have their picture taken for their social media stream clog the area have retired to sleep. It really does look fantastic. Service staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive to the typical minor service needs. A hotel of this size is an incredibly complicated environment made more difficult by inconsiderate guests who might think that any flat surface is a refuse container set up for them. Picking up after these tiresome people is a constant endeavor but one that the staff stalwartly accomplishes. I didn't sample the spa's services because it's not my relaxation preference. However, I was able to locate the workout facility. Think getting to the stadium stage scene in Spinal Tap. Fun. It has a thoughtful collection of treadmills, stationary bike, weights, and balls of various sizes, weights, & psi. At popular times, there could be a bit more air circulation. There's plenty of water and fruit snacks to keep you focused on maintaining your gains or working off yesterday's gumbo sampler. And, for the narcissist, mirrors. The actual hotel room was technologically modern yet in keeping with the classical design of the building. Two minor bathroom related items: 1. I'm not huge and I'm not small, but the showers are a bit narrow. 2. The bathroom door was not hung plum, and for all you non-carpenter types out there, this means the door would not stay open. It needed to be propped open. Hmmm. Room 10708 incidentally. Having pointed out those two small items, the bathrooms were clean, and the multi-head shower was satisfying. Home bathroom remodeling planning has begun. Oh, at times and to me, the floor hallways had a slight cedar or tack leather scent. If that's your thing, then there you go. The upper floor building halls and rooms were mostly library quiet. Appreciated. I witnessed but did not utilize the pool area. You would be able to soak after sunning and possibly(certainly) get splashed by the feral kids of less attentive parents getting their electric device fix. Forget about training for an Olympic swimming event though. That ain't happening. The in-building cafes and restaurants were capable and thoughtful. Hope this helped plan your visit.
Lovely hotel in walking distance to the heart of the Quarter. My room was lovely and comfortable. The service in the room and in cafe was great, and breakfast was delicious both days. I'll definitely stay here again.
Lovely hotel with great event rooms to rent. The restaurant didn't feel like you got the quality for the price paid, though. Worth your while to look at all the nearby places to eat.
I really enjoyed my stay at this wonderfully preserved and restored hotel. Staff was friendly and accommodations were so nice. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting the New Orleans area!
Even though the hotel is older, there is a fun, vibrant appeal about it. From the time we checked in to the time we left, we all felt well taken care of. The housekeeping staff taking care of our room went above and beyond taking care of our needs. Would highly recommend staying here. Great location and accessible to all parts of NOLA.
We went to the restaurant attached to the Roosevelt for dinner -Domenica. It was a great meal. The service was great, the drinks were great. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend
Lights and Christmas decorations are a spectacular to walk in. Too crowd the restaurant and bar. Lovely hotel shop. Great location in French quarter.
Christmas lights and decorations are spectacular for walking. Too crowded the restaurant and bar. Lovely hotel store. Excellent location in the French Quarter.
Very pretty hotel but we will always stay at the Ritz Carlton. No slam on the Roosevelt but the RC is just the best in town. Love Dominica here and also LOVE the Christmas decorations here in December
The front desk personal were great when suggesting places to eat and while some of the staff weren't very helpful, the older gentlemen were very helpful with my luggage... The atmosphere was calming at times and the rooms were exquisite... Loved it...
The place was great. From the moment you walk in you'll experience elegance and a bright Gatsby kind of golden glow. Room had penty of space and excellent beds. Also dog-friendly: huge plus
